like many of you, I read over the weekend the accused gunman behind a recent unsuccessful assassination attempt was seen wearing a shirt promoting someone or something known as Demolition Ranch. My first thought was, “it's pretty sweet after all these years that Barry Darsow and Bill Eadie maintain a ranch together,” but it turns out this has nothing to do with Ax & Smash, but is instead the branding of some YouTube weaponry nonsense. At a time when pollyanna calls for “unity” ring across the airwaves, wouldn't our society be better off if we watched Darsow and Eadie tending to animals, crops, etc., whatever farmers get up to, instead of some jacked up jagoff brandishing a military grade firearm? If you've never phoned in before, now is a perfect time (because the call screener just quit)
The Legendary Demolition Smash drops by ABAO. Whether you know him as Smash, Repo Man, or Barry Darsow, you know he has had a hall of fame career to say the least. Former WWE Tag Team Champion, Multiple Wrestlemania appearances, wrestling in a truck for WCW, and from his debut in 1981 to now in 2024 he's still out on the road doing appearances. Listen now for some great stories! Rock!

Due to a family emergency, we change gears for this week. The 1987 in the WWF Project returns next week. However, THIS is a Special Edition of the Grenade, as we go back to 1993 this week and cover the 2-Hour USA Special, the WWF's March to WrestleMania IX. An excellent addition to our 1993 Project that ended several episodes ago. The Macho Man meets Yokozuna, The Undertaker battles Bam Bam Bigelow, the Mega Maniacs shell out the most Drug-Infused Promo perhaps in the history of professional wrestling, plus so much more! It's a fun 90+ minute ride back to March of 93 and for those interested you can Watch-Along with us as part of the WWE Network or The Peacock. Thanks for sticking with the Grenade, and we hope you enjoy this special bonus edition.Available everywhere your Podcast Streaming App needs are met.- Visit our Podcast Network https://wrestlecopia.com- Follow us on Twitter @RasslinGrenade- Follow and LIKE our FACEBOOK PAGE https://www.facebook.com/RasslinGrenade- Subscribe to our Youtube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/RasslinGrenade Originally, we intended for this episode to cover all of the news, notes, and arena result discussion for February 1987 in the WWF… That topic has been postponed until next week… And that's because I had a family emergency that started over the weekend. My grandmother who I have spoken of here from time to time on the show, who raised me from birth… Sadly, she experienced a major health issue Saturday morning pertaining to one of her arteries and underwent emergency heart surgery over the weekend. At 80 years old and with other health issues they really didn't think she would make it through the surgery. But after many of your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes I'm happy to say she DID make it through the surgery, and her circulation is probably the best it's been in 20 years. However, at her age and it being such a major surgery, she has a LONG road to recovery. Lots of therapy ahead in a rehab center to get her back walking and talking so it's still pretty rough emotionally and mentally on the family because even though she had issues getting around, she was always very vibrant and talkative and it's hard seeing her lay there so weak, groggy, unable to lift her head for long periods, and speaking so softly. But I keep telling myself the hardest part is behind her, I hope. She survived and now it's just getting back on her feet which is going to take some time. I thank all of the loyal Grenadiers out there, our listeners, for their support. With that said, we will pick back up with 1987 in the WWF NEXT WEEK when we begin to cover February 1987 on the road to WrestleMania 3. The Hart Foundation win the Tag Team Titles, Referee Danny Davis is FINALLY fired by Prez Jack Tunney, Barry Darsow replaces Randy Colley as Smash in Demolition, Outback Jack makes his in-ring debut, Andre the Giant officially makes his heel turn when he challenges Hulk Hogan to a Championship Match IN THE WRESTLEMANIA… and so much more. But for this week, given the brief time I had to put something together… For those who followed us before the 1987 project, you know that we did an extensive deep dive into the year of 1993 in the WWF… and that included all of the PPVs including WrestleMania IX… Mega MANIACS challenging Money Inc, Undertaker vs. Giant Gonzalez, Perfect vs. Narcissist, and WWF Champ Bret Hart battling Yokozuna… But with a week away from Mania… The WWF hosted a 2-hour special on USA dubbed the March to WrestleMania IX… One final monster push for the PPV with the likes of Macho Man Randy Savage taking on Yokozuna, The Undertaker going up against Bam Bam Bigelow, Kamala exacting revenge on his former handler Kim Chee, Mr. Perfect takes on Skinner in the final appearance of the alligator man gimmick, mixed tag action with Bushwhackers & Tiger Jackson (future Dink) vs. The Beverly Brothers & Little Louie. Plus action involving Tatanka, Money Inc, we'll see IC Champion Shawn Michaels, Crush hunts for Octopus, or is it Octopi? AND a DRUG INFUSED promo from the MEGA MANIACS that you'll never forget. You'll have to stay tuned and listen, you don't want to miss it. So here it is guys, from our PATREON EXCLUSIVE Watch-Along Series… One of MANY watch-alongs featured on the All Access Tier of https://www.patreon.com/wrestlecopia for the LOW LOW price of just $5 per month. No subscription, cancel anytime. I promise the Mega Maniacs coked-out promo IS intact for your listening pleasure… Steve Eckstat along for the ride on this episode as my co-host. THIS IS the WWF's March to WrestleMania IX… WWF MARCH TO WRESTLEMANIA IX - THE WATCH-ALONG "Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Yokozuna You won't want to miss the Drug-Infused MEGA MANIACS PROMO, Brother. This has to be heard to be believed… Mr. Perfect vs. Skinner Kamala vs. Kimchee The Bushwhackers & Tiger Jackson vs. Beverly Brothers & Little Louie The Undertaker vs. Bam Bam Bigelow Plus Tatanka, IC Champion Shawn Michaels, Tag Team Champs Money Inc, Crush searches for Octopus, and more… ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Just three months in the WWE, they defeated the North and South Connection (Adrain Adonis & Dick Murdoch) to become the new World Tag Team Champions. They would lose to the Foreign Legion and regain their titles again as two time champs. Their championship run did not last as they fell to the Dream Team (Brutus the Barber Beefcake and Greg Valentine). The tag team broke up and had successful singles competition careers. On Jan 21, 1980, Wild Samoans debuted at Madison Square Garden and defeated the champions Ivan Putski & Tito Santana. However, the result was a double countout and the titles remained with Putski and Santana. On April 12, 1980, nearly three months later, Wild Samoans got their revenge and executed their signature move, double headbutt with their finisher, Samoan Drop, for the pin and became tag team champions.
