She trains, boards and teaches lessons at Oak Hill in both Hunter/Jumper and Western Reining. Oak Hill Farm has been a horse provider at hundreds of horse shows in the catch riding format including IHSA, IEA, AEL and NCEA. Deb is also the Vice President of the NHHJA and judges local shows and stewards for IEA and AEL.

Jason Manson was a QB at the University of Iowa from 2002-2006. After 15 years away from Iowa City he now returns as the Director of Player Development. The Director of Player Development serves as a guide for student-athletes as they transition from high school to college, supporting their academic and football successes while creating a positive and memorable college experience. Manson has been involved in high school administration and coaching since the end of his Hawkeye playing career. He has held the position of assistant Dean of Students and head football coach at St. Thomas More School the last two years. In 2018-19 he served as student management assistant at Greater Hartford (Conn.) Academy of the Arts and head football coach at Capital Prep. Manson, a native of Bloomfield, Conn., was the head football coach at Capital Preparatory Magnet School from 2014-18, while also serving as director of college and career readiness. He also served as a position coach at Central Connecticut State University from 2010-14, instructor and offensive coordinator at Milford Academy in 2008-09, wide receivers coach at Becker College in 2007 and Western Connecticut State. As a player at Iowa, Manson lettered in 2005 and 2006, playing both quarterback and wide receiver. His career totals include completing 42-85 pass attempts for 442 yards and one touchdown. He had 22 career rushing attempts for 93 yards and three pass receptions for 22 yards. Manson led Iowa to a double-overtime win at Syracuse in 2006 in his only start at quarterback. We talk about his transition back into the program, the things that have changed and the things that have stayed the same, and the fast paced environment of D1 football. We also discuss Jason's thought process from his perspective as last years Iowa football controversy played out, and how that affected his mindset in trying to return and coach/work in the program. But with three more liberal arts colleges closing this spring, including Becker College, Mills College, and Concordia College New York, those prognostications are coming out again.

Sam Jacques was raised in the Lower East Side of Manhattan where he attended/volunteers at many grassroots community programs. Sam attended Cardinal Hayes High School in Bronx, New York, where he was a student athlete. Sam went on to Becker College in Worcester, MA where he studied sports management. Prior to working at The Bronx Defenders, Sam worked at The Boys' Club Of New York as a Coordinator for the Saturday Night Lights program. Saturday Night Lights is a partnership program with the Manhattan District Attorney's office to provide youth with productive time management skills and out of the criminal justice system. Sam also worked at Project Renewal Men's Shelter as a RA where he supported the needs of all clients. In Sam's spare time he serves as a community activist and developed a program called I Can Do Better where he shows his passion for helping those in need.​ During this episode, I sit down with Mr. I Can Do Better, Sam Jacques, to discuss his growing up as a youth in Manhattan's Lower East Side. We also discuss the PTSD associated with the death of his long time friend, Charlie Fernandez and the birth of the I can do better movement. Dr. Allen Schoen was raised in the New York City area. He received his D.V.M. from Cornell University, College of Veterinary Medicine, in 1978. Prior to his veterinary education he earned a Master's Degree in Animal Behavior and Neurophysiology from the University of Illinois. Dr. Schoen also received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Becker College in 1998 for his contributions to Integrative Veterinary Medicine. He was certified in acupuncture by IVAS in 1982. He also has advanced training in botanical medicine, chiropractic, mind/body medicine, and homeopathy.  In 1982, Dr. Schoen established the first Department of Acupuncture outside of China at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. He has been a faculty member at Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Tufts University of College of Veterinary Medicine, and Chi University.  He has also lectured extensively both nationally and internationally and has served as an expert involved in policy formation for the American Veterinary Medical Association.  Dr. Schoen is the co-editor of Complementary and Alternative Veterinary Medicine, Principles and Practice, the editor of both Veterinary Acupuncture: Ancient Art to Modern Medicine, and Problems in Veterinary Medicine: Veterinary Acupuncture. Dr. Schoen's most recent effort is the Compassionate Animal Lover's Movement (CALM). The mission of CALM is for all animal lovers to help co-create a more harmonious world based on the love of our animal family.  Please enjoy this conversation with Dr. Allen Schoen.

John Lento played both golf and hockey at Becker College and is now an Assistant Golf Professional and on the South Florida PGA Tour. He talks about growing up in Paramus, New Jersey, his first love of hockey, playing on a club team where he traveled a lot, and getting into golf a bit later. John describes his two years at Paramus High School where he had a great hockey and golf career, his decision to transfer to the prep school Cushing Academy in Massachusetts, what it was like going to boarding school, the competitive hockey, and working to make the Varsity A Team. John discusses his parents' move to a house in Florida on a golf course and his summers spent on the course. He then details the recruiting process, why he chose Becker College, balancing both hockey and golf, and his decision to leave college early to focus on becoming a professional golfer. John details his job as Assistant Golf Professional at The Club at The Renaissance, the hard work he puts in to help his golf career, and playing on the South Florida PGA tour.

Team Maryland turned heads instantly at the start of the season, and now as we head towards the EHL Playoffs, they are a definite sleeper to keep an eye on in the Mid-Atlantic Conference.Josh Fusco is in his 3rd season in the EHL, and his 1st with Team Maryland. Coming over from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights, Fusco has helped Team Maryland make tremendous strides in just their second season in the league.Evan Green has been with Fusco the past few years, and came over with his coach to serve as the team captain this season. Green and Tristan Mock are the first two commits for Maryland, as the '99 leaders of their team will be joining Becker College together this fall.Green and Mock are each helping to echo the message that Fusco is delivering to his team, with their sights set on Providence, RI, and the 2020 EHL Frozen Finals.
