Mike Silva breaks down the final candidates for the Mets managerial job. He tells you why Buck Showalter is the right fit and why it would be dangerous for Billy Eppler to choose anyone else. He rounds out the show talking about how Kevin Gausman turning down the Mets puts them in a tough spot to improve the starting pitching post-lockout. Max Scherzer has reportedly told the New York Mets that he would prefer if they hired Buck Showalter to become the new manager. Mets beat reporter Pat Ragazzo of Sports Illustrated was the first on the story and he joins the show today to give an update on where things stand in the Mets search for a new manager. Along with discussing the manager search, host Ryan Finkelstein gets Pat's take on how the Mets offseason has gone so far with the hiring of Billy Eppler and the big splash they made in the first wave of free agency. If you want to check out Pat Ragazzo's reporting on Max Scherzer and his preference of having Showalter as his next manager, you can find the story here. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Welcome to Amazin' Avenue Audio (The Show), the new/old favorite from Amazin' Avenue editors Chris McShane and Brian Salvatore. The last time we spoke, the Mets' front office was barren, Qualifying Offers were out, and the future didn't look great for 2022. Then, everything changed. The Mets have a new GM in Billy Eppler, a new co-ace in Max Scherzer, a new center fielder in Starling Marte, a new right fielder in Mark Canha, and a new infielder in Eduardo Escobar. This is a shocking turn of events, especially the Scherzer signing, and Brian and Chris get to most of it. Clem and Kyle fire up an emergency pod to talk about Billy Eppler's explosive Black Friday signings. Eduardo Escobar, Mark Canha and Starling Marte mark the team's turnaround and the tip of the iceberg for much bigger spending. The guys break down each player, how they'll fit into the scheme and clubhouse and which players should still be on Billy Boy's radar. This was the sign we've all been waiting for. The proof that Steve Cohen can flash the cash and the players will line up. Now that we've got a professional outfield and super utility players to lengthen the bench, it's time to set our sights on pitching. The December doomsday clock is already counting down and work stoppage is on the horizon so there will almost certainly be a lot more news and a lot more pods on the way as the Mets aim to wash the disappoint of last year out of their mouths and take back the East. We gotta believe that this is the time we've been waiting for so make sure to follow along on Twitter (@gottabelievepod) and Instagram (@wegottabelieve) to stay up to date on all the news as it happens!

Turns out Thor is more two-faced than Loki as Noah Syndergaard double crossed the Amazin's and skipped town for California. The one time "ace-in-waiting" never fully lived up to anyone's lofty expectations, but we were hopeful for a comeback with the qualifying offer. There were no guarantees that he would take it, but based on his comments and social media posts we thought it was a foregone conclusion. Turns out he wanted to let us down one last time on his way out the door, thus closing the book on the of the Mets' arsenal of aces that we thought would lead us to multiple championships way back in 2015. Instead, like all who have come before him, he parts ways from Flushing with a sour taste in his mouth. The guys break down what Syndergaard meant to the team, his impact on the fans, the larger-than-life persona off the field with little results on it and where the hell we go from here. Make no mistakes about it, this news is shocking. Not because we thought we could rely on him long-term, but because now the Mets have some MASSIVE HOLES to fill in the rotation. Good thing our new GM is on the way? The Mets landed a GM and it ended up being a last resort instead of a first option. The newest general manager of the New York Metropolitans is Billy Eppler. Billy was meant to grab the headlines today and set the fanbase's minds at ease, but instead we're dealing with the Noah fallout. When one fire is put out, the next sparks up. Eppler received a terrible rap while with the Angels and gives fans reason to worry as he was seen as wasting the prime of Trout's career, however, he is a New York guy who rose quickly in the Yankees' ranks before heading west. He's described as a bright young leader who was served a raw deal by the Halos, but whether or not that's true is anyone's guess. Only time will tell on whether Billy Boy is our guy, but one thing's for certain, we gotta believe that he's just a stepping stone to greater things ahead.
