BROWNSVILLE, Texas - Cameron County Commissioners Court is moving ahead with plans to purchase an ownership interest in the Brownsville & Matamoros Bridge Company from Union Pacific Railroad.Brownsville & Matamoras Bridge Company co-owns Brownsville & Matamoros Bridge with the government of Mexico. Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr., said a complex negotiation process to acquire ownership began two years ago. He said the transaction is expected to close in late 2025 or early 2026.“Securing the Brownsville & Matamoros Bridge Company is a transformative moment for Cameron County. We are preserving a vital piece of binational infrastructure and deepening our partnership with Mexico to support binational transportation, commerce, tourism and cultural exchange, which has a tremendously positive impact on Cameron County and the entire Rio Grande Valley,” Treviño said.Treviño spoke about the negotiations in an interview with Ron Whitlock Reports at the conclusion of this week's commissioners court meeting. "Mia nonna e il Conte" di Emanuele Trevi e "Inventario di quel che resta dopo che la foresta brucia" di Michele RuolCaratteristica di Emanuele Trevi, Premio Strega nel 2021 con "Due vite" (Neri Pozza), è quella di mettere insieme memorie personali, fatti realmente accaduti, riflessioni filosofiche, esistenziali e psicoanalitiche. Rientra in queste caratteristiche anche "Mia nonna e il Conte" (Solferino), un libro in cui Trevi ricorda la nonna Peppinella quando, superati gli 80 anni, fece un incontro speciale con un uomo, un conte, appassionato della storia dei Borbone. Due persone molto diverse che entrarono in sintonia profonda e si incontravano quasi ogni giorno nel giardino di casa della nonna, in Calabria. Quello stesso giardino dove Trevi passava molto tempo e scoprì l'amore per la lettura e la scrittura. Nella seconda parte parliamo di "Inventario di quel che resta dopo che la foresta brucia" di Michele Ruol (Terra Rossa) che è stato finalista al Premio Strega 2025. Si narra la storia di Madre e Padre, così vengono chiamati nel romanzo, e di Maggiore e Minore, i due figli che sono morti in un incidente non ben precisato. Questa è la storia dell'attraversamento di quel dolore da parte di Madre che lascia il lavoro, si isola, non vuole sapere nulla del processo, e da parte di Padre che reagisce invece buttandosi nel lavoro. Ma questa è anche la narrazione dei rapporti familiari prima dell'incidente, prima della tragedia, perché in ogni famiglia ci sono "non detti" che pesano.
