Paranormal Experience with Susan Slaughter on the Melissa Billie Clark Show - Making a Difference My story starts in my home town in Miami where I discovered my appetite for mystery, adventure, and paranormal. I wasn't raised traditionally. My mother, who is Nicaraguan, married my father who is German/Wiccan but insisted I be baptized Catholic under her strict faith. She later remarried a Buddhist Pilot/ Survivalist from France when I was only in elementary school. Needless to say, I grew up knowing and learning a lot about different religious and cultural backgrounds from a tender age. It's important to give these bits of information about myself so you can understand how I was groomed to be a spiritually aware and adventurous child that bled into every aspect of who I am today. I had my first paranormal experience when I was about 5 or 6, hiked the Appalachian Trail when I was 11, studied zoology and herpetology when I was 13-15 and joined the League of Paranormal Investigators when I was 19. By age 19 I had traveled to Nicaragua, Costa Rica, France, Italy, Czech Republic, Belgium, and The Netherlands. Traveling is in my blood! I have since been to a load of other countries, which leads me to my next paragraph. Most people know of my expertise through my stint on the Ghost Hunters franchise. On Ghost Hunters Academy, thousands applied, 8 were chosen to compete, I won. I won a spot on whichever Ghost Hunters show I wanted to be on. I obviously chose to go International. Even though I knew it wouldn't have the longevity of the famous domestic team, I had to go where I could see and discover the rest of the world. I've investigated in over 30 countries with GHI. I've gone spelunking in wet cave systems 2 miles underground to discover Mayan treasures left behind almost 3,000 years ago. Discovered hidden rooms containing secret WW2 documents in a Ukrainian castle. Uncovered lost tombs of members of The Knight's Templar in secret tunnels under the Danube River in Serbia. I have even repelled into a recently excavated Incan temple in the Andes to discover an alien stone that resonated vibrations on its own! Honestly, I could die tomorrow without any regret. I'm not just some “on-camera talent” that is into ghosts and mystery when the cameras are rolling. I have been actively pursuing the paranormal field off-camera, fueled by my own inquiring mind and finances. I have been investigating with teams all over the US, speaking at conventions, universities, and events on paranormal subjects. I'm a founding member of an independent paranormal outlet called The Dark Zone online where I've written/directed/produced/hosted my own series. I even have an excerpt I wrote on possessions in a German paranormal journal on (obviously) paranormal phenomena. I've been featured on shows like The Nerdist's Bizarre States, Dread Central's Brain Waves, and in books like Haunted By History. Currently, I review footage of paranormal phenomena for a series on TRVL channel called Paranormal Caught On Camera and have been stretching my acting chops in a few indie horror features that have been featured in film festivals and theaters worldwide. When I'm not investigating the paranormal I spend my time reading up on esoteric subjects and magick and curate a music/film event known as SlaughterHaus. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/melissabillieclark/support

When in the city of Angeles you can’t help but look for ghosts at some of LA’s legendary hotels, especially the notorious Alexandria Hotel, Mission Inn and Hotel Cecil.  Meet the man behind Bizarre Los Angeles, Craig Owens. Craig’s an LA-based writer and photographer who began staging vintage style photo shoots at haunted hotels as an idea for an Old Hollywood themed project. Little did he know that while on location, he he would catch his first ghost on film. This left him wondering if his photo shoots were somehow triggering paranormal activity. Craig’s book, "Haunted by History, Vol. 1," earned a Publishers Weekly Star Review. His encyclopedic knowledge of each hotel's history, paired with his haunting photography and sense of humor has made him a favorite of historical societies and ghost enthusiasts alike. His next volume, featuring the true histories of eight more haunted Southern California hotels, will be released in 2019. He’s appeared on "My Ghost Story: Caught on Film" about an apparition at the Palomar Inn in Old Town Temecula. Since that time, he's been quoted in James Bartlett's book, "Gourmet Ghosts 2," and Colin Dickey's book: "Ghostland: An American History in Haunted Places." More recently, he has appeared on Nerdist's popular "Bizarre States" online podcast, and has been featured in "Los Angeles Magazine," and "NBC Los Angeles." https://bizarrela.com https://www.facebook.com/bizarrelosangeles     Ghost Magnet Facebook Group:  https://www.facebook.com/Ghost-Magnet-with-Bridget-Marquardt-2480154975336666/   Bridget Marquardt Bridget Marquardt is best known to television audiences and pop-culture connoisseurs as the sweet and brainy star of E! At that time, he was as a seven-year-old boy playing on the grounds of a Southern plantation known as Waverley, located outside of West Point, Mississippi. While Waverley’s owners admitted to seeing and hearing the ghost of a young female child, Craig never encountered her. Yet the atmosphere and history of Waverley stayed with him long after his family moved to Texas. In 1994, he moved to Los Angeles and began to work freelance in the film and television industry. His production credits include Fudge (1995), The Christmas Box (1995), Wag the Dog(1997), Phone Booth (2002), and The Gilmore Girls (2000-2001). In 2002, Craig left film production to work for the Century City Chamber of Commerce and later the International Cinematographers Guild, I.A.T.S.E. Local 600. While working for the chamber of commerce, he contributed articles for the Century City View and wrote the History of Century City. In 2009, Craig began staging vintage style photo shoots at haunted hotels as an idea for an Old Hollywood themed project. While on location, he experienced paranormal activity. This left him wondering if his photo shoots were somehow triggering it. The following year, he started his Facebook blog, Bizarre Los Angeles, a page dedicated to Los Angeles’ forgotten history. He also continued to hold vintage photos shoots at haunted locations. Little did he know that his love for haunted hotels would bring media attention. In 2013, he appeared on My Ghost Story: Caught on Film after he unintentionally photographed an apparition at the Palomar Inn in Old Town Temecula, California. The following year, the online magazine, The Verge, published an article on his paranormal experiences at the Aztec Hotel in Monrovia, California. Craig Owens has now gained notoriety for his photography and his passion for historical research. He has also appeared in other people’s books, including Gourmet Ghosts 2 by James T. Bartlett and Ghostland: An American History in Haunted Places by Colin Dickey. He has also been featured in articles published on Los Angeles Magazine and NBC Los Angeles. While he firmly believes that ghosts exist, he is reluctant to accept all paranormal stories. He instead approaches the subject with a good deal of skepticism, preferring to err on the side of not believing enough. He also encourages his readers to form their own opinions as to whether ghosts are real, and warns people not to believe in ghost legends unless the legends are supported by historical fact.   https://bizarrela.com https://www.facebook.com/bizarrelosangeles     About Haunted By History, Volume 1 Haunted by History, Volume I, by Craig Owens uncovers little known facts about eight prominent historic hotels in Southern California and the origins behind many of their ghost stories. Not only does his well-documented research separate facts from fiction, but Owens also keeps the subject matter interesting by interweaving historic photos with his own elaborately staged Old Hollywood-style photos shot in the most haunted rooms, hallways, and lobbies. This unique book blends solid research, fascinating insights, and haunting photography that will appeal to believers and non-believers alike. Hotels and inns featured in Vol. 1 are the Hotel del Coronado, Victorian Rose Bed & Breakfast, Julian Gold Rush Hotel, Mission Inn Hotel & Spa, Alexandria Hotel, Wyndham Garden Pierpont Inn, Banning House Lodge, and Glen Tavern Inn. https://www.amazon.com/Haunted-History-Separating-Historic-California/dp/0997688106

Self-driving cars: the greatest automotive industry disruption since Henry Ford’s Model-T assembly line… just around the corner. Right? That’s the hype—but is it reality? Are we mere blocks away from our neighborhood streets and freeways being filled with autonomous cars? Find out in the premiere episode of AI: Hype vs. Reality, a new podcast and video series in which Jessica Chobot, veteran host of Nerdist News and Bizarre States, puts present-day artificial intelligence technology to the test in real-world situations. And separates the hype from reality. In this inaugural episode, “AI That Drives”, Jessica talks with Dell Technologies’ emerging tech lead, Dave Graham, to get some context behind the hype around self-driving cars and what’s standing in the way of autonomous cars taking over our roadways. Guest Ram Vasudevan from the University of Michigan discusses the #1 concern—safety—and the data behind predicting pedestrian behavior. And guest Tim Sylvester explains his company’s, Integrated Roadways, solution to moving mass amounts of data between cars and between the car and the road—turning the road itself into a smart wireless network. Finally, after Jessica speaks with Ragavan Thurairatnam, cofounder and chief of machine learning at Dessa about the challenges of programming self-driving cars, she heads to the University of Toronto to take an experimental autonomous car named Zeus out for a spin. Hear how her adventure ends (spoiler: not everything goes according to program) and decide for yourself: self-driving cars—hype or reality? Want to watch Jessica’s test drive? Head here to see the action unfold.
