Thursday afternoon means a fresh episode of Real Life was recorded and edited, and it's ready to help you wrap up the week. On today's podcast, the guys discussed the Mike Babcock press conference, the rain in Edmonton, the NBA Draft, and much more. The guys kicked off this week's episode of Real Life with a conversation about LEGO. Why? Because the boys did absolutely no prep before the show and it was literally the first thing that came to mind. Yet, talking about Tyler doing LEGO sets opened up a conversation about reclaiming attention, and doing what you can to have more moments without your phone glued to your hand. Needless to say, the start of today's podcast was as scattered as ever. Shifting gears, the boys discussed the video Chalmers posted on his Instagram of him falling on his ass. Everyone knows how much rain there's been in Edmonton over the last few days, but seeing a video of Chalmers wiping out was a nice little dose of sunshine. Sticking with the rain, Chalmers continued on with a story about one of his rental properties flooding because it's amazing how often things go wrong when unexpected weather happens. Finally, the guys wrapped up the podcast on the Thursday episode of Real Life with a run of topics, starting with the Mike Babcock press conference, and how his answers to questions were as weird as they were avoidant. Either way, the team has made its decision, and we're starting off the Mike Babcock era no matter what anyone things. From there, the boys discussed some of the massive NHL trades that have happened this week, which somehow led to Chalmers sharing an interesting observation from the NBA draft. Hosted on Acast. It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Mike Babcock press conference, Jason Dickinson's new deal, Connor Murphy re-signing, line combinations, and more.We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the Mike Babcock press conference, and what everyone thought about our first look at the team's newest coach. While everyone was curious how today was going to go, what wasn't overly surprising was that Mike Babcock didn't really answer those questions with any honesty. Whether it was his refusing to admit faults in Columbus or tap-dancing some of the tougher questions, there are still plenty of unanswered questions that will only be solved in time. Shifting gears, the guys continued on with Babcock conversation by wondering what they think is most likely to come next now that the press conference is done. We got some free agents signed this week in Jason Dickinson and Connor Murphy, but with free agency kicking off in just over a week, we're about to find out if having Babcock behind the bench will impact the calibre of player the Oilers might attract. While it was great that Dickinson and Murphy believed in the team enough to extend, that doesn't necessarily mean the same will be true for players who Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, the first edition of Reece's Game, which ended up being tennable, and a quick chat on what to expect from Canada's matchup against Switzerland at the World Cup. If Canada draws or wins, they will punch their ticket through to the round of 32. If they win, they will begin the round at home instead of having to travel abroad. Needless to say, the footy fever is alive and well at Nation HQ.

The NHL offseason kicked into overdrive as Brady Tkachuk was dealt to the Florida Panthers, creating a family reunion with brother Matthew while leaving the Senators armed with a haul of draft picks but little immediate help. The move reignited discussion about top American players leaving Canadian markets, a trend also reflected in Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck situation as the Jets search for help down the middle and on defence. In Edmonton, the Oilers locked up trade-deadline acquisitions Connor Murphy and Jason Dickinson to long-term deals while appearing poised to hire Mike Babcock, raising questions about whether a coach whose challenge in Toronto was getting the Leafs into the playoffs can now help a contender take the final step. Elsewhere, Jason Robertson’s contract talks in Dallas appear headed toward a crossroads, Buffalo continues to weigh its options involving Bowen Byram and Alex Tuch, and Toronto made a bold bet by acquiring and signing Darren Raddysh to a lengthy extension while trade speculation surrounding Matthew Knies continues despite questions about how moving a player of his calibre would actually improve the Leafs in their current situation.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
