Queen ShanShan sips controversial “tea” in Episode 8. Today she explores a hot and controversial topic that is on everyone's mind with a private Catholic high school teacher named Danny. Danny and Queen ShanShan discuss the viral video that showed Covington High School Students from Kentucky who were on a field trip to Washington D.C. taunting an elderly American Native Indian, Nathan Philips. Nick Sandmann, the Catholic high school student from Covington High School, who was mostly featured as the teen wearing the infamous MAGA hat stood his ground while smirking at Mr. Philips. Most will say he was just standing there smirking and meant no harm, but most will also argue it was a disrespectful way of expressing his Freedom of Expression. What's your opinion about the “Smirk heard around the world?” Was it disrespectful to confront the elderly man who was simply banging his ancestral drums in protest? We also discuss how ‘SHOOK' we were when we saw ICONIC supermodel and veteran to the fashion world Naomi Campbell at New York Fashion Week. The audience clutched their pearls when Ms. Campbell returned to the home she made famous. This is a juicy episode, so get your cocktails ready and be ready to engage. So tighten up those panties or tighty whiteys, relax, sit back and listen to... White people: can y'all stop? Between the disgusting verdict in the Laquan Mcdonald case, the viral video of Covington High School's grotesque display towards a Native American protester, & Mike Pence's wife taking a job at a Christian school that bans LGBT students and then crying about "attacks on Christianity," we had a lot to lecture you on this week. We dove deep into these topics as always and further discussed our horribly broken justice system, why if you are more enraged when I call police pigs than when an unarmed black teenager is murdered you are part of the problem, how your beliefs do not get to infringe on other peoples' existence, tribalism as a whole, and more issues that will probably boil some white privileged blood!
Adam and Mark open this week's episode of Reasonable Doubt talking about how fast time flies, especially when you're doing what you love. After that, Mark talks about Harvey Weinstein's new lawyers after his former council Ben Brafman was let go. Before they wrap, Mark teases next week's episode which will be focused on the infamous Fyre Festival failure and the documentaries that have been recently released about the ordeal.
A little over a week ago a group of students from Covington High School outside of Memphis, TN went to Washington D.C. These students showed up at the tail end of a rally by Native Americans and a viral video that has put America in a racial uproar once again concerning race. A bunch of kids was reportedly mocking "Mr. Nathan" a Native American drummer by doing the tomahawk chop and he responded back to them by walking up to them and beating his drum. It is unclear who recorded the video, but the incident seems somewhat choreographed and staged just for a moment like this. "Mr. Nathan" has been plastered all over the media as the villain in the whole incident as these not so squeaky clean kids are being portrayed as innocent bystanders at the wrong place. This is America... --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/10se7enliveshow/message

He is the author of numerous books including his most recent Under the Affluence: Shaming the Poor, Praising the Rich and Sacrificing the Future of America. Wise explains how the Covington High School Trump mob's racist mocking and harassment of Native American elder Nathan Phillips in Washington, D.C. is an example of white privilege in action, how white racial innocence is presumed to always be operative in America, the ways that white folks--especially white conservatives--are rarely held responsible for their racist behavior, and the many ways that teachers and parents and other adults have failed to properly educate the white Trump teen MAGA mob. Tim Wise also shares what he would tell the Covington High School teenage Trumpsters if he was invited to give a talk or training at their school. On this week's show, Chauncey DeVega shares some recent examples of horrible and abominable behavior including Donald Trump and Mike Pence trying to claim Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy as their own, how the Trump regime wants to kill the "useless eaters" by cutting food stamps--again, and how 26 billionaires have more money than 3.8 billion people on the whole planet. Ever been somewhere and people around you start doing something out of the norm to the point of it being uncomfortable? That's a lack of couth and decorum. Well this week the world decided to go down that path and Jason Patton and Gary Weed join Mark Bland to discuss all of it. If you haven't been under a rock, you know the story about the kids in MAGA hats getting in the face of a Native American man at a pro-life rally in Washington DC. The story has caught massive attention because of a few things. 1. How the media reported the original incident 2. How the children from Covington High school treated the elder Native man 3. The use of the Trump hat as a sign of the times 4. The discussion of parents and where were the adult supervisors in the situation Mark and the guys discuss these 4 things as they traverse the world of decorum and where we are as a society in 2019. ALSO...the LA Rams made it to the Super Bowl against the Patriots and Gary is a huge Rams fan. This led to some online back and forth between Mark and Gary (being on opposite sides of the game) and a GRIEVANCE once again presented itself. Both Mark and Gary have their complaint and they bring it to the table to discuss live on the air. Who was in the right or wrong? Or were neither? You find out! Finally, Covington High School, just couldn't get out of their own way. Once the media storm hit, they got caught with video from a basketball game. This is important because of the MAGA hat and their involvement with something people considered a little off color....well it becomes really off color when the same school from the mass hysteria also seems to have a somewhat racist belief its okay to do blackface, even accentuating the eyes and lips with white makeup like Al jolson did. This wasn't kids making a mistake...this was kids being okay'd by their parents to get away with something the parents knew better about. The guys break all this down and much more on this episode of the Q!
By now, you've probably seen this picture... ...and heard about Gillette's new ad, The Best Men Can Be Maybe you've even heard about the American Psychological Association's Guidelines for Psychological Practice with Boys and Men, which some applaud and some condemn. (Two recent headlines: "Toxic Masculinity is Under Attack. And That's Fine," from a left-leaning website, and "The American Psychological Association Has Made Choosing a Therapist Easy," from a right-leaning site.) Discussion of these videos, pictures and guidelines have dominated social media recently -- for better and for worse. For better: People are publicly discussing masculinity and the expectations placed on boys and men. For worse: Many people are jumping to conclusions without looking at the actual source material. In many corners, "discussion" has devolved into shouting. In this episode, Jen & Janet dive in & discuss: The APA Guidelines for Psychological Practice with Boys and Men The Gillette ad, The Best Men Can Be The encounter between the boys of Covington High School, tribal elder Nathan Phillips and the Black Hebrew Israelites Note: On 1/21/19, Twitter suspended an account which spread the initial 1-minute video of the encounter in DC after realizing that the account was likely part of a network of anonymous accounts that were working to amplify the video. Soon after that initial, short video sparked outrage, a longer, nearly 2-hour video of the encounter was posted on YouTube to an account called "John Duncan." As of 1/23/19, no one seems to know who recorded or posted the video. One journalist Jen spoke with said, "We all have serious questions about the origins of the vids and related content and the fact that finding a human attached to any of it proves elusive."
