(Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark North Korea tortures, publicly executes, imprisons Christians The Database Center for North Korean Human Rights released their 2024 White Paper on Religious Freedom in North Korea. The research is based on the accounts of North Koreans who defected to South Korea. It includes over 15,000 responses and over 2,000 cases of persecution. Ninety-six percent of respondents said that religious activities are not permitted in North Korea. And only 5% report having seen religious items like a Bible.  Yeo-sang Yoon, director of the North Korean Human Rights Archives, noted, “Right now, people [of faith] are being tortured, sent to concentration camps, or publicly executed.” North Korea remains the worst country on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian.  Young Brits more likely to have Christian faith than be atheist OnePoll released a survey this month entitled, “Belief in Britain.”  The study of 10,000 people found atheism is losing influence on younger generations. Only 13% of those aged 18-24 identify as atheist compared to 25% of those aged 45-64. Younger people were also the most likely to identify as religious, meaning they worship regularly and ascribe to a specific belief system.  DeepSeek, a Chinese AI, beats ChatGBT DeepSeek, a Chinese artificial intelligence company, released a large language model last week. The Artificial Intelligence assistant quickly outperformed ChatGPT in downloads at the Apple App Store. DeepSeek's app surprised experts, performing better than American AI chatbots despite being produced with less money and computing power.  The news sent the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite down 3% on Monday. U.S. chipmaker Nvidia led the losses, dropping 17% or nearly $600 billion in market value. It's the largest one-day loss for any company.  Trump bans woke gender ideology from military President Donald Trump signed executive orders on Monday to keep radical gender ideology and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives out of the military. Trump noted, “Consistent with the military mission and longstanding [Dept. of Defense] policy, expressing a false ‘gender identity' divergent from an individual's sex cannot satisfy the rigorous standards necessary for military service.” Trump's orders also offer reinstatement for troops who faced expulsion for not getting the COVID-19 shot during the pandemic. Supreme Court considers a religious charter school case Last Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to hear a case involving the first publicly funded religious charter school. Oklahoma's state school board approved a Catholic church to open a charter school. St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School was set to begin classes in August 2023. But the state's supreme court ruled against the approval. The case is now before the U.S. Supreme Court. Jim Campbell with Alliance Defending Freedom said, “The U.S. Constitution protects St. Isidore's freedom to operate according to its faith and supports the board's decision to approve such learning options for Oklahoman families.”  California ends prosecution of two pro-life activists Praise God! The state of California agreed to end its prosecution of two pro-life activists on Monday. David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt have faced years of litigation and millions of dollars in fines for their pro-life work. Their undercover videos exposed Planned Parenthood's illegal sale of the body parts of aborted babies. David and Sandra shared the videos through their organization The Center for Medical Progress.  David said, “After enduring nine years of weaponized political prosecution, putting an end to the lawfare launched by Kamala Harris is a huge victory for my investigative reporting and for the public's right to know the truth about Planned Parenthood's sale of aborted baby body parts. Now we all must get to work to protect families and infants from the criminal abortion-industrial complex.” Proverbs 24:11 says, “Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter.” Christians minister to victims of California fires And finally, Christians continue to provide relief to those affected by wildfires in California. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Chinese democracy activists get prison time The Chinese Communist government in Hong Kong has sentenced 45 democracy activists to prison time. The activists had participated in a political party for a primary not approved of by the state. At least two Christians, Benny Tai, age 60, and Joshua Wong, age 28, were among those sent to prison. Finnish officials cancel concert featuring Handel's Messiah A school in the former Christian-influenced nation of Finland cancelled a concert featuring segments of Handel's Messiah.  According to a news report from the Helsingin Salomat paper, the cancelled concert would have been a joint performance by the Finnish Baroque Orchestra and the Helsinki Chamber Choir. Biden-Harris Dept of Ed. persecuting Christian colleges The American Principles Project has released a report charging the Biden administration's Department of Education with persecuting Christian colleges. The report cites that nearly 70% of penalties imposed by the Department of Education's Office of Enforcement has been against Christian institutions and career colleges, even though these schools represent less than 10% of college students. And, within the last year, the Biden-Harris Department of Education imposed record fines against two of the nation's most prominent Christian universities.  It fined Grand Canyon University a whopping $37.7 million for allegedly “not fully informing” students about the costs of its doctoral programs on its website. University officials “categorically” denied the allegation. And the education bureaucrats levied a $14 million fine against Liberty University for alleged violations which stem from a failure to comply with crime-reporting requirements.  The Department's penalty, the largest ever for the category, hardly fits the accusation— especially considering steps the school voluntarily took to remedy its reporting and agreed to spend $2 million towards “on-campus safety improvements and compliance enhancements.” By comparison, Michigan State University was only fined $4.5 million in 2019 for failing to report sexual abuses by former team doctor Larry Nassar, who assaulted hundreds of victims The fines of the Christian colleges amount to more than all other penalties assessed by the Department of Education over the past seven years. Also, the report points out that funding for the heavy-handed enforcement has increased from $4 million to $61 million just since 2023. Planned Parenthood gave hearts of aborted babies to scientists Stomach-churning emails show Planned Parenthood negotiating terms regarding the donation of aborted fetuses for medical research, reports the New York Post. The emails discuss fetal tissue like any other commodity such as sugar or rice, nonchalantly negotiating for dead babies who were alive up to 23 weeks gestation from elective abortions. A heavily-redacted so-called “Research Plan” submitted to the University of California San Diego Institutional Review Board, and approved in 2018, states scientists wanted 2,500 dead babies from up to almost the sixth month of gestation for experimentation.  The plan gruesomely states, “We will collect tissues from fetuses ranging from 4 to 23 weeks gestational age from subjects undergoing elective surgical pregnancy termination at Planned Parenthood in San Diego.” Although selling fetal tissue is illegal, donating it is not illegal. The contract between University of California San Diego and Planned Parenthood appears to allow Planned Parenthood to retain “intellectual property rights” relating to the fetal tissue, although it also does not grant the school the independent right to “commercialize” the tissue.  David Daleiden, pro-life journalist and the founder of the Center for Medical Progress, obtained the emails by filing a California public records request. Let's remember the words of Psalm 94:2-3, 6-7, 8-10.  “Rise up, O Judge of the Earth; repay to the proud what they deserve! O Lord, how long shall the wicked exult? They kill the widow and the sojourner, and murder the fatherless; and they say, ‘The Lord does not see; the God of Jacob does not perceive.' “Understand, O dullest of the people. Fools, when will you be wise? He who planted the ear, does He not hear? He who formed the eye, does He not see? He who disciplines the nations, does He not rebuke?” Joe Biden pardons his son In a surprising turn around, President Joe Biden pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, of several firearms charges, and “all crimes committed between 2014 and 2024,” which could have added up to 17 years prison time, reports The Associated Press. Gun control has played a major part in the 4-year Biden administration. Between 1993 and 2008, while serving in the US Senate, Joe Biden voted against gun rights on all nine bills presented. Democrat Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett of Texas cheered him on. CROCKETT: “Way to go, Joe. Let me be the first one to congratulate the president for deciding to do this. Because, at the end of the day, we know that we have a 34-count convicted felon that is about to walk into the White House. So, for anyone that wants to clutch their pearls now, because he decided that he was going to pardon his son, I would say, take a look in the mirror.” But Scott Jennings, the conservative commentator on CNN, was aghast. JENNINGS: “This is the worst possible thing a president could possibly do to his party and to the country. To sit for a year and say, ‘I will not do this. The rule of law is sacred. We have to respect the justice system. We have to respect juries. We have to respect the guard rails and the norms of our democracy.' “These people are liars. Inflation: it's transitory. Afghanistan: it's a success. The border is secure. Robert Hur is a liar. The videos are cheap fakes. Biden has a cold. He'll never drop out. ‘Oh, I'll never pardon Hunter.' It's all a lie. It is all a grift. “Every American -- except the most partisan, brain-rotted people -- are going to be outraged by this today. He's disgraced. Joe Biden, [White House Press Secretary] Karine Jean-Pierre, how many minutes of tape do we have of both of these people telling the American people this will not happen? We could play it all morning. And it's a lie to benefit his own family. “He's drained every ounce of credibility from every surrogate. If Karine Jean-Pierre had an ounce of self-respect, she'd get off the plane in Africa today, where they're going so he can avoid the press, and resign. He's drained all of her credibility and everybody else who's defended this.” Interestingly, prior to the election, in an interview with Hugh Hewitt, President-elect Donald Trump said he would consider a pardon for Hunter Biden. Biden censors God in Thanksgiving Proclamation In other President Biden news, for the second year in a row, he issued a Thanksgiving proclamation completely avoiding any mention of God, reports Breitbart. Thus far, only Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden have left God out of Thanksgiving. Christians in China Facing the Worst Persecution in Decades Bob Fu, the founder of China Aid, addressed the second International Religious Freedom Summit Asia in Tokyo this week. Fu said Christians in China are facing the worst persecution in decades. FU: “Between 100 to 130 million Chinese Christians are now currently experiencing the worst Christian persecution we have not seen since the cultural revolution in 40 years.” Fu said China has moved from trying to control Christianity to eradicating it. For example, the Chinese Communist Party forbids children from believing in Christianity. Officials encourage family members of Christians to report them. Authorities have also banned private Christian education and many foreign missionaries.  Fu goes on to say that part of eradicating Christianity involves criminalizing aspects of it. FU: “The recent trend shows the Communist party even tried to criminalize the most fundamental elements of Christian worship.  Pastors, one after another, had been arrested for simply putting up an offering box, are now being criminalized as business fraud.  So many pastors already got sentenced from three years, four years, seven years imprisonment for collecting the tithing and offerings.” Please pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ in China, ranked the 19th on the Open Doors' World Watch List of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian.  Christians in Scotland feel Excluded A recent survey from Logos Scotland found most Christians in the country feel excluded from public life. Seventy-percent of respondents believe the Scottish government does not support them. A similar number said they are concerned about abuse leveled at Christian politicians. Most also said they have experienced discrimination for their faith.  Scotland's latest census data from 2022 found people who identify with no religion outnumbered those who do identify with a religion for the first time.  Netanyahu speaks to Congress As reported by NBC News.  Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday delivered an impassioned speech to Congress, taking on protesters inside the House chamber and thousands gathered outside the Capitol. It was his first address to U.S. lawmakers in nearly a decade and the first since Hamas' Oct. 7 terrorist attack on Israel killed 1,200 people and resulted in the taking of over 240 hostages to Gaza, where about 100 are still believed to be held captive. Netanyahu spoke about that day. NETANYAHU: “October 7th is a day that will forever live in infamy.  It was [a] Jewish holiday.  It began as a perfect day - not a cloud in the sky.  Thousands of young Israelis were celebrating at an outdoor music festival.  And suddenly, at 6:29am, 3000 Hamas terrorists stormed into Israel.  They butchered 1200 people from 41 countries, including 39 Americans.  Proportionately, compared to our population size, that's like 29 9/11s in one day.” Netanyahu also emphasized the importance of the US and Israel standing together. NETANYAHU: “This is not a clash of civilizations. It's a clash between barbarism and civilization; between those who glorify death and those who sanctify life.  America and Israel must stand together.” Vice President Harris Secures Democrat Delegates In the U.S., Vice President Kamala Harris has received enough support from Democrat delegates to become her party's nominee for president.  She has secured 3,180 delegates, well over the required 1,976. This comes after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race on Sunday and endorsed Harris. She went on to raise over $80 million for her campaign in the first 24 hours. The Democratic National Convention meets next month and plans to officially select their nominee by August 7. Trump Leads Harris in Polls Former President Donald Trump narrowly leads Vice President Kamala Harris in recent polls, according to Real Clear Politics. Trump led by three points in a CNN poll with an average lead of 1.7 points across recent polls. However, one poll from Reuters/Ipsos gave Harris a two-point lead. With many voters supporting Biden's decision to not run again, Harris is performing better against Trump than Biden did in the polls. Pro-abortion Work of Harris Speaking of Kamala Harris, the Vice President is an outspoken supporter of killing unborn babies. Emily Davis with Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America warned, “American women and babies lose if she's in office, because she will not stop. She knows whom she's beholden to financially. She is the preferred candidate of the abortion lobby.”  Harris is known for targeting pro-life voices. As California's attorney general, she prosecuted whistleblower David Daleiden in 2016. Daleiden had exposed Planned Parenthood's sale of body parts from aborted babies.  In an interview with Fox News Senator Marco Rubio of Florida said this concerning a potential presidency of Kamala Harris. RUBIO: “Kamala Harris is owned by the left.  She is a product of the left wing of the Democratic party, whether it's defunding ICE, getting rid of ICE, defunding the police.  Single payer health care- I know she's changed her positions when she became the vice presidential nominee.  But these are the things she fought for and stood for and voted for when she was a senator, and that's what she'll do when she's president.  She is a committed California left wing Democrat.  And she will be the most radically left president this country will ever have if she were elected.” Proverbs 29:2 says, “When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.” Happy Birthday John Newton! And finally, this week marks the birthday of John Newton. He was born on July 24, 1725 in London. Newton was a captain of slave ships in his early life. While at sea, a severe storm brought him to his spiritual senses, leading to his eventual conversion.  Newton went on to marry, become a pastor, and work to end the slave trade. Newton is probably best known for his hymns. Each week he would write a hymn to a familiar tune. Of his hundreds of hymns, he is especially remembered for “Amazing Grace,” “Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken,” and “How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds!” Newton wrote his own epitaph for his tombstone which says, “JOHN NEWTON. Clerk. Once an infidel and libertine, a servant of slaves in Africa was by the rich mercy of our LORD and SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST preserved, restored, pardoned and appointed to preach the faith he had long laboured to destroy. Near 16 years as Curate of this parish and 28 years as Rector of St. Mary Woolnoth.” Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. Herdsmen also injured 100 Christians in the area recently, displacing thousands. Local officials are calling for people to defend themselves given the national government's inability to curb violence. Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ in Nigeria, ranked ninth on the Open Doors World Watch list of nations where it is most difficult to be a Christian.   Britain now urging caution about transgender foolishness for minors Britain's National Health Service is now urging caution in treating children pretending to be the opposite sex, saying it is generally a “transient phase.” New proposals from the NHS “reflect evidence that in most cases gender incongruence does not persist into adolescence.” The new approach comes after Tavistock Centre shut down. It was the only medical facility in the U.K. dedicated to offering puberty blockers and mutilating surgeries for people with gender confusion.  California court supported Christian baker in “gay” marriage case Last Friday, a California court ruled in favor of a Christian baker who refused to bake a cake for a homosexual wedding ceremony in 2017. Cathy Miller owns Tastries bakery in Bakersfield, California and has faced years of litigation for her Christian beliefs about marriage. In a 2017 interview, Miller said she could not violate her conscience or Scripture. MILLER: “Our family are Christians we love everyone God created everyone there's certain things that violate my conscience my conscience will not allow me to participate in things that I feel are wrong. That's based on Scripture.” 1 Peter 3:15-16 says, “Sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.” Undercover pro-life activist ordered to pay $2.4 million to murder giant Meanwhile, a U.S. federal appeals court ruled David Daleiden and other pro-life activists must pay $2.4 million in fines to Planned Parenthood for conducting an undercover investigation of the abortion giant. The investigation exposed Planned Parenthood's harvesting and selling of baby body parts. The Thomas Moore Society is representing Daleiden and will appeal the decision. Peter Breen, the vice president of the legal group, said, “This decision provides a roadmap for large corporations to shut down and bankrupt investigative journalists who would expose their wrongdoing.” Proverbs 17:15 says, “He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.” White House bracing to lose both House and Senate Reuters reports the White House is bracing for potentially losing both chambers of Congress in the midterms next month. Voter support for Democrats surged in the summer but is now stalling. Meanwhile recent polls show Republicans are gaining ground in Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. In the last couple of months, ABC News and FiveThirtyEight reports that generic-ballot polls are moving toward Republicans. FiveThirtyEight also reports most candidates who think the 2020 presidential election was rigged are favored to win their races.  Students' reading and math scores slump The National Assessment of Educational Progress released their latest report card for U.S. kids this week. Student reading and math scores dropped to lows not seen since the 1990s. The learning setback was evident across every state in the wake of COVID-19 policies that suspended in-person learning.  Only 21% of Americans attend church weekly And finally, a new Rasmussen survey found that most Americans say they are religious but only a minority attend religious services weekly. Sixty-nine percent of U.S. adults consider themselves religious, up from 57% in June 2021. Respondents also report how much they attend religious services: 41% rarely attend or never attend, 21% attend occasionally, 13% attend at least monthly, and 21% attend at least weekly. Forty-two percent of respondents said the U.S. would be better off if more people attended religious services on a regular basis, while 30% said it wouldn't make a difference.
