Darron Lee had a LOUD opinion on social media surrounding the NFL Draft, Current Buckeye Zach Harrison opting to not run the 40 and a ton more. It begs the question... Was he wrong? Maybe doing it publicly on social media to a fellow Buckeye was a little much... but were his points wrong? Was it a former Buckeye trying to help a soon to be NFL Buckeye avoid mistakes he made? Wait til you hear about our NFL ring ceremony concept...Jonah is back in from his Fresh year of college and contributes in a big way. Maria can best be described as mildly bemused and tolerant as the guys propose the following:1) What would you do if you had the Stanley Cup for a day?2) A total reimagining of the NFL Super Bowl ring ceremony. What if NFL Super Bowl rings were turned over every year like the Stanley Cup? 50 yard line, previous winners line up across from new winners and (Benny Hill theme starts playing) each player has to find another one to wear his ring.Would there be Red Carpet event fan overlap for the Super Bowl if there was a week long leadup with players discussing the rings, their potential outfits for the ceremony and who their potential targets might be?If this sounds to you like it might be a terrible idea, maybe you need to ask yourself this question: “If Elvis Grbac, 1994 Michigan Wolverines starting QB, thinks its a great idea...is it possible that maybe I’m the one missing the point?”*If you are an NFL athlete or know an NFL athlete, please explain to us why or how you think this will be successful and who to contact to make it work.*To date, Elvis Grbac is definitely unaware of this idea and may or may not think it’s a good idea. Please visit us at https://thetragedyacademy.com On social media, you can find us at @thetragedyacademypodcast on Instagram, The Tragedy Academy Podcast on Facebook, and @tragedy_academy on Twitter.  Don't forget to subscribe, download, rate, and review! (39:50) Superbowl ring exchange proposal.(38:05) Stanley Cup lightning rod hat viral video. #nfl #football #sports #nba #nfldraft #nflnews #superbowl #nflfootball #life #mlb #espn #nflmemes #americanfootball #madden #touchdown #afc #nfc #comedian #laugh #rogan #bertkreischer #pattonoswalt #offensive #chrisrock #chappelle #equality #collegefootball #fantasy #roto #fantasyfootball #redcarpet #fashion #comedy #funny #hilarious #ridiculous #timanderic #joke #standup #lol #nfl #football #sports #nhl #stanleycup

Since the time of the last podcast, new empowered head coach/interim general manager Adam Gase got to work. The Jets traded former first round pick Darron Lee on Wednesday evening to Kansas City for a sixth round pick, ending a disappointing and tumultuous Jets career. On today's podcast I discuss why the trade made sense, and the Jets got the best out of a bad situation. After discussing Lee, Tony Pauline stops by to talk about what has been going on within the Jets organization over the last few months. Pauline was the first the report that Mike Maccagnan's job was in grave danger due to internal strife with Adam Gase. We discuss some of the tipping points that got us here, how the Jets' reputation is in the NFL, and where things will go from here.  Learn more about your ad choices. It is Thursday, which means it is podcast mailbag day. Thanks to everybody who sent in questions for this week's show. There wouldn't be a mailbag show without mailbag questions, and it was a big response this week. We had so many that I'm thinking of doing a second mailbag on Friday just to try and get to all of them. Today we look at the floor and ceiling of Frankie Luvu, what options remain at the center position, whether Muhammad Wilkerson is worth bringing back on a cheap deal, whether high-risk high-reward is the best strategy in the Draft, whether the Jets should explore a trade of Darron Lee for Pittsburgh's Artie Burns, whether Lee could have a productive role on the team this season, and whether the team should push to bring back Morris Claiborne. Baseball is starting, we are in the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament, and the calendar is about to turn to April. Those things mean that spring is just around the corner. They also mean the NFL Draft is just around the corner as well. On today's podcast we have a Thursday mailbag. Thanks to everybody who submitted mailbag questions. We couldn't do the show without you. If your question went unanswered, feel free to resend it next week.Today's mailbag features questions on whether the Jets would be better served trading down or keeping the third pick, whether a potential Chris Herndon suspension is a major concern, whether Avery Williamson could be traded instead of Darron Lee, what the Jets can expect from Lee, the odds of Mike Maccagnan losing his job over his handling of the center position, and whether center or edge should be the priority in a trade back scenario. Things have started looking considerably brighter for the Jets over the last two weeks. Off last week's domination of the Denver Broncos, New York made it a winning streak on Sunday defeating the Indianapolis Colts 42-34 at MetLife Stadium. Two weeks ago, it felt like the season was going off the rail after an ugly loss at Jacksonville capped a three game losing streak. Now the Jets' record is level at 3-3.On today's podcast we recap the game. The big star for the Jets was Sam Darnold, who had perhaps his first signature performance. We will discuss highlights and what it means for the big picture. We will also discuss some of the other stars of the game, including Jason Myers, Morris Claiborne, and Darron Lee. Tonight the Jets play their third preseason game of 2018. It is their annual preseason contest against the other New York team, the Giants. On today's podcast we take a look at some of the key things to watch. As has been the case during the rest of the preseason, all eyes are on Sam Darnold. The rookie might have a chance to clinch the starting quarterback job in Week 1 tonight if he does not have an ugly outing. Beyond that, we will get to see Darnold with a fuller collection of talent as the Jets are about to get back a number of starters. Terrelle Pryor is another player worth watching as he could make his preseason debut tonight. There might be no bigger wild card on the roster. On the other side of the ball, the defense will look to bounce back after an uneven performance. Darron Lee in particular could use a strong game.On special teams, the kicking competition is unsettled..We will discuss all of these things and more on the show today. This week on the podcast we have taken a look at who are wild cards for the Jets and players who are safe bets to produce.Today we look at players who have something to prove. It is technically true that every player on the roster has something to prove this season. Many of the players are long-shots to even make the roster. Those players are simply trying to prove they deserve a spot in the NFL.I tried to avoid cases like that and focus on players who will likely make the roster and could plausibly contribute to the team if things go right. The five players I name have different things to prove. In a way, all have either their future with the Jets hanging in the balance this year, their career hanging in the balance this year, or both. They are Lorenzo Mauldin, Ardarius Stewart, Brian Winters, Darron Lee, and Teddy Bridgewater.
