Mooney is known for being a Saturday Night Live cast member from 2013 to 2022. Mooney is also in the film, along with somebody special who shows up in the third act that we won't spoil here. The movie features a stacked late 90s soundtrack. This could be a late 90s nostalgia slam dunk, but is it? We'll let you know in this packed episode we assembled for Y2K!

This Christmas Day, The Filmlosophers are taking a trip back to a simpler time… a time of dial-up internet, frosted tips, and widespread panic about the impending digital apocalypse. They're unwrapping 2024's Y2K, a film that explores the unique anxieties and cultural landscape of the late 90s/early 2000s. As you unwrap your presents, join them as they unwrap the layers of this nostalgic throwback, contrasting the warm, fuzzy feelings of the holidays with the cold, hard fear of technological collapse. Was it really that bad? Or are we just looking back with rose-tinted, pixelated glasses? (Contains spoilers for Y2K.)

We review the disaster comedy/horror film starring Jaeden Martell, Rachel Zegler, and Julian Dennison
In this week's episode of The Discourse, host Mike DeAngelo rewinds to a pre-digital apocalypse while chatting with Kyle Mooney about his upcoming film, “Y2K.” The comedy follows two high school outcasts determined to crash the biggest New Year's Eve party of their lives on December 31, 1999 - the dreaded eve of Y2K. When the clock strikes midnight, the night spins wildly out of control in ways they never expected. Written and directed by Mooney (“Saturday Night Live,” “Brigsby Bear”), the movie stars Jaeden Martell, Rachel Zegler, Fred Durst, Julian Dennison, Kyle Mooney and more. During the podcast, Mooney shared how his long-standing fascination with the Y2K phenomenon and teenage nostalgia led to the creation of “Y2K" and much, much more. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/theplaylist/support

Thank you for listening to the Following Films Podcast. Today I have two interviews. Up first I'm joined by Jaden Martell and Maxwell Jenkins to discuss their work on the new Nicholas Cage starring film ARCADIAN. The film is set in the near future, where normal life on Earth has been decimated. Paul and his two sons, Thomas and Joseph, have been living a half-life – tranquility by day and torment by night. Every night, after the sun sets, they face the unrelenting attacks of a mysterious and violent evil. One day, when Thomas doesn't return home before sundown, Paul must leave the safety of their fortified farm to find him. A nightmarish battle ensues that forces the family to execute a desperate plan to survive. Then after the break, I'm joined by Larry Fessenden to discuss his latest film BLACKOUT. Writer-director Larry Fessenden has created some of the most original and memorable independent horror films of the last 25 years. His latest, BLACKOUT, ranks among his most chilling and thought-provoking works. In the film, when the sun goes down, Charley has convulsions while driving his car, he goes off the road and ends up in a ditch. Charley, it seems, is a werewolf. He attacks his rescuers and moves through the outskirts of town at night wreaking havoc. But the next day he can't remember the things he's done. Now the tight-knit town must rally to find out what is tearing it apart: mistrust, fear, or a vicious monster. ARCADIAN is in theatres now and BLACKOUT is available on VOD. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/followingfilms/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/followingfilms/support

Welcome back to Not A Bomb podcast! This is the show where we go back and re-examine some of the biggest bombs in cinematic history and see if they deserve a second chance. On this episode, we keep the sci-fi training rolling as we discuss 2016's Midnight Special. This film highlights why the sci-fi genre can be so enthralling and is one of our favorite genres to discuss. Even though critics seemed to adore this little movie, Midnight Special didn't get much attention from the general public when it released in theaters. Trust us, Midnight Special has amazing worldbuilding, interesting characters, thrilling action set pieces, oscar caliber performances, and so much more. WARNING…if you are interested in the film, and you should be, just know that we discuss the ending and it's possible meanings. Midnight Special is directed by Jeff Nichols and stars Michael Shannon, Joel Edgerton, Kirsten Durst, Adam Driver, Jaeden Martell, and Sam Shepard. On today's 124th episode of The Thriller Zone, I'm thrilled to welcome William "Bill" Landay, author of All That Is Mine I Carry With Me.I was first introduced to Bill as the creator of "Defending Jacob," the episodic series on Apple+ starring Chris Evans, Michelle Dockery, and Jaeden Martell. Mark Bomback created the limited drama series that is a gripping, character-driven thriller based on the 2012 New York Times best-selling novel of the same name by Landay. My wife and I loved the series!Since we really enjoyed the show, I felt confident that passion would transfer to ATIMICWM. And I was not disappointed. In fact, it intrigued me, as it was easily among the very best books I've read lately. Pick up a copy when it drops 3/7; you'll love it.To learn more about Bill, visit: WilliamLanday.com and follow him on Twitter and Instagram @williamlanday.As always, please FOLLOW us at TheThrillerZone.com, SUBSCRIBE to us at YouTube.com/thethrillerzone, and watch our promos on Instagram @thethrillerzone

This episode is for everyone who is struggling to love themselves, or has been on that journey as we are joined by the new Queen of Scots, Isis Hainsworth. You may have recently seen Isis in the Netflix movie, ‘Metal Lords', which is brought to us by the creators of ‘Games of Thrones', no less! If you haven't seen it yet, think of it as School of Rock meets teen drama. Isis plays the cello-playing teen, Emily, who, whilst struggling with her mental health and feeling like the school outsider, befriends two other high schoolers (Jaeden Martell and Adrian Greensmith) who invite her to join their heavy metal band, in order to win the school Battle of the Bands competition. You will love it! Isis is the definition of booked and busy at the moment, as she will soon be seen in the BBC and Netflix thriller-horror, drama series ‘Red Rose' which takes inspiration from movies like ‘Get Out' and ‘Scream.' Prepare to hide behind your sofa! And later this year she will also star alongside Billie Piper, Andrew Scott and Bella Ramsey in the Lena Dunham directed, medieval coming-of-age comedy, ‘Catherine Called Birdy.' We love an historical foray on Reign so I can't WAIT to see this! Today we get to know Isis as she takes us back to the very beginning, and talks to us about the journey she took to the big screen, from growing up in Scotland where she had dreams of becoming a dancer, to treading the boards on the West End. Isis also opens up about dealing with dyslexia, and using it as her superpower after feeling ‘othered' at school, and shares some amazing advice about processing and dealing with mental health issues, which I think you will love! I love what Isis has to say about becoming your own ally, and I hope it will inspire you to be your own best friend too. I also hope you keep on listening and finding the power to Reign in your own lives. If you love this episode, please get in touch (follow me across social media @joshsmithhosts), I love hearing from you. Love, Josh xxx

Happy almost tax day everyone! Yes it's the worst time of the year, enough about that, we are here to talk movies. Today Mike and Matt chat about the latest Bay Bang Ambulance (2022) starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Eiza González. Not emergency vehicle related topics include FPV drones, Speed, and Mike falling asleep. Man was it nice to see a huge over the top action chase thriller on the big screen. Ambulance (2022) is not Micahel Bay's best work, let's be honest nothing comes close to The Rock, but it is one of his best films in years. Ambulance (2022) is an edge of your seat thrill ride with incredible action, amazing camera work, and great acting especially from Gyllenhaal and Abdul-Mateen II. They have incredible chemistry from start to finish. The film can get long at times with the same concept running over and over but did we mention how incredible the action is? Matt and Mike both agree Ambulance (2022) is well worth the watch especially on the big screen. They both award the film 4 out of 5 Reels For next week's podcast Matt gives us a break from the theaters to catch the new Netflix Original Metal Lords starring Jaeden Martell, Adrian Greensmith, and Isis Hainsworth. Thanks for listening and reading to the end of our show notes. Chat at you next week!
