We unlock another classic episode of TrekRanks with the “Top 5 Locked-Door Moments.” Whether it's a door you are trying to get through or a door you have locked behind you, this is the kind of fun, unpredictable topic you will continue to find only find on TrekRanks. Our expert panel of host Jim Moorhouse and guests Lee Hutchison and Kelli cover a ton of locked-door territory, from the literal to the metaphysical in this great topic. Episode Rundown: Diagnostic Cycle: Where we briefly get into the details of defining the show's specific topic. Prime Directive: Each guest on this week's panel reveals exactly how they narrowed down their list and made their final choices. The Order of Things: All the picks are revealed with the TrekRanks' original “Five words and a hashtag” summary, along with one episode that helps frame their choice. Secondary Systems: For a few extra picks that just missed our final list. Regeneration Cycle: The panel recaps their picks and we dissect some of the interesting statistical anomalies that arose from the discussion. Temporal Inversion: We flashback to a previous episode of TrekRanks and relay some of the feedback received from listeners. If you have your own picks you would like to relay to us, please hail us at 757-828-RANK (7265) and record your own personal TrekRanks log to let us know your Top 5 Locked-Door Moments. (Or you can record it yourself and just DM us @TrekRanks.com on Bluesky.) Your comments could be used as part of a Temporal Causality Loop on an upcoming episode (and might get you a chance to be a guest on a future episode, too). And don't forget to check out TrekRanks.com for our entire back catalog of episodes and a detailed rundown on every episode of Star Trek ever.

We review the second half of the all-to-timely "Past Tense, Part II". Ben and Julian need to make sure a terrible act of political violence takes place to ensure the timeline stays in-tact while helping everyone involved retain their empathy. Boy, sounds like science fiction more than ever, am I right?

Star Trek month continues on Tread Perilously with an episode of The Next Generation called "Imaginary Friend." When the Enterprise surveys a nebula formed around a collapsed star, an energy being makes its way inside the ship and assumes the form of little Clara Sutter's imaginary friend. But it soon becomes clear to the child that her playmate, Isabella, is more than just a figment of her imagination. Meanwhile, the ship begins to encounter a form of energy that reads like matter to the shields, but is invisible to sensors. And when Isabella begins to make threats, it becomes clear to Captain Picard that the phenomena are related. Erik and Justin face a particularly poor TNG episode. The pair activate script doctor mode to find other ways to tell this story. Justin tries to figure out whose episode this really is. While Counselor Troi seems the focus, the guest characters take point, and Picard ends up bringing it home. Alexander Rozhenko makes a special appearance. Justin gets a few Deep Space Nine references into the proceedings. Erik tries to figure out the real dynamic between Clara and her engineer father. Both also try to determine what career goals mean in the 24th Century. A Twilight discussion breaks out and the film Invisible Child ends up mattering a great deal.
In the Star Trek: Voyager episode Prophecy, after decades adrift in the Delta Quadrant, a Klingon generation ship crosses paths with Voyager and finds what they've been looking for: a prophesied savior. Or rather, the unborn child of B'Elanna and Tom. Cue the ceremonial declarations, theological debates, and one very reluctant bat'leth duel. But when the Doctor uncovers a life-threatening illness among the Klingons, prophecy gives way to science, and that same baby might still be the key to salvation. Mission Log meets “Prophecy.” Hosted by John Champion and Norman Lao MISSION LOG SURVEY: Take the survey NOW and you could win rare, original TOS film cells! It's another jaunt to The Mirror Universe (or perhaps *A* Mirror Universe) this week as the "Discovery" writers have to figure out a way to get Georgiou into the past for what was then planned to be a "Section 31" series. In "Terra Firma, Part 1" the effects of being away from her universe and time are threatening to strike the Emperor down, and only a man in a funny hat may have the key to save her. There's also some incidental Burn stuff, as a treat. Also this week: bringing back an old favorite, amazing makeup, and Mirror People! Episode Notes Ferengi Love Songs: Rene has found his niche: horny Ferengi. Starfleet pest control is... interesting. Time to visit Moogie! Strangest thing to find in your childhood closet? Wait, how big is this closet?? Brunt is a Sovereign class hater. The one place where the Ferengi>America analogy falls down in the 21st century is that they don't generally shoot people to solve problems. The gang makes Aaron produce a new sound effect. The Ferengi market must be incredible volatile. O'Brien makes other people suffer. Odo turns his inner cop into community work. Soldiers of the Empire: We've been in Nog's shoes. Klingons would love anime. Time for some Klingon weeb bullshit. Dax is a better Klingon than Worf. Martok is acting weird. Worf puts over Martok by taking a knife to the kidney. Martok gets his groove back, and Worf gets a new house. Some more Klingon thoughts. DS9 is the rare show without much rivalry in female friendships. A divergence into Dragonriders of Pern. We're kicking off Season 14 with a legend. George Takei joins The Trek Files to reflect on landing the role of Sulu in Star Trek's second pilot, “Where No Man Has Gone Before”—filmed 60 years ago in July 1965. With humor and honesty, George recalls the early days on set at Desilu's Culver Studios, working alongside James Doohan, and navigating the challenges of being a closeted gay actor in 1960s Hollywood. In a wide-ranging and heartfelt conversation, George also shares his early talks with Gene Roddenberry about Star Trek's inclusive vision—and what it meant to see that future taking shape on screen, even in its earliest days.
Ever had one of those slumber parties where there wasn't any pizza or soda, just board games and a wormhole and a crashed shuttle and a gas giant and a combustible atmosphere and oversized space centipedes and, oh yeah, a large intelligent lizard that looks a lot like a large intelligent lizard that tried to disembowel you that one time? No? Well, maybe you're like Mission Log Live's callers, and you had thoughts on the latest episode of Strange New Worlds instead.

[Strange New Worlds review starts at 17:06] Anthony and Laurie start this week’s podcast with the news, looking for the meaning behind a new Trek promo on Paramount+, digging into new details on Noah Hawley’s shelved Star Trek movie, and getting tidbits on Starfleet Academy. They go through more of the panels from STLV to get insights into Deep Space Nine, Discovery, and Strange New Worlds, then take a look at SNW on the Nielsen streaming charts. Then it’s time to review Strange New Worlds episode 308, “Terrarium,” which they both liked, although they disagree about a few choices. They play Tony’s interview with Melissa Navia (Ortegas), then wrap up the podcast with a Trek-themed political parody post and a book Laurie wrote a chapter for.

What's that, we have to review an episode about urban crime, class divides, and deep questions of humanity? Oh and it takes place of the 'future' of 2024? Well 'that won't be awkward at all as we review "Past Tense, Part 1"! Just remember one important thing - Dax is prepared to be a con artist in any time or place.

We are doing it again. It's another crazy TrekRanks live show from Las Vegas, and this one is a sequel to the show we did on Episode 166 featuring “The. Best. Deaths.” On this week's TrekRanks live recording it's Episode 216 and the topic is even more rowdy with a breakdown of “The. Best. (Fake.) Deaths.” This is a fun one for our host Jim Moorhouse and our massive panel of eight guests, including Star Trek experts Alex Perry, Claire Little, Ken Reilly, Matt Hansen, Jamie McGregor, Thad Hait, Carl Wonders and John Krikorian, as they power through 45 rapid fire selections for “The. Best. (Fake.) Deaths.” This one will keep you on the edge of your seat! Episode Rundown: Diagnostic Cycle: If this topic was Top 5 Fake Deaths, you'd have Spock from “The Wrath of Khan” and that kind of thing. It's not. It's “The. Best. (Fake.) Deaths,” which is a whole other thing. (Yeah, we don't know what that means either, but just go with it.) Prime Directive: Each guest on this week's massive panel reveals exactly how they narrowed down list and made their final choices. The Order of Things: All the picks are revealed with the TrekRanks' original “Five words and a hashtag” summary, along with one episode that helps frame their choice. Secondary Systems: For a few extra picks that just missed our final list. Regeneration Cycle: The panel does not recap their picks (because there are so many of them), but we do dissect some of the interesting statistical anomalies that arose from the discussion. Temporal Inversion: We flashback to a previous episode of TrekRanks and relay some of the feedback received from listeners. If you have your own picks you would like to relay to us, please hail us at 757-828-RANK (7265) and record your own personal TrekRanks log to let us know your picks for The. Best. (Fake.) Deaths.

In the Star Trek: Voyager episode Lineage, B'Elanna and Tom get the life-changing news that they're going to be parents. But joy quickly gives way to fear as B'Elanna confronts the pain of her past: her father's abandonment, her isolation, and the shame she felt about her Klingon heritage. Convinced she's sparing her child from pain, she attempts to re-engineer her daughter's DNA without telling Tom. But where's the line between protecting your child and erasing who they are? Mission Log weighs the science, the choices, and the consequences in Lineage. Hosted by John Champion and Norman Lao Welcome to Mission Log, a Roddenberry Entertainment podcast, where we explore the Star Trek universe one episode at a time. Each week, Mission Log examines a single episode of Star Trek, diving into its ethical subtext, metaphors, and cultural significance. From the show's most iconic moments to its hidden gems, we analyze what makes Star Trek one of the greatest science fiction sagas of all time. In every episode of Mission Log we… Recap the story and analyze key moments. Discuss the morals, messages, and meanings of the dilemmas presented. There's trouble on the (possibly tiny?) world of Kwejian this week, and Book has to book it over there in "Sanctuary"! Surprisingly convincing the Starfleet powers-that-be to let the "Discovery" and her crew tag along is super easy, barely an inconvenience and we're all getting involved in family drama that overlaps neatly with the oft-mentioned Emerald Chain its boss Osira! Also this week: two plots with one stone, the Federation Quid Pro Quo, and comedy sci-fi! Time is up! the Dominion figured out how to deactivate the minefield, and they are bringing it down. Sisko and the Federation have to strike without reinforcements, before it is too late! What will happen?!?!?
Welcome back to TreknoPod – our continuing mission to boldly explore Star Trek: Enterprise episode by episode! In this episode, Captain Shoff, Captain Vactor, and Captain Linda Paiges review Enterprise Season 1, Episode 4: “Strange New World.” We break down the NX-01's first away mission to a mysterious planet, Archer's risky decision to camp overnight, Porthos the Beagle's big moment, and the creepy hallucinogenic spores that nearly tear the crew apart. We discuss themes of wonder, paranoia, and humanity's eagerness to explore—plus ghost stories by the campfire, T'Pol's struggles to keep control, and why this episode feels like a mix of classic Trek adventure and psychological horror. This one also gave us fun trivia: the caves filmed here were used in Batman '66 as the Batcave entrance! If you love Star Trek (Enterprise, TNG, DS9, Voyager, Strange New Worlds, or TOS), this is the podcast for you. Join our crew as we continue this rewatch journey together.

A documentary maker with an agenda collides with a crew on edge during a mission where nothing goes as planned, leading to a single question: "What Is Starfleet?" Mission Log Live's callers might just have the answer - or they might have a lot to say about this unconventional episode of Strange New Worlds.
This episode marks the final CG Garage podcast under the Chaos umbrella. The next chapter of the show will launch under a new banner, continuing the conversations that explore the art, craft, and future of filmmaking. Armen Kevorkian joins Chris to reflect on his long career in visual effects, from his early start as an intern on Star Trek: Voyager and Deep Space Nine to becoming the president of Ingenuity Studios. He shares how mentorship in those formative years at Paramount shaped his career, his transition into supervising on shows like Invasion and The Flash, and the evolution of VFX in broadcast television, where tight deadlines and experimental techniques pushed his teams to innovate. Armen recalls being part of television milestones like scanning actors for digital doubles for the first time and watching the rise of superhero shows that paved the way for streaming-era ambitions. The conversation dives into how the industry has shifted in the past 20 years, from the challenges of working through COVID and adapting to remote workflows, to the rise of generalists and the growing role of AI tools in concepting, roto, and plate prep. Armen reflects on invisible effects, the hidden craft of making audiences believe something was always there, and how facilities must adapt as filmmakers experiment with leaner, bespoke VFX pipelines. He also shares his vision for Ingenuity Studios, their recent work on projects like Untamed and Weapons, and his excitement about building tighter partnerships with filmmakers from the earliest stages of production.
