Through a series of releases via influential dance labels like Numbers, Tectonic and Hotflush, as well as two albums for Rinse Recordings in 2012, he originally blazed a trail for funky to return to the clubs. He has continued to push the sound firmly into the future too, albeit now punctuated by his wider influences, via his own, genre-blurring Roska Kicks & Snares (RKS) imprint. Presiding over 50 releases, RKS has welcomed the likes of MA1, Champion, Gemmy and Doc Daneeka to the label since its inception in 2009 and now functions around a core base of new artists; Tony Tokyo, J Kenzo's Jodo Kast project, Majora, Transcode and Frederique. After spending the last four years releasing via different platforms A renowned DJ to boot, Roska's ‘Roska Presents' brand has seen him curate line-ups across the UK for the last five years and after recently returning from a tour of Asia – he took in dates in Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Osaka and Seoul. Armed with a series of fresh remixes for artists including Matthew Herbert, grime-rap star CasIsDead, DJ Fresh and even Diplo, Roska is also prepping releases for Low Steppa's Simma Red, Form & Function and Pinch's crucial label hub, Tectonic. Easily the funniest book I've ever read!'Catch-22' by Joseph Heller is fictional novel set on a US air force base on an island off Northern Italy during WWII. It follows Yossarian whilst he tries to avoid flying missions as everyone is out to kill him. He is joined by a collection of other wacky characters as they all show their peculiar idiosyncrasies. The book highlights the absurdity of army politics, the waste that is generated by bureaucracy and the mundanity of war (with brief flashes of intensity).I summarised the book as follows. "To say this is funny is an understatement. It is absolutely hilarious although it does contain disturbing/gory scenes, as it is after all about war. Catch-22 has become mainstay of the English language due to the absolute perfection of Heller in creating situation of paradox that can't be resolved. Jaime Read - Summer... the 2nd time (Vinyl underground) Growing up in UK during the middle of the Acid House craze late 80's, Jaime Read was influenced by the early Chicago, Detroit and New York sounds which his sister would play. The 'Capital' rap show with Mike Allen was instrumental in showing Jaime some of the hottest underground sounds like Cybotron 'R9' & Jam on it by Newcleus mixed with now classic hip hop. Listening to pirate radio stations like 'Friends FM', 'Fantasy', and his personal favourite 'Smart Boys FM' were instrumental in his early days. It was only inevitable that when he got his first bit of equipment himself, Jaime had to have a go at it himself. As the mid-90s moved on, Jaime first released music on strong labels like 10th Planet under the name Wookie as well as his first full length release on Fragmented Records named 'The End of the Beginning'. Around that time, Jaime introduced his own 'Push to Shove' imprint releasing under the name LHAS inc. for which he was a founding member of with Felix Dickinson. Some say Jaime is the ideal mix between house and techno styles. The perfect blend of two of the most beloved versions of dance music. With nearly 30 releases under this name (and some that are not credited to Jaime - such as the Joe Lewis Story), each release has hit near legendary status. Key releases like the 2010 EP named 'Never the Future' on Elektrosouls Recordings or the unique 'On the Beaches' on the revered Golf Channel label in 2015 which had Jaime showing his versatility with some unique styles. In the past 5 years Jaime's many of his classic material has been reissued like the most recent 'Hevalo 2021 Edition' on Push to Shove. His last all-new material found its way to the Vinyl Underground label just last year simply named 'EP'. The future is looking bright as Jaime assures us that he has lots of new material ready to be released so make sure you follow his Bandcamp page.  You can trust anything Jaime is involved will be pure class. Jaime doesn't get as many opportunities to DJ as some others but if you get a chance to hear him out you are in for a treat. He is one of the UK's best DJ's you never heard of and always rocks a party!!! (As this mix clearly does!). We are glad to have Jaime make a Chubby! podcast exclusive mix for us. After tearing the roof off our DHA Weekly radio show last month, we invited Henry Compton from Lioness Presents in Sydney to join the podcast for episode #074. This is only our second all-vinyl mix, and what a quality piece of work Henry has put together. Henry is a Sydney-based DJ, and along with his Lioness Presents partners, is responsible for showcasing some of the world's finest DJs at a variety of underground warehouse parties over the past 12 months. Lioness Presents have hosted the likes of Linkwood (FIRECRACKER RECS), Mark de Clive-Lowe (TRU THOUGHTS), Pablo Valentino (MCDE/ FACES), Steve Spacek (WARP), Raf Daddy (DFA / Two Bears) and Inkswel (RUSH HOUR / BUREK). Even though Henry has almost 2 decades DJ-ing experience it's only recently that he has pushed himself further. Previous Henry has held spots on radio shows on Bondi FM and 2SER FM, and worked behind scenes as a label manager for an independent distribution company. The next event for Lioness Presents (www.lioness.net.au) is the one and only Recloose (Rush Hour / Planet E) on August 23rd at GoodGod Small Club in Sydney, so if you're in the area get down to it! When we asked Henry his motivations and track selections for this mix, he said "it's a selection of predominantly new tracks from some of my favourite producers that have been rocking my boat lately and also fitted the DHA podcast brief. I definitely wanted to create a mix with a flow that works well for home or headphone listening.
