Water plant every 3 to 4 weeks. Remove any fruit. Leaves will die back. Once leaves die back you can prune the plant, just trim back so there are a bunch of Y-shaped branches, 3 inches or so in length. To finish your pepper winter care, about a month before your last frost date, bring your pepper plant out of the cool location and move it to a brighter, warmer location. You may even want to use a heating pad under the pot to add additional heat. Resume watering, but Broccoli Broccoli can be planted as early as six weeks before the first frost-free date, but it does best as a fall garden crop. Young plants should be hardened off before transplanting into your garden. Broccoli can tolerate temperatures from 26 to 31 degrees. Brussels sprouts do so well in the cold that they are often harvested well into winter. This is one vegetable that improves in flavor when exposed to cold temperatures. Frosts will actually increase the sugar content, effectively eliminating the bitter taste so often experienced in summer sprouts. Cabbage likes cool temperatures as low as 26 degrees depending on the variety. In fact, you will find they do best in cool fall weather and are rather disappointing in a summer garden. However, if you start them early enough, you can still get a crop before the weather gets too hot. A light frost is thought to improve the sweetness of cabbages. Watch for insects such as cabbage lopers who also like to munch on sweet cabbage plants. Kale can withstand temperatures as low as 10 degrees and is also noted for improved sweetness after frost. A very hardy vegetable, kale not only tolerates the cold, but it hasStore carrots in the ground during cool winter months unless a freeze is expected; if frost is predicted and the roots can’t be protected, dig them up and store them elsewhere. If carrots stay in the ground all winter, harvest them before new top growth starts in spring. Roots stored in the ground through winter should be eaten very soon after harvest; they will not keep well. Store carrots in the ground where the soil freezes if the ground can be insulated from freezing cold. Keep the soil at 35° to 40°F by putting a 10- to a 12-inch-thick layer of hay, leaves, or straw mulch over the rows; extend the mulch on both sides of each row by another 18 inches or more. This should protect roots even beneath two feet of snow. Dig roots through the winter as needed. no problems with insects like cabbage can have. In segment two Joey and Holly talk about Amending soil, Add compost - your own or aged manure, rabbit manure, leaf compost Add leaves Add coffee grounds Think about what it may need Soil test? E23 | Clay’s Cortex Podcast | Is Your Body a Money Pit? (ft. Charlie Rowe + Tim Livingston)This episode was a cool continuation from the last episode (E22), we will talk more about the Muscle System Specialist Program. But I or we would like to ask you a question first... Do you have or have had a injury and not been able to bounce back from it after going to your doctor and they tell you to rest? Or going to a PT and you aren’t seeing any progress? Or to a Chiropractor and you are tired of going 3 times a week? Or even going to trainer and them saying they can work around the injury and it still isn’t getting better? These are all common answers that we get when a new client comes through the door to work with us after hearing about what we do as a Muscle System Specialist. Exercise is a powerful tool that can help your body move and feel better. The body is complex, we use it every single day and most of us do the basic up keep of brushing our teeth, showering, eating, hopefully hydrating but our bodies are meant to move and leverage exercise on a daily basis just as we do when it comes to brushing our teeth. But if we take a generic/ mediocre approach then we should not expect extraordinary results. So, in this episode Charlie, Tim, and I will talk about a great blog post (linked below) they wrote relating the human body to a house, they reference the movie The Money Pit with Tom Hanks (1986).If the scenario(s) that were listed above sound familiar then this episode can give you some hope to not give up and you may be able to leverage exercise to help build your body on solid ground.Try to find a Muscle System Specialist (www.ExerciseProEd.com) or a highly qualified Exercise Professional.Enjoy the episode and if you have questions please reach out!You can find more out about Charlie and Tim belowCharlie Rowe | Physicians Fitness - Instagram: chazrowe21 | Facebook: Physicians Fitness(Columbus, OH)+Tim Livingston | Liv Fit - Instagram: livfit16 | Facebook: Liv Fit(Trumbull, CT)Your Body a Money Pit Blog Post_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Links are below for the plethora of options to absorb information. S2. E22. Author Uncut Podcast - Sensitivity Reader Question: Is Calling Someone a "Karen," Racist? (AuthorUncut.com) THIS IS THE LAST EPISODE OF THE SEASON. SEASON 3 BEGINS IN OCTOBER. But first, if you enjoy my podcast, I'd be grateful if you spread the word by leaving a rating and a review. Author Uncut can be found wherever you enjoy listening to your podcasts. Recently while doing a Sensitivity Read, an author asked me if calling someone a "Karen" is a slur or racist. I'll answer that question in this last episode of season 2. So what exactly is a "Karen?" It's a term used to describe a woman, usually a white woman wielding her privilege by approaching a stranger, usually a black man or woman, accusing them of one thing or another. They may have an issue with their kids in a swimming pool, them sitting on a bench, walking through a neighborhood, sleeping in a student lounge, a child selling water on a stoop, a child mowing lawns for money, a family cookout bbq... the list goes on. A KAREN, is calling out someone's outrageous racist behavior. It's another way of calling someone racist. So why are some calling it a slur or racist? Well, number 1, no one likes to be called a racist; especially if they are racists. Number 2, one woman on Twitter called it "class prejudice." That's a new one. Number 3, they feel that they are "victims" of the term and are cast in a bad light. I believe that is exactly what it is intended to do; cast that person and their outrageous behavior in a bad light and to publicly shame. S1. E22. Author Uncut Podcast Final Episode of Season: My Life During the OJ Simpson Trial and Why He's Still a Headline Maker (AuthorUncut.com) THIS IS MY FINAL EPISODE OF THE SEASON. Season 2 Episode 1 will air Monday, February 10, 2020. (Note: There are graphic descriptions). The words "Not Guilty" set one man free, but somehow made all African-Americans, no matter their varied opinions, the enemy. "... the defendant, Orenthal James Simpson, not guilty of the crime of murder..." The Trial of the Century had come to an end. The verdict hit the airwaves and the eyes of the nation descended on the city that made superstars out of attorneys. As an African-American recent college graduate living and working in the city, that verdict had a profound effect on me and the life I made for myself. The trial and the shocking verdict served as the impetus for what would be months of turmoil and unrest. From the horrific Rodney King assault, to the unsettling residuum following the O.J. Simpson verdict, my life changed in profound ways. ** Do you still feel the same way that you did when the verdict was announced?
