Certain names linger on the lips of ardent Seattle fans who still rock Supersonics Green & Gold: Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp. Detlef Schrempf and Nate McMillan. Ray Allen and Kevin Durant… Players who evoke wistfulness and nostalgia. Other names bring notes of bitterness, and regret for Sonics faithful: Howard Schultz. The man who sold the team… And Clay Bennett – the man who bought them and soon moved them to Oklahoma City. The team pulled up stakes 16 years, five months, and 12 days ago … but who's counting? Why are many Seattle-ites still hung up on the team that broke their hearts nearly two decades ago? And what REALLY went wrong to make Seattle lose its NBA franchise? Most lifelong fans could spin their version of events … but the one we’re asking also happens to be an award-winning journalist and the host of a podcast called “Sonic Boom: How Seattle Lost its Team.” The show was recently re-released by The Ringer, and it remains relevant for anyone who wants to understand the history of the NBA in Seattle and when and how the Sonics could return. "Can a single game capture the essence of a legend's career?" Ben and Skin take you on a nostalgic journey through one of the most memorable nights in Mavericks history. The episode opens with a heartfelt tribute to Dirk, featuring clips from his emotional farewell speech and the overwhelming response from fans and fellow players alike. The hosts share their personal favorite moments from Dirk's illustrious career, including the touching scene where Dirk breaks down in tears while watching a montage of his visits to children's hospitals. This moment underscores the profound impact Dirk has had both on and off the court, solidifying his status as a one-of-a-kind athlete and humanitarian.Listeners are treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the evening, where legends like Larry Bird and Detlef Schrempf paid their respects. A standout moment is Derek Harper's candid reaction to seeing Larry Bird, exclaiming, "Larry effing Bird," capturing the awe and reverence felt by all in attendance. The show also celebrates notable anniversaries and birthdays, including the debut of "Parks and Recreation" and the birthdays of celebrities like Albert Hammond Jr. and Gerard Way. Their humorous banter and playful commentary provide a perfect balance to the episode's more emotional moments.Notable Quotes: "Larry effing Bird." - Derek Harper"There will never be another Dirk ever. He's a one of one." - Ben

We're tired of the hemming and hawing from NBA Commish Adam Silver. No more excuses. It's time to right one of the most egregious wrongs in the history of the country, and restore the Supersonics franchise to its full glory in the Emerald City. Shout out to Detlef Schrempf and Sam Perkins.
What’s Trending: Dave Reichert made news with some very harsh criticism of Donald Trump. Detlef Schrempf apparently thinks women will die if Donald Trump is elected, but his twitter post backfires. Starbucks is reporting poor numbers despite pumpkin spice season starting up… or is it because it’s pumpkin spice season? // Kamala Harris stumbled over her words in a surprisingly hard-hitting interview on NBC. Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey is claiming to be pro-Trump in his his reelection campaign. // Samantha Ettus on Amazon’s Jewish problem.
Detlef grew up in West Germany and left his senior year to be a foreign exchange student in Washington state. He went on to play college ball for the University of Washington and was drafted to the NBA. During his 16-year career he was voted NBA's Sixth Man of the Year twice and was the first European player to play in the All-Star game. Detlef's steady game was an important piece to the successful and exciting Seattle Supersonic teams of the 1990's. Detlef was on the forefront of European players to make it in the NBA and he has also forged a very successful career in his post-NBA days.

Men kriget i Bosnien tycks aldrig ta slut. Perfekt. Varje unpluggedspelning dokumenterades.
Men kriget i Bosnien tycks aldrig ta slut. Perfekt. Varje unpluggedspelning dokumenterades. Pawnee fit check! Today Parks and Rec costume designer Kirston Mann joins Rob Lowe and Alan Yang to talk about the 22nd episode of season 2. In "Telethon" Leslie struggles to fill the overnight hours at a local telethon when Tom and celebrity guest Detlef Schrempf are sidetracked at the Snakehole Lounge. On today's episode you'll hear why Ann Perkins is the best dressed person in Pawnee, how Kirston helps get to the bottom of the Ron Swanson suit mystery, as well as a unique story about Pawneean Denise Yermley! Got a question for the Pawnee Town Hall? Send us an email: ParksandRecollectionTownHall@gmail.com or leave a 30-Second voicemail at: (310) 893-6992 Leslie has volunteered to work on the 24-hour "Pawnee Cares" diabetes telethon and orders everyone in the office to work the phones for multiple shifts. Tom is assigned to pick up retired basketball player Detlef Schrempf from the airport, the special guest for the telethon. Leslie is excited because she has been allowed to program her own four-hour block, but her co-workers are upset to learn it runs from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. Additionally, she has already been up for 24 hours creating T-shirts for her staff to wear for the telethon.During lunch, Mark tells Leslie that he is going to propose to Ann. Ann suggests that Leslie get some sleep, but she plans on consuming Sweetums bars to stay awake for another 24 hours. As the telethon begins, Leslie is already exhausted and is falling asleep. With time to kill, Tom brings Detlef to the Snakehole Lounge, but the owner, Freddy (Andy Milder), refuses to let him go because Detlef is bringing a lot of business, delaying Leslie's big headliner. Andy's band, Mouse Rat, is asked to replace Detlef, but when they complete all of their songs, Leslie has nothing else to put on the air. Ron volunteers to demonstrate how to cane a chair, but his presentation is so boring that the telethon actually starts to lose money.Desperate for something to put on, Leslie tells Mark that he should propose to Ann in front of the camera and he agrees. Not long after, however, Ann confides in Leslie that she wants to break up with Mark, citing that he is simply not the one. Meanwhile, April tries to make Andy jealous by flirting with someone over the phone, but it backfires when it turns out to be Joe (Kirk Fox) from the Pawnee sewer department. Andy is forced to kick Joe out of the studio when he actually arrives to bring April to his van.The telethon's talent pool becomes so low that Leslie is forced to flip a coin in front of the camera and talk about her favorite episodes of Friends. Jerry is allowed to play the piano, but everyone dismisses his skilled playing as a racket. Mark finally returns to propose and walks on the set with the ring, but Leslie stops him by mooning the camera. Detlef Schrempf and Tom finally arrive at the end of Leslie's programming block. Detlef presents a check for $5,000, allowing the telethon to bypass its $20,000 mark. Despite being awake for two days straight, Leslie goes to Ann's house so they could talk about Mark. She then promptly falls asleep on Ann's couch for 22 hours.

This week, Mark and Allen break down the Episode that has Joan Callemezzo, Perd Hapley, MC Martin Housely, and Joe from the Sewer Department all under the same roof! Given a 4 hour programming block (2am to 6am) for the 24-hour "Pawnee Cares" diabetes telethon starting that night, Leslie (who has already been up for 24 hours) gets everyone involved, including sending Tom as the body man for retired basketball player Detlef Schrempf. With time to kill, Tom brings Detlef to the Snakehole Lounge, bringing a LOT of business in, but resulting in owner Freddy refusing to let him go. Several "talents" go on-air, including songs by Mouse Rat, Ron's chair-caning demo, and accountant Barney demonstrating QuickBooks Pro. Remembering that Mark told her earlier he plans to propose to Ann, a desperate Leslie tells Mark he should do it on-air. Folks, this is what we're here to do, get the bottom of such riveting questions, like ... Exactly how tall is Tom? Will Mark propose to Ann on the air? What precisely is sleep-fighting? Can Detlef Schrempf make it to the telethon? Will Leslie fall asleep before her programming block is over? What the **** IS Perd Hapley doing on-air? Loyal podcast viewers, this episode is absolutely chock-a-block full of guest stars - you won't be able to keep track of them all! Much to someone's chagrin, Pete and Tup wound up on the same podcast again, and kept a recording of it for you. As far as my notes here say, they talked about: biodiesel reality t.v. show microphone systems, the civil war fought between Detlef Schrempf and Vlade Divac, Hanx's wife Xylophone Hanks, and untapped wash 'n fold murder schemes. A very happy mother's day was hopefully already had.

Noah Dickerson sits down with former Husky and NBA All-Star Detlef Schrempf to talk about his basketball journey.
Basketball is one of my passions, so recording this episode was a blast! Chris Dudley & Detlef Schrempf played a combined 32 years in the NBA, and have chosen financial services as their second career. The lessons they share from their experiences are timeless, and apply to each of us and the role we play on our own personal teams – both in the office and at home. Of course, I couldn't resist sneaking in a little fun and asking them to pick their ultimate basketball teams. Be sure to listen to the end to hear their selections! How they found their way to the NBA Why they were asked to play different roles in the NBA, and how they found success in them Why they transitioned into financial services How they leverage their vast networks of relationships for business without abusing them Chris & Det's advice for those considering working with professional athletes

Detlef Schrempf was a large part of the first wave of European-born players to make their mark in the NBA. He is a three-time NBA All-Star, back-to-back Sixth Man of the Year and two-time Olympian. We discuss his formative years in Germany and the foreign-exchange program that would change his life forever. We cover his standout tenure at the University of Washington, the ups-and-downs of his early-pro career with the Dallas Mavericks and the 1989 trade to the Indiana Pacers that ultimately allowed his game to shine. Detlef talks about his return to Washington state - where he played six seasons for the Seattle SuperSonics - before closing out his playing days with the Portland Trailblazers. Der neue Fragenpod deckt thematisch mal wieder einiges ab: Derrick Rose, die Milwaukee Bucks, Detlef Schrempf, die Bucks, Celtics, Clippers, Spurs, Jazz, Nuggets, Luka Doncic‘ Rolle in Dallas, Ty Lues Entlassung, Dragan Benders Zukunft, richtiges Rebounden, der Basketballfilm-MVP, etc. pp. (mehr …)
Detlef Schrempf is certainly a hometown hero for myself and my 90’s Seattle basketball brethren...but he’s also a living example of a self-described “awkward” kid who, after stumbling his way into basketball as a teenager, discovered something he loved...and pursued it. Schrempf went on to play at pinnacle of his sport where he was a 2-time Olympian and a 3-time NBA All Star with the Seattle SuperSonics. That said, we learn in this interview that Detlef won’t be defined *just* by his career as a professional athlete... but also by his role as a father, a husband, and a role model in his community. Of course I wanted Detlef on to talk about what it takes to be an elite athlete as the show is always aiming to get insights from the worlds top performers, but what really emerged from this episode is his sagedom on all things personal growth, community and how to think about choosing priorities in life. In today's episode: Whether you’re playing sports or building a business, your team needs to have the right balance of stars and support players. It doesn’t matter if you’re a professional athlete considering buying a $200k ride or a creator considering the latest and greatest gear, being very clear on where the lines are between your financial needs, wants and wishes and choosing to prioritize saving for your needs over spending on wants and wishes will help you be financially successful in the long run. We all go through different seasons of our life where our priorities shift and we grow as individuals and teammates. Don’t think that you can or you should have it all figured out right now. Plan for the future if you have the luxury to, but stay flexible enough to realize that you’re going to keep learning and changing along the way. Enjoy! Today's episode is brought to you by CreativeLive. Dayton Flyers' all-time leading scorer and NCAA star, Roosevelt Chapman. Adam & Aaron welcome Roosevelt to the podcast, with an in-depth discussion of his very successful, well-traveled, yet largely-unheralded basketball career. If ever a guest warranted featuring on the show, Roosevelt 'Velvet' Chapman is that guy. In 1984, within the span of just three months, he starred in the NCAA Tournament, was invited to the Team USA Olympic Trials and was selected in the NBA Draft. Roosevelt talks about his early years in Brooklyn and how his game developed on the playgrounds of New York City. He discusses some of the future NBA stars he grew up with, including Chris Mullin, Mark Jackson and Rod Strickland, to name a few. The development of Chapman's game earned him the opportunity to attend the University of Dayton. We chat about his incredible senior season at college, where he led the Flyers to the Elite Eight in the 1984 NCAA Tournament - overcoming Wayman Tisdale and Detlef Schrempf in the process; finally succumbing to Patrick Ewing and his Georgetown Hoyas. Roosevelt discusses his involvement in the Team USA Olympic Trials in 1984, including two great stories involving Michael Jordan and John Stockton. He opens up about his selection in the 1984 NBA Draft and what led to him pursuing opportunities to play professionally - achieving great success - traveling around the world. This is one of my favorite episodes of the show, to date. Roosevelt's story is fascinating; discovering the history and importance of players who often fly under the radar, is a passion of mine. Aaron & I are confident you'll enjoy this feature. Show notes | I appreciate all feedback, FB Page 'Likes' and iTunes ratings / reviews. Gophers beat writer and Hanson fan club member Amelia Rayno joins us this week. We start off with friendly small talk that somehow morphs into a solid 45 minutes of talking about BIGFOOT (yep) and then get to the boring Gopher stuff (tourney chances, Pitino, recruits, etc). Then we discuss Bigfoot some more. Also mentioned: Detlef Schrempf, ginkgo biloba, lumberjacks, Hooters, whiskey, and Avatar. Pretty magical episode, you guys. We may have peaked on this... Ryan McKee welcomes back sports journalist Evan Scott Schwartz and writer Raf Carillo for their second podcast this week. This time, the guys pick their favorite random NBA teams of all time. There doesn't have to be any specific reasons why this team is great. Maybe it's your favorite bad team to watch? Maybe it's a favorite team to play in a particular video game? Whatever the reason, you can't help but love this team ... even though you're technically cheating on your "main team" with them. Ryan, Evan and Raf discuss why they couldn't help but root for those Seattle Supersonics teams with Shawn Kemp, Detlef Schrempf and Gary Payton; the '98-'99 Sacramento Kings with Chris Webber, Jason Williams, and Vlade Divac; and the 2010 New York Knicks before Carmelo got there with Amar'e Stoudemire, Danilo Gallinari, and Raymond Felton.
