Welcome to Woodycast, where we talk about all things Woody Harrelson! Wait....this is a Frasier episode?!With over 100 Primetime Emmy nominations, 37 wins, and a 20 year stint from Kelsey Grammer as the titular pompous radio host, we all knew a Frasiercast was inevitable. Alongside Writer/Critic Carrie Wittmer, Phil taps into season 6 episode 13 "The One Where Woody Shows Up" to not only examine the show itself, and it's role in 90s sitcom culture, but its connections to Cheers, and success in paving its own path. We also talk about Woody Harrelson. Like, a lot. Carrie Schmitt is back on the podcast and this time we are chatting about what it is like to write an art book. I’ve always wanted to write a book but it always ends up in the too-hard basket! The process seems daunting and I worry about how I would fit it in with all the other aspects of running an art business. It was wonderful to chat with Carrie about this as Carrie is a full-time artist, instructor and author. She sells original paintings, teaches online and in-person workshops, licenses her art with various companies and always has a few books on the go. Her latest book, The Story of Every Flower, is a celebration of her 10-year journey as an artist. In our conversation, Carrie takes us behind the scenes. You’ll hear about what inspired the book, the rituals and routines that have helped Carrie to create it, why she chose to self-publish and how she is approaching the marketing and distribution of the book. If you have ever thought about writing a book, I encourage you to take a listen! This week on Wisdom of Wyse Women Podcast, I am joined by a member of the light working community, Carrie Pokorney. Carrie is a Reiki practitioner, a yoga instructor, a semi-new mama, and most definitely is a wise woman. In this episode, we get into her journey that brought her into the practices of yoga and Reiki and the shifts and synchronicities that have moved her through her life path. She speaks openly about what it means to be a new mother, moving through change, and finding yourself throughout the process. We learn that Carrie is a manifestation queen! And she shares about times when miracles have shown up in her life. We jam on relationships, the power of meeting the right people, and the struggles and and huge changes that come with stepping into the new phase of life as a parent. Her story is beautiful and it is such an honor to share this platform with her. Carrie and I met synchronously at a yoga studio where she was teaching restorative yoga. After that, she gave me guidance and direction when Reiki began to show up in my life. She has been a source of great inspiration and wisdom to me, and I'm so glad that she was willing to share her unique voice with me and with all of you. I hope you enjoy listening to this show as much as I did while recording it. There is a lot of love here. And thank you for being here to share it. With love from your host, Kristi. Today’s guest on the show is Carrie Clarke, a small business consultant that helps business owners get to their next level. What I loved about interviewing Carrie is that she totally debunks the myth that you should have it all figured out right out of the gate. As she says, “action brings clarity” around getting crystal clear on who you serve and how. It’s such an important nugget of wisdom because we let this fear paralyze us sometimes and it holds us back from jumping in. But it’s only with jumping that we fix that fear!On top of that, Carrie and I talk:Why avatar exercises are a backwards way to find your ideal client (there, I said it)Why throwing spaghetti against the wall – with a time limit – may actually be the smart way to get going! Why you shouldn’t be paying for advertising when you’re just starting outWhy you may actually know what’s next in your business (but can’t hear it through the other noise out there)The power of getting curiousWhy you must get a mentorCarrie's best quotes:“We don’t realize that current roles we’re in could be teaching us things for later…”“I don’t know anyone whose business hasn’t done a complete 180 in the first year.”“I truly think people know what the next best step is but they just can’t hear it through the noise”“Our brain is bonkers powerful…”You always hear me yammering on about this stuff, I know… but if you don’t want to take it from me, take it from the CEOs like Carrie that I talk with. Buckle up and enjoy this one. Find Carrie on LinkedIn, Facebook, and her Next Level consulting siteCarrie D. Clarke, J.D. is the founder and CEO of Next Level Coaching & Consulting. The college essay provides teens their single best chance to speak from the heart and share something significant that does not come through the rest of the application. But what happens when a student can’t find anything significant to share? Amy and Mike invited educational consultant Carrie Bedard to extol the virtues of utilizing a reflection journal to prepare for a college essay. What are five things you will learn in this episode? What is a reflection journal and how does it differ from a diary? How does keeping a reflection journal help the essay writing process? How does keeping a reflection journal help college and career choice? What other benefits accrue from keeping a reflection journal? How can parents and counselors motivate students to maintain journals? MEET OUR GUEST Carrie Bedard of Soar 2 Success Consulting graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Hospitality and a Minor in Psychology. Since the passage of FOSTA/SESTA in the US, sexual content on the internet has been progressively quashed, starting with shutting down places sex workers could advertise but flowing forward until Tumblr was all but shuttered when they were no longer allowed to have sexual content. Various agencies drop the scare words ‘sex trafficking’ and the changes are made under the guise of protecting the vulnerable but has had the opposite effect by forcing many sex workers onto the streets and taking away the resources they used to have to vett and screen clients. On this episode of On The Wet Coast, Flick Morrison and Kat Stark chat with Carrie Hill, a sex worker activist and professional dominant (among many other things) who is here to talk to us about Why Sex Work Matters and how the rules and restrictions around sex work will affect your life more and more.
