Drugs and music go together like this podcast and hating on The Magnetic Fields. We as millennials remember well the lessons of D.A.R.E. (and are also very boring) but others have a more open attitude to a life of drugs. Ghostface Killah's Fishscale covers the highs and lows of drug peddling, usage, and culture and has Matt thinking, what if we 'Just Say Yes' instead? Cypress Hill and Spiritualized ask a similar question and measure the nuanced impacts of drug culture on one's health, art, bank account, and more.

The generations old saying "There's Strength in Numbers" never ceases to hold true and that is something that is displayed amongst these 5 artists we've had the pleasure of sitting down with for this weeks episode. While every person brings a lot to the table, they clean it up and always put it together nicely, often referred to as Hooterville. Dun Dealy & Top Hooter (P89) are names that many within the Boston Rap scene have been hearing for over a decade but within recent years they've teamed up with new names like in their camp like BoriRock and with this man power, it will take them to new heights. While CAEV was in the building solely for moral support of his close friends and frequent collaborators, Shaykh Hanif and the 3 previously mentioned pulled up to talk about their next collaborative project: Feed The Family! Within the past year alone, our hometown sensation and larger-than-life personality, BoriRock has dropped 5 projects and created a culture around his brand with collaborations with many artists, like Reem Skully & Van Buren Records to name a couple. This momentum that he's created isn't something he's kept to himself, as he's worked closely with his team and released many videos, sparking energy amongst them all. Shaykh Hanif is the only name we actually haven't gotten a chance to talk to at all but he's also hit the scene and shaking it up with visuals and singles, even with the MA born, Philly repping lyricist, OT The Real! Needless to say that with the combination of street culture, music, merch (Fishscale, Hooterville, etc.), and work ethic, these guys have a very interesting story to tell. Join Charlie MaSheen & KASH as they welcome Shaykh Hanif, BoriRock, Dun Dealy, Top Hooter (P89), & CAEV to the pod as we dive into the music, BoriRock messing up at the cypher, the merch, the January 7th release "FEED THE FAMILY" (all produced by Temendiss) and SO MUCH MORE! Supreme Clientele is the second studio album by American rapper and Wu-Tang Clan member Ghostface Killah, released on February 8, 2000 by Epic Records. The album showcases Ghostface's signature up-tempo, stream-of-consciousness rhyme style, and features guest appearances from Cappadonna, GZA, Masta Killa, Method Man, Raekwon, Redman, RZA, U-God, and others. It features affiliates of what would become members of Theodore Unit and T.M.F. Supreme Clientele contains a large amount of production from group member RZA, who also re-worked and remixed beats from other producers involved, as a means to create a unified and cohesive sound for the album.[1]Upon its release, Supreme Clientele debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 chart and number two on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, while selling 134,000 copies in its first week.[2] On March 8, 2000, it was certified Gold in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).[3] The album featured the singles "Apollo Kids" and "Cherchez La Ghost", which, despite receiving limited airplay, went on to achieve notable chart success.Supreme Clientele was met with mostly strong reviews from music critics, despite its contrasting sound and style to that of his previous album, Ironman (1996). It was praised and noted for Ghostface Killah's obscure and creative lyricism, and for the cohesive format of production.[1] Supreme Clientele was the most acclaimed of all the second generation Wu-Tang projects, and featured the most contributions from RZA during this era.[4] Along with Ironman and Fishscale (2006), it is often ranked as Ghostface Killah's best work. It has also been regarded as one of the best solo Wu-Tang albums,[5] and has received accolades for being one of the best albums of the 2000s.[6]

*Recorded Nov 21, 2020 As the last repeat guest of 2020, we welcome our guy "Teflon Hoot" aka BoriRock back to CWTFB Radio! We started the year off with BoriRock & Dun Dealy and we felt it was only right to have another sit down with Bori after the release of his latest project "Fishscale"! BoriRock originally caught the attention of Charlie MaSheen when he released "Cardboard Hearts", a soulfully sampled and hard-hitting street inspired single featuring Dunny and produced by Tremediss. Since 2019 he's been releasing a lot of singles, often paired with a music video and built a demand for a project. His biggest attention grabber was "Moshpit", which is a drill record featuring NYC based rapper Mr. Swipey. The video for that had a great response, even with no thanks to the featured artist. Unfortunately in September, BoriRock was arrested and didn't get to see the reaction people had for "Fishscale". The project displayed the rapper's descriptive storytelling and also a sentimental side of him. Fishscale had a great flow from start to finish and we're glad we got to hear Bori talk about the creation of the piece of work. Join the fellas as Chizz & Bori talk Boston music, influences, "Yins" & much more! With this being our shortest podcast with a guest to date, we're glad BoriRock left us a very memorable #RedCupsAndRap Freestyle to wrap it up!!! BE SURE TO GO BUY/STREAM "FISHSCALE" ON ALL DSPs! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/cwtfbradio/support

In this episode of Weird Studies, an improvised analysis of two pop songs -- Nina Simone's version of James Shelton's "Lilac Wine" and Ghostface Killah's visionary "Underwater" -- becomes the occasion for a deep dive to the weird wellspring of artistic creation. In trying to understand these songs and why they love them so much, your hosts touch on themes such as necromancy, decadence, liebestod, visionary experience, the Muslim image of paradise, the necessity of rifts, Norman Mailer's concept of "dream life," and the magical operation that is sampling. It's not only Brandon, whose hard work is threatened by this crisis, but that of his entire family, who have sacrificed collectively to turn a concept and a conviction into a brick-and-mortar reality. If you're feeling a little - or more than a little - overwhelmed by this crisis, I invite you to listen to Brandon. Even as his dream and livelihood are threatened, he found a way to make me smile, relax, and find a little faith. No wonder his customers love him! About the Carryout in COVID Series Of all the conflicting information we're receiving these days, I'm having the most difficulty reconciling the call to support small, local businesses with the command to stay home as much as possible. Can I support small restaurants without contributing to the spread of the virus? I felt the best way to answer this question was to hear the stories of businesses in crisis and ask THEM my questions. A variety of guests including owners, farmers, and journalists, are participating in this series, so make sure you check back to get a new perspective each day. Derek talks with Stephen Glicken about his lessons from his diverse entrepreneurial journey. Stephen is the co-founder and CEO of Project Admission. Glicken began his career in 2000 as an audio engineer at Circle House Studios in Miami, working with artists such as P. Diddy, Toni Braxton, Nas, Whitney Houston, No Doubt, and more. After Circle House, he connected with the Wu Tang Clan, becoming Ghostface Killah’s exclusive engineer on ‘The Pretty Toney Album’ and ‘Fishscale’. In 2004, Glicken moved to Puerto Rico to produce a couple of records and ended up living there for almost 3 years. While there he co-managed award-winning duo Zion & Lennox, and helped run The Hacienda, a venue outside of San Juan. Then, in 2006, Glicken moved to New York to start Green Owl, the first ‘sustainably-minded’ record label, with co-founder Ben Bronfman. Notable releases include Al Gore’s Live Earth DVD/CD in 2007 and ‘The Green Owl Comp’ in 2008, which included exclusive music and videos from artists like Muse, Feist, Bloc Party, and The Citizens Band. Most recently, from 2011-2017, Glicken was one of the first employees at CrowdSurge, which later merged with Songkick in 2015. Glicken opened Songkick’s/CrowdSurge’s Nashville office in 2012, where he led Business Development. At Songkick/Crowdsurge, it was Glicken’s goal to provide an easier way for fans to discover concerts as well as help to create a better experience for fans purchasing tickets directly from their favorite artists. Fueled by a passion to help protect the relationship between artists and fans, Glicken started Project Admission in late 2017 with co-founder Jordan Stone to create an improved, more connected experience for the management, distribution and exchange of digital tickets. Today, Glicken also serves as a board member for Intersection and Tennessee Riverkeeper, and as an advisor for Artiphon and Open Fan. Learn more at https://projectadmission.com/

The problem of ticketing and celebrating with songwriter/artist Mindy Smith (@mindysmithmusic) and Stephen Glicken, CEO of Project Admission. Armed with IMDB credits, running a record label, and working from the ground floor of CrowdSurge and Songkick. Stephen's latest venture is building an improved experience for the buying, selling, and distribution of digital tickets to increase data and revenue. Then Mindy Smith and I sat down not long after the re-release of her record One Moment More on vinyl and the release of Kenny Chesney's, "Better Boat". Mindy Smith, artist and songwriter, is celebrating 15 years of her first record, One Moment More. You've heard Mindy's songs recorded or heard her voice with Kenny Chesney, Dolly Parton, Amy Grant, Vince Gill, Olivia Newton John, John Prine and more. Originally from New York, Mindy made her way to Tennessee after her foster mother passed from breast cancer where she had her first taste of bluegrass music. Soon she started writing her original music and made her way to Nashville, TN where she was quickly discovered. A cover song by a legendary artist perked the ears of a producer which eventually led to her debut record, One Moment More. "Come to Jesus" was her biggest commercial hit, receiving airplay on country, adult album alternative and adult contemporary radio. The song charted at No. 32 on the Adult Top 40 chart of Billboard Magazine. In 2004, Smith appeared at the Cambridge Folk Festival in the U.K., which was broadcast nationally on BBC Radio. That same year, Smith was nominated for and won The Americana Music Association’s prestigious, Best Emerging Artist of the Year award. One Moment More is now available and can be bought from  and she's hitting the road.  Stephen Glicken's career starts in 2000 as an audio engineer in Miami, working with artists such as P. In 2004, Glicken moved to Puerto Rico to produce a couple of records and ended up living there for almost 3 years and being a part of the crew that brought Reggaeton music to the mainstream. These days, Stephen and Project Admission creates a more connected experience for the management, distribution, and exchange of event tickets. With a focus on user experience, the company’s custom technology tracks the chain of ownership for every ticket through its lifecycle, from purchase to event. Project Admission also knows that behind every ticket, there is a fan – someone who deserves to be protected from fraud and guaranteed the legitimacy of a ticket. By tracking the ticket, not only does Project Admission help fans, but it also helps venues and artists by providing valuable data for security and marketing purposes. Visit for more details about what they're doing for live events.
