You've likely heard that the fragrance business is booming, and this week, Alyssa sits down with one of the newest perfumers on the scene: Trey Taylor, founder of Serviette, which launched earlier this year. Trey began his career by climbing the ranks in independent fashion media and earning a masters in fashion journalism at Central Saint Martins — complete with stints at Dazed, Fantastic Man, Interview, and The Face — before pivoting into beauty, building his brand as a side project while keeping a full time job. Tune in for some incredible tales from Trey's time in editorial (and when he heard the death knell for his magazine career), as well as how his interest in fragrance piqued after writing an article about how celebrities smell; the challenges of being a niche brand in a massive market; what it was like learning the fragrance ropes from the legendary Marissa Zappas; the culture of Fragrantica and online perfume fandom; the process behind formulating the first four fragrances in his line, as well as its visual identity; why cultural curiosity is the driving force behind Serviette; why being delusional is important for success, and much more. This episode was recorded in the podcast studio at The SQ @ 205 Hudson. This is a public episode. This week we're digging deep into the world of flankers! Good ones, bad ones, some as big as your head. What are the flanker trends, where is it all going and are flankers always just rubbish? These questions and more await in the wonderful world of the Odes. We also take a little time to discuss the new website and Fragrantica contender FragPlace.com and it's alright, y'know. You can contact us via email at lesoderants@gmail.com or via Instagram: Dan: fragrance_weirdoJames: houdini_sotd Ben: talking_scents Fliss: fliss_sniffs_stuff During the show we may mention perfumes that were sent to us for review. We will, at all times, be completely transparent about this when it is the case and I hope you'll come to trust us enough to see that whatever the method of acquisition, we will always speak our own minds about said perfume and/or house.
We're diving nose-first into the world of Nishane flankers, especially the tantalizing Wulong Cha X, while reliving our love affair with the classic Wulong Cha. Our conversation takes a quirky turn as we dissect an amusing review from Fragrantica, comparing a scent to something you might scrub your floors with. We also share our mixed feelings about the bold and brawny Mephisto by Xerjoff, which left one of us intrigued and the other nursing a pounding headache.Support the showJoin Our Patreon
Picture this: you're standing in Neiman Marcus, entranced by the allure of a bold leather fragrance that whispers promises of untold olfactory adventures. That's exactly where Myke found himself, sparking an aromatic journey that marks the finale of our fifth season. We explore this potent scent, drawing comparisons to ombre leather, and share insights from Fragrantica reviewer Joan of Arc, who had some thoughts of her own. From berry notes to florals that emerge long after the leather subdues, each whiff tells a story, sparking debates about its place in our personal collections.Join Our Patreon

Outros perfumes da mesma linha incluem "By the fireplace" ("Ao lado da lareira"), "Whispers in the library" ("Cochichos na biblioteca"), "When the rain stops" ("Quando a chuva para"), "At the barbers" ("No barbeiro") e muitos outros. Yes you read that correctly. In today's ep, I am joined by perfumer, olfactive artist, and DJ, Maxwell Williams. We discuss what anal actually smells like (spoiler alert: he created a perfume inspired by the deed), why anal is (in fact) for everyone, the appeal of animalic scents, Fragrantica trolls and we why secretly love them, and how human sex pheromones are not a thing… yet. Maxwell discusses how getting in touch with himself helped him cultivate his sense of smell and vice versa, and how for him, fragrance is an expression of extroversion. I also take the audience on a rollercoaster of my tumultuous relationship with Abercrombie & Fitch. Basically, we cum full circle. Things get heated in Episode 37 as a comment from Fragrantica strikes a little too close to home. Myke and Ryan disagree on the purchase of a scent, and Myke takes himself a little too seriously after he finds an opportunity to use the word "sillage" in a sentence. One Night Stand Review: Fahrenheit by Christian DiorScent of the Day: Greenley by Pafums De MarlyEmail us at: TheColognePodcast@gmail.comIf you are enjoying the episode and want to support the podcast, check out: BuyMeACoffee.com/ColognePodcast
