E Bastiat diz que essa diferença é enorme, pois quase sempre, quando a consequência imediata – aquela que se vê – é favorável, as consequências posteriores, as que não se vêem – são funestas. E vice versa. Daí se conclui que o mau economista, ao perseguir um pequeno benefício no presente, está gerando um grande mal no futuro. Já o verdadeiro economista, ao perseguir um grande benefício no futuro, corre o risco de provocar um pequeno mal no presente. É assim então que conseguimos começar a compreender as razões de nossos males… A ignorância, a falta de leitura, de conhecimento, a pressa, fazem com que nos limitemos às consequências imediatas, àquilo que se pode ver, aqui e agora. Só o passar do tempo, a maturidade aliada ao conhecimento, nos ensinam a levar em conta as consequências do que não se pode ver… Sacou? E vice versa. Daí se conclui que o mau economista, ao perseguir um pequeno benefício no presente, está gerando um grande mal no futuro. Já o verdadeiro economista, ao perseguir um grande benefício no futuro, corre o risco de provocar um pequeno mal no presente. We're kicking off a month of spooooooky films with our second double feature special dedicated to two titans of 1920's German silent film, F.W. Murnau's Nosferatu (1922) and Fritz Lang's Metropolis (1927). Nosferatu is widely considered to be one of the first most popular film adaptations of Bram Stoker's novel Dracula, even if Murnau and company didn't technically have the rights. The film stars Max Schreck as the horrifying Nosferatu, as well as Alexander Granach as Jonathan and Greta Schroder as Nenia. Nosferatu has been hailed by many as one of the greatest pieces of film throughout history, and even the Vatican has it listed as one of their 45 greatest films of all time. Not to be outdone, Lang's Metropolis was an early attempt at what we would now recognize as Science Fiction. It is considered to be one of the most ambitious films of all time and even was a favorite of a certain German despot. The film stars Briggite Helm as Maria/Maschinemensch, Alfred Abel as Joh Fredersen, and Gustav Frolich as Freder. One of the landmarks of cinema, Fritz Lang's Metropolis is a 1927 German Expressionist science fiction drama about a huge, futuristic city where the wealthy live a life of decadent privilege on top of the backs of the struggling masses. Freder, its main protagonist, is shaken from his complacency by the ethereally-beautiful labor organizer Maria and her revelations about the cruelty found in the lower levels of Metropolis. Things go sideways when Freder's wicked father disguises a killer robot as Maria and sends her to infiltrate a group of workers attempting to unionize. As that paragraph strongly suggests, Metropolis has a pretty strong undercurrent of Marxism. It's pretty safe to say, if you grew up in the 80s and 90s, you played video games to some degree. This week, we finally dip our toes into video game topics, starting off with our favorite games we played as children. Also this week, we talk about Tee finally rescuing her Funko Pops from her previous branch and her journey into watching more anime, while Freder starts binge watching "Search Party" and gets amped for Hamilton to finally start playing on Disney+.

Wrapping up our Star Wars block, we dive into our favorite droids from the franchise. Also this week, Tee talks about going back to work after being furloughed for three months, and Freder finished the "The Poppy War."
