The three Wednesdays between these four Sundays are the days when a church has its midweek Advent worship services. Christmas Eve is on a Sunday this year. As with most other festivals, “Christmas” (and the season of Christmas known as the “Twelve Days of Christmas,” from Christmas to Epiphany) doesn't start until sunset. Thus, on December 24, Sunday morning would be scheduled as Advent 4 and Sunday evening would be Christmas Eve. This schedule can be adjusted according to local customs & schedules. Here at Resurrection, we'll celebrate Christmas with our Children's Service at 10:15 AM and Candlelight Worship 7 PM on Sunday, December 24. Thus, counting backward, the four Sundays before December will be our Advent celebration. We'll celebrate Advent on December 17, December 10, December 3, and November 26. Other churches may choose to celebrate Advent 4 on December 24, and Christmas Eve in the evening; still others may choose to celebrate only 3 Sundays of Advent, and Christmas on the 24th all day. Ps. Brian Abaho
Dad, you're a prophet. To be a prophet is to be God's mouthpiece. In your home, you are the primary mouthpiece of God. Like the prophets of old, your job is to speak on behalf of God. You bring God [His Word] to the people under your care. This week, we put on the mantle of prophet and we speak on behalf of God!
Life is messy. This is why we rally around the counsel of God (His Word) for wisdom on how to navigate these things.

Bow down Your ear, O LORD, hear me; For I am poor and needy. Preserve my life, for I am holy; You are my God; Save Your servant who trusts in You! Be merciful to me, O Lord, For I cry to You all day long. Rejoice the soul of Your servant, For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You. Give ear, O LORD, to my prayer; And attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, For You will answer me. Unite my heart to fear Your name. I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forevermore. For great is Your mercy toward me, And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.” Psalm 86 has the title: “A Prayer of David.” I have often thought as I read this Psalm that I should write next to David's name my own name. “A Prayer of Michael”. I believe one of the best ways to pray is to personalize the Scripture passage the Lord puts on your heart and make it your heart's desire as you cry out to Him! As you read through the Bible and especially study the subject of prayer you can't help but notice that many of the saints of old prayed back to God His Word and His promises. I'm not sure God needs to be reminded of His Word or promises, but as we pray them out loud, they strengthen our faith and trust that God will hear our prayers and answer them. Psalm 86 is one of those prayers in the Bible that I would suggest that you place a bookmark next to in your Bible. This is a prayer that teaches us that we need God's grace, mercy, and help every day! One of the greatest lessons we can learn in our spiritual journey through life is that we are always desperately needy! Not only when things are falling apart around us and we might be suffering physically, emotionally, or even mentally, but when things are as good as they can be, with the blessings of God surrounding us, we are just as needy for God's mercy, grace and strength! I will never forget reading years ago that real prayer is a sense of helplessness! My friend, the truth is that we are always totally hopeless and helpless without God! On one occasion David told his friend Jonathan that, “There is but a step between me and death.” (1 Samuel 20:3). Honestly, whether we realize it or not, every moment in our lives, day or night, “there is but a step between us and trouble, temptation, disaster, and death!” That is why we desperately need God! No doubt, that is why David prayed in this Psalm, “Unite my heart to fear your name”. In other words, he was praying, “give me an undivided heart that is totally dependent upon God's name”. God's name represents His character, His attributes and all that He is! We should make this our prayer today as we worship the Lord on this first day of the week! “For You are great, and do wondrous things; You alone are God. Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forevermore. For great is Your mercy toward me, And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.” Our salvation and deliverance from “Sheol”, which in the Old Testament was “the place of the dead” or “the grave”, is totally based on our faith and trust in the finish work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary! Because of the grace and mercy extended to us by God through Christ we can experience this wonderful salvation! David looked forward by faith to the Christ and today we are able by faith to look back to Christ and His resurrection from the grave! Today is a wonderful day to now “praise the Lord our God with all of our heart” for His salvation and deliverance. God bless!
Background Material On The Psalms Having examined some of unique characteristics of Hebrew poetry in general, let's now focus on the book of Psalms itself... The Origin Of The Word "Psalm" a.)‘Mizmor' is the Hebrew word for PSALMS & means melody (music), or songs (words –poetry with/without Music)…Ps. 67 & 68…used 57 times…used in Praise & Worship..From a root word meaning to ‘prune or cut off' ..thus speaks of a composition that cuts off all else, is simple & to the point The Greek word is "psalmos", from the Hebrew word "zmr" meaning "to pluck"; i.e., taking hold of the strings of an instrument with the fingers. It implies that the psalms were originally composed to be accompanied by a stringed instrument. "Psalms are songs for the lyre, and therefore lyric poems in the strictest sense."(Delitzsch, Psalms, Vol. I, p. 7) David and others therefore originally wrote the Psalms to be sung to the accompaniment of the harp. In New Testament worship, we are told to sing the psalms to the accompaniment of the heart: "...in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord" (Ep 5:19) The phrase, "making melody," comes from the Greek word "psallontes" (literally, plucking the strings of). Therefore, we are to "pluck the strings of our heart" as we sing the psalms (i.e., to sing with emotion). b)Tehillium There is NOT a Hebrew Title for the Book of Psalms that encompasses all of the Psalms…Many Psalms (2 out of 3) had individual Titles. Probably the most common Title was ‘Tehillium' ( used of Ps. 96 + 30 other Psalms) …The root of Tehillium is ‘Hallal'(Hallelujah) or ‘Praise'…literally means to show, be brilliant, be clear(SHINE)……Point: As we Praise God we begin to see things more clearly than any other timeJ! There is NOT a Normal TITLE For the Book of Psalms in its entirety, about a 116 of the 150 Psalms were given each an individual ‘TITLE' or inscription showing it was intended for a specific Instrument or Chief Musician ‘UPON' means theme ,occasion, object of attention, could also mean the type of instrument used ‘OF' = Author ‘FOR' = Whom the Psalm was directed to for use or attention(Ps.72,84) BREAKDOWN of Titles: 52 had simple title of ‘A Psalm of David', 14 had Historical Titles( ex. When David fled from His enemies) 4 Tiles listed a specific purpose like for Sabbath day,15 Had a Degree , 31 had special & unique inscriptions No paragraphs in Hebrew so had to decide beginning of next Psalm Some TITLES… MICHTAM(Mik-tam) Meaning “To Teach”,also suggests engraving on tablets, alluding to the 12 tribes engraved on precious stones on the breast plate of the High Priest, signifying Israel was His special Treasure engraved upon God's Heart… Psalm 16,56,57,58,59,60 SHIGGAION,SHIGIONOTH Means Obscure, wild , rhythmic song & dance, ‘Moffatt' says of this title, means a song of irregular form; wild & vehement in character,' they were beside themselves as they danced', A reaction to a heavy anointing of the Spirit of the Lord, dancing , praising , shouting, singing with unrestraint… see David in II Sam. 6:16..Psalm 7, Hab. 3:1 Shoshannim Means ‘Lilies or Choice Ones' 45,69,80 MASCHIL (Mas-kil) Means Instruction & also alludes to skillful singing & playing Psalm32,42,44,45,52,53,54,55,74,78,88,89,142 JEDUTHUN Means ‘A Choir of Praise' Jeduthun was formerly Ethan..A Levite one of the three masters of music appointed by David. (1 Chr. 16:41, 42; 25:1-6) His office was generally to preside over the music of the temple service. They set up a perpetual order of praise & worship in the Temple…Through their singing & playing of instruments God was glorified & spoke prophetically to His people(II Chron 25:1)…PSALM 39,66,77 LEANNOTH Ellicot says of this title..a very perplexing meaning …it encompasses sickness, distress, sadness, afflictions…played or sung in a melancholy dirge , had to do with repentance & humbling of oneself..Psalm 12,13,88,53,14..Hos.5:3-15,6:1-3, Isa. 1:4-9 Deut.32:26-36 SHUSHAN-EDUTH _Means ‘Lily of Testimony' or ‘Lily of Speech'…a beautiful song of worship or Praise Psalm 60 HIGGAION means thought, reflection, meditation, solemn sound(identical to Selah) Psalm 9,19,92 SELAH IS Not a Title, yet this word is found 71 times throughout the PSALMS….means a Pause also means ROCK SHIR means to stroll or skip along in song found in 30 Titles ALL These Speak of JESUS 3.) The History Of The Psalms The oldest of the Psalms originate from the time of Moses (1400 B.C.). We have three psalms penned by Moses: Exo 15:1-15 - a song of triumph following the crossing of the Red Sea Deut 32, 33 - a song of exhortation to keep the Law after entering Canaan Ps 90 - a song of meditation, reflection, and prayer After Moses, the writing of Psalms had its "peaks" and "valleys"... In David (1000 B.C.), the sacred lyric attained to its full maturity. With Solomon, the creation of psalms began to decline; this was "the age of the proverb." Only twice after this did the creation of psalms rise to any height, and then only for a short period: under Jehoshaphat (875 B.C.) and again under Hezekiah (725 B.C.). The Authors Of The Psalms David - Commonly thought to be the author of the book of Psalms, but he actually wrote only about seventy-three (73), less than half. David's experiences can be found in the Psalms, yet NOT HIS alone. Asaph - The music director during the reigns of David and Solomon (1 Chr 16:1-7). He wrote twelve (12) psalms. The Sons of Korah - These were Levites who served in the Temple (1 Chr 26:1-19). They wrote twelve (12) psalms. Solomon - At least two (2) psalms are attributed to him (Ps 72, 127). That he wrote many more is stated in 1Ki 4:29-32. Moses - As indicated above, he wrote the earliest psalms; one is included in Psalms (Ps 90). Heman - Contemporary with David and Asaph, and is known as "the singer" (1Ch 6:33). He wrote one psalm (Ps 88) that has been preserved. Ethan - A companion with Asaph and Heman in the Temple worship (1 Chr 15:19). He wrote one psalm (Ps 89). Anonymous - The authorship of forty-eight (48) of the psalms is unknown. 4.) The Arrangement Of The Psalms The Psalms were originally collected into five "books", apparently according to the material found within them...some say each ‘book' coincides with the 5 books of the TORAH Book I (Ps 1-41) emphasizes how God is besideus.(Ps.1,Ps. 23,,dox.=Ps.41:13) Book II (Ps 42-72)emphasizes how God goes beforeus (Ps. 51)(dox. 72:19) Book III (Ps 73-89) reminds us that God is all aroundus.(Ps. 78 Asaph, God was w/Isr. Thruout their History )(dox. Ps.89:52) Book IV (Ps 90-106) focuses on how God is aboveus.(Moses Man is finite, God is Eternal) (dox. 106:48) Book V (Ps 107-150) the spotlight is on how the God is among (Ps. 128 How a man who fears God is Blessed by God) (dox. 150:1-6) The Psalms can also be arranged into chief "groups"... Alphabetic or Acrostic - These psalms have lines which in Hebrew start with words whose first letters follow a certain pattern. For example, in Ps 119 the first eight lines start with words beginning with the Hebrew letter ALEPH, the second eight lines with words beginning with BETH, etc. This may have been done to aid in the memorization of the psalm. Ethical - These psalms teach moral principles. A good example is Psa 15. Hallelujah - These are psalms of praise, beginning and/or ending with "hallelujah" or "praise Jehovah". Ps 103 is one such example. Historical - Psalms which review the history of God's dealings with His people. A good sample would be Ps 106. Imprecatory - These psalms invoke God to bring punishment or judgment upon one's enemies. Consider Ps 69 as an example. Messianic - Psalms pertaining to the coming Messiah. For example, look at Ps 2 or Ps 110. Penitential - These are psalms expressing sorrow for sins that have been committed. A classic example is David's psalm in Ps 51. Songs Of Ascent (or Songs Of Degrees) - These psalms were possibly sung by pilgrims on the way to Jerusalem to observe the feasts. They are grouped together as Ps 120-134. Suffering - These psalms are cries of those suffering affliction. Psa 102 is a typical example. Thanksgiving - Psalms of grateful praise to Jehovah for blessings received. For example, take a look at Ps 100. The various "styles" of the psalms can be described as... Didactic - Psalms of teaching and instruction (e.g., Ps 1). Liturgical - Responsive readings, for use in special services (e.g., Ps 136). Meditation - The ancient Hebrews were given to meditation, which spirit finds expression in many of the psalms (e.g., Ps 119). Praise and Devotion - Psalms of joyful praise (e.g., Ps 148). Prayer and Petition - Psalms which were sung in an attitude of prayer (e.g., Ps 51). The Music of The Psalms…. King David chose Chief Musicians & Their sons to give forth music in the Temple CHIEF MUSCIANS.. Asaph, Hemen, Jeduthun(also called Ethan) I Chronicles 25:1-7 David, together with the commanders of the army, set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun for the ministry of prophesying, accompanied by harps, lyres and cymbals. They were given him through the promises of God to exalt him. God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.) 6 All these men were under the supervision of their father for the music of the temple of the Lord, with cymbals, lyres and harps, for the ministry at the house of God. James 1:23-25 J.B. Phillips New Testament 21-25 Have done, then, with impurity and every other evil which touches the lives of others, and humbly accept the message that God has sown in your hearts, and which can save your souls. Don't I beg you, only hear the message, but put it into practice; otherwise you are merely deluding yourselves. The man who simply hears and does nothing about it is like a man catching the reflection of his own face in a mirror. He sees himself, it is true, but he goes on with whatever he was doing without the slightest recollection of what sort of person he saw in the mirror. But the man who looks into the perfect mirror of God's law, the law of liberty (or freedom), and makes a habit of so doing, is not the man who sees and forgets. He puts that law into practice and he wins true happiness.
Let's increase our wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of God & His Word. The Bible helps us in all our areas of our lives. Especially when we apply it and live by it. Let's also teach it ! Peace & Love Blessings !
[00:30] No Hope in Man (27 minutes)Four minutes after school shooter Salvador Ramos entered Robb Elementary School, armed police officers entered the building to stop him. Ramos opened fire, and the officers quickly retreated. For the next hour, as many as 150 law enforcement officials gathered outside of Robb Elementary School and waited for tactical teams to arrive before taking out Ramos. This shameful timeline of events on Tuesday and the failure of politicians to solve the crime epidemic in America illustrates a profound truth described in your Bible: There is no hope in man. [27:45] Bible Study: Real Hope in God (27 minutes)In today's study, we learn that mankind's real hope is not in men and their endless promises to save our world, but in God—His Word, His plan and His spirit power.

TAKE OFF THE BLINDERS we need to wake up believers the non-Believers are being manipulated whether you want to accept that or not we are being manipulated by politicians and many radical groups if you choose not to accept that then you have a profoundly serious problem going on spiritual warfare is real spiritual warfare is real no some of you might think that it is just something that attack Christians but spiritual warfare attacks everyone. It is crucial that every Christian understands that he/she is in a spiritual battle. There is no way to get out of it. Awareness of the spiritual battle around us is especially important. Not only awareness, but vigilance, preparedness, courage, and the right weaponry are crucial elements of engaging in spiritual warfare. In the words of Paul in 2 Corinthians 10:3–5, “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” It is clear that “our warfare” as Christians is spiritual. We are not fighting a physical battle or a human battle. It is on a spiritual level—its enemies, its prerogatives, its fortresses, and its weapons are all spiritual. If we attempt to fight the spiritual with human weapons, we will fail, and the enemy will be victorious. It is important to note that Paul is not speaking about battling demons here. When Jesus and the apostles cast demons out, it was, along with the other signs and wonders they exhibited, primarily to prove the authority of what they said. It was important at that time for God to give the apostles a powerful “proof” that they were indeed from God and were His spokesmen. The fidelity of Scripture depends on the authority of the apostles, so God gave the apostles His power to authenticate their teachings. The point all along was to show that the ultimate authority—and our ultimate spiritual weapon—is Scripture. The kind of spiritual battle that every Christian engages in is primarily a battle of the mind and heart. The spiritual battle is quite personal for each Christian. The devil is like a “roaring lion” seeking to devour, and we must remain vigilant against him (1 Peter 5:8). The enemy of our souls has “flaming arrows” that can only be extinguished by the shield of faith as handled by a believer equipped with the full armor of God (see Ephesians 6:10–17). Jesus told us to “watch and pray” so as not to fall into temptation (Mark 14:38). According to 2 Corinthians 10:4–5, there are spiritual fortresses in this world, made of the “speculations” and “lofty things.” The word speculations are, in the Greek, logismos. It means “ideas, concepts, reasoning's, philosophies.” People of the world build up these logismos to protect themselves against the truth of God. Sadly, these fortresses often become prisons and eventually tombs. As Christians, we have a calling to break down these fortresses and rescue the inhabitants. It is dangerous and difficult work, but we have a divine arsenal always at our disposal. Unfortunately, one of the enemy's best tricks is getting us to fight with human weapons rather than divine. When fighting against worldly philosophies, human wit and weaponry are of no avail. Marketing techniques, counter-philosophies, persuasive words of human wisdom (1 Corinthians 2:4), rationalism, organization, skill, entertainment, mystique, better lighting, better music—these are all human weapons. None of these things will win the spiritual war. The only thing that is effective—the only offensive weapon we possess—is the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:17). This sword gives us many freedoms as soldiers in this spiritual battle. We have freedom from fear, knowing that God is fighting for us (Joshua 1:7–9) and that He will not forsake us. We have freedom from guilt, knowing that we are not responsible for the souls of those who reject God's message after we have proclaimed it to them (Mark 6:11). We have freedom from despair, knowing that, if we are persecuted and hated, Christ was persecuted and hated first (John 15:18) and that our battle wounds will be richly and lovingly tended to in heaven (Matthew 5:10). All these freedoms come from using the powerful weapon of God—His Word. If we use human weapons to fight the temptations of the wicked one, we will sustain failures and disappointment. Conversely, the victories of God are full of hope. “Let us draw near with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful” (Hebrews 10:22-23). The hearts of those who hear and accept the true, full message of the gospel as given by the apostles are “sprinkled clean” and “washed with pure water.” What is this water? It is the Word of God that strengthens us as we fight (Ephesians 5:26; John 7:38). Some Spiritual Warfare Scriptures · 1. James 4:7 · 2. 1 John 4:4 · 3. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 · 4. 1 Peter 5:8-9 · 5. The word used here for fear is different than all the other words used for fear in the Bible. As Christians, we are a physical body, soul (mind and emotions), and Christ (God's Spirit in us). Spirit of fear is not an emotion and not physical, but is the manifested spirit of the devil himself to cause us to HAVE strong emotions of terror, with confusion and panic to keep us from having enough sense or stability to turn to God in our time of trouble or panic. If satan can terrorize us enough to cause us to delay or neglect turning to God, he will have advantage over us and as Jesus says in John 10:10, the devil will do everything he can to steal, kill and destroy us. In 1 John 5:4, the Scripture states "...this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith," which is our acceptance and obedience to God's Word. That is why we must do as in James 4:7, "Submit ourselves to God (His Word), resist the devil(spirit of fear), and he(the spirit of fear) will flee from us." Submitting ourselves to God(His Word) is our faith which gives us the victory over the world, 1 John 5:4. We make the choice, to either turn and submit to God or do it our way and give the devil advantage. It is not easy to trust God and turn to Him the first few times, but when you do and see His victory once or more, it gets easier. Not An Emotion!Website: rahardin.com -Bio, Books, Videos, Podcasts. -----We are also on Iheart RadioSchedule: M-F, 7-8AM; Sat-Sun, 6-8AM (CST)****Richard Hardin, POBox 45684, OKC, OK 73145.****Scripture states in 2 Tim 1:7, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power(Christ), and of love,(God), and of a sound mind." The word used here for fear is different than all the other words used for fear in the Bible. Listen in and hear how to get the victory over fear!We should each be actively engaged in seeking God's Pure Word because each of us are personally responsible for our own salvation and obedience to God's Pure Word, and we should be involved in helping everyone else we can with receiving their salvation. Listen in and hear how to get the victory over fear!We should each be actively engaged in seeking God’s Pure Word because each of us are personally responsible for our own salvation and obedience to God's Pure Word, and we should be involved in helping everyone else we can with receiving their salvation. #forparker #5 God Gives Us Biblical Boundaries By Louie Marsh, 2-2-2020 1) What’s A Boundary?? Boundaries are LINES I draw in my life that EXCLUDE some things from and INCLUDE other things in, my life. 2) Boundaries are BIBLICAL God CREATES Boundaries. 22 Do you not fear me? declares the LORD. Do you not tremble before me? I placed the sand as the boundary for the sea, a perpetual barrier that it cannot pass; though the waves toss, they cannot prevail; though they roar, they cannot pass over it. Jeremiah 5:22 (ESV) 25 The LORD tears down the house of the proud but maintains the widow’s boundaries. Proverbs 15:25 (ESV) Wait! Those Scriptures refer to physical boundaries!! Right! God created the entire universe and puts limits on everything! These physical things are examples of those limits! There’s a place for everything in God’s Order – and everything has its place – gravity is a good example. God COMMANDS boundaries. 23 Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23 (NIV) 26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” Genesis 1:26 (ESV) The Lord wants us to place the boundaries in our lives that will protect our heart – guard that precious center of our being! He also wants us to rule! We were made to do so under His Guidance. If your life is totally out of control – you are violating God’s Will! God COMMUNICATES through boundaries. 2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 3 For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. 4 But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor. 5 For each will have to bear his own load. Galatians 6:2-5 (ESV) Burden = “excessive burden, that crushes you; Load = old word for ship's cargo, your daily toil We are responsible to: help others with things THEY CANNOT DO. We are responsible for: dealing with the everyday STRESS OF LIFE. 3) DETERMINE Biblical boundaries. 15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 (ESV) STUDY to learn what the Bible say about your need areas. 10 For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the LORD, and to do it and to teach his statutes and rules in Israel. Ezra 7:10 (ESV) APPLY the appropriate verses to your situation. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing. James 1:22-25 (ESV) 4) I must ACTIVATE Biblical Boundaries in my life. 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. James 2:17 (ESV) I bring my heart into ALIGNMENT with God & His Word. 11 Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name. 12 I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart, and I will glorify your name forever. Psalm 86:11-12 (ESV) Soul & heart = mind, will & emotion. I am a SOUL I have a HEART. 7 And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7 (ASV) Never used of whole person, but of something the person possesses, used in the sense of conscience – the Hebrew has no word for conscience. It’s the Nexus – or the controller or the Flux Capacitor of the soul! Whole = shalem: complete, safe, at peace Transliteration: shalem Alignment: Bringing my mind, will & emotions into line behind setting & maintaining a Biblical Boundary. a• lign• ment or a• line• ment (n) The arrangement of something in a straight line or in an orderly position relative to something else; TheraTogs ULTRA Posture and Torso Alignment System PTA I LEARN the truth with my mind. I CHOOSE to obey with my will, I WARM UP to the truth over time. 5) WITHSTAND pressure to withdraw them. CHECK up - Make sure I’m on solid ground. 2 I went up because of a revelation and set before them (though privately before those who seemed influential) the gospel that I proclaim among the Gentiles, in order to make sure I was not running or had not run in vain. Galatians 2:2 (ESV) I don’t want you to be paranoid about this or to become inwardly focused. But if things don’t seem to be working it can’t hurt to check. 24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:24-27 (ESV) The goal of Biblical Boundaries is to get our lives founded on the Rock of Jesus. If we fail in this and fall, it will be a “great” fall and we’ll harm many in the process. So make sure you founded on the Rock. OPEN Up - Get all the support I can. 11 Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. 12 Greet one another with a holy kiss. 2 Corinthians 13:11-12 (ESV) If you’ve slipped your support network can help restore you. Everyone needs others you can’t do this alone. 6) INTERNALIZE my boundaries. I rely on my own WILL POWER. 20 If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world, why, as if you were still alive in the world, do you submit to regulations— 21 “Do not handle, Do not taste, Do not touch” 22 (referring to things that all perish as they are used)—according to human precepts and teachings? 23 These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh. Colossians 2:20-23 (ESV) 17 For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. 1 Corinthians 1:17 (ESV) Instead I must rely on CHRIST & HIS POWER! 13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13 (ESV)
If we want to know God, it is essential that we spend time with his truths. In this sermon, we look at how to approach the Bible in a way that connects us to the living God. Scriptures: Psalm 119:97-104 Keywords: bible, study, meditation, prayer, scripture, knowing God

Nehemiah 8:9-12
Some people think they are too bad for God. That's because man uses an insufficient scale of sin. Some are better and some are worse. We all see ourselves on the "better" side. But God sees it in black and white. We are sinless or a sinner. That leaves all in the same boat. Our redemption is not found in our goodness but in God's greatness. His greatness is shown in a sacrifice, a death, and a relationship. We are never good enough to save ourselves. Neither are we ever bad enough that God cannot save us.
The purpose of the Gospel according to John is stated in John 20:30-31 (to believe in Jesus and have life through his name). Such being the case, it shouldn't surprise us that John begins his account with three powerful proofs to confirm Jesus was the Son of God (Jn. 1:1-5).
The Bible says Christ came from the "root of Jesse." Since Jesse was David's father that means Jesus and David both came from good roots. When God chose David to be Saul's replacement as the next king, God already liked what he saw in the young, shepherd's heart. David became the product of his home. Today, this will be true of our children. This lesson seeks to challenge our hearts to understand our children will grow up from our roots.
Matthew 14 contains three very familiar stories that are like a miniature world that we live in today. This lesson takes us on a survey of these stories reminding us that while the world seems against us, we should take advantage of our opportunities to make a difference but when we fail God is always there to rescue us.
This is the fourth podcast in a special series on reading the Bible. These podcasts include helpful excerpts from books by Watchman Nee and Witness Lee that provide insight about reading the Bible. We’ve received two precious gifts from God—His Word and His Spirit. The Word reveals God to us so that we can know Him, and the Spirit transmits God to us so that we can possess Him. The Spirit without the Word is intangible, while the Word without the Spirit is mere letter. God’s Word makes the intangible Spirit substantial to us, and God’s Spirit makes the Word of God living to us. The Bible makes known to us the things of the Spirit, and the Spirit makes real to us the things in the Bible. The Word of God and the Spirit of God are one. Second Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is God-breathed,” clearly indicating that God’s Word is His Spirit exhaled. Thus, the logical way for us to take in God’s Word is to breathe in the Spirit who is incorporated in the breathed-out Word. Since the Word is embodied in the Spirit and the Spirit is received through the Word, the most basic and important thing in our reading of the Bible is to exercise our regenerated spirit to contact the Spirit in the Word. In his book, How to Study the Word, Watchman Nee says: “John 6 says that the Lord’s words are spirit. The basic principle is the same: Since the Lord’s words are spirit, we have to read them in spirit. In other words, we can only touch spiritual things with the spirit. “The Bible is not only a book with words or letters printed on pages of paper. The very nature of the Bible is spirit. For this reason, everyone who reads this book must approach it with his spirit; it must be read with the spirit.” Ephesians 6:17-18 tells us to “Receive the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which Spirit is the word of God, by means of all prayer and petition, praying at every time in spirit and watching unto this in all perseverance and petition concerning all the saints.” Note 1 on verse 18 in the New Testament Recovery Version says, “This indicates that we need to receive the word of God by means of all prayer and petition. We need to pray to receive the word of God.” The way to read the Bible is not by a particular method, but with prayer. By prayer we exercise our spirit. When we pray properly, we exercise our spirit, we are in spirit, and we touch the divine Spirit. Since the same Spirit who dwells in us is also contained in the Scriptures, whenever we read the Word with a prayerful spirit, we enjoy the riches, receive the enlightenment, and appropriate the power in the living Word of God. In this way, the Bible will cease to be merely a book of history, ethics, doctrines, or prophecies to us and become rather a source of spiritual supply. Both the Word and the Spirit are Christ Himself. In John chapter 1, He is the eternal Word, in Revelation 19:13 He is called the Word of God, and according to 1 Corinthians 15:45, in resurrection He became a life-giving Spirit. Christ is therefore the reality of the Word and the Person of the Spirit. Each time we open the Bible we must be conscious that we are approaching Him; we are not only reading His Word, but also communing with Him as the Word. In John 5:39-40, the Lord Jesus reproved the Jews for searching the Scriptures without coming to Him that they might have life. His message was clear: reading the Bible without coming to the Lord Himself can be an empty pursuit. The knowledge of the Word alone, however precious, should never replace our receiving of Christ as life in the Word. Although we should read the Word of God primarily for the nourishment of our being and not the gratification of our intellect, we must apply our renewed mental faculty—a mind under the rule of the Spirit—to understand the Scriptures. Throughout the centuries, the divine truths in the Bible, like hidden treasures, were seen only by those who toiled in the study of the Word book by book, passage by passage, verse by verse, and even word by word. As each stood on the shoulders of previous expositors of the Scriptures, with a spirit of wisdom and revelation, they saw something further and interpreted the mysteries of God, Christ, the Spirit, life, the believers, the church, the kingdom, and the New Jerusalem. Following their example, we as believers should read the Word regularly and thoroughly with understanding so that our Savior God’s desire for us to come to the full knowledge of the truth can be fulfilled. We ought to first familiarize ourselves with the Bible by reading it and learning its contents fully in their breadth and depth. Thus, for us to reap the most benefit from our Bible reading, we must adhere to the following five points: First, we must exercise our spirit in prayer when we come to the Word in order to receive the Spirit. Second, we should love the Lord Himself who is the Word and who spoke the Word. Third, we need to use our mind to grasp the facts, meanings, interpretations, and significances of the Word. Fourth, we should be ready to heed the Spirit’s speaking and obey the truths in the Word. And finally, we ought to read a fixed amount consistently on a daily basis. Be sure to listen to the next episode in this special series on reading the Bible when we investigate how we ourselves—the readers of the Bible—affect what we perceive when we read God’s Word.

Recently I was given a potted basil plant as a gift. I got all excited at the thought of having this fresh delicate herb. Smiling as I carried it home and placed it in my lanai, to my dismay, within days this young plant went from standing sturdy to shriveling, to sagging and quickly died. This scenario is true in our own lives when it comes to receiving, carrying and growing the Seed of God ~ His Word.In Matthew 13:18 -23 Jesus paints a great picture of what is happening to the Seeds of Heaven that are being sown into the peoples’ lives, and in one case He clearly says, “There is no root in them.” Vs 21So whether it’s natural outdoor seeds and plants or the Supernatural Seeds of God’s Word there is this environment, an atmosphere as a Supernatural capacity to be prepared. It is a structure within us that gives the Seed good soil to land on, with proper watering and lighting to take root and grow to producing sweet fruit. How do we do that? How do we prepare ourselves? In Proverbs 16:20 says that whoever gives heed to instruction prospers. Instruction means discipline. Correcting instruction is what develops the in- structure, the Supernatural capacity within us. The next blog will be all about how the Seeds grow in us and bring us into formation with Him.Action Steps:Ask the Holy Spirit to show you what your capacity is. Do you have the capacity to receive the His Seeds / Words? Do you have the “in-structure” that is a safe environment to be able to carry the weighty Words of God that actually put down roots and grow up?Ask the Holy Spirit to give you instructions and corrections that would begin to enlarge your Supernatural capacity while clearing things out that don't belong there and creating the atmosphere and environment that He so desires. The word of God is a living Word and imparts life into every area of your being!
