In 1950 the Israeli Parliament passed a dramatic and symbolic law known as The Law of Return. This would finally bring an end to the description of “The Wandering Jew.” The Law also brought a formal end to the execrable White Paper of 1939 (by the British Government) and a symbolic overturning of the Nuremberg Laws which the Nazis employed to determine who was Jewish. The Law of Return employed the same (non-halachic) status: if you were Jewish-enough to be condemned to death by the Nazis, then you were Jewish enough to be deserving of the protection of the State of Israel. Jewish refugees from Arab countries had to flee for their lives (and not everyone was so fortunate) to the State of Israel, resulting in the arrival of 850,000 desperate refugees. Israel cared for her brethren and saw to it that they would not be referred to or be looked upon as refugees. And yet, the primitive conditions in which they were originally housed in transit camps or ma'abarot was appalling. Learn more at TellerFromJerusalem.com Don't forget to subscribe, like and share! Support us at: https://buymeacoffee.com/2njb *** Dr. Einat Wilf has never been one to shy away from challenging the status quo. Born into a Labor Zionist family, she grew up believing in the dream of peace through compromise and coexistence. But her time working in foreign policy, education, and politics led her to some tough realizations. Over the years, she's become one of the loudest voices pushing back on what she sees as dangerous illusions—both in Israel and abroad—about the nature of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Through her books, like The War of Return, and her public speaking, Dr. Wilf has become a champion of pragmatic Zionism, unapologetically advocating for Israel's right to exist and thrive in the face of ongoing rejection. While Einat Wilf shifted gradually away from the Israeli left toward, on October 7th countless Israelis made a similar shift, only drastically. The brutal Palestinian attack not only took thousands of innocent lives but also shattered the belief for many that peace is just a matter of compromise. People who once held onto the hope of coexistence are now questioning everything. This shift, echoing the journey of Dr. Wilf, grapples with hard truths about the conflict and what it will take to secure Israel's future. Today, we're sitting down with Dr. Einat Wilf to talk about her journey, how October 7th has changed the conversation in Israel, and what she thinks lies ahead for Zionism, the conflict, and the Jewish people. Dr. Wilf is a former member of the Israeli Parliament, a prolific author, and one of the sharpest minds on these issues. We're thrilled to be joined today by Dr. Einat Wilf on the Two Nice Jewish Boys Podcast with Eytan Weinstein and Naor Meningher.

Stef Kight, political reporter for Axios, breaks down the pitch Harris is making to voters in the final week of the presidential race. The fallout from Trump's anti-Puerto Rican remarks in Madison Square Garden continues. The chairman of the Puerto Rico GOP said he won't vote for Trump unless he apologizes. The Archbishop of Puerto Rico, Roberto O. González Nieves, has also asked Trump to “personally apologize” for the comments. But Trump did not.And in headlines: Steve Bannon was released from federal prison, the Supreme Court actually rejected R-F-K junior's attempt to get off Michigan and Wisconsin's ballots, and the Israeli Parliament passed two laws that would cut ties with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency.Show Notes:Check out Stef's work – https://www.axios.com/authors/stefwkightSubscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/3kk4nyz8What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcastFollow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday

Dr. Einat Wilf joins us to discuss the sobering of many of these figures and what it means for Israel's future. Today we look back at the history of Palestinian violence against the Jews in Israel (and in the pre-state Yishuv) -- from the fall of the Ottoman Empire in 1917 through the myriad efforts to establish a Palestinian Arab State alongside a Jewish State in the 1930s and the 40s. In our discussion today, we follow this pattern all the way through the Second Intifada in the early 2000s, and now today. Each time a war or wave of terror is launched, and Israel perseveres, the Palestinian leadership tries to dictate the terms of what comes next, as though they were the victors in this defensive war, rather than the aggressors and the defeated. Why? And are we seeing that same mindset play out right now? Did Hamas actually think it would defeat Israel with this attack, and Israel would fold to its demands, or possibly even just disappear? To help us understand this important history, Dr. Einat Wilf joins us. Einat was born and raised in Israel. She was an Intelligence Officer in the IDF. She has worked for McKinsey. In the latest Z3 podcast episode Rabbi Amitai Fraiman, our host and head of Z3, is joined by Professor Yuli Tamir, the President of Beit-Berl Teachers' Training College and an adjunct professor at the Blavatnik School of Government Oxford. Israel was already in a state of commotion when the October 7th massacre occurred. There had been 39 weeks of demonstrations about the democratic reform occurring in Israel, and Amitai and Yuli discuss the public's reaction to the crisis and how the demonstrations changed. How did Arabs in Israel respond to the massacre, and what tensions do they now feel during the war in Gaza where they feel pulled in different directions? And how can Jews and Arabs both pursue the right to self-determination? All this and more in this episode. More about Prof. Yuli Tamir: In the past, she was a deputy speaker of the Israeli Parliament (the Knesset) and served as Israel's Minister of Immigration and Minister of Education representing the Labor party. In this capacity she led a comprehensive school reform, rising teachers' salaries and introducing innovative patterns of teaching. Tamir is also the author of three books, as well as of numerous articles in the fields of moral and political philosophy, philosophy of education, feminism and human rights. She is the editor of Democratic Education in a Multicultural State (Blackwell) and, Moral and Political Education together with Professor Stephan Macedo (New York University Press). As well, she served as the president of Shenkar College of Art, Design and Engineering (2000-2010). Live from the Heart of America—I'm Steve Gruber— Your Soldier of Truth—the Tip of the Spear against socialists—here ready to fight for you from the Foxhole of Freedom—AND—please my friends REMEMBER TO THINK while its still legal—this is the Steve Gruber Show—   Here are 3 big things you need to know right now—   Number One— The Powerball jackpot continues to grow—and it has now passed $1.5 billion dollars—and again—if you happen to win—we can be best friends—   Number Two— The move to remove the Speaker of the House has Republicans trying to figure out who's next—it appears Steve Scalise is the favorite—BUT Jim Jordan could pull it off too—we will see—   Number Three— WAR! For the first time in 50 years—Israel has made an official declaration of war—   The first time the nation has been at war cine the Yom Kippur War of 1973—   This time Israel was attacked by Hamas terrorists—that sent more than 5,000 rockets into the country from the Gaza Strip to the southwest—at last count more than 1,100 Israelis had been killed in the attacks—   After the rocket attacks began—Hamas soldiers poured into Israel—attacking and murdering people in their homes—men women and children all slaughtered without regard—dead bodies were defiled on video and shared globally on social media—as the monsters celebrated and danced in the streets—   This is what weakness in the White House brings—we now have the first major war in Eastern Europe in decades and the first war involving Israel in 50 years—   Weakness brings violence—because the enemies that are kept at bay by American strength—are empowered by opportunities provided by the weakness of Joe Biden and his feeble administration on the world stage— This is just another failure that could have been avoided—and I will dig deeper on that in a bit—BUT first, how could this be missed by Israel and all Western intelligence services? I mean was everyone asleep at the wheel and not just President Biden? You have to wonder, if they all missed the buildup of more than 5,000 rockets—what else are we missing?   The leaders of Hamas are now admitting that the planning for this coordinated assault on the state of Israel—was led in large part by Iran—the worlds number one state sponsor of terrorism—   And remember—Joe Biden and his team just released $6 Billion dollars to Iran—and even though its supposed to be spent on humanitarian items only—and none of it has been spent so far—its clear, that it frees up money for other things—like killing mothers and their children inside their homes on a Jewish holiday—   The acts of violence are so despicable—that most of the world has not even seen how depraved they are—its not suitable for TV news—and is blacked out on most social media too—BUT some information is getting out—   Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says with the declaration of war issued by the Israeli Parliament—they will turn Gaza into rubble—and they will hunt down every Hamas member—fighter or supporter and kill them—   He is warning residents to leave Gaza—because the IDF—is coming with a vengeance—and there will be nothing left when the shooting stops—   And what will that mean?   And sadly like I said—this is only the beginning—
