Welcome to another episode of Fratello On Air. This week, we cover the latest news on watches and other subjects. We discuss the 250th Anniversary of Breguet and several other high-end brands. It was a relatively quiet week on the watch front, but there were still releases and news. Breguet released its first anniversary model, and it's worth some words. This leads to our thoughts on other higher-end brands. Also, we discuss Rolex, but not in the way you'd expect.HandgelenkskontrolleWe kick off the episode with a discussion about a vintage mesh JB Champion bracelet Mike purchased on eBay. It's a nice accompaniment to a Speedmaster, but the current Forstner is a fantastically accurate reissue. Then we discuss several TV shows, including You, Daredevil, and Dope Thief. Balazs has bought new New Balance sneakers, which leads to a discussion on some of the brand's other releases. For the Handgelenkskontrolle, Mike is wearing a 14K Movado "Ellipse" he recently received from his father. Balazs is also wearing a recently acquired family piece, the Girard-Perregaux Scuderia Ferrari Foudroyante Rattrapante.Breguet, Rolex, and other newsWe talk about Rolex because Balazs is potentially in the market for a new model. The Datejust has become quite expensive, especially with the white gold fluted bezel. This has Balazs considering an Oyster Perpetual with a dark green dial. We'll report back once he visits the local AD's to see if there is a waiting list. Breguet released the Classique Souscription 2025, a 40mm gold watch with an enamel dial and one hand. This spawns a longer discussion about the brand and how we hope great releases are coming during this important year. Blancpain and, ultimately, Vacheron get pulled into the episode as we long for iconic classic dress watches. We hope you enjoyed today's show. As always, if you have future topics, please feel free to let us know.

In the final days of a presidential election that polls show as extremely close, we wanted to know how supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump are feeling. Our host Martine Powers and producer Emma Talkoff went to Harris's rally on the Ellipse in D.C. while producer Elana Gordon went to a Trump rally in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Today, we bring you dispatches from these two rallies that happened on the same day a week before the election. Also, we're highlighting a Halloween story. The Post has reported on eco-friendly ways to get rid of a pumpkin. Tips include composting it or even smashing it. Today's show was reported and produced by Martine Powers, Emma Talkoff, Elana Gordon and Ted Muldoon, who also mixed the show. It was edited by Renita Jablonski and Maggie Penman. Tonight on The ReidOut, Joy Reid leads with Kamala Harris responding passionately to a demonstrator in Pennsylvania, following her powerful rally at the Ellipse, as Donald Trump hints at plans to contest a Harris victory. Meanwhile, Trump offers no apology for racist remarks directed at Puerto Ricans during his recent rally, spurring prominent Puerto Rican figures to denounce him and endorse Harris. Additionally, Trump's vision for a second term includes appointing vaccine conspiracy theorist RFK Jr. to lead health agencies and billionaire Elon Musk to oversee government spending, with Musk ominously forecasting "temporary hardship" for Americans. One candidate called for unity and promised to be a leader for all Americans on the Ellipse. The other continued a grievance tour and promised mass deportations amid a “love fest” at MSG. On this last episode before the election, Senator Claire McCaskill is joined again by Symone Sanders Townsend, former senior advisor to Vice President Harris, and co-host of MSNBC's The Weekend. They tally the closing arguments of both candidates and the incredible volume of dark money in this election. Then, NBC's own data whiz and numbers guru Steve Kornacki stops by to frame up what to expect on election night and the day(s) after, how to think about the polling and what to take away from shifting early voting trends. And the last segment of this episode is for you- the voters. Claire and Symone urge you be patient, keep calm and carry on. And even if you're not in a swing state, do not sit this one out.Further Reading: As Claire and Symone mentioned, here is the Open Secrets tally of 2024's biggest campaign contributors: Who are the Biggest Donors?Want to listen to this show without ads? On Tuesday, Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a speech at the Ellipse in Washington, D.C., that was billed as the closing argument of her campaign. Harris delivered the speech at the same site as former President Donald Trump's address to his supporters on January 6, 2021, which preceded their march to the U.S. Capitol. Harris's campaign chair, Jen O'Malley Dillon, said the location of the address was meant to “crystallize the choice in this election” for voters. What if a single rally could redefine political engagement in America? Kamala Harris's recent massive gathering at the Ellipse, drawing an incredible 75,000 supporters, might just have done that. We're talking about a powerful display of unity and optimism that starkly contrasts with the turmoil of past events at the same venue. This episode unpacks the significance of such a turnout and Harris's vision for a united future, while also contemplating the role of media in shaping voter perceptions and their involvement in politics.Next up, we're tackling the thorny issue of political statements in sports. When NFL player Nick Bosa sported a Trump 2024 hat during a post-game interview, reactions were nothing short of explosive. We're diving into the double standards that athletes face when expressing political views, comparing the fallout of Bosa's move to Colin Kaepernick's iconic protest. We also question the unchecked influence of sports team owners' political leanings, and how these might subtly sway fans' loyalties and perceptions. Join us for a lively discussion on the awkward intersection where touchdowns meet political turfs. Finally, we shift the spotlight to Stephen A. Smith, the charismatic ESPN personality whose political entanglements are as intriguing as his sports commentary. We're digging into Stephen's journey from journalist to a media figure, examining his engagements with Republican politics and appearances on Fox News. How do these moves impact his credibility and influence, particularly within the Black community? As we explore these themes, we also raise critical questions about media control in today's world and its implications for democracy. Vice President Kamala Harris delivered her closing arguments in a speech at the Ellipse in Washington D.C. — where then-President Donald Trump encouraged a mob of his supporters to march to the Capitol – to try to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Stef Kight, political reporter for Axios, breaks down the pitch Harris is making to voters in the final week of the presidential race. The fallout from Trump's anti-Puerto Rican remarks in Madison Square Garden continues. The chairman of the Puerto Rico GOP said he won't vote for Trump unless he apologizes. The Archbishop of Puerto Rico, Roberto O. González Nieves, has also asked Trump to “personally apologize” for the comments. But Trump did not.And in headlines: Steve Bannon was released from federal prison, the Supreme Court actually rejected R-F-K junior's attempt to get off Michigan and Wisconsin's ballots, and the Israeli Parliament passed two laws that would cut ties with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency.Show Notes:Check out Stef's work – https://www.axios.com/authors/stefwkightSubscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/3kk4nyz8What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcastFollow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday

SERIES 3 EPISODE 60: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN - SPECIAL EARLY POSTING A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: Trump keeps digging, and a Trump surrogate named Brenden Dilley doubles down on the scatological, foul, obscenity-filled insults against Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rican people: "F*** you, f*** you right back to f***ing Puerto Rico. If you are in the f*****g United States of America right now and you're on the actual f***ing, the lower 48, you're there, you're not on your s***-ass island, you have no right to complain about how people perceive your dirty-ass island. Period. I expect more from Puerto Rican Americans…so, yes, there was a joke made at your f****ing expense, and it wouldn't be funny if your island wasn't actually a floating trash heap." As Trump pretends nothing happened Sunday - or again last night - he is torched by everybody from the Archbishop of San Juan to Bad Bunny to Megyn Kelly. A disturbed entertainer named Tony Hinchcliffe turns out to have been work-shopping the line at a New York comedy club Saturday night, destroying the Trump contention they didn't know what was coming. Now he may turn out to clinch Pennsylvania for Kamala Harris, and Pennsylvania would likely clinch the presidency for her. Meanwhile she gave the speech of her life, nailing her "final argument" before a delirious crowd at the Ellipse. It was so good even Dana Bash noticed. And there's a rumor posted online by a veteran investigative reporter about a relationship between Trump and my former MSNBC colleague Tampon Hall. B-Block (25:30) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Almost a three-peat! After flooding the world with her side of the repulsive Nuzzi/Lizza/RFK Jr story, Olivia wants to seal all the subsequent legal action? Laura Ingraham outdoes herself in Trump sycophancy. And somebody actually defends Tony Hinchcliffe's right to be an unfunny racist (on the premise that well, he was funny at the Tom Brady roast). It's the incalculably overrated Jon Stewart. C-Block (42:15) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Since he held a news conference yesterday where he took no questions, time to tell of when I met Trump at a news conference - and took questions! It was just the other day - in 1983! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Speaking from the Ellipse in Washington last night, where Donald Trump had rallied his supporters on January 6th, Kamala Harris reminded voters of the Capitol insurrection and Trump's outspoken threats to democracy. Last night, Vice President Kamala Harris delivered her closing message from the Ellipse to a crowd of roughly 75,000 people. In the speech, she highlighted her policy aspirations, commitment to fighting for reproductive rights and pledged an ethos of unity. But shortly after she left the stage, President Joe Biden made headlines for potentially disparaging Trump voters as "garbage" in a video appearance with Latino supporters. He was reacting to comments Tony Hinchcliffe made at Trump's Sunday night Madison Square Garden rally that Puerto Rico was a "floating island of garbage." Playbook co-authors Eugene Daniels and Rachael Bade dive in to how effective Harris and Trump's closing messages were and whether Biden's flub will overshadow Harris' message.
On the campaign trail in Pennsylvania, former President Donald Trump praised his Madison Square Garden rally despite backlash over crude and racist comments, specifically made about Puerto Ricans. With just one week until Election Day, Vice President Kamala Harris spoke at “the Ellipse” – the site where former President Donald Trump fired up his supporters before they stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Eye on America - Communities like Metter, Georgia, are often assumed to be deeply red – but this year, there's quiet support for Vice President Kamala Harris. It's Wednesday, October 30th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus Nigerian Muslims beheaded 4 people including a Christian Open Doors UK reports that Muslim extremists beheaded four abducted individuals recently in northeast Nigeria. At least one of them was a Christian. The terrorists released a graphic video of the murders and are believed to be from Boko Haram. In the video, an armed terrorist said, “Wherever there is an infidel, we will go and find them out by ourselves and execute them.” John Samuel with Open Doors said, “Boko Haram extremists have clearly said time and time again that they are waging a jihad against people they call ‘infidels' – that is anyone who does not sign up to their extreme interpretation of Islam. Some of the people at the top of this list, then, are Christians who are clear targets because of their faith.” 60,000 Brits sign freedom of prayer petition Alliance Defending Freedom released a petition for freedom of prayer in the United Kingdom. this month. Already, nearly 60,000 people have signed it. Authorities in the U.K. recently convicted a Christian of violating censorship zones around abortion mills. Army veteran Adam Smith-Connor had simply prayed silently near an abortion mill! Alliance Defending Freedom sent the petition to U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer. It states, “Freedom of thought is our most basic and precious of rights -- and has long been recognized in British law and every major human rights document from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights onwards.” Proverbs 29:2 says, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan.” Kamala calls Trump a “petty tyrant,” likening him to King George III Last night, Vice President Kamala Harris made her campaign's closing argument in a speech at the Ellipse in the nation's capital, reports The Epoch Times. Her campaign claimed that 75,000 people were in attendance. The rally was located at a symbolic site for two reasons. First, it had a direct view of the White House. And secondly, it's the place where Trump delivered his speech on January 6, 2021, that preceded the Capitol breach. HARRIS: “Nearly 250 years ago, America was born when we wrested freedom from a petty tyrant. Across the generations, Americans have preserved that freedom, expanded it, and, in so doing, proved to the world that a government of, by, and for the people is strong and can endure. (cheers) “Those who came before us, the patriots at Normandy and Selma, Seneca Falls and Stonewall (cheers), on farmlands and factory floors, they did not struggle, sacrifice, and lay down their lives only to see us cede our fundamental freedoms. (cheers) “They didn't do that only to see us submit to the will of another petty tyrant. (cheers) These United States of America, we are not a vessel for the schemes of wannabe dictators.” GOP Congressman: People are done with Kamala's fear mongering Appearing on The Angle with Laura Ingraham on Fox News, Republican Congressman Byron Donalds of Florida rejected the nasty tone, fear mongering, and unsupported accusations in the waning days that Kamala Harris has adopted. Listen. DONALDS: “They were joy and vibes three weeks ago. Now, everything is ‘attack Donald Trump,' ‘call him Hitler,' ‘call his supporters fascists.' “We were at Madison Square Garden. Laura, it was great to see you there. It was a fantastic night. “You had people like myself, Vivek Ramaswamy, ‘Harry-O,' the founder of Death Row Records. We spoke at that rally. Do you think the Nazis would let two black guys and a guy of Hindu dissent speak at a rally? At one of theirs? Absolutely not! But that's all they have. “The constant fear mongering and gaslighting is enough. People are sick of it. They're done. They're done with Kamala Harris and they're done with this version of the Democrat Party.” Washington Post, L.A. Times, & USA Today don't endorse for president Breaking with recent practice, major news outlets are not endorsing a candidate in the upcoming presidential election. The Washington Post announced last Friday it is not making a presidential endorsement for the first time in 36 years. The Los Angeles Times and USA Today also announced they will not be endorsing a candidate for president. In the wake of the decisions, top editors resigned and 200,000 left-leaning subscribers to the Washington Post cancelled their subscriptions. Many conservatives have concluded that Jeff Bezos and Patrick Soon-Shiong, the billionaire owners of the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times respectively, have concluded that Trump is likely to win the 2024 election and do not want to irritate him by endorsing Kamala Harris. How God spared a couple in Hurricane Helene Queen City News reports a North Carolina couple is giving thanks to God after surviving Hurricane Helene. Howard Ray and his wife, Lisa, thought they were about to die as flooding swamped their trailer in Yancey County. However, they were able to escape the trailer and use their couch as a flotation device. Eventually, they made their way to safety. HOWARD: “I don't understand. We shouldn't be alive. I mean, there's just no way. It's all God.” LISA: “Yeah, we shouldn't be alive, but God has a purpose.” REPORTER: “What do you think that purpose is?” LISA: “I'm not sure. I'm still asking questions.” HOWARD: “I think maybe what we're doing right now, maybe it gets out and shows people that there is a God.” Lisa had to be hospitalized for some cuts, and Howard, a lieutenant with the local volunteer fire department, returned to the area to help first responders. They both praised God for His protection. Worldview listeners fully fund Pakistani orphanage well And finally, if you heard the newscast on Monday, you learned that a 200-foot-deep well of a Pakistani Christian orphanage, which housed 87 orphans, had become polluted with chemicals which tragically led to the deaths of two orphans. Toward the $15,000 cost of building a 500-foot-deep well which will deliver safe drinking water, Pastor Michael, the founder of the orphanage whom I have met personally, still needed to raise the final $4,185. Thanks to several Worldview donors on Monday, the amount remaining was $3,110. And yesterday, Michele in Altha, Florida gave $100, a couple from San Antonio, Texas gave $150, a family in Lexington Park, Maryland gave $150, a couple in Paw Paw, Michigan gave $500, a couple in Kailua Kona, Hawaii gave $500, a couple in Simpsonville, South Carolina gave $1,000, and Dick and Deborah in Wayland, Michigan -- along with their teenage sons Jonas and Jeremiah who contributed money from their dog-sitting business – gave $1,054.75. Those 7 donations add up to $3,454.75. That means we surpassed the goal by $344.75. The additional money will go toward the $2,000 monthly budget which pays for the food, clothing, medical care, and Christian education of the 85 orphans. If you would like to help with that budget, send your tax-deductible donation made out to Rio Grande Valley Prayer Center, their sister organization here in America. The address is 3106 Harmony Lane, Mission, TX 78574. In the memo, write: “Pakistani orphanage.” The prayer center will then wire your money to a nearby bank in Pakistan. Please email me at Adam@TheWorldview.com to let me know how much you sent so I can offer one final report on Thursday's newscast. James 1:27 says, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Wednesday, October 30th, in the year of our Lord 2024. We're under a week to go! Well, under a week until we transition into Trump's post-election chaos plans. We're also on Day 3 of fallout from the Madison Square Garden debacle. So it was high time that the Gop attempt to manufacture some counter-outrage. But it didn't take, largely because Kamala Harris supporters turned out so, well, largely, at the Ellipse. Greg Dworkin was on hand to round up the day's news and themes, commentary on the strength of the economy, late-breaking state-of-the-race items, and of course, reminders of what's at stake. Quants will enjoy parsing the stats on early, in-person (EIP) voting, and some more of those polls that can't actually tell you much. Why can't they tell you much? Well, we've got that, too. Oh, and speaking of EIP voting, do you know why that's so much better to do in Connecticut than voting absentee, now that it's available to you? Greg does! As if to signal the end of the Era of the Newspaper, Gannett and others now join the parade of non-endorsing papers. But the Gannett order goes much further than just their flagship, USAToday. And it also turns out that the manipulation at the LA Times goes much further, as well. The panic is setting in over in the Trump camp, so the accusations are ramping up. And as you know, Every Republican Accusation is a Confession.™ So what are they confessing to? Well, in Pennsylvania, it'll be fake video of “vote” tampering. In Minnesota, it's just plain voter fraud. While in Indiana, it's a ballot theft. By someone who was, just recently, on the ballot. Somehow, though, repeatedly getting caught does not persuade Republicans that voter fraud — let alone large-scale voter fraud — would actually be quite difficult. From TikTok World comes a reminder that even old news can be new news to somebody. In this case — because it's TikTok — it's “the kids.” And “the kids” are alright. Although we definitely feel their pain as they discover, for the first time as adults, the Access Hollywood tape. More specifically, what it means to find out that their fathers, uncles, brothers, pastors, etc. knew about this years ago, and have been voting for Trump ever since. Still to come, if the story can break through some time in the near future: Elon Musk, immigration hypocrite. What? No way!

With one week left until Election Day, Vice President Kamala Harris plans to deliver her closing arguments today with a speech at the Ellipse in Washington D.C. It's the same place where nearly four years ago, then-President Trump incited a violent mob to march toward the Capitol in an attempt to steal the election. For Trump's part, he'll end his day with a rally in Allentown, Pa., a politically purple area in one of the most important swing states this election cycle. As we head into the final few days of the presidential race, both candidates will spend their time barnstorming the swing states, making their case to an electorate that appears as evenly divided as you can get. Tens of millions of Americans have already voted. Ashlyn Earnest, a poll manager in Georgia, another major swing state, talks about what it's like to work the polls on Election Day.And in headlines: The Trump Campaign faces blowback over racist comments made during Sunday's Madison Square Garden rally, ballot boxes in Washington and Oregon were set on fire, legal battles over voter suppression continue, and Brown University suspended a student-led pro-Palestine group on campus.Show Notes:Subscribe to the What A Day Newsletter – https://tinyurl.com/3kk4nyz8What A Day – YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/@whatadaypodcastFollow us on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/crookedmedia/For a transcript of this episode, please visit crooked.com/whataday

The Harris Campaign announced she'll make her final arguments to the American people next week in a speech at the Ellipse in D.C., the exact same spot where nearly four years ago, then-President Donald Trump incited a mob of his supporters to march toward the Capitol. Both political camps are preparing their final pitches to voters and organizing big events they hope can win over those remaining persuadables. Harris is set to speak at the Ellipse in Washington D.C. next week, and Former President Donald Trump is set to hold a rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City this coming Sunday. However, as the momentum appears to be shifting in Trump's favor, the Harris campaign seems to be shifting her message. Moving away from messages of "joy," Harris is now framing the former President as a 'dangerous' choice. Shannon Bream, anchor of Fox News Sunday, joins to discuss the state of the race, the reasons behind Harris's tactical change, and what the American electorate should anticipate as the race intensifies. The 2024 race is close, and Wall Street is watching. Investors are anticipated to make major market moves after the election is over, but what the moves will be depends on which candidate ends up in the White House. Both the Trump and Harris campaigns have put out plenty of campaign plans and promises, which stand to have a major impact on the US economy. Kevin O'Leary, chairman of O'Leary Ventures and star of ABC's Shark Tank, joins to give his take on VP Harris' vague policy ideas, the different ways investors will act under a Trump administration versus a Harris administration, and why Americans are still feeling the sting of inflation.
