De Ninja Crispi is de nieuwste compacte airfryer van SharkNinja, bekend van de Creami-ijsmaker en de Slushi. Het apparaat richt zich op klein huishoudelijk gebruik en eenvoudig koken, met een ontwerp dat afwijkt van traditionele airfryers. Dankzij twee glazen bakken – 3,8 liter en 1,4 liter – kun je direct zien hoe het eten gaart. De schalen zijn PFAS-vrij, vaatwasserbestendig en voorzien van bewaardeksels, al zijn ze relatief zwaar en nemen ze veel ruimte in. De Crispi werkt met een PowerPod van 1700 watt en verwarmt tot ongeveer 185 graden. Volgens Ninja gebruikt het toestel tot 50% minder stroom dan een oven, wat in lijn ligt met het algemene voordeel van airfryers bij kleine porties. De bediening is bewust simpel gehouden: vier modi (AirFry, Roast, Keep Warm en ReCrisp) zonder mogelijkheid om zelf de temperatuur in te stellen. Dat maakt het apparaat laagdrempelig, maar minder flexibel bij recepten waarbij temperatuur en tijd nauw luisteren. In gebruik levert de Ninja Crispi consistente resultaten voor snacks, broodjes, vis en kip. De ReCrisp-functie springt eruit: restjes zoals pizza of aardappeltjes worden opnieuw knapperig zonder uitdrogen. Tegelijk is de capaciteit beperkt. De 3,8-liter schaal is geschikt voor zo'n twee personen, eventueel drie bij kleinere porties. Voor grotere maaltijden of gezinnen schiet het apparaat tekort. Daarnaast vraagt het ontbreken van een traditionele lade met handgreep om wat meer handelingen bij het serveren. Qua prijs zit de Crispi in de middenklasse. Hoewel hij oorspronkelijk rond de 180 euro kostte, ligt de actuele verkoopprijs meestal rond de 115 euro. In die prijscategorie zijn airfryers verkrijgbaar met meer inhoud en meer instelmogelijkheden, ook binnen het eigen Ninja-assortiment. De Ninja Crispi is daarmee vooral een compacte, eenvoudige airfryer voor kleine huishoudens die zoeken naar snel en energiezuinig koken, met goede resultaten voor snacks en restjes. Allison DeBlair from 519Pursuit joins 980 CFPL's Mike Stubbs to talk about the 519Pledge for Socks, which brings forward the conversation of homelessness and how we all can get involved and help. From October 1st to November 15th, you can take the pledge as we head into colder months, when socks are most needed. Socks are one of the requested items by the homeless population, and when you take the pledge, you are helping provide fresh socks to members of the London community.

It's soup season and this has got to be one of my absolute favourites because it's rich with flavour but so cheap to make!  Serves 1-2    Ingredients: 1 tablespoon each butter and oil  2 onions, sliced thinly (see note)  1 scant tablespoon plain flour  3 cups beef, chicken or vege stock (or water)  Splash of white or red wine (optional)  1 bay leaf  ½ tsp sea salt  ½ tsp brown sugar  Decent grind black pepper  1-2 thick slices of bread  ¼ cup grated cheese – gruyere is traditional but you can use any    Method: In a heavy pot cook the sliced onions on a medium heat in the butter and oil. Do this with the lid on to let them sweat down. After 5-7 minutes given them a stir (lower the heat if they are getting too brown) and keep covered and cooking for 10 more minutes. Stir the flour through the onions, add a splash of the stock and cook for 1 minutes until the flour has thickened then add the remaining ingredients. Simmer, lid on, for 20-30 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning.  To serve: Grill bread on both sides, top it with cheese and grill until cheese is melted then place on top of soup in a bowl. Enjoy! It's going to be the coldest weekend of the year so far. We already know that typical energy bills will be double what they were last winter. So everyone is looking for ways to use less electricity and gas at the same time as trying to stay warm. One solution is being offered by so-called 'warm banks' - places where people can go to keep warm if they're struggling to afford heating costs. The Warm Welcome campaign now has more than three thousand places open on its website and says last week alone 80 thousand people kept warm in one of them - up by more than a fifth on the previous week. We visit Widnes library and speak to the organisers of the campaign. If you're looking for somewhere to go to keep warm the website is https://www.warmwelcome.uk/ Losing your spouse or civil partner is always a difficult time financially - the funeral, paying bills and losing a second income all add to the stress. There is money from the government to help - totalling more than £4,000 for those without children and nearly £10,000 for those with. This Bereavement Support Payment was introduced in April 2017 and is paid to surviving partners who are under the state pension age of 66. We discuss how to get it and how to avoid missing out. A third of all bank and building society branches have closed in the last decade. One solution to this is a new expansion of banking hubs. Our reporter Clare Worden visits the opening of a new hub in East Yorkshire. And how to make sure you don't lose out on claiming a Cost of Living Payment to help with energy bills. Saving Tips-To keep warm this winter.

There are six items in Tynwald this week relating to Climate Change. Overall emissions to be reduced by at least 35% by 2030 and reduced by at least 45% by 2035. There's a ban on microbeads and single use plastic, including plates, bags, straws, stirrers, cutlery, and cups; and a there's a clear plan and road map for us to become carbon neutral by 2050. There are benefits to all this too including better insulated buildings which are cheaper to keep warm, reducing energy bills and fuel poverty, reduced flood risk, cleaner water and air. Sounds like a good place to be but are you convinced it's worth the effort?

He has wide ranging mountain sport skills; snow, ice, rock, mountaineering, ski-nordic, skate, tele, alpine, mountain biking, horse riding. He has competed in over 30 Mountain Marathons and mountain activities on all 7 continents including the ascent of 18 virgin summits. He was formerly MD of Karrimor International and founder of OMM Ltd, a specialist in lightweight outdoor gear.
