We have all heard the advice, “fake it until you make it”, but there are issues with this mentality because it comes off unauthentic, which in turn makes it difficult for you to get respect. Making genuine connections, building rapport, and being self-aware, is going to take you much further toward your goals. In this episode, Kyree Oliver emphasizes the importance of being authentic in a world full of people being fake. Kyree Oliver is a former Division-1 football player and current digital marketer/men's coach. He attributes most of his success in business to his ability to understand and empathize with almost anybody in almost any position. This has lead to $100 million in revenue generated from Facebook ads as well as thousands of lives changed through his coaching and speaking. With his interest in human psychology and ability to be very self-aware, he helps other men to settle their souls. There is much less stress in being who you really are instead of trying to fake your way into certain groups that you think might aid in your success. You won't get the respect of the people you want respect from, because they will know you aren't being authentic. In this episode, Kyree and Tony talk about the importance of doing the inner work to love and know yourself and create authentic content that will foster rapport and attract genuine connections. Key highlights: How Kyree got interested in human psychology How Kyree helps men with their masculinity and finding their soul How to tell if a man is full of BS by looking at their wife when they're talking The value of earning your way into rooms with influential people vs. paying to spend time around them Tony and Kyree's thoughts on unethical coaches The problem with the “fake it until you make it” mentality Don't burn your integrity for your business How to create authentic content Tony and Kyree's social media engagement strategy Dealing with negative comments online Knowing if you should join a group or not Becoming self-aware and doing internal work to actually love yourself Find out how people view you For resources and links mentioned in this episode, visit: 365driven.com/episode267

My guest today is Kyree Oliver. With a background in College Division 1 football, Kyree started his Marketing company in November 2015 & moved from California to Arizona in 2016 & never looked back. Without a real father figure at a young age (as he says, “movies were pretty much my dad at the time”), he learned that he would need to teach himself how to be a man. Along the way, he learned that he could take pieces of people, coaches, teachers, friends' fathers and build the picture of the man he wanted to become. At 19, Kyree started interviewing people to gather as much information as possible and get a clear view of people & what makes us tick. He has interviewed well over a thousand people now (any type of person you could think of). He's done 65 end-of-life interviews at a senior home. As Kyree's goal is to help people, he's using his knowledge and experience to support the generation of young men.But no matter if you're young or … even more youthful, you can always learn something from a person with this kind of incredible experience. So, let's dive into this episode with Kyree Oliver. He interviewed them on all kinda topics, in order to understand the quest of life a bit more. First, Kyree started with his friends, uncles, and slowly moved to interviewing doctors, lawyer, monks and even death row inmates. In today’s episode Monique and Kyree talk about how he gave himself an opportunity to pull from multiple different sources as a role model and how he now uses this knowledge to impact people on the daily.HOT TOPICS OF THE EPISODE[01:56] - Monique welcomes her guest, Kyree Oliver [02:04] - Tell us a little bit about your background.I'm from CaliforniaI own a marketing company. I do sort of life coaching. I do business consulting for people[03:35] - How did you get to the point of being able to communicate calmly, but also to just give space to all of these different perspectives?I think it was detaching myself from other people's perspectives. Like, they don't need to think the way that I think in order for me to think the way that I think.[06:00] - Where does that come from? Why would we want to influence other people's opinions so much? All of us think that if more people thought like us, the world would be a better place. I think everybody thinks that[07:19] - How would you take steps to the detachment of other people's opinions?I don't think I'd say anything to those people. Our perspective isn't the same[09:09] - How do you navigate the in-between of like voicing your opinion without discriminating against other people? My job is to make as compelling a case as possible for people to either agree with the way that I think or figure out a better way to think about that same topic.[11:39] - How did you get into like, being so focused on this topic (masculinity), and why is it so important that we are talking about it?So I think that no matter who we are as people, no matter what group we belong to, what country you're from, I think we're all led by masculine and feminine energy[12:50] - Did you have the role models that you needed as a child?I had multiple role models. And by me not having that (father figure), it gave me an opportunity to pull from multiple different sources.[13:49] - Can you give me a rough picture of what masculinity looks like to you?Three pillarsA soft heart is your empathy.Thick skin is your emotional intelligence. The hard head is your grit determination.[16:06] - How did you learn all of these things and then adapting it to your own version.I think I just started piecing information together and I started seeing trends.[17:44] - How did you conduct these 800+ interviews and how did you get people to speak to you?I just started asking the people around me I started asking co-workers, family, friends, and it kind of just grew from thereI've interviewed almost any type of person you can think of.[19:00] - What stuck out to you when you interviewed all of them?I genuinely just listened to people for who they were and what their experiences were.[20:22] - What made the difference for you when you switched over from work first to basically life first?I learned how I'm supposed to set my life up before it needed to be set up that way.[23:46] - I want to know if you have any dating efficiency tips? The people who are most skeptical about it, they see it as a waste of time. They're usually people who aren't very good at it. And often they're not very good at it. Because they haven't put a whole lot of time in developing themselves to be the right person to do it.[26:29] - How can they find out about it?It's all asking yourself those difficult questions. And I think you can do to dig until you come up with an answer[28:22] - How do you make sure you don't have to be just one thing and you're good at advertising and life coaching?Commitment to being a well-rounded person is probably the biggest thing. [29:40] - Monique talks about Ikigai. The Japanese concept of combining the thing that you're really good at was the thing that you're really passionate at was the thing that you can make money off into your life's purpose[31:14] - How do you assess the person itself and not what they were doing?I start forming my opinion or informing my opinion just based on how I watch them interact with themselves and the world around them.[32:05] - Is it more important for you of how people act or how they speak? Both are very important.[32:27] - What would you tell to influence a million people right in front of you?Probably it would be just sort of generic advice of finding what's right for you and chasing what that is[34:14] - Is there a specific routine to improve yourself?I wouldn't say that there's a routine as far as how to change it. It's just a consistent, concerted effort. [35:34] - What does efficiency mean to you, then?I would boil it down to the best use of time. And maybe the best use of time is to relax sometimes maybe the best thing is to not do anything. [36:33] - what would be time-wasters for you?The time that I spend leading up to what I know I'm supposed to do or what I know, I need to do next. [38:03] - Which would be the top three things that you would suggest anyone doing?I'd say getting very clear on what your purpose is as quickly as possible and then designing your life around what that purpose is.[01:56] - Monique welcomes her guest, Kyree Oliver [02:04] - Tell us a little bit about your background.I'm from CaliforniaI own a marketing company. The old business proverb “fake it till you make it” in today's world of business and marketing is not always the best path to take without your own company. Welcome to Should I Start A Podcast where each week Ronsley Vaz, with the help of a star-studded entrepreneurial guest lineup, explores why you should start a podcast; build an audience, and how to keep them hungry for more. If you're thinking about starting a podcast or simply looking for a better way to get your message out to your audience, then this is the podcast for you. When you meet a 25-year-old, you might not be interested in their advice on business and life. But what if that 25-year-old had already built a thriving business and established themselves as a thought leader in the marketing space? Kyree Oliver has done exactly that as the owner of Influkz Interactive, a social marketing and consulting company based in the US. On the latest episode of Should I Start a Podcast, Kyree and I had an enlightening talk about his unconventional journey into marketing, why the industry is awash in fake social media “experts”, and why up-and-coming business owners probably shouldn't even focus on marketing. It’s time to pick up your slice of humble pie and buckle up to listen to Lee Kemp, multi-award winning national wrestling legend, talk with me about the challenges and thrills he’s faced during his decade-spanning career. An overarching theme of our conversation today is on the subject of humility, especially why this is such an important trait to have as an athlete. We touch on Lee’s incredible past and what some other vital traits athletes should have in order to succeed. A little known fact about Lee Kemp is that he actually didn’t like wrestling when he first joined his high school wrestling team. Struggling with disappointment over not making the basketball team, Lee joined the wrestling team as a freshman, two years after most kids start learning the sport. But when he started winning matches almost immediately, his feelings towards wrestling changed from indifference to love. In this episode, Lee and I talk about disappointment and why it will probably still live with you even decades after the event. It’s okay to still feel that disappointment, but it’s not okay to have it dictate your life. Lee has used his Olympic disappointment to help him coach athletes and make a difference in their lives. We also look at the baggage we all carry around. We all usually attribute baggage to negative life experiences, but that’s not always the baggage we have. Sometimes, our baggage is our positive life experiences that we’re not living anymore. But a big theme in this episode is humility. Learning to be humble is one of the most important things you can do in life. Humility will positively impact your life at all points: your professional career, in sports, and your personal interactions. How do you stay humble? Have you suffered a huge disappointment? Do you make a point to celebrate other people’s success? Let me know in the comments on the episode page! In This Episode: How to deal with massive disappointment and loss, even decades after it happened Why you can often get more satisfaction watching someone else’s success How baggage can be more than just negative past experiences Why it’s so important to stay humble for both your career and personal life Why you need to have a sense of arrogance in sports, especially wrestling How to handle abrupt changes in your life Quotes: “Just keep it moving forward instead of looking back. Because, for some people, that’s all they have [an accomplishment] from 20-30 years ago.” (18:14) “If you don’t pay your rent today, you’re out. Doesn’t matter what you did yesterday, the rent’s due every day. And if you’re not prepared to go to work tomorrow, you’re not gonna have the success. And life is that way. You’ve gotta put that effort into everyday living. You have to put it into relationships.” (20:53) “Anyone can be beaten, even you.” (30:06) “Take the focus off of yourself and try to help other people.” (42:04) Links Find Lee Kemp Online Follow Lee Kemp on Facebook | Instagram | Twitter Watch Wrestled Away: The Lee Kemp Story If you liked this episode, you should probably check out these past episodes: 018: How To Turn Tragedy Into Fuel For Living Your Best Life w/ Steve Datte 005: Why You NEED To Learn How To Set & Enforce Strict Boundaries w/ Kyree Oliver 002: What It Looks Like To Keep Fighting When Times Get Tough w/ Sifu Alex Richter Come hang out with an amazing group of badass women in a private, supportive community, Bad-Ass Women Owning Sexy Check out the full show notes for this episode! Divorce is a truly traumatic experience, but one that we often don’t think of as causing grief in our lives. And going through a divorce can be one of the most difficult things a person can experience. They’re full of heartbreak, hardship, anger, regret, and hatred. My guest today, Mike Kim, is an internationally known branding specialist - but it’s his traumatic divorce that led him to where he is today. Mike opens up today in this incredibly emotionally raw episode to talk us through what happened to turn his 12-year marriage sour. We’re getting really messy and personal in this look inside the male psyche during a rough divorce. During this time, Mike didn’t know how to cope with his anger and grief and turned to so many other methods to cope with his divorce. In this episode, we’re talking about blocking and why it’s important to feel your feelings. We also go into how a messy divorce and a spouse who has cheated on you can seriously impact your confidence - not just in getting out and dating new people, but on a business front as well. How do you know when it’s time to seek some outside help to guide you through your trauma? Have you gone through a divorce? Or are you currently going through one? How do you communicate with your partner through the tough times? What coping mechanisms do you use going through something traumatic? Leave a comment on the episode page! But men get mad because they’re sad. And until men deal with the anger, we can’t actually get to the root of the hurt.” (21:21) “I have made the decision to not be victimized anymore, to not be traumatized, to not allow people into my life who are going to take advantage of me. Whatever you are going through in your life, you’ve made a decision.” (25:30) “I was able to finally say something to her after the anger had passed. And I was able to admit: “Hey, I know you actually tried to say sorry, I just couldn’t hear it at the time. And that was on me. But I just couldn’t hear it at the time.” (55:56) “I didn’t know how to express anger in a healthy way. I just shut completely down.” (1:06:35) “Life is not meant to be lived by default. This was a special Christmas episode, I saw my Facebook friend Kyree Oliver post this message Christmas Eve offering to help pay for peoples bills that were struggling over the holidays, then next day he posted this: "Alright! $1,700 in people’s bills paid yesterday, including: 2 electricity bills 2 water bills 3 cell phone bills 3 car payments! $1,700 to change 10 lives is a HELLUVA trade to me. I had a total of about 30 requests so if you’d like to help somebody out, let me know what you are able to contribute and I’ll link you with a person in need
“I come as one, but I stand with 10,000.” This famous quote from Maya Angelou is the sentiment that Erica Marie Wigley has structured her entire life and businesses around. We’re talking in this show about how she has gone from being unhappy and struggling with the life she had to discovering what her right path is and turning that into reality. I actually met Erica when we were attending a Tony Robbins’ event that changed our lives and encouraged us to push past our fear and do it anyways. Erica is a life coach, mother of two gorgeous boys, developed and runs her own skincare range that was stocked in Whole Foods all over the country, and a strong woman who has faced a lot of hardship in her life. She carries her family with her in every conscious decision she makes. Are you okay with the life that you’re living? Are you at peace with the career path you’ve chosen? Setting boundaries and expectations up front is the key to any successful business and personal relationship. I’m talking to Kyree Oliver about the importance of clear communication, why it’s so easy to learn what you don’t want out of a relationship, and how women can express the masculine aspect of their personality while still allowing their male partner to feel validated. Kyree is a successful marketing entrepreneur, but his roots are in college football. After leaving his scholarship behind, he spent years interviewing over 600 people from all walks of life about love, friendship, relationships, money, death, and more. Have you ever found yourself in a difficult situation between a work contract and a crisis? How do you make your expectations clear when entering into a relationship? Is it possible to be in a relationship while owning both the masculine and feminine sides of your personality? I'd love to hear your experience in the comments! In This Episode: How racial descriptions have evolved over time and why it matters How to know when you need to draw a line under something that’s bringing you pain, stress, or discomfort Why having a zero tolerance policy in regards to boundaries might be necessary when building personal relationships What men perceive they should be doing versus what women perceive should be happening Why you should make sure your expectations are made clear from the beginning of any relationship How women can speak up and express what they want while protecting the male ego Quotes: “When I set up my boundaries ahead of time, I don’t have to think when that happens, I just do what I know I’m supposed to do.” (9:38) “There’s no limit to where I’ll go when I really believe in something, or when I really care about somebody.” (15:54) “The more we can learn from other people, the easier it will be to be grounded and not have to go through a traumatic or crazy situation in order to obtain that.” (18:54) “You have to tell most men explicitly ‘here’s what I need from you’” (39:15) “Real masculinity is holding space for women. Real masculinity is making men feel like they can tell men the difficult things that they don’t want to see sometimes because women have to protect man’s ego.” (41:55) “Honour the shit that you’ve been through so that you can love yourself the way you are today.” (57:25) Links: Find Kyree Oliver Online Follow Kyree on Facebook | Instagram | Instagram Come hang out with an amazing group of badass women in a private, supportive community, Bad-Ass Women Owning Sexy Check out the full show notes for this episode! Sigh… This is one of the heaviest podcast episodes. It deals with pain, confusion, and some of the toughest realities of life—such as abuse, death, and murder. Every once in a while, the craziest of things comes into our life. Sometimes, we don’t think some of the most horrible things could come into our world, until they do. We don’t know where it came from. We don’t know how to even deal with it. There is no explanation. Please note: The conversation is heavy, and possibly triggering. Out of any of the episodes I’ve published, this is the first I must put a NSFW warning on. But it was one my friend Kyree Oliver and I felt we needed to have to hopefully allow the wounded to find healing. And to perhaps invite in meaning and purpose from life’s greatest pains.
In today's episode, we get TACTICAL about marketing. Kyree provides some incredible perspective for the 25 Tribe as well as real, applicable marketing and branding tactics that actually work. No spamming people, no clickbait, but an actual respected brand that helps you generate revenue for yourself. Kyree Oliver is a former Division-1 football player who has been able to generate multiple 8-figure revenues for clients despite never taking a marketing course, or even reading a marketing book. Over three years and after interviewing over 850 people, Kyree has mastered the art of building audiences that go much deeper than their interests; they dive into the core of the audience and how they view themselves and the world around them. Why your accountability starts with you looking in the mirror Show notes. Have you ever felt like life just happened to you without your consent? Kyree Oliver found himself thinking this exact thought about two years ago. He was in his dorm room at college, thinking about the physical, mental, and emotional abuse he underwent in the previous five months of his life. He felt as though he had lost all control over his life and that he was simply life’s punching bag. Kyree needed a hero to save him but the people closest to him at the time, his teammates, were the people putting him through the abuse. He realized that if anybody was going to save him it HAD to be himself. He realized that he needed to build himself up so that one day he could look in the mirror and honestly say, “I did it… I pulled it together and saved myself” he let life happen to him up to that point, but from then on he became the author of his own life’s story. He became the Hero in the Mirror. We Talk about Mindset shift Success in motivational speaking is hard because no one can believe in you other then YOU You are you're own Hero Detaching yourself from the people that are closest to you so you can live your own dreams It doesn't matter who someone is people can still make mistakes.
