What started with friends and family grew into a community. The Summits Podcast is an extension of that community. Our stories are what bring us together. Artists, athletes, doctors, business people - we're all family members, community leaders, and activists. Everyone has a story. Anyone can inspire. No one battles alone. Join the conversation. Let's climb the summit together.
The breast health inequities that Black women in the U.S. experience are a social imperative that calls for collective action. Black women are about 40% more likely to die from breast cancer than white women. To help address these inequities in Indianapolis, a group of community organizations recently came together to host a discussion about community-based resources that service breast cancer patients, to identify resource gaps and to discuss how they can work collectively to ensure Black women have access to the breast health care and support they need in their community. Lisa Hayes, the Director of Women's Health at Gennesaret Free Clinic and Executive Director of Pink-4-Ever Ending Disparities, is here today to tell us about this initiative and how this community is coming together to collectively use their resources to support the women in their area. Summertime is well under way and teens home from school may be tempted to spend more time online. To help parents get teens excited about taking a break from their phones, TikTok recently introduced a number of tools and programs to reduce screen time and encourage safe online habits. This summer, TikTok is partnering with Barnes & Noble to support summer reading with the new #BookTokChallenge. Through August 31, TikTok encourages people to discover and read new books and share their reactions with the TikTok community using #BookTokChallenge. Barnes & Noble visitors can also scan a QR code at participating locations that takes them to a dedicated #booktok hub featuring popular books and bestselling authors across a range of literary genres - all in an effort to unite the TikTok community around the love of reading. TikTok also offers several tools to help people control their screen time. A screen time management dashboard gives people visibility into how and when they are using TikTok and the ability to set time limits; screen time breaks remind people to take a break after a certain amount of uninterrupted screen time; and several top creators have made short videos encouraging users to take a snack break, explore the city, go outside and rest your body and mind -- which have already generated millions of views.

Did you know Black women are 40% more likely to die from breast cancer than white women? Higher rates of death from breast cancer in Black women are due to a combination of factors, including barriers to early diagnosis, the aggressive nature of certain breast cancers that are more prevalent in Black women, genetics, lack of quality care, discrimination, and systemic racism. In this first segment of two episodes on the topic, guest speakers from Lilly and Pink-4-Ever Ending Disparities will shed light on these issues and share how they are working together to combat these life-changing obstacles so that Black women can access the education, care and support they need while living with breast cancer. I'll (Kiwi) never forgive Lynn Minmay for the way she treated Rick Hunter, or the way Rick Hunter treated Lisa Hayes. Sometimes it takes the near destruction of your planet and the subsequent uprising of the people who attempted the destruction to really show you what you have and what's important. Am I right? But I digress ... This week we welcomed Austin Smokowicz, one of the designers (along with Aaron Honsowetz) of Robotech Reconstruction, who taught us the game and sat with us during our play through. And since I never know who is listening at any given time, and I am 100% responsible, 100% of the time for what I say to myself, it's up to me to do what I can do to evict the negative and feed the positive in everything I will BE and DO. So, I ask myself daily - “how can I” and I do that. Lisa Hayes, Managing Local Ombudsman with the Houston-Galveston Area Agency on Aging and Greg Shelly, Managing Local Ombudsman for Harris County may have some answers. The calling to be a coach is special. We think being a coaching is one of the most special professions there is and coaches are incredible people. However, the industry itself can be tricky. Building a coaching practice so you can do good work in the world isn't as simple as some would have you think. We are going to share seven things we wish every coach knew. These are things we wish we'd known when we started out. If you're a coach, or think you might want to be one, you don't want to miss this show.
In the world of coaching words like goal setting, motivation, and accountability get tossed around a lot. A lot of clients will come to the work thinking that's what they will get. However, working with a law of attraction coach is an entirely different ballgame because a law of attraction coach has an entirely different compass point. Putting it simply an LOA coach will dial in on how it feels. They are way more likely to talk about inspiration than motivation. A law of attraction coach is likely to encourage a client to work less and not more. Some people might think law of attraction coaches are less focused in getting results. That couldn't be further from the truth. However, in LOA coaching results are measured in how those results feel vs. what they look like on paper. A law of attraction coach knows that getting there won't matter if it doesn't feel good. We're going to talk about the distictions and why working with an LOA coach might be the best investment a client could ever make.
Known as a bastion of independence on the American frontier, the Scots-Irish city of Hannastown was considered a vital target of Pro-British forces during the American Revolution. In 1775, a full year before the penning of the Declaration of Independence, Hannastown produced their own document challenging the Crown. As many of the Patriot armies most infamous troops emerged from the town, Seneca warriors razed Hannastown in 1782. It was the greatest Indian victory of the American Revolution. On this episode our guests are site supervisor Lisa Hayes and Dr. Peter Gilmore...spared no expense.
Host Brian Wesolowski tackles a supremely interesting topic, sitting down with Professor (and previous DC Public Defender) Andrew G. Ferguson. His new book," The Rise of Big Data Policing," takes a look at the latest data fueled technologies being used by police departments and examines the impact these technologies are having on society. Would you be comfortable having a score attached to you about your potential to commit a crime? Then Brian brings in Lisa Hayes, CDT's Vice President of Strategy & General Counsel, to talk about a Supreme Court case that deals with law enforcement access to cell phone location data. As that data becomes more precise, should law enforcement be able to access information about our cell phone location without a warrant, or should that information be more fully protected under the Fourth Amendment? I'm in the spiritually based personal development business. I think a lot of people could transform their lives by taking a deeper dive into learning about spirituality. Reading the books, buying the stuff, spending time in the sphere of a teacher can be life transforming. However, the key is to find yourself in the teachings vs. trying to recreate yourself to be a knock-off of a master. When it comes to the depths of your soul, no one can be your guru but you. You are your own best guru. No one else can feel the stir of your heart. You aren't going to find your fire in the pages of a book. It's your life work to examine the DNA of your soul, then figure out who to sooth it and grow it on your unique journey to your specific brand of enlightenment. We are going to talk about how to find yourself on your spiritual path without getting lost in the shiny wisdom of other people along the way. Read the blog post HERE.
There is a difference between being nice and being likable. We've all met people who were very charismatic but not that nice under the layers of likability. However, it doesn't matter a lot how nice you are on the inside, if people don't like you, they probably won't bother to get to know you much past that first impression. There is a science to likability. A lot of it has to do with chemistry. However, there are a few basic tweaks we can all make to be more likable and engage with people more openly. Read the blog post HERE.
It is so easy to put your deliberate creation practice on autopilot or even coast when you're busy. Let's face it though, we're all almost always busy. There are a lot of excuses for not doing your deliberate creation practice. However, if we put it first on the list and organized our lives around it, chances are pretty high, life would get a lot easier. We all procrastinate. We all skimp. However, letting your deliberate creation practice sit on the back burner makes everything you do a lot more difficult than it needs to be.

Studies have been done on this and demonstrate that if you want to have any significant influence on someone you need to keep your positive to negative observation ratio at about 7 to 1. That means you're saying seven times more positive things to someone than sharing negative observations about them. When you think about that, it makes perfect sense. However, we're going to talk about the neuroscience of why it works and how to make that equation work for you. Read the blog post here.
I'm not a big fan of black and white judgments about what's a lie and what isn't. Generally speaking, I'm not terribly invested in the "truth." The truth is very, very fluid. Almost every lies, at least to themselves. Hell, from moment to moment what's true can change for any one person at any time. Especially when it comes to my thoughts, I know the most accurate indicator what's true is pretty simple. Does this thought work? Does it get me the kind of results I want in my life? Does this thought hold water for the long haul? If it doesn't, I have to admit to myself that thought is a lie. Lies don't yield great results no matter how long I'm lying to myself. I've lived my life by some really bad lies. There were lies I told myself so often they became a very shaky foundation under an unstable life. I know I'm not alone. We're going to talk about 3 lies women regularly tell themselves in some form that we should all give up now. Read the blog post here.

Because we can rarely see our programming, we spend all of our time playing the same game by the same rules. Doing the same thing over and over again will naturally produce the same result. If you want different results in your life, you might want to change the game and the rules. The good news is you can. It's your life. You get to do it however you'd like. When your program is hidden and very fixed sometimes the easiest way to shift it is to be extreme intentionally, and then over time you settle into a more productive mid-point. Lisa Hayes is going to talk about three ways you might turn the traditional rules upside down and start playing by a more subversive set of rules to yield better results. Read the blog post HERE.
The thing about comparison, or even critical comparison is that it's a part of that reptilian programming. In a life and death situation, all animals instinctively check out each other to see who's more fit for survival. At our core we are animals. However, in our lives we are human. Sometimes those two parts of ourselves don't play nicely together. The point is this: don't be hard on yourself for noticing you are doing the comparison thing. It's an instinct. However, that instinct is an impulse and you don't have to give into it. http://www.lisamhayes.com/blog/post/4-ways-to-opt-out-of-the-critical-comparison-mind-fck-loop
Sometimes dating feels a lot like the lottery. It's random, the odds aren't in your favor, and playing is expensive. However, it doesn't have to be that way. Dating done with clarity and intention is fun. If you aren't having a good time, you aren't doing it right. In order to avoid a lot of heartache, you want to know what to look for so you can avoid dating people who are way more likely to break your heart for no good reason. Playing the odds is easier when you know the rules of the game. Sure, anyone can change. However, if someone is flying two or more of these red flags, you're probably going to want to take a pass and invest your energy with someone who's more likely to be able to be in a long term relationship.
Jacqueline Gates, AKA The Goddess Known as Jacqui, is the coined the term "LOA Nesting". LOA Nesting is the art of using your environment to leverage alignment with who you want to become. Having experienced this magic, I can personally say this is both art and a science that feels like magic. When you're using your environment as a manifesting tool you are surrounded by the energy of what you want to become daily. It makes unfolding a new identity feel effortless. The good news is LOA Nesting is easier than you think and doesn't have to cost you a fortune. In fact, it can probably be done with a lot of intention and no money spent at all.
Self-worth is one of those things you can easily measure from the outside looking in. However, when you're trying to assess it for yourself it can be tricky. The truth is our lives don't lie. The results you're getting an any given time in your life will tell you what your self-worth is every time. From a law of attraction standpoint, the Universe can't deliver what you don't think you deserve, so this a very important place to have clear awareness. We're going to talk about three telltale signs you might need to examine what your self-worth really is and do some work.
There are a lot of things no one tells you parenting before you have kids. One of them is that you'll love more than you ever thought possible. The other is that is can be very hard and really lonely. The pressure to do it right is overwhelming. However, there is no one right way to parent. Every child is different. They change daily. It's easy to get overwhelmed and feel out of control. Sara Exley is a parenting expert, hypnotherapist, and mother of twin boys. There is a way to parent with less conflict and more joy and ease. It starts with a lot compassion, for yourself first and then your children. More than anything Sara is real, honest, and open about her journey as a parent. Sara is joining us to talk about how to love yourself and love being a parent.
Relationships can seem tricky especially from a deliberate creation standpoint. Anytime you put more than one person in the mix, with all of their stories and stuff it can get really crowded and complicated on the energetic playing field. However, a relationship will tell you more about yourself than anything else. You never really know yourself until you experience yourself with other people. LOA makes some bold promises. The boldest of which is that you can have anything you want. When it comes to relationships it's not that clear-cut. You can't make someone love you or make them be something they aren't. You can have any relationship you want, just maybe not anyone you want. We're going to talk about 4 LOA hacks to help you have better relationships, romantic or otherwise. We're getting back to the basics, but the basics really matter.
Ming Chee is the Money Alchemist. She is an expert at seeing money for exactly what it is - energy. Energy is a lot like water. It flows or it doesn't. It has a tendency to get blocked or stuck. Ming is a magician at helping clients not only see those blocks but clear them. Using law of attraction, Ming works with people to get the money they're looking for and she's going to share some of that wisdom with us.
I always wondered how astrology factored into deliberate creation. If you can't change what's in your stars how does a deliberate creator really design a life? However, when you understand the influences in your numerology or astrology is like having an operator's manual for manifesting your desires. Janette Dalgliesh is a deliberate creator's astrologer. She has a way of making the stars make sense and an instinct for how to leverage them in the process of becoming what you were born to be, which is exactly who you want to be.
