He was previously a reporter on the Thames TV This Week, head of current affairs for London Weekend Television, Chair of the London Assembly, Chair of the Commission for Racial Equality, and Chair of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, as well as having run several businesses. In the first episode of our seventh series we discuss why Trevor never became a BBC staffer, what the events over the summer revealed about the culture of the BBC, the BBC's approach to ethnic minorities, multiculturalism, his career, his friendship with the Chair of the BBC, Samir Shah, and the importance of public service media and local coverage."We're talking on the day that the Grenfell Inquiry Report is going to be published. There is no way in a million years that Grenfell, 30 years ago, would not have been a story before the fire, because, certainly, the programme that I presented, the ITV London programme, would have been all over it, year after year." To support our journalism and receive a weekly blog sign up now for £1.99 per month: www.patreon.com/BeebWatch/membership Or if you'd rather make a one-off payment (which doesn't entitle you to the blog) please use our crowdfunding page:https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/roger-boltons-beeb-watch-podcast @BeebRogerInstagram: rogerboltonsbeebwatchLinkedIn: Roger Bolton's Beeb Watch email: roger@rogerboltonsbeebwatch.com www.goodeggproductions.uk Get bonus content on Patreon Hosted on Acast. The latest edition of Behind the Scenes features the first of a two-part conversation with London Weekend Television and pop music video Production Assistant (Script Supervisor), the magnificent Victoria Sturgess. In a career which started in the late 1960s she worked extensively with legendary director Bruce Gowers on innumerable LWT series, travelling the world with David Frost, and filming Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody” video.  Victoria's early career also involved working with Producer-Director Mike Mansfield covering so many iconic pop performances including the Blind Faith and Rolling Stones 1969 concerts in Hyde Park.  She also kindly chats about her love of live TV and all its perils, along with averting a transmission near-disaster during the star-studded gala production marking LWT's move from Wembley to the South Bank. And that's all before she joined the London Weekend Sports Department, which is a whole new episode in itself. Now living in Dorset and a passionate bibliophile, Victoria owns and runs one of the finest independent second-hand bookshops in the land, “Black Pug Books”. https://www.instagram.com/explore/locations/249809868753850/black-pug-books/ https://www.facebook.com/blackpugbooks/?locale=en_GB Support the podcast by becoming a Patron: https://www.patreon.com/BEHINDTHESCENESWITHCOLINEDMONDS Colin Edmonds socials Facebook: colin.edmonds.73 Instagram: colinedmondsssm Twitter:@ColinEdmondsSSM Website: https://www.steamsmokeandmirrors.com/ Listen to all episodes of the podcast available on; Spotify Amazon Music Audible Apple Podcasts BOOKS Buy Steam, Smoke and Mirrors Available at Caffeine Nights Available at Amazon Available on Audible Buy The Lazarus Curiosity: Steam, Smoke and Mirrors 2 Available at Caffeine Nights Available at Amazon Available on Audible Buy The Nostradamus Curiosity: Steam, Smoke and Mirrors 3 Available at Caffeine Nights Available at Amazon

Solstrålarna glittrar i Themsens bruna vatten. Medverkande: Sofia Bergström, Maria Enzell och Gunnar LindbergProgrammet är gjort av Siri Hill i februari 2024Producent Joanna KorbutiakExekutiv producent Anna JohannessenSlutmix Fredrik NilssonProgramledare Siri HillLjudklippen i programmet kommer från dokumentärfilmen The Filth and the Fury (2000), mockumentären The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle (1980) och den dokumentära kortfilmen The Jubilee Boat Party (1977) av Julian Temple, dokumentärfilmerna Club Zebra - The Movie (2014) av Bengt Löfgren och D.O.A: A Rite of Passage (1980) av Lech Kowalski, London Weekend Television (1976), BBC Nationwide (1976), BBC 2 (1978), The Today Show/Thames Television (1976), Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2006) och Youtube-kontona mickwellings8801, Sex Pistols MV och marslife01.

0:27:30 - Polacy w Polsce - sympatyczni i gościnni 0:28:36 - Pytanie o rocznik Krystyny 0:29:10 - Najważniejsze wartości w życiu

Greg Dyke’s hugely successful career is defined by leading some of the UK’s biggest and most influential organisations, from the BBC, ITV, London Weekend Television, The FA and Brentford, the west London club he’s supported since childhood. Sport has been a theme throughout his professional and personal life. When he was managing director of LWT in the early 1990s, Dyke arranged to meet representatives of five major English clubs to discuss a deal to award them a greater slice of media rights fees. This meeting is often cited as a catalyst for creation of the Premier League. Famously, Dyke’s ITV was outbid by Rupert Murdoch’s Sky, and years later, when Dyke was a board director of Manchester United, his was the only vote against Murdoch’s proposed takeover of the club. He became Director General of the BBC in 2000, with a reform agenda, famously describing the organisation as ‘hideously white’. In 2013, Dyke replaced David Bernstein as chairman of The FA, leaving in 2016, choosing not to seek re-election. We’re grateful to Nic Coward for putting us in touch. The Classic Film: The Return of the Living Dead (1985) “When two bumbling employees at a medical supply warehouse accidentally release a deadly gas into the air, the vapors cause the dead to rise again as zombies” (IMDb.com). If you ever thought Chris and Kelsey were broken on the inside, their opinions on this cult classic that’s seemingly beloved by everyone probably won’t help. The Modern Film: Shaun of the Dead (2004) “A man's uneventful life is disrupted by the zombie apocalypse.” (IMDb.com). Do you ever think about what the Edgar Wright Ant-Man would have been like? Chris does. Kind of a lot. Get more at podsematary.com!
