Technology Minerals CEO Alex Stanbury talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about a milestone week for the company, highlighting significant progress in both its recycling operations and exploration asset portfolio. Stanbury discussed the first shipment of black mass from its Recyclus facility to Europe, under an agreement with Glencore. He explained that black mass—a hazardous material containing lithium, cobalt, and nickel—requires complex approvals for cross-border movement. “It's been a lot of work in the making to get this black mass moved off-site,” Stanbury said, noting this completes a critical part of the company's business model. He also commented on the importance of the Glencore partnership, stating that “for Glencore to have the faith to work with us…is really important.” This collaboration ensures a consistent offtake of all Recyclus production. Stanbury also confirmed Recyclus is working with Ocado, managing end-of-life batteries from their robotic systems. The company uses its proprietary LiBoxes to safely store and transport used lithium-ion batteries, providing safety and ESG compliance. “We've done thousands of batteries for them now and there's an ongoing maintenance programme,” he added. Finally, Technology Minerals has completed the sale of its Leinster lithium project in Ireland, aligning with its strategy of incubating early-stage assets and moving them up the value curve. The company is now focused on its Spanish project, which benefits from EU interest in critical materials and battery manufacturing. It expects further licenses to be granted soon and aims to seek JV partners to bring the project toward feasibility and production. Our guest on this week's episode is Andrei Quinn-Barabanov, Supply Chain Industry Practice Lead and Senior Director with Moody's. It was five years ago this month that our world was rocked with the Covid-19 virus. That is when businesses and schools closed and we were all stuck at home waiting for things to get better. All the while, supply chains kept us fed and happy at home, for the most part. Our supply chains had to adjust and they are still feeling the effects of the pandemic five years later. Our guest reflects on how supply chains reacted then and how they now will never be the same. Most of our editorial staff was at ProMat 2025 this past week in Chicago – a huge supply chain show and the largest material handling exhibition in North America.  And everywhere we looked, there were robotics and automation systems to be seen. Most distribution facilities and factories will eventually end up with a number of different types of automation and robotics within their facilities. So, the big challenge is to integrate all of these disparate systems to play nice with one another. We look at a couple of "orchestration" solutions on display at ProMat.All of the automation solutions exhibited at ProMat take power. In this episode, we look at some innovative energy solutions that keep those automation systems operating at peak performance. We also discuss an energy management solution that can potentially lower the utility bills of facilities.Supply Chain Xchange  also offers a podcast series called Supply Chain in the Fast Lane.  It is co-produced with the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals. Send us a textJoining me on today's episode of The English Wine Diaries is Laura Riches, co-founder of wine brand Laylo. Laura was previously the marketing director at Naked Wines, the UK's largest direct-to-consumer wine brand and, during her tenure, was responsible for record-breaking years of customer retention through a focus on customer engagement and storytelling. In November 2020, Laura joined forces with Laura Rosenberger to create Laylo with the aim of reinventing boxed wine and making environmentally conscious drinking a no-brainer. The design of glass wine bottles has barely changed in 200 years. But the amount of bottles and how we ship them around the world really has – to a point that has become unsustainable. Believing that boxed wine was the smartest alternative but aware of the preconceptions about its quality, Laura and Laura set about focusing on premium quality and beautiful design. Since its inception, Laylo has built a cult following – it has featured on mainstream TV and in national newspapers and magazines, has won awards and is now stocked by Ocado and Whole Foods as well as being served in restaurants and bars nationwide.Laylo has also recently branched out into canned wine, and last year released its first English boxed wine. We talk about being a female maverick in a male dominated world, Laura's most 'out there' marketing stunts and the next new launch on the cards for Laylo. Find out more about Laylo by visiting: drinklaylo.com and you can follow Laura and the rest of the team on Instagram @drinklaylo. With thanks to our series sponsor, Wickhams, The Great British Wine Merchant. Join Kat as she explores the world of beans with Amelia Christie Miller, founder of Bold Beans, in this episode about revolutionising our relationship with food. From a hungover morning in Madrid to creating a movement that is changing how we think about beans, Amelia shares her journey of building a premium brand that's taking the UK by storm. Learn how this simple food could be the answer to better mental health, sustainability and why some of the biggest names in food retail are taking notice. This episode will challenge your preconceptions about beans and might just change how you think about your next meal! KEY TAKEAWAYS Amelia's ‘bean awakening’ came during her time in Spain, where a jar of quality butter beans transformed her perception and sparked a mission to change how the UK thinks about beans Through her work in food sustainability, she discovered beans were not just delicious but could help solve major environmental challenges like soil erosion and food security Her experience watching top chefs choose beans over fake meats showed her there was a gap in the market for premium, quality beans that could revolutionise plant based cooking As a founder, she learned that maintaining positivity in the face of larger competitors copying her product was crucial, focusing on building community rather than dwelling on setbacks Her approach to marketing has been built on the surprising power of customer obsession because people becoming genuinely excited about beans has created organic growth through word of mouth She's observed that the biggest barrier to bean consumption isn't the beans themselves but people not knowing what to do with them, leading to her focus on accessible, delicious recipes In running Bold Beans, she's discovered firsthand how having beans readily available has improved her focus, productivity and eating habits Despite being a premium brand, she believes making beans "cool" can have a trickle down effect that benefits everyone, similar to how avocados became mainstream BEST MOMENTS "I was horrified about the idea that we were eroding all of our topsoil and in the future we wouldn't have any healthy soil to farm from. So all roads just led to beans." "I think the biggest problem in our food culture is this obsession with convenient foods rather than, unlike the Mediterranean countries where food and eating and cooking is so innately part of their everyday life." "One of our values is 'full of beans,' which is about positive energy and feeling positive... The irony is if you are full of beans, you are full of beans." "I think it's one of those things where people sort of find it entertaining, people becoming obsessed, and it's actually become an amazing marketing approach for us." "We have lost touch with that connection with where food comes from and what we're actually putting in our bodies." ABOUT THE GUEST What started with a hungover epiphany eating Queen Butter Beans straight from a jar has grown into Amelia's mission to make the world bean obsessed. Bold Bean Co is now stocked in Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury's and Ocado, selling award-winning jarred beans and gourmet baked beans to those looking for healthy, natural and crucially, uncompromisingly delicious food.Through her content, Amelia shares candid insights on startup life, navigating leadership while embracing femininity, building purpose-driven brands, and why beans are both our past AND our future. Bold Bean Co Website Instagram LinkedIn ABOUT THE HOST Kat started her career as a teacher, before moving into Tech where she worked in different executive roles within teaching and consulting working across the globe, both in the public and private sector. Despite appearing 'successful' on the outside, she paid a heavy ‘life’ price. In 2016, her whole world collapsed. The reason? The compound effect of years of unhealthy and toxic habits that destroyed her health, relationship and career. She suffered a severe breakdown and lost everything. In the middle of this she got headhunted for her first CEO role. She rebuilt herself by changing just one small habit, and built a series of positive habits which has transformed her professional and personal performance, resulting in becoming the healthiest and happiest version of herself. She is a positive habits international keynote speaker and teacher, giving talks and delivering high impact programmes to organisations across the globe. LinkedIn Instagram

This was my ‘lightbulb moment'. I knew something had to change about the way we handled menstruation.” - Ruby Raut, Founder & CEO Ruby grew up in Nepal, where shame about periods was widespread. Nachune is the Nepalese word for period which basically translates as 'untouchable'. When she started her period, she experienced a form of Chapaudi, now illegal in Nepal. During menstruation, she was sent to her aunt's house and wasn't allowed to go out in the sun, look at men, or touch plants - as it was believed that she would kill them - just because she was having a period. Like other girls, she was given old sari rags to use for the bleeding, which happened to be reusable and eco-friendly, but not hygienic. They weren't leak-proof nor comfortable, and didn't work for her when she played sports! When she arrived in the UK, she was astonished by the wide range of menstrual products available on the shelves, but quickly realised that most of them were neither comfortable nor leak-proof, and they certainly were not eco-friendly. So it became Ruby mission to replace plastic-riddled disposable pads & tampons with the world's most comfortable and sustainable period underwear. Say hello to Ben Vear. He's the co-founder of Living Things, the low sugar, all natural, prebiotic soda taking London by storm, exporting to five countries and selling a can every minute with more bubbles on the horizon.   Backed by Brewdog co-founder James Watt, the gut loving brand raised a large family and friends pre-seed round, and is now looking to raise further funds to grow the team and expand the business internationally. Stocked in over 700 tastemakers stockists from Delli Ap to Amazon, Wholefoods and Ocado, they are arguably the UK's answer to Poppi and Olipop, who are now valued over $1bn selling more cans than coca-cola in the US.  And while Ben has food and drink in his blood, coming from a lineage of ice cream makers, he cut his teeth Mars, Bear, Wildfarmed and Minor Figures. With his co-founder Jon, he's now scripting his own playbook, riding the wave of gut health while Gen-Z cut down their ABV in favour of next generation sodas.  In this episode we talk about his learnings from Minor Figures, the highs and lows so far, and his plans for the future of Living Things. Grab a can, take a sip, tune in and enjoy.

Introducing Tess. She's the founder of All Dressed Up, the flavour-first salad dressings company on a mission to elevate everyday meals (not just salad leaves) using trending ingredients people know and love without any of the artificial ingredients that supermarket brands use.  After cutting her teeth in the fast-paced FMCG world with names like Coconut Collaborative and Perkbox, Tess took a bold step into the kitchen to hone her culinary chops, training as a professional chef at the renowned Leiths School of Food & Wine. Following stints perfecting her craft, she received some unexpected feedback: her boyfriend said her dressings were so good she should sell them…which is exactly what she did.  Since then, Tess's delicious dressings have made their way onto the shelves of places like Whole Foods, Eat17, and Delli App, as well as independent delis and farm shops across the country—and with a major Ocado deal on the horizon, things are only looking up! In this episode, we'll dive into her flavorful journey, from juggling two jobs to her top tips for making it all work. Enjoy.

If you have a product based business, this week's episode might just be something you have dreamt about—getting your products into major retailers like Selfridges & Co., John Lewis, or Ocado. I've been there myself, and I know how it can feel like a big, distant goal. But today, I'm chatting with Nic Waller, a leading brand buyer who has worked with some of the biggest names in British retail and has helped countless brands, including mine. Nic has worked with brands across the board at Selfridges, John Lewis, M&S, Waitrose and Ocado. She's got a down-to-earth approach, and her advice is practical and easy to apply, no matter what stage your business is at. So, if you've ever wondered how to get your brand noticed by a big retailer, this episode is for you! What We Cover in This Episode: What Retailers Really Look For in Small Brands: It's not about how big your brand is or how many followers you have. Nic shares the key things that actually grab a buyer's attention—things like your story, your product's uniqueness, and how well you align with the retailer's values. How to Approach Retailers Without Feeling Intimidated: I know reaching out to a big retailer can feel scary, but Nic walks us through how to approach them with confidence. From getting your pitch and emails right to knowing when to reach out, she shares the steps to make it easier and less overwhelming. The Importance of Persistence: Landing a deal doesn't happen overnight, and Nic talks about why following up is so important. She also gives tips on how to stay in touch with buyers in a way that feels natural and not pushy. Why Your Size Doesn't Matter as Much as You Think: This is one of my favourite takeaways. Nic reassures us that you don't have to be a big name to get noticed by top retailers. If your product is great and you're clear about what makes you different, you've got a solid chance! Key Takeaways: Buyers are looking for authenticity, innovation, and a good fit with their customer base. Confidence in your pitch and preparation will go a long way when approaching retailers. Persistence is key—keep those relationships alive with consistent follow-ups. You don't need to be a massive brand to land a deal; it's about what you bring to the table. The new Amy Winehouse biopic is finally out, but Back to Black has bitterly divided critics and fans. Some are disgusted by the ‘sanitisation' of key figures such as her dad Mitch Winehouse and former husband Blake Fielder-Civil, while others are delighted to see a film that doesn't revel in the sordid details of her drug addiction. We get into the thorny debate around the Sam Taylor-Johnson directed ‘love story', starring Marisa Abela and Jack O'Connell, as well as the wild recent reporting on how Mitch is currently suing two of Amy's best friends for auctioning off items she gave them. First, though, we give our verdicts on Netflix's Scoop, the thrilling dramatisation of Prince Andrew's car-crash Newsnight interview from 2019, told from the perspective of BBC celebrity booker Sam McAllister, played by an excellent Billie Piper. How accurate is the show when spotlighting the inner workings of celebrity booking?  DM us your thoughts on Instagram @straightuppod, and let us know what you'd like us to cover next week! There's yet another headline-grabbing ‘feminist' debate raging on the internet, angels, so we give you the lowdown on The Cut's viral piece The Case for Marrying an Older Man, from the intellectualization of gold digging (lol) to the persistent cultural misinterpretations of Lolita. Next, we debrief on the exposé on Andrew Huberman, the world's biggest pop scientist and host of the third biggest podcast globally. How did the self-styled Mr Perfect manipulate six different women into believing they were his only partner? And should his questionable personal choices have bearing on his work? Very fittingly, we also cover the allegations detailed in Rebel Wilson's book against Sacha Baron Cohen, including a look back at his highly questionable output, and he and Isla Fisher's announcement last week that they are going through divorce. Finally, we recommend Lily Allen's new podcast Miss Me, and chat all things Cowboy Carter and virginity.  Please do leave a review on Apple, and send us love, feedback and gossip on Instagram @straightuppod, our DMS are always open and we love chatting with you! In light of Kate Middleton's recent announcement (and the prior ‘where's Kate' internet circus), this week we debate the fraught but symbiotic relationship between media and monarchy, from what ‘right' we as the public have to access to the royal family, to previous privacy breaches like tampongate, Kate's topless holiday pics and the hounding of Harry and Meghan. Next up is Ellie's favourite new podcast discovery, Sounds Like A Cult, about the modern day cults we all follow. A tale of Lululemon leggings and murder ensues, followed very fittingly by Kathleen's review of Netflix's new true crime drama The Program: Cons, Cults and Kidnapping. A shocking look at ‘disciplinary schools', we found this especially fascinating considering our recent dive into Paris Hilton's mission to have the industry shut down.  Enjoy huns and please do rate review and subscribe as well as shooting us a DM on Insta @straightuppod Thanks so much to our partners: Innermost Nutrition, our favourite new plant protein that's actually really good for you, full of immune-boosting ingredients, a whopping 31g of plant protein and no nasty additives.
