Today Ryan talks with Jeff Sieh, host of Social Media News Live. Jeff has been in the content creation game for many years now and, on the show, we discuss how to use your current relationships to co-create content and potentially score some free gear in the process. Jeff shares some great advice on marketing your business on social media platforms and why you don't need to be on every platform to make an impact. Jeff also shares his thoughts on what's currently going on in the podcasting world and answers that question every podcaster is asking, should I record both audio and video when I create a podcast? KEY TAKEAWAYS Don't wait until you have a huge following to start; start now! Look for opportunities to use what you already have in your hands or at your disposal. Recording both audio and video with your podcast allow you to repurpose our content. Don't compare your business with other companies who are doing everything on every platform. Jeff Sieh from Social Media Examiner and Manly Pinterest Tips will give you tips and trick in how to overcome those annoying creative roadblocks. Everyone's creative process is different, and what works for one person may not work for another. G E T L I V E A L E R T S: thebusinessofvideopodcast.com S H O W S P O N S O R: BizTubeAcademy.com WHAT IS A CREATIVE ROADBLOCK? When you sit there staring at a blank screen and you know you have to create content but you just do not know what to create, you may have a creative roadblock. Sometimes a creative roadblock comes about when you are just burnt out, but you have to break through because your content needs to go out. It is not a good thing to rely on guests because you could lose them during the interview and then you will be stuck with having to fill the time. WHAT IS A GOOD PROCESS TO WORK THROUGH A CREATIVE ROADBLOCK? TAKE A BREAK! Get up from your computer, take a walk, take a nap, maybe just create something for another project, business or personal. Just play around with your application you use to create your content to give you ideas during your creative roadblock. A professional HAS TO work through those roadblocks! When you go for a walk, go to clear your mind instead of going to look for inspiration, it will be easier to find. You have to be proactive with your creativity. Be creative in other areas away from your computer screen. Keep a record of ideas as you come up with them so you do not lose them for later. When you have a creative roadblock go a do something different, but try to make it something not on a computer and not dealing with social media. Having a style guide will make it easier to make future content to keep them looking like you. This can help with fewer choices and you could hand it off to an assistant to create your content. If you find yourself at a creative roadblock, do some research on other businesses in your field and see what they are up to. We are not talking about stealing but study what they are doing and how could something like that work for your business. It is a good thing to survey your audience for ideas. They will not stick around if you are not giving them what they need. Instead of using the same free stock photos that EVERYONE is using, try and stand out and find something different. Be more concerned with interacting with your audience than trying to go live everywhere.

The power of video is undeniable and Google Hangouts On Air are free, easy to use, and don't require a polished presentation or any special equipment. But, how can people get over their fears and become a go-to resource for helpful information? Jeff will help us with that! People tend to be afraid of video – even more than with audio, we seem uncomfortable watching ourselves. Jeff suggests you try it anyway! You may find you get used to it – or that the results are so amazing you can't stop even if you want to. Right click here to download the mp3 file to your desktop Hangouts On Air The Best Value For Your Marketing Time? You can turn your Hangouts on Air in to blog posts, short video, podcasts, and more. There is just nothing else that gives you such ability to repurpose. Some Practical Ideas for Your First Hangout Don't start huge. Have a hangout with a few friends who make you feel comfortable. Get used to the technical snafus and audio glitches that WILL happen. Get comfortable with all your options. Just hang out a bit! When you're ready, consider just answering a commonly-asked question by your customers and prospects. Nothing fancy needed. We even had ideas about funeral homes and pest control companies in the episode! Get Your Audience Involved As you get more comfortable with hangouts, you can add in features like comment tracker, which allows you to monitor comments and pull up people's questions and their images so all attendees can see. People LOVE that kind of engagement. It really makes them feel like part of the show and Jeff does it so well. The Superheroes of Marketing Podcast | Content Marketing | Lead Generation | Social Media Marketing
We are sworn to protect the excellence of your marketing, but what does that mean? What can you expect from our podcast? Just a few months ago, Kelly and I decided we should produce a podcast together. We share a love of marketing and enjoy working together on OverGo Studio clients, so it sounded like fun. And it has been! From choosing our theme to buying costumes (!!!!) and having a great photoshoot on the beach, it has been a blast. It's also been a lot more work than we anticipated. We are so grateful for the help of Rick at OverGo Studio, Jeff Sieh of Manly Pinterest Tips, Vincent Ng of MCNG Marketing, and especially for Carol Lynn and Ralph (Chief Executive Superheroes of Marketing Baby Daddy) Rivera of Web Search Social. Right click here to download the mp3 file to your desktop It is our goal to create a podcast that always sounds great in audio quality and composition. We want the small business owner to listen and have at least one "Aha!" moment per show. We vow never to be boring and never to forget who the real superheroes are.
