The list of coronavirus hypocrites is growing as more and more politicians from all parties admit to travelling while telling the people they represent to stay at home. True North's Andrew Lawton says the answer to this is not to throw the book at the politicians, but to start ripping pages out of the book, since clearly these supposed restrictions aren't necessary. Also, cannabis activist Marc Emery joins the show to talk about his campaign to seek a People's Party of Canada nomination for the upcoming election, and why fighting against what he calls the “COVID dictatorship” is among his top priorities. One of these things is not like the other! Trying to interview a man like Marc Emery has been one of the most frustrating experiences in my podcast life! Trying to make sense of a man that so many people loathe, puts you into the crosshairs of public opinion, no matter the type of spin that you try to bake into it. Is Marc Emery all about the counter-culture movement, is he just a shit disturber, or is he just crazy? I recorded a 20 minute conversation with Marc, but decided that an editorial on the experience would be of more value to you than publishing the actual words he said. I hope you find this perspective interesting & I hope that you find it in you to be kind to one another.
Marc Emery is likely Canada's most well-known advocate for marijuana. The 'Prince of Pot' has both smoked illegally and been arrested in every major city across the country. His ambition to create a culture around cannabis, including media, politics, and literature unfolded like that of a mastermind CEO on Bay Street. Emery started his career a bookstore owner in London, Ontario, but eventually moved to Vancouver where he fully invested into the marijuana industry. Following a five-year prison sentence in 2015, Emery has since lived in...Read the whole entry...>>
