To say I adore fellow comic Mary Santora would be THE UNDERSTATEMENT OF THE YEAR. She's been through Hell and back but like a TRUE COMIC, She writes jokes & talks about her experiences ONSTAGE, Which is no easy feat. Watching her talk about the death of her beloved father & somehow finding the funny in the darkest of moments made me say, "This is a true COMIC". Luck would have it we ran into each other & all I can say is "Thank You Luck!". She's Funny, She's Sober & most importantly She's my friend. Enjoy, Mary Santora.

Conversations with Comics with NO COFFEE this morning will feature the BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING Mary SANTORA. I was introduced to Mary about two/three years ago through a mutual friend Morgan Malone, and I fell in love with this young woman. You know the kinda love that is an admiration of someone who is following her dream and facing obstacles and jumping over some, skirting others, and punishing something directly between the eyes. During that time this young comedian had paved the way for so many of us whether we choose comedy as our passionate path or just making it through the day. Her funny bone for some may sound sad as she uses her life experiences to get us to laugh – but she is so relatable – even with our vast age difference, I am either old enough to be her mother or maybe even grandmother. However, age is a badge of honor that I wear because of someone like Mary Santora, she makes me feel good and I can only hope in some way I do the same for her. Later today you will be able to listen to this podcast at newclevelandradio.net on Youtube – Conversations with Comics with NO COFFEE and guest Mary Santora 12_4_20.Mary is also part of the Alan Cox Show heard here in Cleveland on WMMS as well as streamed…

"Fine, I'll go out for just one..." Before you know it, the sun is coming up and a buddy shoves a mirror in your face complete with a fat line of coke with your name on it. Or you've gone through three cases this week, and it's not even Friday. Alcohol is a helluva drug, and millions of people suffer from addiction, so to say alcoholism is funny feels like the slap in the face you got at the bar from the girl you were trying to take home while you were blacked out. But it is, and Mary Santora is proof of that. Sometimes, you've got to be able to laugh about the thing that's destroying your life, and sharing that laugh may be able to help someone else. Mary joins us in this episode to prove that you can laugh at being an alcoholic. We also talk about: -How Mary got her start in comedy. -The addictiveness of performing stand-up. -When Mary came to terms with her alcoholism. -David's tool for avoiding drinking too much: his evil, drunk alter ego, City Dave. -Mary's bit on her sober quarantine experience. -How she relates her sobriety from the stage to a room full of people drinking. -The parallels of alcohol dependency and the dependency of being a kid. -Those fateful last words, "I'll just have one..." -Having an addictive personality. -How David replaced cocaine with comedy. -Mary's sage advice for less experienced comedians. -Being drunk onstage. -Writing drunk. -Alcohol being the REAL gateway drug. -The intervention that never was. -Mitch Hedberg's joke about alcoholism. -The classification of alcoholism as a disease and our misunderstanding of many mental disorders. -Mary's surprising comedic influences. -Comedians who've gotten sober and seen their success skyrocket. -The importance of starting from a place of honesty, both when performing comedy AND getting sober. -And more! This episode of Happy Hour with Steve Guy actually features two entertaining guests. First is Mary Santora, a comedian out of Cleveland, OH and radio personality from 100.7WMMS Alan Cox Show during the afternoons. Conversation includes how she got onto the radio show, what it means for her rising standup career, and fun stories about her life as a comic including the time she fell off of Brian Regan's tour bus, and more fun to get to know the person behind the person behind the mic. Jeremy Alder is a standup comedian originally from Texas, but resides in North Carolina. He has been making news during the pandemic, not for his comedy, but he has actually been giving away money on social media to complete strangers in order to help them through these tough times. He explains how he's able to do this, what his kids think, and if anyone were to book him as payback would he take it? Please rate, subscribe and review! If you want to watch a condensed version of these interviews and other comedic bits that went along with, seek out Happy Hour with Steve Guy on YouTube (Episode 3) and the episode also includes a standup clip from Jeremy Alder. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/happyhoursteveguy/support

The kween of Cleveland comedy crushes our Season 2 Finale: Mary Santora. We laugh, we cry, we eat pizza & discuss the benefits of Mary's default setting: being an optimist. Also on deck: kids, lesbians, moms, kids of lesbian moms…or maybe just the first 3. Idk. We recorded this like 8 months ago. Conversation with Mary Santora
Comedian Mary Santora joins us to talk about what happens when you drink too much at a Backstreet Boys concert. We've all had nights we regret drinking too much but it's not always at a Backstreet Boys reunion concert. It's fun to have a few while reminiscing about the past watching a band from your youth in your hometown but Mary had a little too much fun. Find out how she ended up getting backstage and getting thrown out on this edition of One Crazy Story with Nate Armbruster. This show was recorded live at the main stage at The Improv Shop in St Louis, Missouri as part of the first annual Flyover Comedy Festival. We had amazing stories from Katherine Jessup, Mary Santora, Emily Galati, Henry Phillips, and Rob T. We had the 4 main hosts rotating on the couch. All of these stories are so good and all of them are so different. It's a really great episode.
A special recording from the Accidental Comedy Festival in Cleveland! This was our first time taping the show live in front of an audience and it was really fun! We chatted about love with two awesome couples- Ian Aber & Payne Broome and Mary Santora & Chad Andrew.
