Wanderlust founding editor Lyn Hughes recalls this reaction from a magazine retailer when she pitched her idea in 1993. But she and her partner, Paul Morrison, decided to forge ahead anyways with their idea for a down-to-earth, exploration-focused travel magazine - and they never looked back. Over the past 30 years, Wanderlust has become the most trusted name in travel when it comes to exploring the world in a way that is culturally conscious, hungry for adventure, and always seeking to explore the road less travelled. Wanderlust has taken its readers to the most remote edges of the planet, as well as to little-known corners tucked within some of its biggest and brightest cities. And one thing is for sure - they're just getting started. In today's episode, listen as both Lyn and Wanderlust CEO George Kipouros share with host Aaron Millar their many stories from the magazine's founding - as well as where it's heading next. As a couple, Anne and David Morrison, 71, did everything together, living life their way, never letting obstacles stand in the way.But their plans to retire to Australia were never realised after David was hospitalised with Covid 19 in early 2020. Worried sick about her husband, Anne, who had received the all-clear from cancer a year earlier, died at home from sudden death on April 7. On hearing he'd lost his lifelong partner, David died from a Covid-induced heart attack 10 hours later. In this episode, their only son Paul Morrison bravely tells how he struggled to fill the void left behind by his parents, battling feelings of guilt, anxiety, and reliving torturous moments from the past. In an inspiring story of redemption, Paul describes how he brought himself back from the brink, recovering from a year-long illness, quitting alcohol, and embracing exercise in order to: “find the new version of me…I am doing it for my parents…and I will get there.”Credit Snow Patrol, Chasing Cars. This episode is with Paul Morrison, the civil servant who ran the “Homes for Ukraine” refugee housing programme. As you would expect, it is a fascinating story of collaboration and trust between central government, local government, the third sector and communities. Before this Paul had also led the Syrian refugee rehousing programme and he describes how he was able to bring to bear the lessons learned and the network he built up during that crisis to deal with the more extreme (in terms of speed and numbers) Ukrainian crisis. Paul is multi-talented to say the least, so there are multiple dimensions to this conversation. He is now the Chief Executive of The Planning Inspectorate and part of our discussion is about helping listeners understand the context of the often very political public discourse on the number of houses we are building in the UK. Finally, Paul is also a driving force of a group of radically minded public servants who gather to discuss public service reform and particularly how to break down barriers between departments and service areas and also between the public, private and third sector. It's a fascinating group and I have been lucky enough to participate in some of the sessions.

The Hackett Group Principal David Ketchin talks with Principal Paul Morrison and Senior Director Hermann Waschefort about critical success factors for how companies can drive real benefits and improved performance through their digital transformation efforts.Show Notes:Welcome to the Hackett Group's Business Excelleration Podcast, where – week after week – we hear from experts on how to avoid obstacles, manage detours, and celebrate milestones on the journey to world-class performance. This episode of the podcast is hosted by The Hackett Group's Managing Director of Europe David Ketchin. His guests today are Paul Morrison, Principal and Lead for Hackett's Digital Enablement Practice in Europe and Hermann Waschefort, Hackett's U.K. Lead for Business Transformation team and Global Business Services.Between the two of them, Paul and Hermann spend their time implementing end to end transformation programs with Hackett's clients. Today they'll discuss digital transformation and give tales from the front lines. To begin, Hermann defines digital transformation as the process of change in which new technology is combined with people and processes to create value. Its key components are change, combination and value. Then, Paul elaborates on the broader themes to be addressed in tackling digital transformation. One overarching theme is what organizations can do to achieve maximum digital impact. He shares a few examples of clients Hackett advised on this front, including one targeting democratization of technology. As a related trend about maximizing impact, we're seeing growth of product-centric development and the use of a limited number of platforms. A final challenge is clarifying how IT and other functions are working together amidst tension. It is clear that technology is not the only driver of digital transformation, but it is a key driver. Hermann touches on the two key components of a successful strategy. It begins with being very clear on your business objectives and what you're trying to achieve. You must remain agile and evolve as priorities evolve. Then, have an understanding of the broader capabilities which can move you forward. Each year, Hackett runs their Digital Awards every year, which gives them a fantastic insight into what organizations are achieving. Listen as Paul highlights two companies who are really succeeding in this field. First, Mondelēz, winner of the Order-to-Cash category, has been on a multi-year journey towards world class performance in receivables. They raised the bar further this year by using machine learning to predict customer payments. Reckitt was the winner of the IT Opportunity-To-Deployment with their next gen living labs program. Their goal was to drive automation at scale through IT operations and bring to life user experience. Employees have improved their satisfaction by over 20%.As the episode draws to a close, Paul and Hermann each share absolute critical success factors for organizations, namely those hoping to secure rapid benefits. First, Hermann stresses the importance of determining whether an organization is clear on the value of what they're trying to unlock. A second question is what they hope to do with customer experience, which is key in unlocking growth. Lastly, what can they do to really leapfrog the competition? From Paul's perspective, it's key that digital should not seem that it is done to you by IT. Rather, digital change is something in which you are an active participant and decision maker. You must be able to ask yourself whether your function is set up for success in ongoing digital change.

The show where two guys with no credentials drink craft beer, while recapping sports information you could find on the Internet. On this episode we had our friend Paul Morrison back on, and in all honesty look for that move to be permanent move! On this episode we discussed Lamar Jackson and the MVP race (or lack thereof) and can he continue this play not only for the rest of this season, but in future seasons. Honestly that was a fun topic. We discussed the state of the Denver Broncos and Vikings, along with the NFC and AFC Playoff outlook going into Week 16. Finished off with game predictions this week, please do not forget about the "2 minute drill" at the end a lot of hot takes. Tonight's Episode received the first 5/5 Beer Rating. We enjoyed two gems from Weldwerks Brewing out of Greeley Colorado - Juicy Bits and Galaxy DDH Juicy Bits! Highly Recommend!!
Paul Morrison is back in Ohio and he's got a doe tag to fill before he hops on a plane headed west. He's got plenty of action with a rutty buck chasing does around his stand, but can he get a trophy doe in the right place for the shot? We're also catching up with Josh Sturgill as he hits the road to West Virginia to chase mountain bucks in the snow. He's got a shooter buck bedded 60 yards away, but can he pull it off when the buck finally makes a move? See it all happen in this latest episode of Bowhunt or Die.
