Fairy smut, spicy reads and sexy books... whatever you want to call it, what was once looked down upon as silly women's literature has grown into a multi billion dollar business. The rise of genres like Romantasy is seeing legions of women delve into reading like never before, with books once hidden on the back of the shelf book now being turned into huge movies and television shows (looking at you Rivals, 50 Shades Of Grey et al.) Today we take a look back at romance and erotica for women and why it's now out of the shadows, and yes, this one's not for little ears. Joely Live has been in the spotlight since she was five years old. From modeling shoots with Gisele Bundchen, to being a sports illustrated kid reporter, Joely has lived her entire life in the public eye. She joined the show this week to discuss the highs and lows of being in the industry, which has included stops working for Young Hollywood, major events such as the Kids choice awards, and most recently starting her own venture with Pucker Up and building that into an exciting new concept. We also reflect on what Joely describes as a "life changing" moment, which came in 2022 when she got the opportunity to walk in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit runway show in Miami. Joely shares key insights into what has allowed her to achieve this level of success at such a young age, as well as some things that were particularly challenging to overcome along the way. We couldn't let Joely leave without giving her a taste of her own medicine though, as we made her spill some tea that you'll want to make sure you stick around to hear! Make sure you subscribe to the channel so you don't miss this exceptional conversation!
Potter Revisited Episode #57 Pucker Up For Your Lobotomy AKA Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Chapter 20 "The Dementor's Kiss" The first thing Sirius does when getting out of the Shrieking Shack is asking Harry to live with him... and Harry is all for it despite only knowing him for a few hours and thinking he was a murderer for most of them How would Harry living with Sirius affect the series? Everyone forgets Lupin hasn't taken his potion The passage where Lupin is transforming into a werewolf is written in a cool way - showing how he loses his personality and humanity once he is the wolf Sirius tells Harry and Hermione to run but Ron is still chained to Pettigrew and Lupin Classic Hermione instinct is to go to the castle for help, but Harry runs after Sirius and a werewolf instead Harry's happy thought is living with Sirius and leaving the Dursley's - sad to think this never happens Does it make sense for Hermione not to have at least learned the patronus charm a little? The description of the Dementor's trying to suck Harry and Sirius' soul is very creepy Does the Dementor's trying to take Harry's soul show they are already outside of Ministry control? Are the dementor's drawn to Harry because of the misery of his past or because he has an extra soul? Shay brings up the issue she has with it being called the "Dementor's Kiss" what are some better alternatives? Just before Harry passes out - he thinks he sees his father. Tori discusses the old "James Survived" fan theory Shay dusts off her Psychology BA again to discuss the trauma Harry has with seeing Sirius having almost have his soul sucked out What would of happened if Sirius was cleared in PoA and how would it affect the series? This week: Most people seem wired to resist change, and yet from ancient times, people have grappled with the irony that “change is the only constant in life.” Why is that? When God doesn't change our circumstances in the way we might want, how can Jesus' example help us see our lemons as an opportunity to embrace the new thing God's trying to do or show us? Series overview:Any of us who have walked through a difficult season know that “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade” is easier said than done! As Jesus followers, how can we maintain a positive outlook when things aren't going our way? Can trials or setbacks actually reinvigorate our faith? Join us for a refreshing reminder that life's unexpected circumstances might just be a way God leads us to discover fresh blessings, new opportunities, and even better outcomes than we had hoped.

As I'm recording this, I have my holiday candle burning, my kids hopped up on Christmas cookie sugar, and I'm struggling to find a way to hide Christmas presents from my husband before being able to wrap them. If you're listening to this way later, and you haven't already looked at the title of this episode, get ready for a throwback to what kids and retailers call The Most Wonderful Time of the Year. When I first started this podcast back in 2016, I did an episode like this and I liked it a lot, and it's a nice way to cap off the year, since I'll be taking a winter break with the show until the new year. You're listening to The Story Behind: The Extraordinary History of the Ordinary. I'm your host, Emily Prokop, and this is The Story Behind Christmas Traditions: Part 2. Find out more about The Story Behind Book! Are you a member of The Podcast Brunch Club? I'm coordinating with them for a book giveaway with them, as well!
