This sermon explores the gradual erosion of faith and biblical values in society, drawing parallels between ancient Israel’s spiritual decline and the current state of Christianity in America. Jobin emphasizes the importance of maintaining a strong spiritual vision, teaching children about God, and actively living out one’s faith to prevent the dilution of Christian values […] The post Where There is No Vision appeared first on Echo Lake Church.

Palmusunnuntaina pidetyt vaalit toivat perussuomalaisille aimo annoksen Jobin postia. Puolueen kannatus romahti alue- ja kuntavaaleissa. Puolueen puheenjohtajan Riikka Purran mukaan perussuomalaiset saivat kärsiä, koska oppositio kosiskeli kansaa ja muut pesivät kätensä leikkauksista. Olivatko Purran puheet vilunkipelistä spontaani vai harkittu trumpismi, vai ei kumpaakaan? Minkälainen symbolinen merkitys Raamatun vertauksilla on politiikassa? Mukailivatko Purran vaalitappiopuheet Raamatusta tuttuja kärsimyskertomuksia? Kuinka usein eduskunnassa puhutaan kiirastulesta, viimeisestä ehtoollisesta, Juudaksesta, ristin kantamisesta, käsien pesemisestä? Mikä on päivänpolitiikan sana? Suomen kielen dosentti Vesa Heikkinen ja Politiikkaradion toimittaja Tapio Pajunen analysoivat politiikan kielen ajankohtaisuuksia ja valitsevat päivänpolitiikan sanan. In this week's podcast we meet Jacob Hill, MD of Offploy. Jacob tells us all about his start-up at the age of 19 that brought him business awards and £300,000 of angel investment but also talks about the mistakes made that brought it all crashing down.He then shares with us the story of his arrest and subsequent prison sentence that changed his life forever, and the positives that have subsequently come from it.He also explains how you can access a pool of top quality staff with exceptional levels of motivation & loyalty at a fraction of market salaries. This is a true ‘business rollercoaster' journey.INTRODUCING JACOB HILLAs the son of two police officers, Jacob was brought up ‘on the right side of tracks'. He was forever taught right from wrong, given every opportunity in life and encouraged to pursue his dreams. It wasn't until his first business, The Lazy Camper, went into financial ruin that he made a choice to sell drugs at a music festival. He was arrested and sentenced to 28 months in prison. He thought he wouldn't be a ‘typical' prisoner but when he was in there he met so many individuals from all walks of life who had made poor choices and ended up in the same place. It was the people inside prison who didn't think any employer would take them seriously despite their eagerness to find work that inspired him to start Offploy.Jacob believes that if an employer met someone and listened to their story they could probably relate to it and would find it easier to look beyond most convictions. Someone gave him a second chance on his release and he hopes to be able to do the same for others coming out of prison too. Jacob formed Offploy after his release from prison. He wrote the plan for the business from his prison cell and has since gone on to employ a team of 30 who have supported over 3,000 socially excluded people throughout the UK. As well as being Managing Director at Offploy, Jacob is also a member of the Board at Social Value UK.EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS[00:00:30] The start-up idea as a 19 year old [00:03:00] Funding the start-up idea and the execution of it[00:09:00] Why the business failed (and the lessons learnt)[00:13:00] The spiral into getting arrested[00:20:00] A 28 month prison sentence[00:35:00] The launch of Offploy and how it helps people[00:39:00] Hiring people with criminal convictions - advice & a guide - and how it helps youKEY TAKEAWAYS & BUSINESS LEARNINGSPeople have a thousand ideas a day but the execution and the charisma behind those ideas is worth so much moreAsking for help is so much better than trying to work it out yourselfIf you live a life of service, you'll be content for the rest of your lifeThink ABCD…..Any job, best job, career, dream jobIn a post-pandemic, post-Brexit world we cannot avoid (or ignore) hiring people with convictions When we hire someone with a conviction, after 6 months society saves almost £24,000Hiring those with criminal convictions is a great business case and a great social caseBEST MOMENTS“Business for me was my passion”“One of my investors eventually said I was all fur coat and no knickers… which was a little unfair”“We expected a million pounds of sales and got around £90,000 of sales”“I felt I was indestructible, I didn't ask for help, I didn't think I was doing anything wrong. On this episode, I speak with 3 fabulous queer wildlifers - all of whom you've heard from before during our second season from early 2022! The fields of wildlife conservation and biology are full of diversity, and I have some of those examples for you today. First up, we have Taniya Gill, who you first met in episode 16: The Thing About Personalities. Taniya is a doctoral candidate from the Department of Anthropology at the University of Delhi, and works closely with urban rhesus macaques of Delhi, where she studies their myriad personalities.Next, we have Ishaan Patil from episode 18: The Thing About Getting Started. Ishaan is a multi-talented, multi-faceted individual who has already forayed into several avenues of the conservation space: from environmental education and better understanding hornbills to social sciences and social justice at the James Hutton Institute. And then, from Season-2 Episode 19: The Thing About Landscape Avifauna, we were joined by Jobin Varughese. Landscape architect turned birder and ecologist, he is nearly Dr Jobin at the moment - having completed his doctoral work since we last spoke at IISER Thirupathi. Together, we spoke at length about our collective queer experiences and how they link into our careers! If you haven't heard the episodes I just mentioned yet, do give them a listen after this one! The work that Taniya, Ishaan and Jobin do is truly fantastic, interdisciplinary and inspiring! If you are a queer-identifying individual in the field of ecology/conservation, do consider joining the Indian Queer Wildlifers Circle! To be a part of this group - one that respects your anonymity and keeps your identity confidential - please write in to me at thethingaboutwildlife.com or DM me on any of our socials! We are currently a group that is over 80 members strong, and we're still growing. Remember, you're not alone - we're all in this together.

This episode of The Jim Stroud Podcast is brought to you by SourceOwls - https://bit.ly/SourceOwls / Recruiting will experience significant changes with the rise of AI, leading to concerns about job loss. The World Economic Forum predicts millions of jobs will be lost, and even IBM anticipates thousands of AI-driven replacements. Despite this, recruiting's reliance on human relationships makes complete automation unlikely. However, AI-powered tools may impact aspects like sourcing. Fears surrounding AI will drive the implementation of regulations. States are already enacting laws, such as Illinois' AI Video Interview Act, requiring disclosure and consent for AI analytics in interviews. Maryland prohibits facial recognition technology without applicant consent, while New York City mandates screening and auditing of AI employment tools to prevent discrimination. The recruiting landscape is evolving with tools like Olivia, Jobin, ChatGPT, and Zapier boosting productivity. Yet, concerns arise about employers demanding higher workloads and the preference for tool proficiency over emotional intelligence and relationship management skills. Solo recruiters with tech expertise and high EQ may challenge established RPOs. The future remains uncertain, questioning the ideal recruiter workload and sparking ongoing debates.

In this episode, Jason Camlot - SpokenWeb Director and Professor of English at Concordia University - takes us on a reflective listening tour through recordings of the Words and Music Show as it has evolved through the pandemic since early 2020.
