How do I plow through 100 books yearly? Here's a sneak peak: start with your shelf, hit the library, track your progress on Goodreads, and always have a new book queued up. Why do I read so much? Well, reading makes you more likely to be a millionaire. That's a cool benefit. According to socio-economist Randall Bell, “Those who read seven or more books per year are 122 percent more likely to be millionaires as opposed to those who never read.” I like those odds. Show Notes  Today we are privileged to have once again on our show a very recent guest, Dr Randall Bell. In our previous podcast, we talked about his latest book, Post-Traumatic Thriving—which has turned out to be one of our most popular episodes on the Next Chapter with Charlie.  In this episode we go another direction as we discuss an earlier book titled, Me, We, Do. Be: The Four Cornerstones of Success.  Although in The Cornerstones of Success explores four key traits that successful people share, Dr Bell suggests a unique approach “to success.” He comes at success through the lens of what it means to be a “person of value,” not a person of accumulations.  Dr Randall Bell is a socio-economist. He is internationally recognized his work as a Trauma Specialist, but also recognized as a man that simply understands what it means to live a life worth living. And that is what we talk about today. Parenting ADHD Podcast, with the ADHD Momma | Positive Parenting | ADHD Tools | Homework Strategies | ADHD at School | Learni

By college age, 66-85 percent of all people have been impacted by trauma. And marginalized populations — including those with disabilities like ADHD, autism, and anxiety — are much more likely to experience trauma, many consistently and frequently. We can't prevent all trauma, but we can affect how our kids (and ourselves) cope with it and heal it. In this episode of the Parenting ADHD Podcast, Dr. Randall Bell, author of “Post-Traumatic Thriving,” outlines the three choices an individual faces after trauma and the strategies scientific research identifies as necessary to thrive. If you are the caregiver of a child with ADHD, autism or anxiety, I can almost guarantee your child has been traumatized — and you probably have too — just by trying to succeed as a neurodiverse person in a neurotypical world. I encourage you to listen to this episode and help your family heal.

Communicating feelings, deep breathing and exercise are just three activities that help boost resilience in sports kids, says Dr. Randall Bell, a former youth sports coach and sports parent, a socio-economist and author of "Post-Traumatic Thriving: The Art, Science, & Stories of Resilience." Coaches and parents can help kids bounce back after setbacks by encouraging them to talk about how they feel, helping them practice deep breathing and ensuring they get exercise. It's also important for coaches and parents to acknowledge kids' feelings and use positive language, he says. Coaches naturally help accomplish these goals by providing an outlet for exercise, holding team meetings and being good listeners, he says.

'The paradox of trauma is that it has both the power to destroy and the power to transform and resurrect' (Peter A Levine)  'I see a world where everyone has access to the skills of goal setting, time management, conflict resolution, leadership, personal finance, etiquette, stress reduction, and much more. I'm convinced that these skills could have prevented some of the disasters I have seen. More importantly, they provide the foundation for people to not just survive but thrive.' (Dr. Randall Bell)  Dr. Randall Bell is an economist, sociologist and a world authority on post traumatic thriving. He has consulted on major disasters worldwide, including the largest climate, environmental and terrorist cases, such as Hurricane Katrina, the Bikini Atoll nuclear test sites, and the 911 destruction of the World Trade Center. Dr. Bill is the author of Post –Traumatic Thriving: The Art, Science and Stories of Resilience  His book relates stories of people who were able to use energy generated by their trauma to propel them to achieve  great things. Dr. Bell sets out a three stage process (Dive, Survive and Thrive) through which survivors can emerge healed whole and able to thrive.   Dr. Bell suggests that you 'Sit in the Fire'.  Share your story.  Allow yourself to be vulnerable to others, don't bottle up your emotions. Sitting in the fire is when we have those ugly, embarrassing conversations about trauma and, and it feels like you're sitting in a fire because you're burning up with emotion.  Ground yourself. Try meditation or deep breathing. This is a very simple technique that many thrivers practice.  Understand that trauma happens to all of us. By college age, 66-85% of people already have experienced trauma. When you get older, it's going to be 100%. But there are healthy ways to deal with it and emerge stronger despite it.  Connect with Dr. Randall Bell at: Website: www.doctorbell.com  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/randall-bell-phd-mai-301a4a19/  Contact  Dr. Gillian Lockitch to learn how you can decelerate your aging trajectory,  stay vibrant and vigorous, or start your own online business in wellness and anti-aging: https://linktr.ee/askdrgill   Email: askdrgill@gmail.comSchedule a complimentary Living Younger Discovery Call at https://bit.ly/3LbWvSV    Order your copy of Growing Older Living Younger: The Science of Aging Gracefully and the Art of Retiring Comfortably at www.gillianlockitch.com
