Part 1:We talk with Justin Elliott who writes for ProPublica. He describes the results of an investigation he did, with colleagues, to find out the details of a boarding house in Washington D.C. being used by Speaker Mike Johnson and other Republican Members as a residence. The house is owned by wealthy Republican supporter Lee Beeman, and is occupied/run by Rev. Berger as a home for white christian nationalists. It is not clear how much rent is being paid, and not clear how much unregistered lobbying is happening. Former Congressman Ogles, among others, is also resident.Part 2:We talk with Sasha Abramsky, who writes for The Nation. We discuss the various boasts and threats by Trump, who has expressed his desire to take over Canada, Greenland, and possibly other countries. This kind of action is compared to the Anschluss (annexations) by Hitler in the 1930s. While Americans almost laugh at these proposed actions, the Danes and Canadians are not laughing. We discuss what US residents/voters must do to prevent total disaster during Trump and Musk's "smash and grab" campaign.  Music: From David Rovics, “The Richest Man in the World Says So”, 2025

Send us a message! Really! This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, the brilliant businesspeople and billionaires that are currently running the country are driving the economy off a cliff; as Donald Trump's approval ratings slide into net-negative territory at record speed, are we great again yet? Then our neighbors to the north get rightfully pissed at American voters for putting this madman back in the Oval Office -- this time with his North American imperial ambitions! We attempt to gently and politely remind them that more people voted for someone else than voted for Donald Trump. Sorry! Then, Denver's Mayor, Mike Johnston, goes to Washington DC, and it goes a lot better than it could have, unless you're a Republican ad maker. And finally we check in with a few of Colorado's Republican Members of Congress to see how they're handling the whole governing thing. Spoiler alert: Not well! But first, Dr. Sarah Wilson Sokhey of the University of Colorado joins us to talk Ukraine, Russia, and whether we've ever seen a President of the United States or an entire political party parrot the propaganda of a foreign adversary.

On this episode of Ford News, Johnathan and Brian start the show with the debacle in foreign relations and diplomacy in the Oval Office last week as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with President Trump, J.D. Vance, and Sec. State Marco Rubio. It was an embarrassment for the United States and nothing we have seen EVER in the history of this country. In Segment Two, we discuss the numerous Republican members of Congress and the Senate who have faced pushback from their constituents at town halls being held in red districts and states. The folks seem to be a tad upset at some of the haphazard cuts that DOGE has made to the federal government. It's almost as if firing Vets is a bad idea. The third segment brings us to the "Ford Fact Check," where we dive into the true numbers as they relate to how much the United States is spending in supporting Ukraine. [This blog will always be free to read, but it's also how I pay my bills. If you have suggestions or feedback on how I can earn your paid subscription, shoot me an email: cmclymer@gmail.com. And if this is too big of a commitment, I'm always thankful for a simple cup of coffee.]Last week, at his NATO Summit press conference, President Biden, in the midst of consistently demonstrating a widely-praised command of foreign policy issues, went on a small diatribe about gun violence, which included this memorable phrase:"Control guns, not girls”It was immediately resonant, drawing acclaim from many quarters. It's the kind of simple yet powerful slogan that can propel a campaign into history. I was so taken with it that I launched a t-shirt campaign the following day; we've already sold more than 300. (Purchase yours here: https://www.bonfire.com/controlgunsnotgirls/)Full video of the President's remarks are below (the gun reform portion starts at 2:20):The President has a history of making prescient remarks; anyone remember the USA Today op-ed he wrote on the threat of COVID in early 2020, just six weeks before the shutdown? Two days after this presser, a 20 year-old gunman used an AR-15-style rifle purchased by his father to fire eight rounds at Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. One round went through the upper part of Trump's right ear, while other shots critically wounded two audience members behind him and killed a third: 50 year-old Corey Comperatore, who was shielding his two daughters from the gunfire.I want to quickly point out that I can't imagine being the family of Mr. Comperatore and hearing elected officials like Sen. Marco Rubio claim that God saved Donald Trump, the implication being that those wounded and killed in senseless acts of gun violence were forgotten by God. That's not faith. That's warping and exploiting the love of God for cultish ends. This horrific tragedy should never have happened. No civilian should be able to purchase an AR-15-style rifle, a weapon of war, but moreover, if we treated firearms with respect in this country, there would be comprehensive safety, licensing, and registration regulations similar to those we have for cars.In the aftermath, every major Democratic leader in the country immediately condemned this act of cowardice. The President—in addition to delivering an immediate on-camera statement—called Trump to offer support, assembled federal resources to investigate the tragedy, and gave a moving national address from the Oval Office demanding a wholesale rejection of political violence.Meanwhile, a number of Republican elected officials and pundits chose to politicize the tragedy while the victims were still being helped. Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio—Trump's likely running mate—immediately blamed the assassination attempt on President Biden. Congressman Mike Collins (GA-10) histrionically claimed that Pres. Biden “sent the orders” for Trump to be assassinated. I find this fascinating given that the only incendiary rhetoric literally calling for political violence has been from the Republican Party, particularly in the past few months.Like Kevin D. Roberts, president of The Heritage Foundation, the conservative think tank behind the unabashedly fascist Project 2025, who said, two weeks ago, that the country “is in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be.”“Bloodless.”That same week, North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, the Republican candidate for governor who's been endorsed by Trump, told a church congregation that “some folks need killing” and that “Some liberal somewhere is gonna say that sounds awful. Too bad. Get mad at me if you want to. Some folks need killing. It's time for someday to say it. It's not a matter of vengeance. It's not a matter of being mean or spiteful. It's a matter of necessity.”Or how about last year when numerous Republican Members of Congress started wearing AR-15 pins on their suits while at the Capitol, handed out by Rep. Andrew Clyde of Georgia, who owns a stake in the company that sells them. The AR-15 and its variants are responsible for most of the mass shootings that have become some of the most tragic markers on the American psyche in recent memory: Sandy Hook, Uvalde, Route 91 Harvest Festival, among others, and, of course, this past weekend's assassination attempt on Trump and the murder of Mr. Comperatore. There is only one major political party using and condoning and enabling violent rhetoric. Just one. It's the Republican Party.Don't let any political journalist or outlet opine about politicization while they fail to hold accountable the GOP's horrific rhetoric. Don't let them shame you into ignoring this appalling double standard.Control guns, not girls.Charlotte's Web Thoughts is a reader-supported publication. Guest: Aaron Maté. Key allegations from the Russiagate conspiracy have now officially collapsed with the release of transcripts from witness interviews that were conducted over the past three years. Now the walls are truly closing in and not in the way the Trump-Russia obsessed media presented it in the past. Key Obama administration officials, under oath, said they had no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Perhaps the biggest blow was delivered by Crowdstrike, the private cybersecurity firm that served as a critical source on the Russian hacking claim. We now know that Crowdstrike’s president told Congress more than two years ago that it had no real evidence that Russian hackers exfiltrated emails and passed them to Wikileaks. Aaron notes, in an understated manner, that this “raises new questions about whether Special Counsel Robert Mueller, intelligence officials and Democrats misled the public.”  At the end of the interview, there’s an extra/bonus segment for patrons on the question of which forces were driving the Russiagate conspiracy. On the Friday interview edition of the Daily Caller Podcast, we sit down with author Jarrett Stepman to talk about his new book, "The War On History: The Conspiracy to Rewrite America's Past." We also cover the news that the investigation into the origin of the Russia hoax has turned from an inquiry to a criminal probe, and how the liberal media is desperately trying to preemptively dismiss any findings or charges that could be disruptive to the Democratic narrative. News broke last night that the inquiry into the origins of the Russia investigation and spying on the Trump campaign by the Obama administration has become an official criminal probe, which indicates US Attorney John Durham has reason to believe crimes may have been committed in the birthing of the hoax. This has liberals beside themselves with anger and nervous at what he might discover. In response, they've already started downplaying it and declaring it partisan, something they never did to the Mueller investigation. We get into the hypocrisy and what they're so afraid of. We also have two audio montages: one of the media angrily reacting to violent, screaming liberals raging against the Kavanaugh nomination being called a mob, and the other of the very same media gleefully calling protesting Republican Members of Congress a mob while tossing in a few "a bunch of white guys" for good measure. They hypocrisy of supposed journalists is on full display, you have to hear it to believe it. For the interview, we sat down with the Daily Signal columnist Jarrett Stepman to talk about his great new book "The War on History." What lies won't the left tell about the founding of this country and which historical figure won't they destroy? The removal of statues of Founding Fathers and "indigenous people's day" are just a few examples of how liberals are using revisionist history to manipulate people and advance their leftist agenda. We get into and explain it all.

On Thursday's Mark Levin Show, twelve Republican Senators and fourteen Republican Members of the House voted with Speaker Nancy Pelosi to block President Trump’s National Emergencies Act today. They do not have enough votes to stop his veto power, but the media is having a field day with this "defection." Pause and put yourself in the President's shoes; he runs a campaign on the issue of securing the border, he requests the funds for border security and Pelosi says no. Subsequently, the government is partially shut down because Congress continues to block him. So he uses his constitutional authority as head of the executive branch to use congressionally authorized statutes to declare a national emergency under the National Emergencies Act. Vowing to fulfill his duties as President and use already appropriated funds from the military to build the border barrier. Now, Congress is voting against him to block the use of his statutory authority and constitutional mandate to uphold the Constitution and protect our nation. Then, CNN's John King misrepresented the commentary on this program on his TV show. Depicting Trump's use of a Congressional Act is legal, unlike President Obama's abuse of executive orders when he governed by fiat and created the DACA legislation without going through Congress, or how Obama violated the treaties Act when he again skirted Congress with his Billion-dollar Iran Deal. Afterwards, a federal court has ruled that the gun maker Remington can be sued for the Sandy Hook massacre. Finally, Congressman Beto O'Rourke who was convicted of a DWI is now running for President. From "The Disability Leadership Series" 1999 - 2000 "Here's this delinquent kid sitting up there next to the President of the United States and…they're playing the Battle Hymn of the Republic. It's just like the end of a 1930's movie, you know? And then it occurred to me that it is not the end…Here are all these millions of people in the United States and half a billion people around the world whose futures will be determined by whether this law is successful or not." - Justin Dart Justin Whitlock Dart Jr was an American activist and advocate for people with disabilities. He helped to pass the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, co-founded the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), and is regarded as the "Godfather of the ADA". During his time at the University of Houston, which was then segregated, Dart organized the first student group to oppose racism. After graduating, Dart was a successful entrepreneur who founded three Japanese corporations, but in 1967 he gave up the corporate life to devote himself to the rights of people with disabilities, working in Texas and Washington, D.C. as a member of various state and federal disability commissions. In 1972, Dart switched from identifying as a Democrat to become a Republican. He opposed the efforts of President Ronald Reagan, a personal friend of the Dart family, to revise the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, and in 1981 accepted an appointment from President Reagan to be the vice-chair of the National Council on Disability. On Capitol Hill, Dart worked closely with both Democratic and Republican Members of Congress to advance the rights of disabled people, including U.S. Congressman Major Owens of New York City, who served as chairman of the Subcommittee on Select Education in the U.S. House of Representatives during the late 1980s and early 1990s as well as during the early crafting of the legislative language and the fierce debates on the Americans' With Disability Act (ADA) before its eventual passage in the House of Representatives. Gary, Lyn and Dee discuss politics and current events.   We start with a letter from a listener, re: DaVita.  We talk about Scott Pruitt leaving the EPA.  We’re replacing Pruitt with Wheeler, probably no better for the environment.  Wheeler may be less personally corrupt.  Speaking of the environment, the NASA head that we all feared, has changed his mind on climate change.  In a spot of good news, Bridenstine believes that climate change is real and that man is responsible for it.  We discuss California and car regulations.  In an interesting turn of events, retiring justice Kennedy’s son is employed by Deutsche Bank.  Deutsche Bank is responsible for a lot of business loans for a certain orange person.  We review the many ways that Japanese gun laws are different than US gun laws.  We discuss the AMA’s recent decision to get involved with gun legislation lobbying.  Why did several Republican Members of Congress spend July 4th in Moscow?  The Senate Intelligence Committee has concluded that Russia meddled in the 2016 election to favor Trump.  Australia previously eliminated tax credits of about $737 (Australian) per year for parents who refused to vaccinate their children.  They are now fining parents an additional $28/2 wks.  So, they are nearly doubling the fines.  In another Good News story, we cover a retired elementary school principal who paints maps for children in various places.  (Most notably on playgrounds.) #DaVita #EPA #NASA #Kennedy #GunLaws #RsInMoscow #SenIntel #Vaxxers  #PaintMaps Like listening to Peak Reality Check?  Would you like to donate to keep it going?  Check out our Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/DeirdreL The post Peak Reality Check, July 6, 2018 appeared first on Studio 809 Radio.
