Are you curious about the role of Medical Affairs in Independent Medical Education (IME)? Perhaps you're struggling to demonstrate the value and impact of your programs in a way that resonates with IME teams. IME is evolving. Today's episode with IME expert Nancy Paynter discusses the pivotal role of IME within the broader scope of medical affairs and provides valuable insights to help you effectively communicate your initiative's impact to IME personnel. By tuning in, you'll discover: The concept of the "scientific journey" for clinicians  How IME is focused on digitizing data on clinical and patient decision-making What the evolution of IME within Medical Affairs means for CME/CPD. Don't miss this opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the evolving role of IME and medical affairs and their strategic priorities. Takeaways 1. Independent Medical Education is becoming more closely integrated with medical affairs, aligning with broader organizational goals and cross-functional partnerships. 2. Medical affairs teams use the four-stage "scientific journey" framework to plan their engagement strategies and meet clinicians where they are in their understanding and adoption of new evidence. The stages include Awareness, Agreement, Adoption, and Advocacy. 3. CME can support the scientific journey while maintaining independence by conducting root cause analyses of practice and care gaps, employing data-driven strategies, and adapting educational materials based on real-time feedback and learner outcomes. By doing so, CME is well-positioned to serve as a strategic partner to IME in driving meaningful educational outcomes. On this edition of Parallax Views, retired diplomat Patrick Theros, who served as the United States Ambassador to Qatar from 1995 to 1998 and is currently a Strategic Adviser for Gulf International Forum, joins the show to discuss Israel/Palestine and the war in Gaza from a diplomat's perspective and his Responsible Statecraft piece "Who's the superpower around here?". We discuss what Biden must do in this situation not just for the sake of Palestinians, but also Israelis. Theros argues that if a President isn't willing to take the risk of making difficult decisions then what is the point of being President. He also laments the lack of diplomatic thought in approaching the Middle East arguing that you have to understand the perspective of the various players in the region and in many cases people do not do this. We also discuss how the GCC Gulf states have responded to the Gaza war, Iran in relation to the Gaza war, actions of past presidents like Eisenhower and HW Bush in regard to Israel/Palestine, Bill Clinton and Camp David 2000 (and the often repeated but contested claim that Arafat turned down a fair and generous offer), and much, much more.

Imagine a tax-funded health care system, a source of national pride, offering universal coverage and free health care to 54 million people. In this episode, Helen Bevan, Strategic Adviser for the National Health Service Horizons in England sheds light on the incredible work happening within the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK.  Helen shares the concept of task shifting, where certain procedures and responsibilities are being moved from one profession to another within the health care system. She highlights the positive outcomes and better utilization of resources that can be achieved when nurses are well-trained to perform certain procedures under the supervision of doctors. Helen delves into the implementation of integrated care systems by the NHS in the UK. These systems aim to provide care closer to people's homes, support self-care, and bridge the gap between health care and social care. She is working on self-referral systems in health care. Currently, people need to go through a GP for certain services, but Helen believes patients should be able to directly access services they know they need. This empowers patients to make their own health care decisions. Get ready for an insightful discussion on the future of health care and the importance of solidarity. Learn more about your ad choices. The Infrastructure Podcast

In this podcast we talk about the challenge of creating a circular economy in the built environment as key to working towards a sustainable, net zero carbon emission future. Last month a new movement was launched across infrastructure at the World Circular Economy Forum with a vision for a built environment whose purpose is, and I quote: “to enable people and nature to flourish together for generations.”I call it a movement because it involved a range of people, organisations and businesses who came together to publish a document called Our Shared Understanding - a summary of core concepts that inform the transition to a circular economy. So what is the circular economy in respect to the built environment?  Well according to this report its “about enabling people and nature to live and grow within our planet's capacity to provide resources and handle waste”.That means getting the greatest possible value from the use of materials, products, assets and systems in the built environment - value as defined by the social, environmental and economic outcomes gained from that investment. More on that later. This document also highlights why circularity is so important and of course sets out a number of key objectives and challenges to help the sector to finally embrace the concept. In short, it calls for collective action to first choose to make change happen and second, for radical collaboration accelerate the move towards circularity. To guide us through the challenges, my guest today is Mark Enzer, Strategic Adviser, Mott MacDonald and visiting professor, University of Cambridge, who has been driving this movement and continues to agitate for change across the sector.Resources Our Shared UnderstandingDigital Twin HubUK government circular economy package policyCentre for Digital Built Britain Digital Twin legacy site

If there was one thing you think society should talk more about, what would it be?“The current political environment and apparent lack of leadership in our country.”My guest today is a successful business leader, active social commentator and activist. Kylea Tink believes that challenges cannot and should not be ignored. She has been a driving force behind a number of initiatives that have shaped the Australian community for the better. Kylea is a passionate believer that each of us can play an important role in addressing the challenges facing our society. Being told something can't be done, or shouldn't be considered or discussed, has more often than not motivated her to ask "why not" and to play her part in the push for positive change. Kylea has been a CEO, Managing Director, business owner, Board Director and Strategic Adviser. For the past 30 years, Kylea has worked in all sectors - Government, Commercial and Not-for-Profit, helping to drive sustainable, positive change. Her capacity to quickly come to grips with business and stakeholder challenges has seen her not only champion the development of several iconic community campaigns (including the Sydney Pink Test) but has ultimately resulted in the achievement of a number of sustainable positive social changes. From her current work with organisations assisting vulnerable young Australians, through to the role she played as CEO at the McGrath Foundation to establish the organization and exponentially expand its Breast Care Nurse Network, to her most recent role as CEO of Camp Quality where she was challenged to bring the organization into the 21st Century, Kylea's commitment to never settling for the status quo has meant she is widely recognized as a formidable change agent. With a proven track record for building and inspiring high performing teams, Kylea's ultimate motivation is simple: “To leave the world a better place than I found it!” Kylea and I met many years ago under the stars in the outback at an incredible dinner at Uluru. We had so much in common and we've been great mates ever since. Kylea called me before she went public to let me know she was putting her hand in the ring to join politics. I challenged her on whether she was sure she wanted to do it. This country does not have a great political landscape and female politicians are somewhat marginalised. So I asked her ‘Why would you willingly put yourself (and your children) into that incredibly tough environment?” Her response gave me lots to think about - and that's why I wanted to get her on the show to chat on this interesting topic that might make you put more thought into the next time you vote. Since 1995, he has been covering the environment for the New York Times, but his first prize-winning magazine articles on the human influence on climate were published more than 20 years ago, before the creation of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He has written acclaimed books on the Amazon, global warming, and the changing Arctic. Andrew Revkin has spent his professional career covering environmental issues and writing about them contemporaneously. However, his most recent book, just published in May 2018, tracks climate change by looking at 100 historical events that help explain today’s climate debate. The book is “Weather: An Illustrated History: From Cloud Atlases to Climate Change” published by Sterling and it is co-authored by Revkin’s wife, Lisa Mechaley. He goes back to pre-history and brings the important climate events, people and milestones forward to our current political climate-change debate. Each short narrative section is accompanied by stunning illustrations. During his discussion with Spectrum’s podcast host Tom Hodson, he highlights some of the most noteworthy historical events and personalities with fascinating and sometimes witty stories about people such as Benjamin Franklin and his lightning rod and weather events like the killer London Fog of the 1950’s. Revkin certainly has the credentials to write a retrospective on weather and climate change. He is award winning environmental journalist, author, educator, musical composer and performer. Andy spent 21 years writing about the environment for the New York Times and created the popular Dot Earth blog for the Times. He also was the first journalist to report from drifting sea ice at the North Pole. He then spent time writing for ProPublica doing investigative pieces. He now is the Strategic Adviser for Environmental and Science Journalism at the National Geographic Society. He also has spent time teaching at Pace University. In addition to writing, Revkin is a musical composer and performer. He often performed with the legendary environmentalist/folk singer Pete Seeger. Our panel included: Bridget Rosewell OBE, Commissioner at the National Infrastructure Commission Isabel Dedring, Global Transport Leader at Arup and former Deputy Mayor for Transport in London Dr Ed Hoffman, Strategic Adviser at PMI and former Chief Knowledge Officer at NASA. For generations, humanity stared at the vastness of the oceans and wondered, “What if?” Today, having explored the curves of the Earth, we now stare at endless stars and wonder, “What if?” Our technology has brought us to the make-or-break moment in human history. We can either grow complacent, and go extinct like the dinosaurs, or spread throughout the cosmos, as Carl Sagan dreamed of. For many years Nikola Danaylov has been interviewing the future and motivating people all over the world to embrace rather than fear it. "Conversations with the Future" was born from those interviews and Nik's unceasing need to explore "What If" with some of the most forward thinking visionaries in the world today.   About Our Guest: Nik Danaylov is a Keynote Speaker, Futurist, Strategic Adviser, popular Blogger and Podcast host. The most interesting problems on the web are social, not technical. Once the open, social stack moves into wide use, the real work is going to be on us to create ongoing experiences that inspire, inform, evolve. Avoid this talk if you want to hear about monetizing community, gaming the newest social site for a quick spike in your user numbers, or how to get a [insert cutting edge social platform] strategy for your brand. Instead, we’ll diagram (sentence-like) real examples of marketing and revising (reviving?) web products for connected consumers. Think of it as Mind Hacks for Web Marketers. We’ll show you how sites like Dogster, Etsy, Moo, Photojojo and others parlay initial passions into deep, sustained, active communities. People-powered thinking extends well beyond messaging. Instead, we’ll preach a connected style of marketing that addresses a range of operational areas, both coming & going. We’ll pay particular attention to what happens after launch, as we think an attentive to and fro is the intimate secret of success. Deborah Schultz is a thought leader and innovator on the impact and adoption of Internet technologies and the power of technology to connect society, culture and business. She speaks and consults on the cultural and economic impact of the Internet, and specifically where our social and technological networks overlap. She currently serves as Procter & Gamble’s Strategic Adviser for Social Media & Emerging Technology and has also consulted with and advised Fortune 50 companies including Pepsi, GE, and Citicorp as well as numerous internet startups and VC firms. She is a regular keynote speaker at tech and business conferences. Previously, Deborah was the Marketing Director at Six Apart, ran her own marketing consultancy firm, was a management consultant at AnswerThink and spent five years at Citibank where she developed many of the global bank’s first internet initiatives.
