This interview took place on September 28, 2020. We met at a party in Nashville. It was an artsy crowd, and we met a lot of new people that night. Somehow the two of us have kept in touch, Camilla and I, via Facebook. So when I found out that Camilla was navigating being an art teacher during the pandemic, I asked if we could chat. She brought along her husband, Keith, also a teacher, and I must say it was a great discussion. Surprisingly, Camilla has left her teaching career and ventured full-time into an art business with her educational paint-by-number kits. Please listen to this episode or watch the video, as we had a great time talking about "all things 2020". This interview took place on August 31, 2020. After joining a Facebook group about reopening Tennessee schools safely, I was tagged by Alisha Morris, a high school teacher in Olathe, Kansas who had spent a considerable amount of time gathering information of COVID-19 cases in schools across the country. She noticed that I was talking about collecting data, which meant we had something in common. Alisha started gathering news articles in her local area and then expanded beyond that to other cities and towns across the country. Few articles about cases involving schools’ faculty, students, and athletes were hitting the mainstream media as plans were forming up around opening for the fall semester. She saw an opportunity to pull information together to show how seriously the pandemic was affecting reopening plans. shoutyourcause.com Facebook.com/shoutyourcause Twitter.com/shoutyourcause

Kimberly Charron is a busy, creative, homeschooling, geek mom of two, who believes in out of the box thinking and doing what you love. Geek Schooling is dedicated to ending your frustrations with your obsessed, geeky child and helping you to enjoy easy, delight directed learning with them, centered on their passions and fandoms. This interview took place on June 3, 2020. Like many people these days, I met Rathna online through a business group that we are both in. She has a bubbly personality and love for life that is contagious. Knowing how she’s had to pivot significantly this year to get her camp offerings online, I reached out to get her perspective on what is happening in her world. Not only is Rathna Ramakrishnan a Google Digital Coach at SmallBizUnBoxed, but she also runs a thriving children’s camp business that features engineering-based LEGO® sets and Money 101 concepts. Both in-person and online camps from the Palo Alto area of California are available. Spending time with her family is important to her, as she likes to travel near and far on exciting adventures. shoutyourcause.com Facebook.com/shoutyourcause Twitter.com/shoutyourcause
This interview took place on June 25, 2020. Lindsay and I first met online before we met in person in New York City and then again in San Diego. Breaking out of the world of academia into entrepreneurship as an online course creator and mentor, she has plenty to say about how things are changing for college professors in the time of COVID. Dr. Lindsay Padilla is the ex-professor-turned-entrepreneur behind On Course Social, the dynamic prompt calendar tool, and Build a Better Beta, an online program that helps experts and educators alike launch their first courses quickly and easily. She is also the CEO and co-founder of Hello Audio, which takes your content and creates private audio feeds to make consumption easier for your people! All of her frameworks were born out of her tenure-track years teaching adults online at a community college, the ridiculous amount of learning she’s done in all things education, and the years spent growing her course creation business online. With this unique background, she is also the rambunctious host of the Wealthy Teachers Podcast, which covers the business of teaching online. shoutyourcause.com Facebook.com/shoutyourcause Twitter.com/shoutyourcause

This interview took place on May 15, 2020. Connecting in person with Veronica at the Social Media Marketing World conference every year is a highlight for me. We both support businesses with online marketing know-how, but Veronica focuses mainly on e-commerce clients who use Shopify to sell their products, while I focus more on sales funnels and Facebook advertising for service-based businesses that use Kajabi or Wordpress. I reached out to Veronica to find out how things are going these days in the e-commerce world. Veronica Jeans is an eCommerce Business Consultant & Shopify Expert. With a passion for following online sales trends, she can tell you all about turning an initial investment of $100,000 into a company with a return above $2.5 million annually within 2 years, because she’s done it. This interview took place on April 24, 2020. After renovating part of her home as an Airbnb rental, Kimberly was thrilled that March and April were fully booked for with guests who were ready for the downtown Nashville museums and music. When COVID-19 hit the scene, her plans were squashed, all bookings canceled, and Nashville’s honky-tonk scene became a ghost town. Kimberly’s husband has his own business venture as a DJ for weddings and corporate events, another business that is not recession-proof. She put on her advocacy hat and created the #freetn movement for Tennesseans ready to go back to work. This is her story. shoutyourcause.com Facebook.com/shoutyourcause Twitter.com/shoutyourcause
This interview took place on April 29, 2020. I first met Sigrun in 2016 at Social Media Marketing World in San Diego at an impromptu lunch with other online business friends. She was emerging as a well-known influencer for female entrepreneurs with online businesses and quickly rose to the top of her game. Her in-person summit in Iceland was coming up in June, and I had a ticket to go. COVID-19 had other plans causing the cancelation of many events around the world including this one. I figured the next-best thing would be to interview her for this podcast to see how she and women who work with her are responding. Sigrun is on a mission to accelerate gender equality through female entrepreneurship. She is the leading business mentor for female online entrepreneurs in Europe, TEDx speaker, and host of the Sigrun Show podcast. Originally from Reykjavik, Iceland, she has spent more than half her life outside her home country; in Germany, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Since she was a young girl she’s always been drawn to leadership roles, so despite having zero business background nor the education she made a life-changing phone call and asked to become the CEO of a software company shortly after finishing her master’s degree in architecture – and she got the job! Ten years, another three master’s degrees, and several CEO roles later, Sigrun found herself in Switzerland with her newfound love but sick and unemployable. Her dream was to be location independent so she could spend time in Iceland and Switzerland, travel the world, and take care of her health. So in 2014, Sigrun started her online business and within 4 years she built a 7 figure business helping women from all over the world. Her signature program is SOMBA, Sigrun’s Online MBA, and her other programs are SOMBA Momentum, a group coaching program, VIP Mastermind, a mastermind program, and the Red Circle, the first million-dollar mastermind for female entrepreneurs in Europe. shoutyourcause.com Facebook.com/shoutyourcause Twitter.com/shoutyourcause
This interview took place on April 22, 2020. With colleges having to pivot in the middle of the semester all over the world, reaching out to Dr. Keith Carver, chancellor of the University of Tennessee at Martin, was an obvious choice for an interview. Keith and I attended Memphis State University together nearly 30 years ago. Listen to how Keith is handling the COVID-19 situation. Dr. Keith Carver began his duties as is the 11th chancellor of the University of Tennessee at Martin on January 3, 2017. After losing his father to cancer the day of his final high school exam four years ago, he’s now facing an unknown path into his career as he finishes his bachelor’s degree. He has been on a long journey of self-discovery and has had to grow up faster than most young adults his age. This is how he is responding. Keaton is currently a senior at the University of Tennessee at Martin who is pursuing a BSBA degree in Business Management with a minor in English. In his free time, he loves hiking and playing guitar. He also loves writing and is in the process of writing his first memoir. shoutyourcause.com Facebook.com/shoutyourcause Twitter.com/shoutyourcause

This interview took place on March 31, 2020. We grew up together in West Tennessee, and when the coronavirus news started popping up all over Facebook, Maelynn and I reconnected in the comment threads of posts on the news of this virus.
