In this episode of Million Dollar Mastermind podcast, Host Larry Weidel speaks with Sigrun Gudjonsdottir. Sigrun's resume is certainly a weighty and impressive one, as she's a best-selling author of Kickstart Your Online Business: Create an Online Course and Start to Make Sales; Creator of SOMBA; host of the SIGRUN SHOW Podcast; Founder and Investor of Huvumus; and also a Board Member for the Joint Forces Club.
It's going to be very hard for you to find a job. These were the words of my advisor when I went to the unemployment office after having been fired twice in a short period of time. I kept applying for positions I thought were a perfect fit but never got a reply. My hopes were down. I was also still feeling the pain from my chronic illness, and the thought of working a full-time job scared me. When I read that the unemployment office helps people start their own business, I saw it as my chance. I quickly created a business plan for selling Icelandic design online and did a three week start up course where I learned all the basics of setting up a business in Switzerland. But when I ended the course, I started doubting my own idea. Seven years have passed since then, and (spoiler!) I haven't gone on to build an Icelandic design trading empire. I have done something better: I found my passion, entered my zone of genius and become a top female business coach. In this episode of the Sigrun Show, I share how I finally found my calling and started scaling my business to multiple seven figures, and the roadblocks and successes I experienced along the way. This is my story of how I went from unemployed to a selfmade millionaire. With this episode, I want to inspire you to think bigger and take action. Make your dream come true. “The beginning years are the most important ones: that's where a business is born.”- Sigrun What you will get out of this episode: How I got sick in 2010 and lost my job (3:49) My wake up call (13:37) Picking a business idea (18:16) Finding the right direction (27:17) How webinars became my thing (33:28) My money mindset issue (39:06) From my first sale to 6 figures in 12 months (41:48) Taking the next step: scaling my business (42:18) How the idea of SOMBA was born (48:32) My first live event (52:04) Big decisions: Working with a female coach and planning my own conference (55:37) Hiring my team (58:45) The next normal (1:03:37) Do you want more inspiration for building your online business? Find out how I got from zero to six figures in 12 months and avoid making any mistakes by reading the top 10 reasons why most online businesses fail. How to Build an Online Business (and Scale It the Right Way) I was making a good living doing one on one coaching, but I always knew that if I wanted to take my online business to the next level, I had to start scaling it. From my times as a CEO, I remembered that the only way to grow a business was to hire more people. I swore to myself that if I ever started my own business, I wouldn't want its growth to be dependent on the number of employees. I wanted the business itself to be scalable. At the time, I had no idea that my own business would make multiple 7 figures one day. My goal had been to get to 6 figures and in March 2015, I reached that goal, exactly 12 months after my first sale. It was a huge milestone, but I knew that I had to take the next step. Constantly raising my prices or taking on more clients wasn't going to be sustainable. What I had to do is scale, and here is how I did it: Creating a Group Coaching Program I had been thinking about group coaching for a while and got this idea that I wanted to prove that I can sell in July, in the middle of the summer, when most coaches feel it's not a good time to sell. I came up with an idea for a coaching program, created a sales page, did some seeding in my free Facebook group and ended up selling 6 spots, two times. It opened my eyes: I was able to scale! Selling Multiple Group Coaching Programs I started selling multiple group coaching programs and made them longer, first 8 weeks and then 3 months, and called them masterminds. There was no need to create tons of content, because the groups were about helping people with whatever was going on in their business at the time. I focused on coaching in the moment. Make Groups Larger I realised that I could have more than 6 people in my groups and launched a 9 month mastermind group with 10 people. But I wanted to go further. I thought about how much time I really spend per person and decided that I could launch a new group with 18 people and still offer the same value to them. These same people went on to stay with me for years. At this point, my group programs were generating more revenue than my one on one coaching and I decided to only keep on a few selected people as my one on one clients. Introduce Levels I started gearing up for a massive launch of my group coaching programs. My idea was to do multiple groups of 18 people on different levels, depending on where they were at in their businesses. The further along people were, the less people would be in the group so I could assure them enough time with me. Create a Signature Program When I sold out 4 group coaching programs, I told my business coach very proudly that I just had my biggest launch ever. This is what he said to me: And you have nothing else to sell now? His words were a turning point for me, because they made me come up with the idea for SOMBA - Sigrun's Online MBA, a new one year program where I would teach women (and a few men) everything they need to know about online business. I've been running SOMBA for 3 years now, increased the price from $1000 to $3000 and my launches have grown from $50k to $575k. My coach's comment was crucial for me. I thought I was scaling my business with group programs, but to really reach the next level, you have to have an online course or program where you can have as many people as you want in it, without having to spend extra resources. In 2017, I finally created that course which is now my signature program, and it's a fantastic feeling. Are you inspired to grow and scale your own online business? Before I officially started my online business, I wasted 18 months overthinking my business idea. I created freebie after freebie, tried tool after tool, signed up for one free training after the other - but my business didn't take off. After nine months I admitted to myself that I needed help. I was scared of the $5K investment, but I knew that doing it on my own wasn't going to work either. And then the magic happened: I learned to launch, started to make sales, and shifted my mindset. As a result I achieved my first $10K month. It took me 27 months to get there. Today, I'm running a multiple seven-figure business. I've come up with SOMBA Kickstart, a step-by-step process where you can skip all the mistakes I've made and create your success in 10 weeks - and not waste months, like I did. You'll learn how to figure out who your ideal client is, where you can find them and how you can reach them with your message. After two weeks you know exactly who your ideal client is and what kind of course you need to create to attract them. Creating a free course During SOMBA Kickstart, you create a free 4-week course based on the needs of your ideal client and run it at the same time. The reason you're offering this course for free is that you can test it, attract more people to sign up and grow your email list, and gain valuable insights and powerful testimonials that later help with your sales. After SOMBA Kickstart, this will become a course you can sell again and again.

When I started my online business, I had no idea I was going to have a multiple 7-figure business 7 years later, or that I would achieve one million in revenue in 4 years. I remember not even having these aspirations. I didn't see myself as someone who could achieve that. I saw other people doing it, but me? I hadn't even started my online business yet. I was throwing spaghetti at the wall, hoping that something would stick. I started creating freebies and held webinars in order to grow my list, but I forgot the most important thing of all: Having an offer ready that I could sell. On my journey, I went from 1:1 clients to group coaching, creating my first online course to coming up with my signature course SOMBA, and after four years in business, I hit the $1M mark. In this episode, I share my path to a million dollar online business, complete with the ups and downs I experienced. I also share the case studies of two special women, Ingrid and Claudia, who are both clients of mine and are on the path to creating a million dollar online business. With this episode, I want to encourage you. Like me when I started out, you might be someone who can't imagine ever achieving $1M with your business. But I did it. Ingrid and Claudia are on their way to doing it. And if we can do it, you can do it too. You just need to know the path to get there. “The reason I reached $1M in revenue is because I had a scalable online course that allowed me to work less and earn more.” - Sigrun In this Episode of The Sigrun Show: The first months in business Learning how to launch Moving over to group coaching Designing my signature program SOMBA Working with affiliates The year I made $1M The new structure of my programs Ingrid's success story CLaudia's success story Want to dive deeper? Tobi Fairley, my guest this week on the Sigrun Show, has a lot in common with me. We have both made it our mission to empower women and get them to step up and be successful with their business. But while I mainly focus on service-based entrepreneurship, Tobi is concentrating on helping creative people make money online. Tobi isn't just a creative herself - she is a left-brain and right-brain person and has a degree in interior design as well as accounting. This is somewhat unique in the creative industry, and it has served her well in order to build up her business successfully. She's worked as an interior designer for 20 years, was in magazines and created product lines for companies. She did all the things in the designing industry she dreamed of, but what she liked most was working together with other creatives. As she saw the interior design business slow down back in 2008, she reflected on what else she could give to her audience. She realised that what people wanted from her was to look over her shoulders and see how she created her brand and ran her business. She started a weekend design camp where people could attend seminars and sessions and eventually grew it into the successful consulting business she runs today. Her goal is to empower especially creative women to step into their personal power, believe in their ideas and charge their worth. Today, Tobi shares how she was able to reach such success, how to overcome the starving artist syndrome and why it's more important than ever that artists take charge of the business side of their craft. If you've been brought up in the belief that you can't make money as an artist, this episode will turn your world upside down. “We are the only people holding back our pricing, our value and the success of our business.” - Tobi Fairley In This Episode of The Sigrun Show: How Tobi came to work with creatives How Tobi explains her own success The starving artist syndrome and how to overcome it Why artists need to take charge of the business side The steps to become visible as an artist How to overcome the pricing problem Ideal clients and adapting your offers What changes when you sell products vs. services Want to dive deeper? Find out how your money mindset affects your revenue potential or how to become known in 30 months or less. Starving Artist Syndrome: 3 Tips to Overcome it and Start Making Money Whether you're a graphic designer, a painter, an interior designer or a sculptor - how can you actually overcome the starving artist syndrome, be visible for potential clients and make money online? In Tobi's experience, artists tend to think about possible steps of action, map them out and put them on their schedule, but when the time comes to pull through, they believe they can only do it when their creativity strikes. Or they think that if their work is good enough, one day they will just “be found”. But if you want to make money and have success as a creative, you need to actively put yourself out there and attract clients. Here are Tobi's top 3 tips on overcoming the starving artist syndrome: Make a plan that involves social media and digital marketing. You need an email list, lead magnets, a good website - all the things that keep you from being hidden. But more than that, you need to consistently show up and follow the plan, especially when you don't feel like it. Go and put yourself out there. What's on the plan is in some way less important than showing up and following through. Pricing is a reflection of your self-worth. What most artists do is they look at other people's prices and they're judging themselves against these people. They're trying to find the “going rate”. Yet they have no idea if the people they're looking at are actually making any money, or if they have the same expenses. It's a shot in the dark and wrong to settle on a price just because somebody else has picked it, and that makes you think it must be what people are willing to pay. Reflect on what you need and want to make. Then make sure that the product you're selling is worth that price. Don't wait for the world to raise the value of what they believe an artist to be worth. You have to set your price, and then meet that price with your deliverance. A lot of creatives put everybody that approaches them into the same pot of clients and they let the ones who aren't their ideal client make them believe that their prices are too high. It's normal that only a small number of people will be interested in your high-end, most valuable service or product. Most people will be interested in you and what you offer, but aren't willing to pay high rates. That's why you should figure out what other scalable, lower rate services you could offer that cater to their needs. Create other revenue streams that sustain your business and fill in the gap while you can patiently wait for the right client to fit your high-end product. Did these tips inspire you to get your creative business going? You can follow and connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I want you to be honest - have you ever NOT done something because you felt you're not good enough or because you were doubting your abilities? So many people, especially women, get stuck because they lack the self-confidence to go after their dreams. Lisa Hyde, my guest this week on the Sigrun Show, has made it her mission to help such women get unstuck. Lisa grew up in LA. Half her family was in the entertainment business and she soon realised that she loved helping people develop their talents. She became a talent agent and worked together with unknown actors, writers and comedians to turn them into household names. One of her clients was Jimmy Fallon. The chaos, the craziness - she loved everything about the world she was working in, until her mother fell ill. Lisa gave up her career and became her caretaker. She went on a journey to re-evaluate her life and understand what truly makes her happy. But as she was starting to get back up again, she lost her grandmother. Along with the two most important people in her life, she felt as if she had lost her passion and vision. When a random person on LinkedIn contacted her and invited her to join a network marketing business, she was very sceptical but decided to give it a shot. The business was about skin care products and Lisa quickly learned everything about it. But while she was focusing on growing her business, she also wondered why she could always get back up and keep going while other people remained blocked. She started doing research and realised that there is a common denominator why people tend to get stuck: They lack confidence. Today, Lisa is the host of The Confidence Crown Podcast, published a guide to self-confidence, works with Tony Robbins and coaches women all over the world to get unstuck. Her vision has become very clear: Empower women and help build their businesses and confidence. This week on The Sigrun Show, Lisa shares her inspiring story and talks about confidence and the part it plays in realising your dreams. Are you ready for a confidence-boost? Then don't miss out on this episode! “There's not a single success story without failures.” - Lisa Hyde In This Episode of The Sigrun Show: From Hollywood talent coach to caretaker Lisa's turning point Why especially women lack confidence The importance of role models What to do when you feel stuck Confidence and the part it plays in realising your dream Working with Tony Robbins Lisa's new project Confidence plays a big role when you're an entrepreneur. Find out how you can raise your prices with confidence or how to achieve business success by daring to take imperfect action. 5 Ways to Get Unstuck and Build Your Confidence If you're feeling stuck and lacking confidence, there are exercises and ways you can rewire your brain that can help you get out of this state. Building your confidence needs time and practice. Here are some of Lisa's tips on how you can get started: First, acknowledge what's happening and try to figure out where you're feeling stuck. What feelings are bubbling up when you want to try something new and you feel resistance? Think about the things that bring you joy and excitement. What did you want to do when you were a child? Why did you stop pursuing your dream? Often, there is a pivotal moment in which someone important in your life told you that you can't do something because it wouldn't pay the bills, or because it isn't the right path. But to get unstuck and achieve your dreams, you need to remember what made you get up in the morning and be excited. You need to remind yourself that you can do anything you set your mind to. Start journaling and write down what you're grateful for. There are things you're capable of doing every single day that are successes, no matter how small. Plan your day in advance before you look at your phone or answer an email. Pick three items you want to accomplish each day. Write them down the night before or the moment you wake up. Once those three things are done, you can be interrupted by other things, but by accomplishing the items you set out to do, you're already winning the day. Give yourself some grace. Pat yourself on the back for getting it done. Look after yourself, exercise and get enough sleep. What do you do when you feel stuck or are doubting yourself? If you're a writer, you can't make a living - this was the belief Kira Hug grew up with, so rather than pursuing a writing career, she became an artist. By 2015, Kira had tried out many ideas, even started a business in the wedding industry, but nothing quite fit. It wasn't until a friend told her that she could actually make money writing copy for other people that she decided to go down this road. She put a transition plan into place, joined a mastermind group, surrounded herself with other copywriters and learned as much as she could, all the while building up her business and creating her own brand. Now, she specialises in writing conversion copy and helps small businesses to define their brand personality. Kira and I worked together two years ago and I loved the process we went through. She surveyed and interviewed my clients in order to create emails and sales pages that really spoke to my audience. Everytime I want to write a sales page I think back to the process she used, which I'm still benefiting from today. This week on The Sigrun Show, Kira talks about how she invested in herself from the very beginning and how she started focusing on branding. She also shares her brand living room framework and how you can use it to define your own brand personality. If you ever wanted to get clear on your branding, don't miss out on this episode! “To write copy, you need to understand your messaging, your voice, your tone and your audience.” - Kira Hug In This Episode of The Sigrun Show: What Kira did before she was a copywriter How Kira pursued her passion Investing at the beginning: How Kira knew it would work out How Kira's business started to grow How Kira shifted from copywriting to branding Kira's brand living room framework How often Kira suggests to do her brand exercise Understanding the level of awareness of your audience How Kira uses her exercise with her clients Do you want to learn more about branding? Find out how to create a standout brand and website or how to build your personal brand on LinkedIn. Creating Your Brand Personality: The Brand Living Room Framework To create brand personality, Kira came up with a framework where she tells her clients to envision a figurative living room and slowly fill it with things that represent them. To envision your own brand living room and create your brand personality, follow the following steps: Step 1: You Imagine yourself in your brand living room. You are the face of your brand. How are you showing up? What is your energy and what are you wearing? Some people are very clear on what they would have in their living room, down to their signature colour and tiny details. If you don't have a clear mental picture of your living room and yourself in it, think about who you are and how you want to come across to others. Are you more casual or elegant? Loud or mellow? Then think of details you could add that represent you. What's your favourite animal? To finish off step one, imagine you have to give a toast. What would you say? What do you care about most? This will uncover your core values, which you then will incorporate in your messaging. Step 2: Your guests Imagine you have guests in your living room. They represent your audience, and you need to figure out what their level of awareness is. How well do they know you and what you're offering? Try to determine your proximity to your guests by understanding into which of the following categories they fit in: Category 1: These are the people who are most aware of you. They are the ones who buy all your products, constantly talk about you and refer you to others. Category 2: These are the people who are product-aware, meaning they know about you and your offer but they haven't bought it yet. They are the people who aren't sure yet if you are the best solution for them, and you're trying to convert them. Think about what kind of questions these people might ask you. Category 3: These are people who know that there are solutions to their problems out there, but they may not know about your solution yet. They know somebody can help them, but they haven't heard of you yet. Category 4: These are the people who are problem-aware, meaning somebody told them that they can show up with their problems and you can fix them. Category 5: These are people who are completely unaware. They don't know they have a problem and are not looking for a solution. In order to get them into your living room, you would have to stand on your porch and shout at them to get their attention. It's important to determine into which categories your audience fits, because it will affect the way you will talk to them. Step 3: Nailing your setting What you're offering and who you are needs to be of relevance to your audience, that's why you need to understand what is happening outside of your living room. What are your guests thinking about when they walk into your living room? What stresses them, what moves them? What's on TV, what's on the news? Having a deep understanding of what is going on outside before you start writing your copy helps you to speak in a human way to your audience. Step 4: Your advantage Imagine your living room and the guests (your audience) sitting in it. What are you teaching them that makes you different from everybody else? When are people leaning in and listening to you? Figuring out what you do differently will set you apart from others and give you an advantage. Step 5: Standing out in your marketplace And finally, evaluate how well your audience is paying attention to you. How crowded is your marketspace? Do your competitors use the same words you do and make the same claim? While at times it's great to ignore your competitors, there's also a point where you need to pay attention to what they are doing. Analyse them and understand their message, their offers, their mechanisms and how they deliver - not to copy them, but to understand what you need to do to pivot your own message. Did this exercise help you with your brand personality? I would love to hear what you came up with. You can follow and connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. There is a magic when woman know that what they have to give will serve the world. Women were so long afraid to shine. And women on a mission dare to shine. That is what's the magic about Frida Trönnierg. Let's get inspired and dare to step into your mission
Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing 99 Neighbors over Zoom video! Emerging hip-hop collective 99 Neighbors unveil their first music of 2020, delivering two new songs titled “QWOP” and “Basement” on Nice Work/Warner Records. The bundle arrives with a stellar animated video for “QWOP,” created by Win Homer. 99 Neighbors, a sprawling collective of rappers, singers, songwriters, producers, instrumentalists and visual artists, have been tirelessly working on new music under one roof while maintaining their weekly livestream radio show on Twitch throughout quarantine called 99 Radio. Creatively, the group has taken their music to another level on “QWOP” and “Basement” with thumping production provided by in-house producer Somba and tightly constructed verses from rappers HANKNATIVE, Sam Paulino and Swank. The group is firing on all cylinders with the creative visual for “QWOP” portraying the members as cartoon characters on an escape mission from the TSA with weed in tow, making it nothing short of captivating.ABOUT 99 NEIGHBORS: If you went looking for the next revolutionary group in hip-hop, you probably wouldn’t expect to find them in Burlington, Vermont. But 99 Neighbors love to upend expectations. So the fact that they come from a woodsy hometown, far away from any anywhere people expect rap groups to come from, is only the beginning. 99 Neighbors is a collaborative project founded by hip-hop vocalists Sam Paulino, HANKNATIVE, photographer Shane Kaseta and producer Somba. The collective is the result of friends combining their efforts to maximize their unique abilities and includes additional members Swank, Aidan Ostby, Jared Fier and Julian Segar-Reid (aka Juju), creating an awe-inspiring group of talent with unlimited creative expression and potential. A sprawling collective of rappers, singers, songwriters, producers, instrumentalists and visual artists, 99 Neighbors challenges our preconceived notions of what a band even is. And if their work so far is any indication of their sonic dexterity and versatility, you can bet that the next thing they release won’t sound the same. The only thing you can ever bet on with 99 Neighbors’ music is that you won’t see it coming. We want to hear from you! Have you ever been in awe of people who have six figure launches and wonder what secret super power they possess to reach such results? When I started my online business, I deeply admired these online entrepreneurs. Never in a million years did I think that one day I would become one of them. The first 9 months in online business I didn't have a clue what I was doing. I didn't have a strategy and just did what I saw other people doing. I knew about freebies, landing pages, webinars and Facebook groups but I still didn't grasp the idea of launching or just generally how to sell online. My biggest issue was this: I didn't know how to go from helping for free to asking for the sale, strategically and mindset-wise. I had my first sale and was building my list with weekly webinars, but I was getting increasingly frustrated with myself for not knowing how to launch. I knew I needed help, both for my mindset and for the right strategy, so I hired a business coach who specialised in launching. My first launch was the mindset shift I needed to understand how to market and sell online. Since then I have done over 20 multiple 5- and multiple 6-figure launches, plus I have done dozens of promotions that I don't count as launches but have generated a lot of revenue. In the last 3 years all my launches have been multiple six figures, ranging from 100K to over 500K and conversion rates from 2% to 5%. But my latest launch was the biggest and most profitable launch I've done so far with $665K in revenue and 82% launch profit. In this episode of the Sigrun Show, I want to share with you the lessons I learned from this biggest and best launch I just did. Don't miss out on this episode if you want to know how you can improve your own launch! “If there's one lesson to be learnt from this launch, it's creating a runway.”- Sigrun What you will get out of this episode: The numbers of my latest launch review (8:37) My launch timeline (17:29) The most important lessons (33:35) Renewals and upsells (36:16) Why this launch felt so light (38:00) Want to learn more about launching? Discover how to learn from your launch and do it better next time or listen to some more launch lessons from a $450k launch. Main Take-Aways from a $650K Launch You don't typically have a multiple six figure launch just out of the gate. For most of us, It's a gradual process. Here are the main take-aways from my latest $650K launch, which was my biggest launch yet. Brand Having a brand people are talking about is important if you aim for a six figure launch. Create content in the form of a podcast or blog posts to keep people engaged and talking about what it is you do. If you don't have already, start collecting success stories and use them as testimonials on your sales page. They will give you credibility and strengthen your brand. Runway The longer your launch runway is, the bigger your launch could potentially be. A launch runway is a launch activity that prepares your ideal client for your launch without them knowing that you are already launching. The goal is to give your ideal client content that makes them want to buy your program once you launch it. You don't have to talk about your program all the time or constantly try to sell during this time, but it's a great opportunity for seeding. Offer Having an offer that makes sense price-wise is essential. I've sold SOMBA multiple times for $2997, but this time, I've decided it's the last time I would sell it for this price. SOMBA started out as a 12 month program but now, I've created two 10-week programs out of it to tailor to my client's needs. It doesn't make sense to sell SOMBA as a 12 month program anymore. The fact that I will increase the price from now on might have added to the conversion rate of this particular launch. Upsell Five days after closing cart and people starting with SOMBA, I did an information call for my Momentum group coaching program and several people ended up joining that program. At the same time, a few people renewed their SOMBA access for another year. In total, the upsells and renewals made out 25% of my launch revenue. Doing renewals and upsells at the same time you're launching is a great way to show your current clients or clients who want to go further and get more support what other possibilities they have working with you. Are you about to launch yourself? I would love to hear how you are preparing your launch, the difficulties you might have encountered and the lessons you have learned. Does launching sound scary to you? You might lack launching experience, are worried about sign ups or don't know how to reach a good conversion rate, but remember: Everyone starts from zero and the more you launch (and are willing to learn from mistakes), the better your launches will get. When Hildur Jonsdottir joined SOMBA, she had no idea how to launch. As a health counsellor who works with people who have autoimmune diseases or chronic illnesses, she already had a lot of experience with one-on-one clients and was preparing to sell her services through online courses. Two years later, she has launched almost every 2-3 months and has had very successful launches with conversion rates ranging from 10-18%. In her latest launch, she was able to double the number of sign ups and made $35K. In this episode of the Sigrun Show, she shares the launch method she discovered works for her business, how she manages her webinars, what she does in her Facebook group to keep her audience's attention, and what she plans on doing to increase her conversion rates even more. If you're in launch modus yourself or are looking for some inspiration around launching, this episode is a must-listen! “I'm so spoilt with my high conversion rates, I never needed to change my launch method - yet.”- Hildur Jonsdottir What you will get out of this episode: Hildur's favourite launch method (7:15) What Hildur did to get media attention (9:30) The sign-ups and show up rates Hildur gets for her webinars (14:00) What makes people to sign up for Hildur's webinars (19:15) How Hildur manages her webinars (23:30) How Hildur's sales are distributed over her open cart period (24:55) What Hildur does in her Facebook group during a launch (27:30) How Hildur explains her conversion rates (31:30) The revenue of Hildur's latest launch (38:55) How Hildur plans to improve her launches (00:00) Want to know more about launching? Activities to Keep Your Audience's Attention Up During Your Launch Sending out regular emails and reminders is essential to keeping the attention of your audience during your launch. However, being active in your Facebook group is another good way to make sure your message reaches people who are already interested in what you're offering. Here is a list with activities you can post into your Facebook group during your launch: Testimonials from previous clients (these can either be quotes or screenshots from comments you have received) Interviews with (former) clients, speaking about their achievements and experiences they had working with you Snippets of individual success stories A Q&A where you answer all burning questions in regards to your offer Encourage people to join your Facebook group and share their stories Allow members to share their own stories through a Facebook live directly into the group Are you about to launch yourself? Have you ever felt stuck? I certainly have, and in my 7 years of business I learned that in most cases, it's because something that is going on in your head is holding you back. Feeling stuck can take on many forms. You might not be able to grow your revenue year after year, or you feel that the work you do doesn't represent you, or a negative comment on social media nags at you for weeks, slowing you down and killing your momentum. Lisa Fabrega is an expert in helping her clients identify what limits their capacities. She started her business as a health coach in 2010, but soon realised that she wasn't really talking to her clients about their food habits, but rather what caused these habits. She attracted entrepreneurs and business owners who came to her because of the inner work she was doing, and soon her waitlists became endless. In 2015, she started to feel burned out and believed she had to change her business model in order to deal with the stress she experienced. Instead of continuing to only cater to her high end clients, she created a $97 program that was for everyone, thinking this would solve her problem of feeling overwhelmed. Instead, she ended up creating a $100'000 business debt. In this episode of the Sigrun Show, Lisa shares how she thought that pursuing a different strategy would guarantee her business success, and how she realised that she should have listened to her intuition instead. She talks about how she started working on her capacities and recovered her business, and how now she focuses on helping her clients expand their capacity to get over their own mental roadblocks. If you ever felt something is holding you back from moving forward and achieving your goals and you can't really place what it is, you might get enlightened by listening to this episode. “When I would get a negative comment, it used to slay me for weeks. Now I don't really care anymore, because I've built my capacity to be able to handle it.”- Lisa Fabrega What you will get out of this episode: How Lisa became a leadership expert (5:43) The different types of capacity (10:04) How to expand your container of capacity (12:50) How to assess your capacity areas and identify problems (15:20) How capacity can help you navigate calmly in a crisis (21:30) The nr. 1 capacity most people have problems with and why women struggle more (25:30) The female Gary V's (28:00) Want to dive deeper on issues related to mindset? Read how I found my money mindset story and created a new one, or learn about self-sabotage and when you are sabotaging your own success. What Is Holding You Back? How to Identify Your Capacity Issue When something is holding you back, it's sometimes hard to understand what exactly the cause is. Lisa Fabrega says that the start of solving a problem is diagnosing it correctly. She advises everyone who feels they have a capacity issue to be very honest with themselves and try to identify what the real problem is and where you're struggling in the following six areas: Money capacity Has your revenue stayed the same year after year? Are you constantly hitting a plateau? Or maybe you hired somebody who costs too much money and drains your resources, even though you could have hired someone who is a better fit? If the answer to such questions is yes, that's a red flag for a money capacity issue. Visibility capacity Are there parts of you that you are hiding in your work because you fear people might not like you or people will unsubscribe from your newsletter or list? Understanding and showing who you are is a big part of finding your ideal client. When your branding doesn't represent who you really are, your clients will get confused. Remember that the parts you are hiding are often the ones that make you the most money in your business. Purpose capacity There is one simple question that helps you discover if you have a purpose capacity issue: Do you really think that what you're meant to do on this earth with your work is fully reflected by the work you are doing right now? Don't keep on doing work you don't feel aligned with. Embodiment capacity How emotionally affected are you by difficult clients, nasty comments, push backs, or disagreements? Emotions can affect the growth in our business. When you feel hurt or embarrassed or ashamed, it will slow you down, not make you take action and hurt your revenue. Structural capacity Do you have the foundations and structures (in other words, your team or virtual assistant) in place right now that you will need in five years? Allow other people to do things that are pulling your time away from growing. Only like this will you get to where you want to be. Boundary capacity This isn't about whether the boundaries you have right now are working for you or not. Think five years ahead, and envision the woman you are going to be with the boundaries you have in place right now. If you are going to become this woman, you need to have the boundaries she will have in the future. Did you identify with one of the capacity areas above? Let me know if this episode helped you nail down what limits your own capacities. You can follow and connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Doors to SOMBA Are Open! “The beginning years are the most important ones: that's where a business is born.”- Sigrun What you will get out of this episode: How I got sick in 2010 and lost my job (3:49) My wake up call (13:37) Picking a business idea (18:16) Finding the right direction (27:17) How webinars became my thing (33:28) My money mindset issue (39:06) From my first sale to 6 figures in 12 months (41:48) Taking the next step: scaling my business (42:18) How the idea of SOMBA was born (48:32) My first live event (52:04) Big decisions: Working with a female coach and planning my own conference (55:37) Hiring my team (58:45) The next normal (1:03:37) [Recording with image] [Link to transcript] [Link to Apple podcast / stitcher / Google Play] Do you want more inspiration for building your online business? If my story sparked any ideas or dreams in you, I would love to hear about it. You can follow and connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Free Live 5-Day Course: How to Succeed in the Next Normal in Online Business On March 9, 2020 I decided to postpone my conference, the Selfmade Summit 2020, which was supposed to take place in Reykjavik, Iceland June 18-19, 2020. To make it up to ticket holders I decided to do a virtual summit this year plus add a mastermind day with the speakers to the Selfmade Summit in 2021. In the past 2 months we've all been flooded with virtual summits and the idea of doing yet another virtual summit sounded less and less appealing. Instead I want to do something much better - a 5 day course for FREE! Over 5 days you'll learn and implement strategies to succeed in the NEXT NORMAL in online business. We'll also have all the speakers join us to share what they are doing to succeed during the crisis. Sign up for the free live 5-day course here. 7-Figure Females with Sigrun In this episode of the Simply Smart Business Show, Gemma is joined by Sigrun to talk about overcoming resistance, the essential elements for growing a team and how important money mindset is to make 7-figures. 7-Figure Females is a mini-series on The Simply Smart Business Show where I set out to bust some myths around creating a 7-figure business as a female business owner, understand what it truly takes to get there, and inspire you to aim high. More on Sigrun here: Sigrun is on a mission to accelerate gender equality through female entrepreneurship. She is the leading business mentor for female online entrepreneurs in Europe, TEDx speaker, and host of the Sigrun Show podcast. Originally from Reykjavik, Iceland, she has spent more than half her life outside her home country; in Germany, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Since she was a young girl she's always been drawn to leadership roles, so despite having zero business background nor the education she made a life-changing phone call and asked to become the CEO of a software company shortly after finishing her master's degree in architecture – and she got the job! Ten years, another three master's degrees, and several CEO roles later, Sigrun found herself in Switzerland with her newfound love but sick and unemployable. Her dream was to be location independent so she could spend time in Iceland and Switzerland, travel the world, and take care of her health. So in 2014, Sigrun started her online business and within 4 years she built a 7 figure business helping women from all over the world. Her signature program is SOMBA, Sigrun's Online MBA, and her other programs are SOMBA Momentum, a group coaching program, VIP Mastermind, a mastermind program, and the Red Circle, the first million dollar mastermind for female entrepreneurs in Europe. Sigrun's motto is: Be Inspired. Think Big. Take Action. Find out more here: https://www.sigrun.com/ For more simple smart strategies and business inspiration, find Gemma here: http://gemmawent.co.uk/
This interview took place on April 29, 2020. I first met Sigrun in 2016 at Social Media Marketing World in San Diego at an impromptu lunch with other online business friends. She was emerging as a well-known influencer for female entrepreneurs with online businesses and quickly rose to the top of her game. Her in-person summit in Iceland was coming up in June, and I had a ticket to go. COVID-19 had other plans causing the cancelation of many events around the world including this one. I figured the next-best thing would be to interview her for this podcast to see how she and women who work with her are responding. Do you see yourself as a leader? We have definitely seen leaders emerge lately. Some heads of state are handling this crisis in a remarkable way, showing their human side. Others run around like headless chickens. What can you do as an entrepreneur to step up as a leader? Kirsten Stendevad will tell you. I met her shortly before one of my SOMBA launches when one of my team members introduced us, and true to my nature of creating projects fast and messy, she became one of my affiliates just days before the launch. Kirsten has spent half her life outside her native Denmark, reporting to Scandinavian media how to create businesses and lives that don't require the hard price a lot of people are paying. When she came back to Denmark, she started writing books and looked for role models for feminine power. She was at the height of her career and about to launch her feminine leadership training internationally when she was hit by a tragedy. She discovered that her six year old son had a tumor. The cancer turned out to be highly aggressive and not curable, and she lost her son. Kirsten didn't give up because she wanted her other children to believe that there are happy endings. She decided to go up instead of down and looking back, says: “I had to continue - I'm an entrepreneur.” She published her book “The Future is Feminine”, which will come out in English in January 2021, and started specializing in 21st century leadership. Today, Kirsten is a popular speaker and has published seven books. In this episode of the Sigrun Show, she shares what true leadership means and how going through a personal crisis has helped her prepare for the challenges that lie ahead. If you want to know what you can do to align your business with your purpose and become a true leader, this episode is for you. “We live in a transparent world. If you don't do what you say it will be very obvious. Eat your own medicine. That's how you become a lighthouse.” - Kirsten Stendevad What you will get out of this episode: Why Kirsten decided to focus on feminine leadership Kirsten's tragic experience losing a child How Kirsten decided to go up instead of down How Kirsten's book gave her a rope to hold on to What leadership means to Kirsten How going through a personal crisis has helped Kirsten to prepare for what is going on now What entrepreneurs can do to align their business with their purpose and be leaders Why leadership means being proactive and take responsibility Kirsten's mantras for leadership What Kirsten hopes people will learn from this crisis Why the future is becoming more feminine How are you being a leader during these challenging times?
