Post season can feel exciting but it can also be stressful for gymnasts and parents. In this episode of the PerformHappy Podcast I sit down with Briley Casanova to talk about how parents can support their athletes without adding extra pressure. One of the biggest challenges is pressure. As meets get closer, athletes and parents start thinking about scores, results, and qualifying. This can make gymnasts tense, overthink skills, or even freeze during routines. The more we try to push or correct at this stage, the worse it can feel.Instead, I share the 24 hour meet rule. In the 24 hours before a competition parents should keep conversations calm and avoid talking about scores or results. After the meet the focus should be on connection and support rather than analyzing performance. Let coaches handle corrections and focus on being a steady, supportive presence.Briley and I also talk about how athletes who handle pressure well keep simple routines, focus on one cue at a time, and have a reset plan if something goes wrong. When parents show love and support that is not tied to outcomes kids feel safer and more confident performing. In this episode you will hearWhy pressure can make gymnasts tense during competitions What happens in the brain when athletes compete under stress The 24 hour meet rule for parents How athletes stay focused under pressure Simple ways parents can support their gymnastIn this episode of the PerformHappy Podcast Briley Casanova and I share small ways parents can help gymnasts feel calm, safe, and confident so they can perform their best.Learn exactly what to say and do to guide your athlete through a mental block with my new book "Parenting Through Mental Blocks" Order your copy today: https://a.co/d/g990BurFollow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/complete_performance/ Join my FaceBook page: https://www.facebook.com/completeperformancecoaching/ Check out my website: https://completeperformancecoaching.com/Write to me! Today on Let Fear Bounce, we're welcoming author, mental health therapist, and Wolf Center volunteer Leokadia George. In 2016, the world met Trumpet, a Mexican Gray Wolf pup whose miraculous birth captured global attention. That true story inspired Leokadia's four-book children's series, helping kids learn about wolves, conservation, and why protecting endangered species matters. Her newest book, Trumpet Becomes a Mom, continues Trumpet's journey—and gives back, with 50% of proceeds donated to wolf conservation efforts. We're talking wolves, storytelling, conservation, and how sharing the right stories can change the world—one young reader at a time.Briley & Baxter Publications Instagram:@briley.baxter.booksThe Wolf Conservation Center has a variety of handles:Instagram: @wolfconservationcenterFacebook: Wolf Conservation CenterTikTok: @nywolforgBluesky: @nywolforg.bsky.socialThreads: @wolfconservationcenterYouTube: @nywolforgwww.kimlenglingauthor.com#LetFearBounce #TrumpetTheWolf #WolfConservation #EndangeredSpecies#AnimalStories
Life can shift without warning, and spiritual battles often arrive the same way. This message from Ephesians 6 speaks directly to those moments when confusion, pressure, and weariness hit hard. Scripture reminds us that following Jesus places us in a real spiritual fight, one that calls for readiness, dependence on God’s strength, and a life shaped by truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, prayer, and the Word of God. God provides armor that guards the heart, steadies the mind, and equips believers to stand firm when the battle feels close and personal. This sermon calls us to stand together in community, stay rooted in prayer, and live from a posture of surrender to Christ. Freedom and strength grow where trust replaces self-reliance.
Freedom stands at the center of the Christian life, and Scripture calls us to guard it with courage and faith. In this message from Ephesians 6, we step into the reality of spiritual battle and the strength God provides to stand firm. Paul reminds us that the struggle is spiritual, not against people, and that God has fully equipped His people with armor designed to protect the heart, steady the mind, anchor our steps, and confront lies with truth. This sermon calls us to daily dependence on God’s power, constant prayer, deep grounding in Scripture, and shared strength within Christian community. It invites believers to suit up with intention and challenges seekers to surrender to Christ as the starting point of true freedom.

Created For Good // Pastor Guy Briley
Advent creates space for longing, reflection, and renewed hope. In this message, Pastor Lance invites us into Jesus’ prayer in John 17 and shows how deeply Jesus desires to draw us near to the Father. Jesus prays for His people with a love that pleads, protects, and sacrifices. His intercession moves Him to the cross, where His glory shines in power and humility. That same love meets us in our joy and in our pain, in our certainty and in our questions. This sermon calls us to walk by faith, hold fast to God’s promises, and see the beauty of Christ dwelling within us. It challenges us to carry this same sacrificial love into the world—especially during Advent—as we welcome others, share hope, and live as light in dark places.

This week's episode of Management Matters with James-Christian Blockwood features key selections from a recent Academy Standing Panel. It is clear the federal government impacts local government, city and county leaders have always had to leverage federal resources, but can that continue given budget constraints and the increasingly partisan political environment? Panelists highlight the impact of federal decision-making on services to people in communities (and foreshadow that the pressure and consequences will soon be felt), raise important questions about the size of government and how budgets dictate policy, and suggests what changes and investments are needed going forward.Tanisha Briley, City Manager, Gaithersburg, MDMichael Jacobson, Deputy Director, King County Office of Performance Strategy & Budget, WAVince Micone, Former Deputy Assistant Secretary for Operations, Department of LaborAlso featured on the full event: Abby Andre, Executive Director of the IMPACT ProjectChris Koliba, Edwin O.
