According to a Marvel Studios source cited by Cosmic Circus, the studio is re-examining its upcoming slate after "internal negative feedback" over Phase 4's distribution and quality. The issues addressed behind the scenes allegedly include creative difficulties with scripts, post-production problems and lackluster visual effects. To prevent Phases 5 and 6 from continuing down a similar path, the report claims Disney could ensure a creative oversight on MCU projects still in the pre-production stage, which in effect could see future projects delayed or outright canceled. Of course, it's worth noting this report has yet to be confirmed through any official Disney or Marvel channels at the time of this writing. Disney's Christine McCarthy Emerges As Top CEO Contender To Succeed Bob Iger; CFO Was King Killer Who Took Down Bob Chapek https://deadline.com/2022/12/disney-bob-iger-christine-mccarthy-ceo-successor-bob-chapek-1235190043/ https://www.cbr.com/bob-iger-christine-mccarthy-successor-contender-disney/ A new report has emerged suggesting that current Disney CFO Christine McCarthy is the frontrunner to replace Bob Iger as CEO after his two-year term comes to a close in 2024. Per Deadline, Disney insiders believe McCarthy is a leading contender to take over for Iger, stating that she "has always been a force to be reckoned with, but you have to put her on a list of top five possibilities after the last few weeks." McCarthy, who has been the chief financial officer at Disney since 2015, was instrumental in the removal of Bob Chapek as Disney CEO, which took place on Nov. 20. If McCarthy were handed the keys to the Magic Kingdom, she would become the company's first female CEO. MCU – MARVEL STUDIOS NEWS The Legacy of Ant-Man | Brazil Comic Con Special Look https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRSwXvMcT5c https://www.cbr.com/legacy-of-ant-man-marvel-documentary/ Ahead of the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Marvel has released a special featurette titled "The Legacy of Ant-Man" that explores Scott Lang's career in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This special look at the size-shifting superhero premiered during CCXP and shrinks all of Ant-Man's adventures and misadventures into a two-minute retrospective. It includes some of Paul Rudd's most memorable scenes from Ant-Man, Captain America: Civil War, Ant-Man and The Wasp and Avengers: Endgame, with a brief look at Quantumania. While the Quantumania teaser trailer had already covered most new reveals from the movie, "The Legacy of Ant-Man" does include an ominous new line from the film's villain, Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conquerer. At the very end of the featurette, Kang can be heard saying, "Your reality, everything you're holding onto -- I know how it ends. You're out of your league, Ant-Man." This dialogue did not appear in the recent trailer, which instead had Kang say, "I can get you home, and give you more time, if you help me. So what's it gonna be, Ant-Man?" This featurette's version is decidedly more threatening than in the teaser trailer, hinting at Kang's status as a time-traveler from the future, which was first alluded to in Season 1 of Loki. James Gunn Confirms GotG Vol. 3 References 2001: A Space Odyssey, Not Among Us https://www.cbr.com/guardians-of-the-galaxy-vol-3-references-2001-not-among-us/ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 writer-director James Gunn has clarified that the trailer's color-coded space suits are a reference to Stanley Kubrick's 1968 sci-fi epic 2001: A Space Odyssey, not the popular video game Among Us. On Twitter, well-known cartoonist Scott Kurtz asked Gunn if Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's colorful space suits were a nod to Among Us. Gunn simply replied, "No," sharing a photo of the red, yellow and blue space suits from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Kurtz was a good sport about the whole thing, however, tweeting, "I just got schooled by James Gunn. And I love it." And to be fair, judging by other posts on Twitter, Kurtz was far from the only one to think of Among Us when the Guardians donned their colorful gear. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3's Synopsis Hints at the Team's End https://www.cbr.com/guardians-of-the-galaxy-vol-3-end-synopsis-mcu/ The official synopsis for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hints that the events of the movie may lead to the end of the team. Disney+ unveiled the official synopsis for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which teases an emotional ending to James Gunn's beloved Marvel Cinematic Universe trilogy. The synopsis reads, "In Marvel Studios 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3' our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them." James Gunn Confirms How Long Thor Spent With the Guardians of the Galaxy https://www.cbr.com/james-gunn-guardians-of-the-galaxy-thor-time/ Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn confirmed how long Thor was with the Guardians after the events of Avengers: Endgame. A fan tweeted at Gunn, asking what happened to the Guardians' old ship, the Benatar, and sought clarification on how much time has passed between when we saw the team in Thor: Love and Thunder and the events of the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The director claimed that the Benatar is in the garage, and revealed that their new ship, the Bowie, is much larger. He added that the Guardians were only with Thor for a few weeks before embarking on a separate adventure, and claimed a long time has passed since then. DISNEY+ ‘Daredevil: Born Again': Margarita Levieva & Sandrine Holt Join Disney+ Series https://deadline.com/2022/12/daredevil-born-again-margarita-levieva-amp-sandrine-holt-cast-disney-plus-series-1235189804/ Margarita Levieva (The Deuce) and Sandrine Holt (American Gigolo) are set for major roles opposite Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio in Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel's upcoming revival series on Disney+, sources tell Deadline. In addition to Cox and D'Onofrio, Levieva and Holt join previously cast Michael Gandolfini. The 18-episode season of Daredevil: Born Again is slated to premiere in 2024, four years after the original Daredevil series ended its run on Netflix after three seasons. REPORT: Michael Gandolfini Signs on for Multiple MCU Projects https://www.cbr.com/michael-gandolfini-marvel-cinematic-universe-contract/ Actor Michael Gandolfini, known for the Sopranos prequel film The Many Saints of Newark, has reportedly signed a multi-project deal with Marvel that will begin with Daredevil: Born Again. News that Gandolfini is joining the upcoming Daredevil show on Disney+ came out earlier this week, but according to Murphy's Multiverse, the actor is closing a deal to appear in multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. Gandolfini's role in Daredevil: Born Again has not been revealed, but this contract suggests that his character will reappear in future MCU shows or movies later down the line. For his first Marvel role, he's working alongside Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, both of whom are reprising their roles from Netflix's hit Daredevil TV show. I Don't Know What Christmas Is (But Christmastime Is Here) (From "The Guardians of the … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-E1ULv6LcOk https://www.cbr.com/gotg-holiday-special-karaoke-marvel-christmas-carol/ Marvel shared a clip from The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, featuring a sing-a-long of the original song "I Don't Know What Christmas Is (But Christmastime is Here)." The video features the alt-country band Old 97's as a group of alien musicians who attempt to make sense of Peter Quill's confusing Yuletide lore. Writer/director James Gunn discussed writing the song with frontman Rhett Miller, saying, "I had all these lyrics for it, and it kept changing. I walked around my house, singing into my iPhone and trying to figure out how the song was going to work. And finally, I approached Rhett and asked, 'Will you help me write this song? Because I can't do it by myself.' And he said, 'Absolutely.' And so we started sending tons of recordings and lyrics back and forth, and we wrote that song together." It's an interesting discussion of Philly politics that quickly detours into Baltimore's chief export (Murder), HBO's "The Wire," getting food at cons, getting propositioned at cons, tragedies such as peanut allergies and The Herblock documentary, convention pranks and the best way to end a conversation.

She is part of Periscope Studio, which we've talked about in previous podcasts. We talk about building a career and learning from mistakes while keeping all the plates spinning. (a vampire farce); Family Man, a graphic novel being told pages at a time, and then collected into volumes; and Danse Macabre 2.0. My friend Alison Hallett recommended Dylan's work and the Bone series by Jeff Smith. Dylan mentioned the artist Ivan Bilibin as an inspiration for Outfoxed. Portland has a ton of creative people of all sorts, and cartoonists and comic-book artists rank high among them. Both Dark Horse Comics and Oni Press are based there. Erika Moen, a Periscope Studio participant, was on this show in August 2013. Bill Amend (Foxtrot) became internet famous. Dylan's Kickstarter campaign was successful, but she hit a bunch of snags we discuss. Her wife, Katie Lane, is a lawyer who advises freelancers at Work Made for Hire on making good decisions about their work and rights! Katie performs legal work for cartoonist Matt Bors, a previous guest on this podcast. I and Dylan listed off an oodle of conferences, which include Gallifrey One, Rose City Comic Con, Emerald City Comicon, PAX, the XOXO conference, MaxFunCon, and JoCo Cruise Crazy. Erika Moen is using Patreon to fund each cartoon she creates.

The Battle for The Answers continue in Episode 88, as Graeme McMillan and Jeff Lester answer your comics-related questions, or at least we do after the first ten minutes spent talking about Robin Gibb and the Bee Gees, Damon Albarn and Blur, and Elliot Smith as the Hipster Tupac. But right after that, we talk which Alan Moore's universe we'd like to see continued; the recent first issues of Batman Inc., The Ravagers, and Superman Family Adventures; Erik Larsen and The Savage Dragon; digital content and comics as a niche market;, Who gets a bigger free pass--Marvel or DC; Greg Rucka and Brian Bendis's discussion over at the Mulholland Books website; the degrees of freelancer success; Scott Kurtz and cynicism; Jim Lee and the role of creators in corporate comics; and the Word Balloon and other podcasts. Plus, Jeff talks about the Raid Redemption and Graeme talks about Portland elections; webcomics and print collections; Shia LaBoeuf and Steve Rude; Bulletproof Coffin and much, much more in a single two hour sonic shot to the brain. We thank you for listening and, as always, we hope you enjoy!
