And a snapshot of the final five Grow A Small Business Questions: What do you think is the hardest thing in growing a small business? According to Karl Schwantes, the hardest thing when growing a small business is to work between being on the business and in the business. He explains that many small business owners are excellent practitioners who may have started their own business after feeling they could do better than a previous employer. The challenge lies in transitioning from working in the day-to-day operations to working on the strategic development and growth of the business. What's your favorite business book that has helped you the most? Karl Schwantes favorite business book is "The Road Less Stupid" by Keith Cunningham. He values its focus on asking smart questions to solve problems and avoid costly mistakes. Karl believes it's a powerful tool for strategic thinking and smarter decision-making in business. Are there any great podcasts or online learning resources you'd recommend to help grow a small business? Karl Schwantes recommends the podcast Near Memo for staying updated on local search trends and Google's ever-changing algorithm, as it provides insights from industry experts. He emphasizes learning from professionals deeply engaged in specific fields for effective business growth. This aligns with his focus on leveraging Google reviews as a powerful tool to enhance online reputation and SEO impact. What tool or resource would you recommend to grow a small business? Karl Schwantes highly recommends leveraging Google Reviews as a powerful tool for small business growth. He highlights that investing in online reputation through Google Reviews yields exceptional returns, with every dollar spent generating $326 in value. Additionally, Google Reviews significantly enhance local SEO, accounting for nearly 50% of its effectiveness, making it an essential strategy for visibility and growth. What advice would you give yourself on day one of starting out in business? Karl Schwantes advises focusing on building your online reputation from day one, particularly through tools like Google Reviews. He reflects that if he had started earlier, he could have achieved thousands of reviews, making his business the clear choice in the industry. He emphasizes starting small, as consistent actions over time lead to significant long-term advantages in both attracting customers and key talent.   Book a 20-minute Growth Chat with Troy Trewin to see if you qualify for our upcoming course. Culture Is What You TolerateIn this episode of BusinessIsGood, I give full credit to Keith Cunningham, author of The Road Less Stupid, for one of the clearest insights I've ever heard about culture:“Culture is what you tolerate.”It's not about nap rooms, Red Bull in the fridge, or inspirational posters. Culture is shaped by what we allow, what we ignore, and how we interact with each other—especially when things get uncomfortable. Here's what I cover:Why most companies unintentionally build a culture of mediocrityHow to tell if your “rules” are just suggestionsThe real drivers of culture: accountability, clarity, consistencyWhy culture is built one relationship at a time—not between people and “the business”What to do about that top performer who's killing your cultureThis episode will help you reframe what culture actually is—and give you the tools to rebuild it from the inside out.Connect with Chris Cooper:Website - https://businessisgood.com/

There are times when you run out of time. When the time crunch hits, how do you consistently publish your podcast each week? I RAN OUT OF TIME My calendar got tight this week. Recording and publishing this episode became a challenge. I typically record my podcast on Saturdays. On Tuesday we have our Podcast Profits Accelerator calls. Most of my coaching calls are on Thursdays. This week, we suddenly had visitors coming to town. Then, I had some last minute travel come up. Next thing I know, I'm running out of time to get everything done. It takes creativity when you run out of time. We moved the Podcast Profits Accelerator call to Thursday. My mastermind changed to Saturday. Luckily, one of my clients moved a couple days as well. Those moves freed up time time to get business done. But what happens with the podcast episode? I still need to publish that. When you run out of time, there are a few ways to still publish an episode. WHO CAN HELP The first thing you can do is find someone who can help you. I recently read The Road Less Stupid by Keith J. Cunningham. In the book, Cunningham talks about being more productive by doing only the things in your circle of genius. Delegate everything else. YOUR PRESENTATIONS To create an episode, what content can you repurpose? Presentations you've given to other groups can make good content. Gary Vaynerchuk often uses his keynote speeches for podcast episodes. Alex Hormozi will use recordings of his q&a sessions for episodes. I've done "ask me anything" sessions on Facebook and used those as podcast episodes. SUMMIT INTERVIEWS When you run out of time, summit interviews make great podcast content. I hold two summits each year. During that summit, I interview 23 different experts. Those interviews become podcast episodes. People can attend the summit and get all of the content plus ask questions. Or they can wait while the content drips out over time. With nearly two dozen interviews, I have almost half a year of content to use as necessary. PLAN AHEAD Planning ahead helps you avoid running out of time. Work a week ahead. When you run out of time, you already have the episode recorded for this week. Get ahead of the game. You can also record an emergency episode. This is an evergreen episode you use in case you have nothing else. GUEST HOST One solution few consider when they run out of time is a guest host. Find another expert in your niche who complements what you do. Ask them to host your episode this week. You can also share an episode from other podcast to expose their show to your audience. You would simply record an intro and explain. OTHER INTERVIEWS Have you been interviewed on other podcasts? You can use those interviews when you run out of time. You've shared great content with other hosts. Surely your audience would benefit from those conversations. Use one of those interviews as an episode of your show. PICK ONE Those are six solutions you can use when you run out of time and can't find room in the schedule to record a new episode.   If you don't have a mentor who can take your hand and walk you every step of the way, go to www.PodcastTalentCoach.com/apply, click the button and apply to have a chat with me. We will develop your plan and see how I can help and support you to achieve your podcast goals.

Too many of us get caught up in the doing of our business instead of thinking about our business. So for this 376th episode of The Copywriter Club Podcast, we are flashing back to another one of our best interviews... this one from business strategist Jereshia Hawk who went deep on selling to high ticket clients as well as what it takes to truly grow your business. She calls it super thinking. We call it CEO time. Whatever you call it, you definitely want to hear what Jereshia has to say about it. Click the play button below, or scroll down for a full transcript. Things we mentioned to check out: The Road Less Stupid by Keith Cunningham The Copywriter Club Facebook Group The Copywriter Underground Transcript: Rob Marsh:  Welcome to the New Year. Whether you're back at your desk today or still taking a few days to ramp back up for 2024, this interview is just what you need… or at least, it is just what I needed to hear to kick off the new year. It is the perfect compliment to last week's throwback episode with Seth Godin. Because Jereshia is another expert that I love to learn from. When we interviewed her a little over three years ago, she shared a ton of great information about selling to clients with money… what is often referred to as high-ticket sales. And that's what we focused the title and promotion of that interview on. But we also covered the idea of super-thinking. That is the idea that we need to be creating space for coming up with new ideas and insights and not just reacting to what's going on. And quite honestly, a lot of us spent the past year reacting to economic issues, artificial intelligence and a lot of other stuff that impacted the way we work. So I think you're going to like the throwback interview with business coach Jereshia Hawk. Before we get to that, if you want this year to be better than last year, better clients, better projects, and better opportunities, you absolutely need to visit thecopywriterunderground.com and check out the resources waiting for you there. That's thecopywriterunderground.com. Now let's get to our interview with Jereshia… Kira Hug: All right, Jereshia, welcome. We want to kick this off with your story. How did you end up as a high ticket sales coach? Jereshia Hawk:   Well, I kind of stumbled my way here. I was an engineer by trade before even knowing this whole online world existed. And I started doing some of my videos, started getting into coaching, just people asking me to give advice or insight on how I was able to navigate my corporate career and how I was able to position myself for upward mobility opportunities in a nontraditional way or in a way that just wasn't the same beat and path of how you're supposed to excel in corporate. And one thing I started recognizing during my coaching calls at the very, very beginning, when I was charging $60 for a month of coaching, less than what you would pay for a fitness class, and the biggest thing that I noticed was the transferrable skills that I had acquired in corporate America. I was a lead engineer of a $400 million pipeline project, I was responsible for managing our money on a day-to-day basis, making decisions based off of input and output, and so I understood how money moved from a corporates perspective, but then I also understood kind of a gap that I noticed in the industry, or that I noticed just from people that I was discussing on, how do you effectively articulate your value in a way that whoever is in the other position, the buying decision or the position of authority to make a decision, how do you articulate your value in a way where they get it and that it also correlates to how it impacts the bottom line or impacts the thing that's most important to them, and how do you position yourself to be able to do that repeatedly. And once I started to recognize that those three things were really my sweet spot and as I started growing in the coaching business,

Kevin & Fred's Next Level Podcast: Quick Tips for Realtors and Interviews from the best in the real estate business

In today's episode, I'm sharing something from 2020 that I recently revisited and found very relevant to what's going on in the market today. Keith Cunningham's book, The Road Less Stupid is one of the best business books of all time, and when the pandemic hit, he wrote a very insightful piece about Business Oxygen. It applies to what we're seeing today, so I'm going to share those insights with you.     In real estate and the industries around, many agents and businesses are hurting. When things are on the decline in our businesses, so many things require our attention, but there's one thing, without which, we just can't survive. For human beings, oxygen is the key to staying alive. For businesses, it's cash and cash flow, if there's no cash flow, the business dies and in light of the current economic turmoil, it's critical for us to pay granular attention to it.    CTA Please leave us a review at https://ratethispodcast.com/nla
