Seinfeld Episode 7 (Season 4) Summary: “Jerry offends Elaine’s assistant with the “panty remark.” Kramer makes a new contact for his Cuban cigars. A box of letters from John Cheever is all that remains after the Ross cabin burns down.”Original air date: October 28, 1992Not only is “The Cheever Letters” a sold Seinfeld episode (according to Adam and Corey), but it also marks the first appearance of Susan Ross’ parents on the show! Description: Sue Ross, age 74, took 8 years to transition from her full-time faculty position in Social Work to “being done” in 2018. Even though Sue taught gerontology and retirement transition, she needed plenty of time to “find my way” through the process. A ‘spinster’ by choice, Sue’s curious mind, thirst for travel, self-reliance, and commitment to community has led her to work in several fields, visit many parts of the world, connect with spiritual communities, and be planful about what may lie ahead. Living solo, and for nearly 30 years with ‘silent disabilities,’ Sue is strategic about the kind of ‘home’ she wants to create for the next phases of her life. "Just because you ‘know’ something doesn’t mean you can skip living through it." - Susan Ross Take-Aways: Every retiree needs to find her own way. Intentionally seek ways to socialize that generate energy Living single teaches to take good care of yourself; no one else will do it for you. Be honest with yourself about future realities, and plan wisely for them. "Retail apocalypse" is a term we're starting to hear frequently. It suggests a coming meltdown of retail reality due to the impact of Amazon and other online retailers on brick and mortar stores. Stephine Riegel's guests on this edition of Out to Lunch Baton Rouge are, in two very different ways, fighting it out on the front line of retail apocalypse. Chris Russo Blackwood is co-owner of Russo Ross, a popular women's boutique on Jefferson Highway here in Baton Rouge. Chris didn't start out in the retail sector. She was a journalist with The Advocate and then later with In Register Magazine, which she headed as publisher. In 2011, Chris sold the magazine and wrote a true crime book about the murder of local businessman Ted Kergan, then, in 2012, before the retail apocalypse got started, she and longtime friend Susan Ross decided to take their careers in a different direction and opened Russo Ross to offer classic, well-made clothes at a reasonable price. Kevin Langley is on the other side of the apocalypse. Kevin is a Baton Rouge based entrepreneur and entrepreneurial expert. He's President & Co-founder of Entrepreneurs Across Borders, a global nonprofit organization that helps high potential entrepreneurs in developing countries, and in the retail sector he's working with the Ebay Retail Revival program, an anti-apocalypse initiative launched by Ebay a couple of years ago that came to baton rouge in May 2019. The program is a way to help small businesses learn how to compete in the digital marketplace by training them over a 12-month period, providing them with individualized coaching and promotional support so that they can learn to succeed on platforms like Ebay. This episode of Out to Lunch Baton Rouge was recorded over lunch at Mansurs On the Boulevard restaurant in Baton Rouge. See photos from this show and learn more about Out to Lunch Baton Rouge here. In this segment Robin White Turtle Lysne, Ph.D. will be talking to Dr. Susan Ross, psychotherapist and Recreational Therapist at San Diego State. We will be discussing personal transformation, which is a topic both of us relish. How does the human being transform from one stage of life to the other, from one state of mind to the other? Our conversation will cover the various stages of transformation as outlined in her new book, The Map to Wholeness: Finding Yourself through Crisis, Change, and Reinvention. This discussion will focus on the topic through the research Dr. Ross has done, and through our personal experience of transformation in indigenous settings from Brazil and Peru to South Dakota, and Northern Wisconsin. Robin's new book, Heart Path Handbook, an Energy Medicine Guide, will also be part of the conversation. We will discuss the material we have discovered to assist people in the process of transformation. Join us for this lively conversation
