ESSÄ: Detta är en text där skribenten reflekterar över ett ämne eller ett verk. Åsikter som uttrycks är skribentens egna.På 1100-talet skedde en av historiens lite bortglömda medierevolutioner. Det började med att kinesiskt papper nådde Europa via den muslimska världen. Det tillverkades av lump och tyg, vilket gjorde det betydligt billigare än det pergament man dittills använt. När priset på papper sjönk, sköt bokproduktionen i höjden.Samtidigt förändrades bokens form. Innehållsförteckningar och register infördes, och det blev lättare att hitta i böckerna. Det här efterfrågades av de framväxande universiteten, där man organiserade kunskapen i växande bibliotek.Men den nya tekniken användes inte bara av forskare, utan också av en annan institution: Inkvisitionen – de kyrkliga domstolar som vakade över trons renhet. Tack vare billigt papper och förbättrad layout kunde inkvisitionens män föra protokoll och bygga upp arkiv. Det drabbade bonden Guillaume Bonet, som inkvisitionen hämtade in för förhör i juli 1246. Han fick frågan om han haft kontakt med katharerna, en förbjuden grupp i trakten, och svarade att han stött på dem, men aldrig deltagit i deras samlingar.Oturligt nog kunde förhörsledaren då visa upp ett trettio år gammalt protokoll, där Bonet medgav att han hört till katharerna. Konfronterad med sina egna ord tvingades han bekänna.Detta låter självklart för oss, men att makten kunde samla in och arkivera material om enskilda medborgare var en senmedeltida nymodighet.Vi tänker oftast att utveckling är något positivt, inte minst för att större frihet följer i dess spår. Men historien är mer mångtydig. Visst underlättar informationstekniska språng kommunikation – men de stärker också maktens möjlighet att kontrollera oss. Det här är ett historiskt mönster.Med hjälp av informationsteknologi kan centralmakten göra två saker: samla in information om sina medborgare, och sända ut budskap för att påverka oss. Tryckpressen gav 1500-talets furstar möjlighet att sprida propaganda och massproducera lagar. Tack vare en effektivare byråkrati kunde staten ta ut mer skatt och skriva ut fler soldater.Nästa stora mediatekniska revolution var radion, som blev ett massmedium på 1920-talet. BBC började sända 1922, och tre år senare var det Sveriges Radios tur: den 1 januari 1925 annonserade Sven Jerring högmässan från Sankt Jacobs kyrka i Stockholm till 40 000 potentiella lyssnare.I dag förknippas radion knappast med kontroll, men annat var det vid 1900-talets början. En regim som effektivt använde sig av den här tekniken var nazisterna. Radion var, menade Joseph Goebbels, för 1900-talet vad tidningarna varit för 1800-talet. Därför tog han fram en Folkmottagare (Volksempfänger) – en radio så billig att de flesta hade råd med den. År 1941 fanns den i två tredjedelar av de tyska hushållen.Det gav Hitler en direktkanal till folket. Han var närmare sina medborgare än vad någon härskare dittills kunnat drömma om. Mediet passade nazisterna väl, eftersom radion förmedlade stämningarna från deras massmöten – retoriken, entusiasmen och de rytmiska slagorden – rakt in i tyska vardagsrum. Det var nästan omöjligt att värja sig.Det senaste stora tekniksprånget lever vi mitt uppe i: digitaliseringen. När internet slog upp sina portar förkunnade teknikapostlarna att denna teknologi skulle förena mänskligheten. Demokratin skulle stärkas och friheten växa.Men i stället har vi sett ett hur ett bekant mönster upprepas: tekniken har ökat maktens förmåga att sända ut och samla in information.Förmågan att sända blev tydlig 2016, när påverkanskampanjer via sociala medier användes under flera demokratiska val. Konsultfirman Cambridge Analytica köpte information om Facebooks användare, skapade psykologiska profiler av dem och kalibrerade kampanjerna därefter.Även informationsinsamlingen har effektiviserats, inte minst genom AI. 1900-talets auktoritära stater kunde avlyssna individer, men för att övervaka alla medborgare hade de behövt ha en spion för varje hushåll. Det var naturligtvis inte möjligt – men i dag kan det skötas av AI-botar som samlar in, sorterar och analyserar vår digitala kommunikation.Denna digital auktoritarism praktiseras redan. Under den arabiska våren 2009 hoppades många att Twitter skulle skapa en folklig resning i Iran. Men regimen svarade med teknik och slog snart ner upproret.Vad entusiasterna missade är att informationsteknologi är ett tveeggat svärd, som också kan svingas av repressiva regimer.Men inte bara av dem. Påverkan kan också ske mer subtilt i öppna demokratier. Nätjättarna har skördat vår data och kan förutse våra preferenser. Därför skräddarsyr de påverkanskampanjer och skickar budskap till oss när vi är som mest mottagliga. Reklam för nya kläder dyker upp i våra flöden precis när vi ska gå och lägga oss, eftersom företagen vet att vi lätt lockas till impulsköp när vi är trötta.Tanken var att tekniken skulle befria oss – men vad betyder frihet när alla kan utsättas för personligt utformad propaganda? Som individer är det svårt, för att inte säga omöjligt, att stå emot ett tryck som kanaliseras via algoritmer rakt in i våra privata skärmar.I väst har vi betraktat frihet som rätten att få följa sin egen vilja och längtan utan några hinder. Men om det finns krafter som, nästan utan att jag märker det, formar min längtan – vad är då en sådan frihet värd?Enligt en mer klassisk syn är frihet något mer än att kunna göra vad som faller en in. Frihet, menade de gamla filosoferna, är att veta vad som är gott och ha förmågan att göra det. En alkoholist med pengar på fickan framför ett öppet systembolag är inte fri, utan fångad av sitt beroende. Det räcker alltså inte att vara fri från yttre begränsningar, om vi inte har förmågan använda den friheten till att göra val som berikar våra liv.Vi har satt vår tillit till tekniken som befriare, men kanske handlar frihet mer om kultur än teknik? Individer kan inte göra motstånd mot system, utan det kräver kulturer – och sådana bygger vi tillsammans. Isolerade är vi chanslösa, men tillsammans med andra kan vi hålla distans till det digitala bruset och hjälpa varandra att se klarare. Det enda som kan motverka manipulativa algoritmer är en stark frihetskulturFrihet vinner vi alltså inte genom oberoende, utan i gemenskap. Vi tänker i ibland på friheten som en ensamseglats, där vi styr skutan dit vi själva vill. Men i dagens digitala värld fångas ensamseglare snart av vindar som de inte kan kontrollera.Oberoende leder inte till frihet, utan till att vi styrs av osynliga krafter. I stället är det bättre att tänka på friheten som att uppföra en symfoni eller spela en fotbollsmatch. Inte frihet från gemenskap, utan frihet genom gemenskap. Goda gemenskaper ger oss stöd, skydd och riktning – men också utrymme för personlig kreativitet.Tillsammans med andra blir vi då fria att skapa ett liv som är större och vackrare än något vi skulle kunna åstadkomma på egen hand.Joel Halldorfkyrkohistoriker, författare och skribent

Sein literarisches Projekt „Michael. Ein deutsches Schicksal in Tagebuchblättern“, 1929 im Franz-Eher-Verlag erschienen, sollte der Welt seine künstlerische Berufung beweisen. Goebbels verstand das Werk als Ausdruck innerer Hingabe – ein „Denkmal deutscher Inbrunst“, wie er es selbst formulierte. Doch in Wahrheit offenbart der autobiografisch gefärbte Roman vor allem eines: das Weltbild eines Mannes, der sich und andere der Ideologie opfert, die ihm Halt zu geben scheint. In seinem Tagebuch notierte Goebbels im Februar 1924 mit Pathos: „Mein Roman in Tagebuchblättern bekommt Linie und Farben. Blut strömt hinein; es ist ein Augenblick der schöpferischen Geburt in mir. Dostojewski fungiert als Geburtshelfer. Goethe [hält] mit seinem ‚Werther‘ formale Patenschaft.“ Doch trotz solcher literarischer Anleihen bleibt der Zweifel allgegenwärtig: „Die ersten Seiten sind die schwierigsten. Man muß den Ton finden, den Duft, den Hauch: den Stil.“ Und am Ende des Schreibprozesses steht eine resignative Bilanz: „Ich bin wohl zufrieden mit dieser Geschichte. Aber doch bin ich froh, daß ich sie hinter mich gebracht habe. Ich werde nie zu Frieden kommen!“ So zeigt sich in „Michael“ nicht nur der Wunsch eines Mannes, sich als Künstler zu verwirklichen, sondern auch der innere Abgrund, aus dem seine radikale Weltanschauung erwächst.

12. August 1933. Im Sportpalast in Berlin hält Reichssendeleiter Eugen Hadamovsky eine Rede an Rundfunkleute und Parteifunktionäre. Er spricht von "Rundfunkliliputanern, die nur ihr Portemonnaie sehen". "Geistlose Perversitäten und Korruption". Wenig später macht das an den früheren Rundfunk-Funktionären wie Hans Bredow fest. Goebbels habe ihm (Hadamovsky) den Befehl gegeben, im Rundfunk aufzuräumen. Jetzt sei aufgeräumt, und es sei leichter gegangen als gedacht. Ernst Heilmann (SPD) sei endlich im KZ. "Rothaariger sozialdemokratischer Edeljude". Der Umbau im Rundfunk sei so weit, dass am 1. September im Rundfunk Ruhe eingekehrt sei. Für uns, so Hadamovsky, "ist der Rundfunk das Heiligtum unseres Volkes, und er soll das Braune Haus des deutschen Geistes werden". Dat ze zich met hun houding op ‘een hellend vlak' begaven, beseften sommigen al aan het begin van de bezetting. Anderen hielden zich vast aan hun drijfveer ‘erger te voorkomen'. De sterke man onder de SG's, Hans Hirschfeld, noemde het de principiële keuze tussen 'Gesinnungsethik' en 'Verantwortungsethik', naar de terminologie van Max Weber.Een manier om de dialoog met Seyss-Inquart en zijn staf gaande te houden was het niet agenderen van mogelijke conflictstof, maar wel formele protesten uiten als het niet anders kon. Daarna poogden ze de scherpe kantjes eraf te halen, vaak met procedurele trucjes. Toen Joodse Nederlanders geen parken meer mochten bezoeken, ontstond een hele discussie over de definitie van 'een park'.Intussen kaapte de bezetter een perfectionistisch ambtelijk project dat het mogelijk maakte iedere inwoner nauwkeurig te identificeren en registreren. We then dive into the positive economic numbers before addressing the organized push by the left to stoke as much fear and fiction as they can over reciprocal tariffs. So, to illustrate their hypocrisy and lack of any real core values, I give you a sound bite from Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) in 1996, Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) in 2008 and President Barack Obama (D) 2018. Then, we pull a quote that predates all of them from Donald Trump in 1988. If you find low-IQ people online asking why Russia isn't part of the tariff announcement, remind them that the U.S. has crushing sanctions in place already that forbids any trade with them. CNN puts paid propagandists on their network as “experts” to keep stoking market fears in an effort to hurt President Trump. The main Nazi leaders who are in the running for becoming the next chancellor and head of the Nazi party are Hermann Göring, Joseph Goebbels, Reinhard Heydrich, Baldur von Schirach, and Arthur Seyss-Inquart. We look at the assessments of each of these potential leaders, and also at the tendencies of the Nazi regime to promote "internecine conflict". Les combats continuent de faire rage dans les régions du sud et du nord Kivu. « Les FARDC, les Forces armées de la République démocratique du Congo, affirment contenir "l'ennemi", précise Actualité CD, dans les zones de Lubero, Sake et Nyiragongo, tout en reconnaissant des "percées" à Bweremana (Nord-Kivu) et Minova (Sud-Kivu) ».En effet, poursuit le site congolais, « l'armée congolaise reconnaît que les rebelles du M23, appuyés par l'armée rwandaise, ont réussi à s'infiltrer dans Bweremana et à prendre le contrôle de la cité de Minova, une entité stratégique. (…) L'occupation de cette ville a provoqué une hausse des prix des produits de première nécessité et amplifié une crise humanitaire déjà critique, relève encore Actualité CD. Des milliers de déplacés, originaires de Masisi et de Rutshuru, ont fui à nouveau, s'ajoutant aux 700 000 personnes déjà enregistrées dans le groupement de Buzi ».D'après une source humanitaire citée par le site congolais, « la famine risque de toucher un grand nombre de personnes. Les familles de déplacés et celles d'accueil se dirigent désormais vers Goma dans des conditions précaires ».Statu quo…C'est désormais la guerre à outrance dans l'est de la RDC, pointe le site Afrikarabia. « En l'absence de toute perspective diplomatique et d'accord entre la RDC et le Rwanda après l'échec des pourparlers de Luanda, le M23 et les autorités congolaises ont décidé (en effet) de privilégier la solution militaire. Kinshasa refusant toute négociation directe avec le M23, et Kigali conditionnant désormais son retrait à un dialogue entre le gouvernement congolais et la rébellion, faisant par la même occasion voler en éclats un cessez-le-feu qui n'a jamais vraiment été respecté. Malgré les récents succès militaires des FARDC, le rapport de force ne s'est pas vraiment inversé sur le terrain, relève encore Afrikarabia. Sans un retrait des forces rwandaises qui, selon le dernier rapport de l'ONU, apportent un soutien militaire décisif en hommes et en armes sophistiquées, on ne voit pas comment l'armée congolaise peut venir à bout de la rébellion. Du côté du M23, on a également l'impression que les rebelles ne sont plus vraiment en mesure de conquérir de nouveaux territoires sans fragiliser les zones déjà sous son contrôle ».La bataille des communiquésEt cette guerre à outrance sur le terrain se double désormais d'une guerre des mots… C'est ce que relève Jeune Afrique. « Les gouvernements de Kinshasa et de Kigali s'affrontent aussi par médias interposés à mesure que le conflit s'intensifie. Les insultes fusent, de chaque côté de la frontière. Le langage a abandonné la diplomatie ».D'un côté, le président rwandais Paul Kagamé qui traite d'idiots les chefs militaires congolais. De l'autre, les autorités de Kinshasa qui qualifient le président rwandais d'élu de la terreur et qui le comparent à Joseph Goebbels, le ministre de la Propagande sous Hitler…De plus, souligne Jeune Afrique, « la guerre de communication complique le travail des journalistes. « Il faut éviter de se fier uniquement aux deux camps, met en garde Claude Sengenya, vice-président de l'Union nationale de la presse congolaise à Butembo (dans l'Est). Quand les combattants du M23 prennent une localité par exemple, ils se précipitent sur une pancarte qui mentionne son nom pour tourner une vidéo et la diffuser. Mais quand on passe un coup de téléphone, on se rend compte qu'ils ont juste occupé un petit bout du village », relève-t-il. Et « l'armée congolaise n'est pas en reste, pointe encore Jeune Afrique. L'armée congolaise qui diffuse des images de soldats morts présentés comme rwandais pour signifier sa supériorité ».La guerre des réseauxBref, « chaque partie tente d'imposer son récit », aussi par le biais d'internet et des réseaux sociaux avec des influenceurs dans les deux camps.Récemment, relève le site panafricain, la chaine de télévision qatari Al Jazeera a été suspendue pour 90 jours par les autorités congolaises. Elle avait diffusé une interview du chef politique du M23, Bertrand Bisimwa. Une interview réalisée par Bojana Coulibaly, qui se présente comme chercheuse mais qui est accusée par Kinshasa d'être une influenceuse pro-rwandaise.D'ailleurs, précise Jeune Afrique, les autorités congolaises ont lancé « un avertissement aux médias qui seraient perçus comme complaisants à l'égard du M23. Les autorités congolaises qui durcissent leurs positions sur le front médiatique tout en assurant respecter la liberté de la presse ».

El 30 de abril de 1945, cuando la Segunda Guerra Mundial apuraba sus últimos momentos, Adolf Hitler tomó una decisión que marcaría el final de su vida y de su régimen. En el búnker de la Cancillería del Reich en Berlín, rodeado por las fuerzas soviéticas que avanzaban de forma imparable, el Führer se enfrentó por primera vez a una derrota segura. El búnker, situado bajo el jardín de la Cancillería, había sido construido en dos fases entre 1936 y 1944 para proteger a Hitler y a sus más cercanos colaboradores de los bombardeos aéreos aliados. A mediados de abril de 1945 el ejército rojo desató la ofensiva final contra Berlín. Para entonces Hitler llevaba ya unos meses durmiendo en el búnker, que estaba compuesto de dos zonas: el búnker propiamente dicho y el antebúnker. El primero se encontraba a ocho metros bajo el nivel del jardín y contaba con un formidable blindaje de hormigón: el techo tenía tres metros de espesor, los muros perimetrales cuatro metros. Con la capital bajo asedio y los soviéticos avanzando por sus calles el ambiente en el interior del búnker era de angustia y desesperación. Hitler, que siempre había proyectado una imagen de invulnerabilidad, se sumió en la depresión y cargó las culpas de la derrota sobre los alemanes, a quienes acusaba de no haber sido capaces de ganar la guerra. Los últimos días de Hitler fueron un torbellino de actividad subterránea y decisiones a la desesperada. Se negó a abandonar Berlín, creyendo aún en una improbable reversión del curso de la guerra. Las noticias de derrotas, repliegues y deserciones llegaban sin cesar. Su estado mental se deterioró, sufría de insomnio, temblores y ataques de ira. En estos días, Hitler celebró su último cumpleaños el 20 de abril de 1945, en una atmósfera muy tensa con todos sabiendo que el final se acercaba. El 29 de abril, Hitler se casó con su compañera Eva Braun en una ceremonia breve y surrealista en medio del caos. Al día siguiente, el 30 de abril, dictó su testamento político y personal, en el que acusaba a los judíos de haber provocado la guerra y designaba a Karl Dönitz como su sucesor. Luego Hitler y Eva Braun se retiraron a sus aposentos privados. En torno a las 15:30 horas, ambos tomaron veneno -cianuro de potasio- para evitar ser capturados con vida. Hitler también se descerrajó un tiro en la cabeza para asegurar su muerte. Antes había ordenado que quemasen sus cadáveres para evitar que sus restos fueran profanados. Al día siguiente se suicidó junto a su esposa Magda y sus seis hijos de corta edad el ministro de propaganda Joseph Goebbels. El personal del búnker intentó mantener el secreto de la muerte de Hitler, pero pronto la noticia se propagó por todo Berlín. La ciudad capituló el 2 de mayo. La rendición incondicional de Alemania se formalizó el día 7, marcando el final de la guerra en Europa. Los restos de Hitler y Braun fueron descubiertos por los soviéticos. El búnker sería dinamitado posteriormente y sus ruinas quedaron durante décadas en la franja de la muerte del muro de Berlín. Tras la reunificación se construyeron edificios residenciales. Hoy todo lo que queda es un cártel que informa a los turistas de la ubicación del búnker, ese lugar húmedo, tétrico y subterráneo en el que el III Reich y su líder se desaparecieron de la historia. Para hablar de este tema, muy demandado por los contraescuchas durante años, nos visita Carlos Pérez Simancas, que es gran aficionado a los temas de la segunda guerra mundial y, especialmente, a todos los relacionados con Adolf Hitler. Dans cette stratégie de domination idéologique, la radio joue un rôle central. C'est dans ce contexte qu'est créé le Volksempfänger, littéralement « récepteur du peuple », un poste de radio abordable, conçu pour rendre la propagande nazie accessible à tous les foyers allemands.Sous l'impulsion de Joseph Goebbels, ministre de la Propagande, le Volksempfänger est présenté pour la première fois le 18 août 1933, lors de l'exposition internationale de radiodiffusion à Berlin. Conçu par Otto Griessing et produit par l'entreprise Seibt, ce poste incarne une prouesse technologique et stratégique. L'objectif n'est pas d'offrir une radio multifonctionnelle ou sophistiquée, mais un appareil simple et bon marché, que même les classes les plus modestes pourraient s'offrir.Le modèle phare, le VE301, est proposé à un prix attractif : 76 Reichsmarks pour la version électrique et 65 Reichsmarks pour la version à piles. Ces prix, bien en deçà du marché, sont possibles grâce à une production standardisée et au soutien de l'État. Ce sacrifice économique en apparence est en réalité un investissement idéologique majeur.Le Volksempfänger est conçu pour capter principalement les stations allemandes et bloque, autant que possible, les stations étrangères. Cette limitation technique reflète la volonté de Goebbels de réduire au silence les discours opposés et de monopoliser l'attention des auditeurs. Grâce à cet appareil, la propagande nazie, transmise par des discours, des émissions et de la musique soigneusement sélectionnés, entre directement dans les foyers.En quelques années, plus de 7 millions d'appareils sont vendus, renforçant le contrôle du régime sur l'information. Le Volksempfänger devient alors l'outil par excellence pour diffuser l'idéologie nazie, galvaniser les foules et alimenter le culte de la personnalité d'Adolf Hitler.Ainsi, le poste de radio à prix cassé n'était pas un geste de générosité, mais une arme psychologique redoutable, servant à ancrer la dictature dans le quotidien des Allemands.
