Positivity is something that most of us consider, well, positive, right?  However, when positivity is used to cover up or silence our authentic human experience, it can become incredibly toxic. With all of the challenges, stress, and struggle many of us have been facing these days, it can be difficult, but really important, to remain optimistic. And, at the same time, we don't want to sugarcoat things or diminish the experience of others. On this episode, we talk about this complex dynamic and look at ways we can balance our desire to be positive and create a positive environment around us, while at the same time being real and giving people space to express themselves authentically.  Resources: We're All in This Together (book), by Mike Robbins Mike Robbins Website Mike Robbins Blog Mike Robbins Podcast Mike Robbins on Facebook Mike Robbins on Twitter Mike Robbins on Instagram Mike Robbins on YouTube

When we’re struggling, one of the hardest but most important things we can do is tell the truth about it.  Even though this is vulnerable, having the courage to be authentic liberates us, gives other people permission to do the same, and often allows us to gain both perspective and support.  On this episode, we talk about the power of telling the truth, even and especially when things are challenging or scary, as is the case for many of us these days.  Although we each have different circumstances, experiences, and difficulties, we truly are all in this together. This event brings the energy of action around the Solstice, happening on the same day, allowing for forward motion. Might the cosmos be encouraging us to act on some things that we’ve been planning or thinking about? This FQM also triggers last summer’s Solar Eclipse at the Summer Solstice – what was happening for you then, as well as around March 24, 2020, when we had the first critical moment in this lunar phase family? . 19:25 – Mars, at 23.55 Aries, squares Pluto in Capricorn (Dec. 23). The planet of war and the exertion of personal will is on the Sabian symbol, “An open window and a net curtain blowing into a cornucopia.” The planet of death and rebirth sits on, “A woman entering a convent.” Such beautiful and peaceful symbols for such a problematic aspect! Instead of feeling crushed under those forces, we are being offered the opportunity to use our personal energy and will in the service of something larger than ourselves. (This story began on March 22/23 with the conjunction. Another reason to revisit to Episode 17, Saturn in Aquarius: All in This Together – you can hear more about this topic!) We’re pleased to promote these gorgeous cards – do check out their Kickstarter Preview which launches on Dec. 19th! . 07:56 – ** MOONWATCH! ** It’s our last eclipse of 2020: A New Moon Solar Eclipse at 23°08’ Sagittarius (Dec. 14) on the joyous Sabian symbol, “A bluebird standing at the door of the house.” This eclipse is on the South Node – change comes from releasing and letting go. In Sag, we are asked to rethink how we make meaning of the world. Past eclipses at this degree include June 2011, Dec. 2001, June 1992, June 1984, and Dec. 1982. What echoes back to you from those times? Is there an old, unhelpful narrative running through your head? Is it time to let go of that story? (To find the house where the eclipse falls in your birth chart, here's April's helpful post. And here’s info to find out if the eclipse is visible where you live.) . 12:44 – Venus, at 29° Scorpio, sextiles Jupiter in Capricorn (Dec. 14) and then Saturn (Dec. 15), bringing opportunities for enhanced status and being drawn into our calling. How can you serve the world? What’s your gift? There’s an opportunity to take something with you that you’ve been learning over the past couple of years. (And don’t forget to order your personalized copy of the Followed by a Moonshadow eclipse report – use code BSASBS for $5 off through Dec. 21!) . 18:04 – Mercury, at 21° Sagittarius, trines Mars in Aries on Dec. 14. Tell it like it is, but always remember to practice kindness as well! Are you able to do both?. 19:29 – Neptune is still square the Lunar Nodes in the eclipse chart. To hear more about that transit, revisit Episode 57, Learning from Neptune, Giving Thanks, & Our One-Year Podiversary! . 20:13 – Venus enters Sagittarius on Dec. 15 and will be there until Jan. 8, 2021. It’s time to enjoy the unfamiliar - perhaps look at something you see every day with fresh eyes. Can we enlarge our perspective on what’s already around us by cultivating beginner’s mind? . 23:50 – Jupiter AND Saturn move into Aquarius this week, setting the stage for next week’s ginormous conjunction! First up: What happens when Saturn, the planet of structures and boundaries, enters the sign of rebellion, the future, hopes and dreams, and social justice and civil liberties. Take note, fixed signs: It’s time to experience some growth! (Helpful past episodes include Episode 9, It's Aquarius Season, Charlie Brown! and Episode 17, Saturn in Aquarius: All in This Together.) . 29:27 – Jupiter enters Aquarius on Dec. 19, and April is having a Jupiter return! She shares it with a former president who presided over a time of similar economic challenges during their last mutual Jupiter return. Jupiter symbolizes growth, expansion, and big-picture thinking, and Aquarius is a sign that is forward-thinking and not afraid to change the status quo. Nothing happens overnight, though; outer planets move slowly, and change takes time. . 34:20 – Mercury makes a superior conjunction to the Sun at 28°42’ Sagittarius (Dec. 19). This particular transit in this particular sign reminds us to pause before speaking. Maybe try journaling (quietly and to yourself) instead of insisting that you know everything about everything? . 36:46 – Mercury enters Capricorn on Dec. 20 and will be there through Jan. 8, 2021. This is a great transit to make plans, resolutions, and schedules for the coming year, especially related to your professional life. (Revisit Episode 5, Unboxing Eclipses to hear more about Mercury in Cap – and it’s also a helpful one to learn about eclipses!) . 41:52 – Many thanks, dear listeners! For us to be able to effectively navigate the challenges of life, it’s essential for us to embrace paradox.  Things can be messy and complicated, and the solutions we seek aren’t usually clear cut.  Our ability to hang out in ambiguity, see things from multiple perspectives, and understand the paradoxical nature of life are fundamental to our success and that of those around us.  On this episode of the podcast, we delve into the importance of paradox and balance, especially given all that is happening in our world these days. With things being as challenging as they are right now, many of us are struggling for a number of different reasons.  As we continue to navigate this difficult time and do what we can to support those around us, it’s really important to operate with compassion.  On this episode, we discuss specific ways to embrace compassion and practice forgiveness - both with ourselves and with others.  These things aren’t always easy, especially these days, but they’re essential for our own self-care and for the well-being of the people with whom we work and live. I wanted to step outside of the dating conversation for this week’s new episode. Relationship or no relationship, the quality of our lives is the quality of our emotions. And many of us feel plagued by our emotions. Whether it’s depression, anxiety, sadness, shame, guilt, fear… we can find ourselves living in a constant state of suffering. If you can relate to this, please listen to this before you do anything else today... I’ve had moments in my life where I was scared I’d never feel better, especially if there was a certain negative emotion that I kept returning to no matter what I tried. It can make us feel hopeless, like we’ll never be happy no matter what we do. If you feel stuck in a place like this, please take a few minutes to hear what I have to say in this podcast. It’s not some magic pill, it’s a real approach that will relieve the tension you feel inside right now. Don’t lose hope. We’ve got this. I promise you. I love you, friend. --- ►► We’re in This Together. Try My Love.Life VIP Coaching and Community for FREE... → http://AskMH.com

April and Jen take a trip down memory lane to celebrate our one-year podiversary as Neptune encourages us to go with the flow in the face of a potentially touchy U.S. Thanksgiving holiday week. (We’re looking at you, Venus opposed Uranus!) As for us, we’re serving up a mini-lesson on the Gibbous Moon with cranberry sauce and a slice of pie! Plus: Giving thanks to you, our listeners. Sign up for April's mailing list for updates, a free monthly lunar workbook, AND an email tutorial on the Lunar Phases! Our pie-talk and imaginary sponsorships go all the way back to Episode 1, Sagittarius New Moon: Stars Over Thanksgiving. . 06:58 – Mercury in Scorpio trines Neptune in Pisces (Nov. 23). It might not be the best day for complex calculations! See if you can organize your life in such a way that there are optimal opportunities to be creative today. Neptune asks: Who would you be if you didn’t know who you were? . 10:29 – Neptune turned retrograde on June 22, and this week pauses in the sky to station direct at 18°09’ Pisces (Nov. 28) on the Sabian symbol, “A master instructing his pupil.” We are learning something from Neptune’s foggy, going-with-the-flow spirit. Climb back into the way-back time machine with us to Episode 1 to hear about Neptune stationing direct! . 16:09 – While Neptune is holding still, he comes close to squaring the Lunar Nodes on the Sagittarius/Gemini axis. Neptune makes it harder to nail down what we think is true. Anyone experiencing that these days? . 17:49 – Venus in Scorpio opposes Uranus in Taurus (Nov. 27). This is the midpoint of a cycle that began on March 8, 2020 (see Episode 15, Venus + Pie: 0-29 Degrees of Separation for that one). Remember that with oppositions, both planets are headed toward the same goal! This aspect is asking us to negotiate how much space we have in our relationships – what’s the perfect balance between autonomy and togetherness? . 23:23 – ** MOONWATCH! ** Jiggle your pumpkin pie as we welcome an opportunity to do a deep dive on the Gibbous Moon phase (Nov. 25)! The Moon is at 19°27’ Aries on the symbol “A young girl feeding birds in winter.” The Sun sits on 5 Sagittarius, “An old owl up a tree.” It’s a sweet impulse to give aid in hard times. But the owl reminds us not to want a helpful outcome more than the person being helped. The Gibbous Moon begins when the Moon is 135° ahead of the Sun, and is the phase between the First Quarter and the Full Moon. (And hey, won’t you join us in the way-back time machine to hear how the Moonwatch theme song began (Episode 17, Saturn in Aquarius: All in This Together)? . 34:48 – Many thanks, dear listeners!
