Are you an interior designer struggling with organization and project management? Tonya Thomas joins us today to share some tips and tools that she's used to help CEOs grow their teams from 1 employee to 50, lead multi-million-dollar revenue growth, and free up their time to oversee major expansion projects. Also in this episode, Tonya explains how hiring a virtual assistant is the key to a complete organizational overhaul. Tonya Thomas is the founder of Team Delegate, a provider of elite virtual executive assistant support to seasoned executives turned small business owners. Tonya is a speaker, 20+ year business owner, and host of the Unbottleneck Your Business podcast. She excels in helping CEOs grow their teams from 1 employee to 50, lead multi-million-dollar revenue growth, and free up their time to oversee major expansion projects. *** ⭐️Why are systems important for businesses? Systems create consistency and organization! A lot of times we have systems in place and don't realize it - for example, if you have an assistant that manages your calendar through Google Calendars or Outlook, that's a system! Your system consists of the tools that you use, and how you use the tools. ⭐️SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are super important to put in place for your business. They create organization, and they're also helpful in case of turnover - you won't need to utilize your time to train new hires because a well-created SOP can be used effortlessly for onboarding. It's important that your SOPs are both written and visual, because everyone learns differently (adding in videos can help visual learners). Creating SOPs can also help identify issues within your overall workflow and ultimately allow you to smooth out your processes. ⭐️Some helpful project management tools are Asana, Monday.com, and Teamwork. Tonya personally uses Teamwork for projects. Even if it's just you and one other person, having a project management system is crucial because it organizes your work. When you're working with others, especially if it's remote, a project management system really helps create cohesion and consistency as you're working together virtually. ⭐️What's a virtual assistant, and do I need one? If you're someone who doesn't necessarily need a full-time employee, but are seeking some help in managing your calendar and other tasks, an executive virtual assistant can work for you. Your company can either be in person or remote, it doesn't matter - a virtual assistant can help both! An assistant will help create systems for your business, and also research project management and organization tools that suit you and your team. ***

Turn on the TV any night of the week and you are bound to run across a cooking competition show. There's plenty of excitement and lots of folks consider it a great opportunity to elevate their cooking ambitions with techniques from some of the best chefs, the best bakers, and the best grill masters from around the country. In fact, more than a few competitors come from our very own backyard right here in Baltimore.Keanu Hogan joins us. She is featured in this season's Hell's Kitchen: Young Guns Edition on Fox. All the contestants are in their 20's, and they compete under the critical eye of chef Gordon Ramsey.Keanu Hogan is a private chef here in Baltimore who runs Thee Perfect Bite, LLC. She joins us on Zoom….Tom's second guest is Chef David Thomas. He is another one of our Baltimore chefs who found himself in a competitive cooking television battle in 2018. He walked away with the Grand Champion Title in the television series “Chopped.” Chef Thomas and his wife Tonya Thomas are the founders of the H3irloom Food Group. Chef David Thomasjoins us on Zoom…Tom's final guest on this 4th of July Edition of Midday's What Ya Got Cookin'? series is Chef Damian Mosley, the founder of Blacksauce Kitchen. Blacksauce Kitchen is a mobile food business in Baltimore that recently opened a new storefront on 29th Street in the city's Remington neighborhood.Their signature creation is handmade biscuits. You can also see Damian and his crew at the Waverly Farmers Market every other Saturday. He joins us today on Zoom… _____________________________________________________________ Tastee Towers Strawberry Shortcake Dessert Trifle Chef Keanu Hogan mentioned this recipe on the show today. It's a sweet little dessert that's perfect for 4th of July entertaining.Ingredients:8 oz pound cake16 oz heavy cream (cold)2-4 tbsp powdered sugar1 tsp vanilla bean paste8 oz diced strawberries1 tsp honey (or sweetener of choice)zest of half a lemonInstructions:1. In a small bowl combine strawberries, honey, lemon zest and a squeeze of lemon juice. Mix thoroughly and set aside.2. Using a hand or stand mixer, whip the heavy cream for about five-ten minutes until it begins to thicken. You want the cream to be whipped to firm peaks which mean you can scoop it and it won't fall off your spoon.3. Add vanilla paste, powdered sugar and fold carefully. Taste and adjust flavoring.4. Cut your pound cake into dice sized pieces. This doesn't need to be perfect and the more crumbly it is, the better.5. In a glass dessert trifle jar (or mason jar) layer your pound cake in one even layer. You can then layer your whipped cream, then macerated strawberries. Continue to layer until you are out of ingredients or your jar is full. Top with mint or lemon zest and ENJOY!!! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We talk about how traveling Africa blew their minds. We discuss "The Shores of Us" a special dinner they are having July 10th. We talk about how they got into the food industry.  David Thomas is a chef and entrepreneur from Baltimore, Maryland. He has been in the industry for over 25 years and has opened and operated several restaurants including the nationally recognized and award-winning Herb & Soul Gastro Café and Ida B's Table. His goal is to bring his mission to reclaim the narrative around African American cooking, sharing this legacy and helping to push it forward. In 2019, Chef David was asked to be part of a James Beard Foundation Juneteenth celebration dinner that brought together African American chefs from all over the country who are solidifying the roots of soul food. He was also given the opportunity to collaborate and cook with world renowned chefs from all over the globe at Guinness Meatopia, taking his culinary community global. Chef David has now competed on Food Network's Chopped competition three times. Ultimately, he earned the title of Chopped Grand Champion in February 2020. He has gone undefeated three times in the Chopped Kitchen. In March of 2020, at the beginning of the shutdowns due to Covid-19, Chef David Thomas and his wife, Tonya stepped away from Ida B's Table. This decision came just after they went to West Africa with Roots To Glory where they went to explore their heritage and their roots in food.
