The Legendary George Van Tassel lived at Giant Rock out at a remote area located in the Mojave Desert during the early '50s, the 60s. This was a definitive time period of UFO discovery that was at the crossroads of a movement that acknowledged contact with Extraterrestrials Extra-Dimensional Super Sensible Entities or ESE’s. Between the ages of 4 to 10 years old this to this day with the continue to have numerous UFO sightings and contact with ESE’s that are unexplainable within and any linear terminology. Jeff Crawford was also living out there during this same time period also experienced multiple ESE experiences. One such experience near Joshua Tree California actually resulted in Jeff vanishing into thin air for two days. A U.S. Marine/San Bernardo Sheriff's joint search party found him wandering in the middle of the desert unaware and unharmed. Jeff have been experiencing the unexplainable all of our lives while attempting to straddle the 3D world which not only provides empathy to this subject matter but for some very interesting perspective. The world has been living in an era of a mechanized material world that has deadened our collective memories that have inflicted a cognitive dissonance on the world's psyche. It is becoming more and more evident that this behavior is not sustainable but dangerous creating broad acceptance of sociopathic behavior. It is our mandate through the Giant Rock Podcast to help raise a higher level of consciousness by blunt and direct dialog in order to assist in the transition into the long-promised Aquarian Age. Giant Rock was at the epicenter of the early UFO contact movement and its legacy continues today. Born to a journalist and scientist, and raised in a community adjacent to a nuclear research facility in rural Manitoba called Pinawa. Then, less than a year later, he came third in Canada's Funniest New Comic contest. Influenced by everything from the psychedelic to the folkloric, jazz, hard rock, roots punk, world music- while hard to describe, one could say the sound and mood of Yawning Man is visual and cinematic ,heavy and melancholy, driving & daydreamYawning Man, who hail from the arid desert area of Southern California, have been playing, jamming, and recording since 1986, and are a highly influential band. Most of their fans and those heavily influenced by them consider them to be ‘the originators’ of the entire “Desert Rock” movement/genre.Brant was a member of the later formed, but also highly influential hard rock/desert rock band Kyuss, and the Yawning Man song “Catamaran” was covered and included on their 4th album “And The Circus Leaves Town”. Countless bands, many hailing from the same Desert turf the band was bred from, and even more, spanning not only the US, but Europe and farther even yet, have been influenced by Yawning Man.It would be almost 20 years after the band’s organic beginnings that the public would be blessed with a full length LP, “Rock Formations”, released in 2006 (Gary Arce on guitars, Alfredo Hernandez on drums and Mario Lalli on Bass). Joshua Shapiro has been involved with the crystal skulls since 1983 when he saw one made out of amethyst in northern California (“Ami”). His film Commune (2006), looked at a seminal commune, the Black Bear Ranch, to explore the wins and excesses of the Sixties and Seventies. His film My Friend Paul (2000), about his relationship to his bipolar best friend, was produced with ITVS, a part of the US public broadcasting family. He is director and producer of The Shvitz (1994), a film about the last traditional steambaths in New York.
