In 1991, N.W.A. would release their 2nd and final album titled Efil4zaggin with a darker, grittier, yet polished sound. Following Ice Cubes departure, there is a clear void without him on this album but MC Ren and Dr. Dre step up in their own right lyrically, while Dre's production takes leaps and bounds forword sounding better than ever in ‘91. Eazy-E adds the much needed humor on this album making it one of the best albums from that year. https://www.tiktok.com/@brandonhetzel996?_t=ZT-8tySWVW3pUI&_r=1 https://www.instagram.com/str8_the_clippa?igsh=cTBzNnFhenRkN3Nl&utm_source=qr https://www.facebook.com/share/15UJnsJNq2/?mibextid=wwXIfr
Does ghostwriting tarnish a rapper's rep?
Known as the "World's Most Dangerous Group", the crew of Ice Cube, Eazy-E, MC Ren, Dr. Dre & DJ Yella (and yes Arabian Prince in the beginning) came into the game swinging and not afraid to report what was going on in the streets of their city, Compton, CA. On this Re-Up it's MC REN's “Kizz My Black Azz” on deck. The album dropped in 1992 with production by Bobcat and the late DJ Train. It was a Ruthless gem and MC Ren at his most raw. In 1996 MC Ren dropped the best record of his career. The Villain In Black. With most of the production overssen by Cold187um and more work from Big Jess and other Ruthless producers (Dr. Jam & Madness 4 Real). It was a classic. In this video, I open up the CD (my og disc) scan it, look at every inch. I go through every track and talk about the producers and the song. This is full revisit of MC REN's classic record (The Villain In Black) Enjoy. Ruthless For Life.

Whilst the stories of Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and - for different reasons - Eazy-E are thoroughly documented, the story of MC Ren is something different from the others. From his embrace of Islam & the Nation of Islam, to his content that presents a conflicting and kind of gross persona; Ren is a voice that is unmistakable and truly earns him the "Villain" moniker, for better or worse.TIMESTAMPS:Weekly Music Roundup - (1:01) (Ben = Bold / Charlie = Italics) CHIKA - SAMSON: THE ALBUM Ramya Pothuri - hazy aja monet - when the poems do what they do Marla Brown - Remedy Backwood Sweetie - Ancestral Aspect She Who Wont Be Named - Time To Change Yo Gotti x DJ Drama - I Showed U So BLP Kosher - Bars Mitzvah Rick Hyde - LUPARA Hus KingPin - Threesome 4 Topic Intro/Ben's Research House - (10:32)Shock of the Hour - (21:56)The Villain in Black - (34:26)Ruthless for Life - (49:10)Renincarnated - (56:40)Lighter Note - (1:06:43)Thanks for listening. Jesse Starcher, Robert Cooper and Mark Radulich present their NWA Straight Outta Compton Album Review as part of the MHOD Jukebox!N.W.A (an abbreviation for Niggaz Wit Attitudes) was an American hip hop group formed in Compton, California. They were among the earliest and most significant popularizers and controversial figures of the gangsta rap subgenre, and the group is widely considered one of the greatest and most influential groups in the history of hip hop music.Straight Outta Compton is the debut studio album by American hip hop group N.W.A, which, led by Eazy-E, formed in Los Angeles County's City of Compton in early 1987. Released by his label, Ruthless Records, on August 8, 1988, the album was produced by N.W.A members Dr. Dre, DJ Yella, and Arabian Prince, with lyrics written by N.W.A members Ice Cube and MC Ren along with Ruthless rapper The D.O.C. Not merely depicting Compton's street violence, the lyrics repeatedly threaten to lead it by attacking peers and even police. The track "Fuck tha Police" drew an FBI agent's warning letter, which aided N.W.A's notoriety, with N.W.A calling itself "the world's most dangerous group."We also discuss Metal Injection's 10 Epic Metal Covers of Hip-Hop Classics. All of that plus video reviews of N.W.A. - Straight Outta Compton (Official Music Video), 3RD BASS - POP GOES THE WEASEL and Stuck Mojo - Open Season.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsosnapchat: markkind76FB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulich
En este episodio de El Álbum Esencial conversamos sobre “Straight Outta Compton”, el álbum debut de N.W.A, lanzado el año 1988.
In this episode Colby Colb explores the story behind one of the greatest collection of music artists NWA and the legacy they built collectively. It starts with a lucky drug dealer in Compton who was tired of hustling and wanted to use his drug proceeds to get into the music business. He saw the success RunDmc was having and had an idea for a supergroup with Ice Cube, DJ Yella and MC Ren surrounding a DJ/Producer Dr. Dre. They conquered the music business on their own terms and was so controversial with their song “Fuck The Police” that the FBI came after them. This is their story, comradely around Hip Hop led to stunning success and an incredible musical and cultural legacy. @getthebackstory@officialcolbycolb https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/backstory-with-colby-colb/id1339943923https://open.spotify.com/show/0ZRCkyd1wgg4Sawr4IewykSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Dem Vinyl Boyz are coming straight outta your speakers and into your ears. This week they're dropping the needle on one of the most iconic records of all time 'Straight Outta Compton'. The debut album from late 80s and early 90s rap group N.W.A. set the world on fire depicting the violence you may see on a day to day basis in south central L.A. and even threatening the corrupt L.A. police. It's a pioneer of the rap industry and was a staple for many of the hip-hop albums you'll hear today. This record sold nearly four million copies and was Gangsta Rap's first platinum record, needless to say it deserves its props. The openers — “Straight Outta Compton”, “Fuck tha Police”, and “Gangsta Gangsta” — are what the album is remembered for and rightly so. They are as prominent a rap group as you're ever likely to hear, and the flows of Ice Cube, MC Ren, and Eazy-E bounce off of each other effortlessly. The synergy of the group still inspires awe. Together they comprised, as Kendrick Lamar recently put it, ‘the perfect cast of characters.' This album is still an essential entry for hip-hop and the fact that it remains broadly relevant after 30 years is a testament to its quality. Thanks for listening to Dem Vinyl Boyz. Well lookee here - we started this whole podcast about four years ago with a Phil Collins album and here he is again like a bald-headed returning character in the soap opera that is Pop Collaborate & Listen. Can this album live up to the heady heights of his 1990 effort 'But Seriously'? Probably not to be honest. But at least in this episode you also get to hear us chat about MC Ren and Guns & Roses, and you can hear Dave sing along to quite a bit of Onyx. Consider yourselves warned. We also mention a few links that we recommend checking out: Dave's flashy new website where you can find his Edinburgh show ADHDave to watch for free on youtube; and Gaz Jones' music podcast Track1Side1. As always come and say hello on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages where we always post terrible jokes about the most recent album we've done so you can give us grief on there. And check out our ongoing Spotify compilation playlist featuring "the best" songs from every single number one album we've done to date. Thanks as always to everyone who has given us the price of a pint on our paypal or even just spread the word and told some friends about our show - it warms our hearts every time we get mentioned in a Twitter thread asking what podcasts people are listening to or would recommend to others. Until next time!
