Dan Wetzel, SI's Pat Forde & SI's Ross Dellenger are back to discuss the biggest news surrounding the SEC, conference realignment and, of course, aliens. The Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners reached an agreement this week with the Big 12 to leave the conference a year early for the SEC. The question remains: how do does the SEC schedule a 16-team conference. The show discusses what the best format would be for the teams moving forward, and which rivalry games would need to be preserved. Also, Texas QB Quinn Ewers cut off his signature mullet recently, which sparks the question: is Quinn growing up, or is the new hairdo a sign there is fear of Arch Manning's impending arrival at Texas? In other conference news, there haven't been many developments since Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff spent time in Dallas, Texas to watch a SMU basketball game, but that doesn't stop the guys from determining how hot the seat is for the Pac-12, which is set to lose USC and UCLA in a few years. A new idea is proposed where the Big 12 could possibly try to add 4 teams from the Pac-12, thereby bolstering its own standing in the college football landscape.Lastly, the show tries to figure out the game plan for the worsening UFO situation in America, and whether our new apparent alien overlords will be benevolent or not.1:00 Texas and Oklahoma have been granted an early exit from the Big-12 to go to the SEC9:15 The SEC's change to a 16-team format24:22 Quinn Ewers cut his iconic mullet27:25 Predicting future SEC matchups under the new 16-team format38:00 Who will the Pac-12 and Big-12 add to their conferences?50:20 The UFO situation in the United StatesStay up to date with the latest college football news and coverage from Yahoo Sports on Twitter @YahooSportsCFB.Follow Dan @DanWetzelFollow Pat @ByPatFordeFollow Ross @RossDellengerCheck out all the episodes of the College Football Enquirer and the rest of the Yahoo Sports podcast family at https://apple.co/3zEuTQj or at Yahoo Sports PodcastsSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Dan Wetzel, SI's Pat Forde & SI's Ross Dellenger detail all of the biggest arguments currently taking place across the college athletics landscape. In the first undercard fight, the University of Texas and the University of Oklahoma are trying to dissolve their contract with the Big 12 early to join the SEC by 2024. Television providers are not happy at this attempt as the negotiations ensue. In the next bout, Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees caught heat from Tim Brown for accepting the Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator job. Brown voiced his opinion on Rees's performance spearheading the Fighting Irish's offense last season. Quarterback Jaden Rashada vs the Gator Collective is our third fight of interest. New details of the initial contract emerged and the pod is baffled by Rashada's representation in the dealings. Our main event was Jim Boeheim taking verbal shots at Pitt, Wake Forest & Miami (FL) for supposedly buying their players last season in a way only Boeheim can. This drew a response from not only Wake Forest head coach Steve Forbes, but also Pitt legend Brandin Knight. Lastly, in news of the weird, an Illinois school official stole $1.5 million worth of chicken wings & Jimmy John's has an interesting new promotion.2:00 The Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners are in heated negotiations to try and leave the Big 12 early11:25 Tim Brown calls out Tommy Rees after Rees becomes the newest Alabama OC22:00 The Jaden Rashada saga deepens as more details are released from his NIL contract30:10 Jim Boeheim vs everyone44:27 An Illinois school district official is accused of stealing $1.5 million worth of chicken wings47:47 Jimmy John's is offering a beanbag chair for customers that order every sandwich from the menuStay up to date with the latest college football news and coverage from Yahoo Sports on Twitter @YahooSportsCFB.Follow Dan @DanWetzelFollow Pat @ByPatFordeFollow Ross @RossDellengerCheck out all the episodes of the College Football Enquirer and the rest of the Yahoo Sports podcast family at https://apple.co/3zEuTQj or at Yahoo Sports PodcastsSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Dan Wetzel, SI's Pat Forde & SI's Ross Dellenger have a jam packed show today coming off of a wild weekend of football news.To kick off the pod, two-time national champion Stetson Bennett was arrested over the weekend in Texas on public intoxication charges, so the guys discuss how this will impact his draft stock. Former college quarterback Jalen Hurts is making his first appearance in a Super Bowl after the Philadelphia Eagles trounced the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Hurts, who has led the team all year, has found enough success to make Oklahoma Sooners fans and Alabama Crimson Tide fans argue about who gets bragging rights over the quarterback. The guys reminisce on Jalen Hurts' rollercoaster journey through college football, only for him to come out on top.In coaching news, Jim Harbaugh took another meeting with the Denver Broncos after Michigan had stated that he will be coaching in Ann Arbor next season. The NCAA is changing their approach to levying NIL violations on coaches and schools: the universities will now have to prove their innocence in a possible violation instead of the NCAA having to prove guilt.Lastly, the Empire State Building celebrated the New York Giants arch-rival Philadelphia Eagles with a light display in Manhattan. Dan Wetzel, SI's Pat Forde & SI's Ross Dellenger react to a new in-depth article that covered the North Carolina Tar Heels' athlete NIL situation and more from around the college football landscape. Before detailing the pros and cons at UNC, the guys react to the Ole Miss Rebels adding two new quarterbacks from the transfer portal. Spencer Sanders joins the team by way of Oklahoma State & Walker Howard joins from LSU. The gang discusses who will likely be leading the Rebels next fall & if any of the team's current signal callers will leave before then. After that, the pod gives their thoughts on a New York Times article that details the NIL deals of athletes at the University of North Carolina. While some high level basketball players are making a very healthy amount, other sports on campus could suffer in the long-term. In other money news, LSU head football coach Brian Kelly was accidentally given an extra $1 million from the school. The show discusses an innovative new flavor of beer stemming from Minnesota. Dan Wetzel, SI's Pat Forde & SI's Ross Dellenger kick off the podcast breaking down more NIL madness featuring top rated quarterback Jaden Rashada as the Florida Gators collective falls through. Rashada, who is now looking for a new home, left Florida as their $13 million collective was unable to fulfill their promise to get enough money. The gang draws comparisons to the early USFL days & notes that the worst part of this NIL situation is if Jaden Rashada doesn't even get to play this year.On the flip side of the recruiting spectrum, in back-to-back years Deion Sanders has landed the #1 cornerback prospect out of high school. This year Coach Prime was able to get Cormani McClain to commit to the University of Colorado.Elsewhere in college football, Ed Reed has been vocal about his situation at Bethune-Cookman, which leads the guys to a discussion about how hard it truly is to change the trajectory of a college football program. In professional football, the Cincinnati Bengals were able to beat the Buffalo Bills to keep the AFC Championship game in Kansas City. The option for a neutral site playoff game is off the table and the NFL will have to wait before trying to turn a playoff game into a bowl game. Finally, the People's Court gives their rulings on a robbery with a stapler and the great Fireball debacle of 2023.1:00 Jaden Rashada was granted his release from the Florida Gators29:40 Colorado lands top rated cornerback Cormani McClain35:20 Ed Reed and Bethune-Cookman University are butting heads41:36 The NFL tried to sneak a bowl game into the playoffs48:23 The People's CourtStay up to date with the latest college football news and coverage from Yahoo Sports on Twitter @YahooSportsCFB.Follow Dan @DanWetzelFollow Pat @ByPatFordeFollow Ross @RossDellengerCheck out all the episodes of the College Football Enquirer and the rest of the Yahoo Sports podcast family at https://apple.co/3zEuTQj or at Yahoo Sports PodcastsSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Dan Wetzel, SI's Pat Forde & SI's Ross Dellenger are back and kick off the podcast going through the details of a new bill proposal that would give college athletes in California a 50/50 split of athletic revenue — a potential huge shakeup to college athletics as we know it. Ross details how the bill could get approved & the newly found optimism surrounding it. There would be more benefits to the athletes, but how would it affect regular students? Could tuition fees be raised? Which sports would be eligible (and are deserving) of this proposed pay structure?Dan raises the idea that the Olympic sports at universities should not dictate tuition being raised for any student. The premise of the federal government funding these sports is also on the table if more bills like these are passed and sports are deemed cuttable by their universities. In college football news, Lane Kiffin was able to secure LSU transfer quarterback Walker Howard and a college football player entered the transfer portal advertising a school that he never attended. Finally, the podcast ends with some fishing advice in the event that you land a big tuna.1:00 A new revenue sharing bill for student athletes has been proposed in California14:15 Would schools risk recruiting advantages by cutting some football funding?19:00 Are the Olympic Sports worth keeping at universities if general students have to pay for them?31:40 Should the Olympic sports be funded by the federal government?43:32 Walker Howard is transferring from LSU to Ole Miss46:15 A college football transferred from Savannah State while never being on the team50:47 A fisherman was pulled from his boat after hooking a tuna in HawaiiStay up to date with the latest college football news and coverage from Yahoo Sports on Twitter @YahooSportsCFB.Follow Dan @DanWetzelFollow Pat @ByPatFordeFollow Ross @RossDellengerCheck out all the episodes of the College Football Enquirer and the rest of the Yahoo Sports podcast family at https://apple.co/3zEuTQj or at Yahoo Sports PodcastsSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Locked On Baylor - Daily Podcast On Baylor Bears Football & Basketball
According to Wilton Jackson of Sports Illustrated, and as written in his report here (https://studio.youtube.com/channel/UCy_stISxa-9rQQji4-u1eFg/videos/upload?d=ud&filter=%5B%5D&sort=%7B%22columnType%22%3A%22date%22%2C%22sortOrder%22%3A%22DESCENDING%22%7D), Big 12 officially announced the hiring of Brett Yormark as the fifth commissioner of the conference on Wednesday. The decision was announced by the league's board of directors. Yormark comes to the league after spending three years at Jay-Z's Roc Nation serving as the COO and co-CEO of Roc Nation Unified, the commercial side of the business. He replaces former Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby, who stepped down from his role after 10 years in April. Bowlsby had previously been the longest-tenured person in a commissioner's role in a Power 5 conference. Yormark has worked with countless artists, athletes, leagues, teams, brands as well as oversaw sponsorship, licensing, content partnerships and brand strategy. These key elements are important as Yormark now joins the college football landscape, one that is dominated by name, image and likeness and an unstable terrain in which the NCAA's Power 5 conferences are “seeking to have more legislative power” and the “ability to shape rules and even enforce policy on their own,” as SI's Ross Dellenger and Pat Forde wrote this week. The 55-year-old Yormark said he is eager to “listen, learn, find ways to add value, add resources and try to help shine light” on college sports. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! -Kiffin talked with SI's Ross Dellenger about NIL, and if you're a Nebraska fan, your ears may have perked up at a portion of the discussion because of what's going on with the new facility-Kiffin says, “Go ahead and build facilities and these great training rooms, but you ain't gonna have any good players in them if you don't have NIL money. I don't care who the coach is or how hard you recruit, that is not going to win over money.”-Nebraska certainly is using NIL to get players…but is Kiffin right about the rest? Is the new facility that costs millions to build that's going up, going to have any impact on recruiting?-Show sponsored by GANA TRUCKINGAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
