www.marktreichel.comhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/mark-treichel/In this solo episode of With Flying Colors, Mark Treichel breaks down the NCUA's proposed rule to eliminate reputation risk from its supervisory program — and the political spotlight surrounding it.Mark explains:Why the N C U A is codifying the removal of reputation risk into regulation. How codification makes the change harder to reverse in the future. The subjectivity of “reputation risk” and why examiners are no longer allowed to use it.The proposal's explicit ban on examiners acting “for political reasons.”Connections to President Trump's Executive Order 14331 and allegations of politically motivated account closures.Examples of industries and groups often caught in the crossfire, from firearms to advocacy organizations. What this means for state regulators, joint exams, and your next exam. Why the NCUA claims there are no new compliance costs. The expected benefits for exam consistency, predictability, and objectivity.Whether you buy into the political narrative or not, this rule is designed to keep examiners out of politically driven decisions.

Should kids be able to access hardcore porn with just a few taps on a smartphone? That's the uncomfortable—but necessary—question at the heart of this episode. As more states introduce age verification laws for obscene content online, the debate over free speech, privacy, and child safety has never been more intense. Are these laws a smart defense against exploitation... or the beginning of a slippery slope toward surveillance and censorship? In this powerful episode of The Brian Nichols Show, we take a deep dive into the Supreme Court's recent ruling on Texas' age verification law—and what it means for the future of the internet. With minors just a click away from explicit material, lawmakers argue it's time to draw a line. But our guest, David McGarry, warns that mandating ID checks for online access might destroy anonymity, chill free speech, and open the floodgates for government overreach. Brian, a new parent himself, doesn't shy away from the tough questions. He challenges David directly with real-life scenarios—like how checking a license at a video store differs from uploading your ID online—and why protecting kids might actually justify certain digital restrictions. Together, they tackle the biggest question of all: where should we draw the line between liberty and responsibility in the digital age? This episode isn't just about obscene websites. It's about whether you should be forced to “show your papers” just to speak online. Should the same standards that protect kids from porn be extended to block free speech on Twitter or Facebook? And what's to stop bad actors—or even the government—from misusing your data once it's collected? Whether you're a parent, a free speech absolutist, or just trying to make sense of how we protect kids without destroying liberty, this episode is a must-watch. We cut through the legal fog, challenge both sides, and bring it all back to common sense and real-world consequences. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
How You Need to Show Up for ChangeNew results require a new mindset. You can't change your health, weight, or fitness by dragging old thinking into a new space. In this raw and insightful solo episode, Dr. Bill Janeshak dives into one of the most overlooked reasons why people fail at transformation:
Paul L. Singer, Beth Bolen Chun, Abigail Stempson, Zach Cihlar Utilizing regulatory powers under its UDAP law, the Missouri Merchandising Practices Act (the “MMPA”), Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced a new rule, codified as 15 C.S.R § 60-19, that would prohibit social media companies from requiring their users to rely on the company's in-house content moderation algorithm. Instead, social media companies must offer “algorithmic choice” to users. In a press release, the Missouri AG called the rule the first of its kind in the nation.

In this week's Politics Block we engage with Bill Maher's latest “New Rule” on the topic of liberals insisting on purity tests to judge how enlightened and woke their fellow Democrats are. We also apply this to the dating world, where a similar dynamic exists.
Former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms ended all the speculation and announced her campaign for Georgia's governor's office early today. Greg Bluestein from the Atlanta Journal Constitution had a prolonged Q & A with Bottoms and it was somewhat revealing, actually. I'm still only lukewarm to the prospects of her being the Democratic party's nominee, but it's hard to ignore her introduction being an effective launch. ------Former Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan, the ex-Republican, has advice for the Democratic Party - to take a "new" direction he says. The problem is, this "new" direction is the same direction the party's tried taking since the ascendancy of Ronald Reagan - appeal to the center - and it's only failed the party more than it's aided them, but sure. Actually, no; Geoff should work harder to help sanity retake the GOP instead of trying to remake the Democratic Party to his liking. ------Bill Maher' sort of fallen from grace with a lot of us on the left, but occasionally he still delivers a "New Rule" worthy of sharing, and last weekend, he called out those on the right and the left for being so lacking in having 'core convictions.'

Kerry Lutz introduced the topic of the recent decision to remove medical debt from credit reports, emphasizing its significance for consumers. Paul Oster elaborated on the positive implications of this change, noting that it will benefit approximately 15 million Americans by potentially increasing their credit scores by an average of 20 points. He clarified that this initiative does not eliminate or forgive medical debt but prevents it from adversely affecting credit ratings. Oster highlighted the broader economic context, including rising costs and higher interest rates, suggesting that this change could lead to more mortgage approvals and stimulate the housing market. Oster also discussed the ongoing challenges consumers face, particularly regarding affordability and persistent inflation, which may take longer to resolve than expected. He encouraged consumers to check their credit reports weekly through the official site, annualcreditreport.com, and to focus on maintaining a credit utilization ratio below 30%. Oster recommended strategies for debt elimination, such as analyzing personal finances, creating a household budget, and utilizing tools like Mint.com to identify savings opportunities. He emphasized the importance of paying down credit card debt for better financial returns and shared insights on how credit scores are influenced by payment history and utilization ratios. Throughout the discussion, Lutz engaged with Oster, expressing shared concerns about the unpredictability of credit scoring algorithms. New Rule Will Force Hotels and Others to Disclose ‘Junk Fees' Upfront by Lehto's Law
If you want to retire early, the Mad Fientist is your guide. For over a decade, Brandon, more commonly known as the “Mad Fientist,” has been running simulations, experiments, and exercises to discover which road to early retirement is the fastest. Now, in his forties, Brandon has time to reflect on what worked, what didn't, and his regrets on the sprint to early retirement and financial freedom. And he's also got a new update that'll make your early retirement journey smoother. After tinkering with the beloved and rarely challenged 4% rule, Brandon decided it was time to sit down and calculate how much you really need to retire early. For decades, financial freedom chasers have been breaking their backs, trying to have as much stashed away as possible to enjoy their well-earned time off from work. But, it turns out that this number might be overinflated, and you can retire with much less than you think. That means your early retirement timeline just got a LOT shorter. In this episode, Brandon will describe why the 4% rule may be a bit too rigid, how to ensure you'll have enough during early retirement, what to do during a market crash or correction, and why spending thousands of dollars on a coffee machine isn't such a bad idea. If you want to maximize enjoyment in early retirement, instead of building a big bank account you probably won't use, stick around! In This Episode We Cover Early retirement rules of thumb you MUST know when on the path to FIRE The 4% rule and why you DON'T need to follow it to a tee Retirement withdrawal rules and how much to spend during a crash/correction The skill of spending and what Brandon regrets most from pre-FIRE life Tracking your expenses and why knowing your costs is CRUCIAL to early retirement And So Much More!
