He calls it a "Business in a Box". Henry Arrowood is talking about Farmshare a way for ranchers and farmers to take their beef directly to the consumer or restaurant. The very cool thing about this is Farmshare is nearly a "turn-key" arrangement. They will provide the packaging, labels, shipping and more. What you do is let folks know that you have the beef they want. Listen as Henry tells us what farmers/ranchers currently make per pound and what he has proven Farmshare can accomplish. The numbers are amazing. Oh...and catch what he did to experience ranch work. It's a hoot! We sure enjoyed this conversation and think you will too...producer or consumer or restaurant meet Henry! In this episode of the All Things Judicial, we focus on human trafficking in North Carolina. Recently, the North Carolina Human Trafficking Commission worked with the Charlotte Metro Human Trafficking Task Force in the release of its 2023 report entitled, Exploitation of Minors in the Queen City. "In every single data collection year, 2020, 2021, and 2022, we had 10 and 11-year-old little girls targeted by human traffickers," Arrowood said on the podcast. "I think that speaks volumes to the work that needs to be done in how we approach our preventative efforts and how we educate our kids to keep (them) safe."On January 11, 2023, Supreme Court of North Carolina Chief Justice Paul Newby declared January as Human Trafficking Awareness Month for the North Carolina Judicial Branch. "It's important to raise and spread awareness about this issue to help North Carolinians recognize and prevent these cruel crimes," said Newby. "We can help put an end to human trafficking in North Carolina only by rigorously gathering our resources and working collaboratively across government."The North Carolina Human Trafficking Commission is the legislatively mandated leader of anti-human trafficking efforts in North Carolina per S.L. 2013-368. This time around we have what a 1980s television marketing whiz would call a “Very Special Episode” of the podcast. And that’s because what is normally the intro is actually half the show – and there’s an important reason why. It’s because Melissa has had some things she’s been wanting to say for a while about kindness – being nice – and those things came to the fore this past week in the form of vaccine side effects and a particularly icky email she received from a clearly unhappy person. So in addition to the usual than-yous (and a dynamite discussion on one of America’s longest-operating travel-stop businesses), during the first half of this episode Melissa holds forth on an important fact of life – that kindness is the fuel of any well-lived life. And how much the kindness of you Tip-Sters means to her and Producer Mark. The second half – this week’s case – is about the tragedy of three friends – two of whom were murdered only because they happened to be friends with the third. Gail Moody and Lori Arrowood were both raped, strangled to death and tossed into the woods, three years apart, in two separate but nearby towns in Souhern Georgia. Gail’s body has never been found. But three years later, when Lori was murdered, her body was found. And it didn’t take long for law enforcement to focus on, and arrest, a former corrections officer named Ken Lumpkin, who confessed, was convicted of Lori’s murder and sentenced to Life Without Parole. And during the Lori Arrowood murder investigation, an unexpected connection to Gail Moody’s death was revealed. Turns out that Ken Lumpkin had a wife – Shelly. And Shelly had been friends with both Gail and Lori. And unknown to Shelly, her friendship with the two women cost them their lives – at the hands of a man she never imagined to be a killer. Get ready for a fast-paced, engrossing and downright stirring visit with Melissa as she not only shares some of her most dearly-held thoughts – but relates the ultimate story of a very bad man being very Not Nice.

During the winter of 2018-2019, one million tons of salt were applied to icy roads in the state of Pennsylvania alone. The salt from industrial uses like this often ends up in freshwater rivers, making their water undrinkable and contributing to a growing global crisis. How can we better protect these precious natural resources? Physical organic chemist Tina Arrowood shares a three-step plan to keep salt out of rivers -- and create a circular salt economy that turns industrial byproducts into valuable resources.

This episode features the wonderfully talented Ami Madeleine. She is a singer/ songwriter who currently resides in Rosendale NY. She performs consistently in the area and is always setting up shows and connecting fellow musicians. She writes original music that is very pleasant to listen to and will make you feel like you want her to lull you into a gentle, hazy, dream-like reverie. Also a familiar voice joins me. My friend Mike Hollis, whom I interviewed on EP: 6 of this season, will be helping me with the podcast. He's going to be joining me in co-hosting and managing the engineering aspect of the show to free me up so i can focus and ask better questions and not be worried about making everything sound just right. I included one of NCM's more popular songs in the intro called Apples. Just in time for apple picking season. We performed it live at The Arrowood outpost in New Paltz about a year ago. Ive been In NCM for over 10 years now. We are in the process of recording a new album. Also My band Rukumbine is used in the intro as well. We are just about to release our self titled EP on Friday September 27th at Heritage food and drink in Wappingers Falls NY. Check all that business out @https://www.facebook.com/Rukumbine/ I was on a short break while I was touring and thinking of ways to rehash the old format and I hope you enjoy the show. Please check out Ami's Music @ http://www.amimadeleine.com/ or https://www.facebook.com/amimadeleine/. Also go to the Soul Flow Studios Facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/soulflowstudiosmusic/. Like the page, leave a comment or two. Give the show a rating and spread the word. I'm really trying hard to get all this good music out there. There's plenty more to come. Stay tuned, stay true. I love you. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/soulflowstudios/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/soulflowstudios/support

Down the Road on the Blue Ridge Music Trails of North Carolina
It’s not unusual for a mountain musician to be a part of several different musical traditions. A Blue Ridge fiddler might play in a mountain swing session on Friday night, sit in with an old-time band playing for a square dance on Saturday night, and sing in the church choir on Sunday morning. In this respect, Carley Arrowood is in good company. But Carley stands out in her youth: few artists as young as she have already mastered so many genres. She plays, sings, and writes bluegrass and gospel music, and was a classical performer as a child.

Episode 226 - Blake Arrowood & Jake Meglio, Arrowood Farm Brewery Happy Monday, Thieves! We're convinced Justin is working on a piece about farmhouse breweries. Maybe you've noticed that he's booked some of the better ones in the region on the show lately. We sure have. But, that's not a complaint because it means that on a day like today we get to sit down with Blake Arrowood, the namesake at the Arrowood Farm-Brewery, and brewer Jake Meglio in Accord, NY. And they are serious about brewing with what comes from their land. We talk about their 100% farm grown beer as well as the difficulties and benefits working the land bring to each pint. Make sure you visit the farm or their tasting room in New Paltz. We might just tag along with Justin as he does "field research."**Want to support us? We have launched a PATREON Page.
