R' Moshe Chaim Eade Torah 25 TinyanaThe Power of Hisbodidus: Cultivating Solitude with GodThis script discusses the teachings of Likutey Maaran, focusing on Torah 25, which emphasizes the profound practice of Hisbodidus – the act of being alone with God. Hisbodidus involves setting aside designated time daily to be alone, either in a private room or in nature, to speak openly and vulnerably with God in one's native language. The speaker explains that this practice helps individuals emulate God's character of being alone, and explores how solitude with God fosters a deeper, more authentic spiritual connection. Practical tips are provided for incorporating Hisbodidus into daily life, alongside the importance of maintaining a balance with communal prayer. Additionally, the script touches on the significance of using one's heart language during prayer and the value of establishing personal routines to talk openly with God.00:00 Introduction to the New Torah00:20 Understanding Hisbodedus01:18 Society's View on Solitude02:44 Emulating God's Aloneness04:08 Practical Guide to His Boedidus06:26 The Importance of Personal Prayer17:53 Formal vs. Informal Prayer27:28 The Importance of Speaking Your Heart Language28:35 The Emotional Impact of Music in Different Languages30:19 Choosing a Life Partner and Language Compatibility31:26 The Significance of Honest Communication in Relationships34:59 Practical Tips for Daily Spiritual Practice38:35 The Power of Early Morning Solitude41:59 Flexibility in Spiritual Expression44:26 The Upside-Down World and Spiritual Insights49:01 Final Thoughts on Authentic Spirituality
How might we uncover our own truth in a world of infinite options? How do we contextualize the inevitability of trends in spiritual spaces? How do we approach traditions with discernment and wisdom? In this episode, I explored the complexity of trends and traditions within spiritual spaces. These can be polarizing topics. Too often, it's easy to either chase trends while losing a sense of who we are or to dismiss trends as mere fads. Likewise, it's also tempting to fall into the trap of revering traditions at all costs, neglecting to ask important questions rooted in common sense and to harden ourselves around "That's just the way things have been done." I will be teaching the next round of Deep Spirit Medicine, a foundational energetic cultivation course, which will begin on Thursday, July 18, 2024. Join the waitlist here. When a Christian becomes awakened to spiritual things, they can sometimes stumble into some practices they should not be involved in. In this service, we will be exploring different popular spiritual practices and what they mean to a believer. Some are simply spiritual principles (astrology) while some are entirely spiritual and involve the summoning of demonic forces (mediumship). We will examine this to help us stay on the right path as we go deeper in Christ. Support the Show.

Rev. Wendy Craig-Purcell continues her series on "If the Church were Christian," by sharing about "Authentic Spirituality." In a more authentically Christian church, prioritizing personal exploration over conformity would be key. Rather than strict adherence to rules, there would be encouragement for individual spiritual growth, akin to the dynamic discourse seen in the Sermon on the Mount. Additionally, the focus would shift towards meeting human needs over preserving institutional structures. This aligns with the examples of Jesus and Buddha, neither of whom emphasized building physical establishments. During the reign of Jeroboam and those kings who succeeded him, Israel became immersed in the doctrines of idolatry, such as the concept of demon possession. ~ The deception of this false spirituality so deluded Israel that they even took part in many of its dangerous rituals. The most extreme of which was the sacrifice of their children.

Since movies are still being made about the existence of demons, there remains some sense of relevance in our culture on this...and you'll find that a large number still believes in it - and so the ideology continues to inform people's thinking on the spiritual realm. However, I found myself thinking more about God's perspective on spirituality. Asking, what did God teach in the scriptures about the spiritual realm? In this episode, we'll explore God's teachings on the spiritual realm and see for ourselves where demons fit in it.
Following Jesus Into His Sermon On The Mount | Week 11 | As shown time and time again in the Gospels, Jesus' whole life and ministry on earth was driven by His relationship with His Father. Jesus lived for, in, and with the Father, and this Preacher on the Mount wants all His followers to live with this same understanding. In these 18 verses, Jesus highlights three common Christian disciplines (giving, praying and fasting) and how we ought to relate to these disciplines as he does - not for our own glory, but to foster a deeper relationship with the Father. This teaching begs followers of Jesus to consider not just the visible movements of their faith, but the motives behind them; motives that are invisible to others, but in plain sight before God. We're all made in the image of God, which means we're all built to worship. But do we worship God, or career, money, or nature?
When we hear the word sinner, we tend to compare ourselves to others and think we're not so bad. But Paul shows that none of us is righteous.
Ben Stimpson (He/They/Them) has always been keenly interested in stories, whether they were the folktales of his homeland or the personal narratives and lives of others. In both his counselling and spiritual work, story takes a central role in how he explores and conceptualizes his own life or the lives of those around him. Ben hails originally from Caerwys, North Wales, United Kingdom but spent 29 years living in Ontario, Canada. Ben's deep interest in reconnecting with his homeland and exploration of spiritual traditions of that place lead to a focus on ancestral work over the past half decade, all of which culminated in his debut book, Ancestral Whispers: A Guide to Building Ancestral Veneration Practices, available from Llewellyn Worldwide. Ancestral Whispers encourages readers to look deeper into story: story of self, story of family, story of community. It explores ancestral veneration as a modern spiritual path looking backwards to the ancestors while looking ahead to our own legacies. You can learn more about Ben here. The conclusion of the letter
At the core of its theme and purpose, Lent is a journey towards the cross, or a journey of preparation. A key element of preparation is discipline. Knowing this, Lent is a journey into discipline, as we proceed forward through 40 days of preparing for the cross. There are so many spiritual practices that we can engage in; thinking specifically of the season of Lent, we can point our attention to these disciplines as we reflect and prepare for a time of recognizing Christ's sacrifice. Jesus uses phrases like "When you pray," and "When you give to the poor," showing us the assumption is that we will already be regularly engaging in spiritual disciplines. As we reflect on the sacrifice of Jesus, we sacrifice in much smaller ways, actively seeking to be more compassionate, loving, merciful, and generous. But this isn't just about practicing these actions and habits so that people will recognize our sacrifice. After all, Jesus calls out performative service and actions as hypocritical. We aren't supposed to be serving and reflecting to be noticed. So Lent is also a journey of authenticity; as we give our own resources, time, and energy to practices that better the world and ourselves, we are giving God our hearts. And in giving, we are transformed. ReNew Community Worship Service Speaker: Aaron Vis Scripture: Matthew 6:1-6; 16-21 http://bible.com/events/48867218

John is going to tell us both what is happening and what we can do about it. Be here for this.
John Povlovitz comes to the Authentic Living show today to remind us of what could be the 11th commandment: “Thou shalt not be horrible.” He wants us to imagine what the world would look like if we all obeyed that command. He reminds us that the way we treat others is the most tangible and meaningful expression of our belief system. And he's come here today to talk about his book: “If God is Love Don't be a Jerk: Finding a Faith that Makes Us Better Humans.” In today's world, where we see professed Christians carrying signs with Bible verses on them into the fray of an insurrection right along with Nazis and White Supremacists, one has to wonder what is happening to Christianity. Does spirituality really have anything to do with resilience? Resilience demonstrates how well we adapt to difficult life challenges, such as illness, trauma, relationship problems, workplace issues or financial stressors. Does spirituality help? Or can it interfere with resilience? It turns out that, depending on the nature of the religious or spiritual practice, we can be made either more or less resilient. Today we are going to talk about how resilience can be built through spiritual practice and along the way we will discover the ways that religion/spirituality can get in the way of true resilience. Don't miss it.
